There's nothing really special or them being low stock of them to warrant Himars to be so long to manufacture since it's just a truck with a pod. The real deal is the missile in those pods.
The conventional pronunciation is A-tacms. The range of GMLRS and its susceptibility to electronic warfare for guidance has limited their impact in Ukraine over the last 12 months after having significant initial impact. But the launchers could easily be a platform for improved missile versions with further extended range and EW resistance. And potentially an ATACM 2 is possible.
That initial stock of munitions is to support initial response to invasion. In a high intensity defensive operation that stockpile can be dispensed in 3/4 salvos per launcher. So it’s a high value asset that will be deployed with care.
Glad tidings to you and your armed forces the system is very good the M270 tracked system with two pods as been in use a very long time by the US. Ukraine has both types of launchers and have used up a part of the older cluster warhead rounds from US stockpiles with very good results the guided version are devastating if good target coordinates are available and there is no GPS Jamming. If there is GPS jamming it is better to use regular artillery dumb rounds or newer improved rounds with more jam proofed guidance packages in the rounds.
Himars exceptionally well performed in Ukraine and even became game changer in some stages of war. That's why it became reason to acquire this system in LT
Himars is no doubt a good system for Lithuania but it is very expensive. I think Lithuania would have been wiser to purchase the Polish variant of the K239 Chunmoo from South Korea and Poland. The Chunmoo also has twice the number of rockets per launcher further increasing its cost competitiveness.
it's not about price i think at this point it's more about getting it here as quick as posible. People need to be trained and S.Korea can not provide us that fast
How bout they pay their soldiers first before buying flashy toys? Himars are high value targets, Russia targets them if they can locate them, furthermore, what's the point if half the forces would desert? Soldiers don't even get discounts for public transport but youngsters who study then leave the country entirely get one?
I mean, I worry about it a little, considering my country is a net provider in the EU, and this project might be getting done using EU funds and you are sending all the money to America.
I love that Lithuania can't say no to these purchases because it's being blackmailed by USA to buy this metal junk because they might be thrown out of NATO haha
Wasn't aware they were coming so soon. Thanks for the videos
Neither was I. That's indeed good news.

👍
Why not puls, maybe because less ammunition production capacity?
because technology is not that refined
If poland is also going with HIMARS and is going to making ammunition it just makes sense.

Those are compatible systems and they can be purchased later when availability is better.
Himars has proven itself to be combat effective in Ukraine, the Chunmoo hasn't.
@@jonasmik6476 If the Polish Army considered the Chunmoo suitable for its purposes then it must also be suitable for Lithuania.
@@jonasmik6476 K239 Chunmoo is M270 launcher on wheeled chassis. And original m270 as well as Mars versions also were used in Ukraine.
Everyone is acquiring rocket artillery, whether it's Puls, HIMARS, Chunmoo, Pinaka is probably not that important.

How will Lithuania afford these things? It is a very poor country.
It’s not, is gdp is just under 80 billion and it’s the wealthiest nation in the Baltics
Don't you worry about it. Most importantly, we are getting them this year! 🎉
