Not very strong. The two ransomware samples Leo picked to test are notorious and not fresh, and every decent AVs should be able to block them without signature. Sadly, Malwarebytes couldn't block the second one.

@@zlq4704 But he did intentionally cripple the protection to see how well the software protects the computer without all functions running. To clarify, when the ransomware was executed to shut down Malwarebytes, real time malware protection was turned off. When it was turned on Malwarebytes blocked it. I'd say when used correctly alongside basic internet sense, Malwarebytes is a really good antivirus if you want some extra protection and piece of mind. Definitley way better than Norton or McAfee lol
@@ceeinfiniti1389 1. With basic internet sense, free AV products like Microsoft Defender are enough. 2. A good AV product should be able to block any malicious attempt to shut it down, which is essential. 3. As I already said, since these ransomware samples are very "famous", good AVs should be able to block them with or without signature.

This is really well made, malwarebytes is my favorite AV and I would love seeing them improve on behavioral protection and Ransomware protection, overall I will keep using them for sure
I have Malwarebytes Premium and Comodo Free Firewall, and Comodo Firewall helps a lot !! I would like to see this test with both Malwarebytes Premium and Comodo Free Firewall on the computer !! I am very happy with the results that I am getting with both of them on my computer !! But I must say that I have some issues with this channels testing !! Try Computer Solutions channel.
no pro malwarebyte is not good as a main av it,s only good for second opinion scanner even free av like Wisevictore Stop X better than it

There are a lot of technicalities involved in conducting these tests accurately and every product behaves differently to them. If it was as simple as pushing a button, I'd do it, but it's not. It takes a lot of work and I'm trying to get there as much as you are. These tests will also be available as a product for anyone to use so exciting stuff coming up. Just be patient. :)

I run malwarebytes premium along side paid f-secure and it's really effective. I've literally only discovered one file that was malicious (it just randomly appeared in my downloads) and as soon as I ran a malware scan using malwarebytes it was quarantined.

I've always been curious about Panda, definitely worth testing it.
Take a week just learning the basics and you will be good, I been using soft soft since it was Fruity Loops back in 03, and still learn

Would love to see it try and block fresh live samples instead of old samples that are already in database. A lot of these tests are done with old samples which should be blocked.

9:28 my thoughts are Malwarebytes seems like it did alright but I have no idea how it stacks up to ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus & Firewall original UI and Next Gen Beta, since ZoneAlarm claims to offer the same kind of AV protection. A video testing ZoneAlarm would be great and i'd get to see how it compares to Malwarebytes if you choose to use it in the SOS scans with hitman pro etc.
I remember a long time ago when zone alarm was all the rage by those that didnt know any better.. and could be turned off by visiting the wrong website, when this happened its icon in the task bar changed to an X on a red background, it also collected telemetry without the user knowing storing it in a file called IAM.DB, and phoning home...

In the microsoft store is ubuntu as an app. Do you know how that works? Is it like a virtual machine or what? Is it the same as just installing ubuntu or much slower? What about security (malware viruses or Trojans) if I browse from the dd ubuntu app??
Thanks for another great video Leo. I’m a Malwarebytes Premium user so I’m really interested in this test and not impressed with the results. I contacted Malwarebytes after watching your last video on the MSDT URL protocol exploit and asked them if they can stop this attack. That was the day your video came out and I still didn’t here back from them. There customer support is terrible and unless they improve it, along with them being able to protect against the kind of exploit you ran in this test, I’m going to drop them when my year subscription is done. Thanks for what you do.

@Patrick Schlienger If I did not pay for an AV, I would get a virus or ransomware every day! I do some very dangerous downloads, I am not a safe internet user. But that is not to say that I still don't get viruses, because in September of 2021, I got a virus with a paid version of Bitdefender on my computer.

I would like to see a test on the firewall capabilities of zone alarm vs something like comodo or windows. Why have a security channel with only one aspect of security?

As a Malwarebytes Premium customer, I’m very happy with these results.
I use Malwarebytes on macOS, and was going to purchase a Windows license as well, but unfortunately they do not yet have support for ARM based systems.

@@e.am.e7793 See Computer Solutions, had high praise for Malwarebytes !! I think Malwarebytes is second best only to Kaspersky !! I have the Premium Malwarebytes on my machine that I am using now !! I have had it on my machine for three months now, and only two false positives in that time, and NO OTHER detection's, and when checked with Hitman Pro, still NO DETECTION'S !! I plan on at least three years with Premium Malwarbytes being on my computer, and maybe more years!

This does not give credibility for the antivirus detection rate test because if viruses are from one source then the antivirus can have a partnership with that source so that the test is more reliable, viruses must be from more than one source
@@Ambassador-For-Christ It is a good thing that you are not infected with any viruses, but it is important to know that a user who does not visit a suspicious site, does not crack and uses common sense to search and download programs, does not need a paid antivirus. Any free antivirus (avast / avira / wisevictore stop x / kaspersky free / bitdefender free ..... etc) (but windows defnder does not, because it hangs a lot and has many vulnerabilities)+ browser extension like (avira safe browser /malwarebyte browser guard) +secound opinnion scanner like hitman pro will be enough

So my question is, is Kaspersky safe to use? If not, what antivirus do you recommend?
Please do this series with mcafee live safe. Yeah I know there is a video but please make it with newer malware of the recent years and do this in live safe not total protection.

I was wondering if you can test the Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control. It is an additional app to the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, using Windows' own firewall to create an enhanced firewall.
IMHO, you are much better off using Comodo Free Firewall.
I want to ask that, can a restore point help in case of any Malware, Ransomeware, Trojan etc. if it was created before the attack?
also will it help in case if windows corrupt completely ?
Restore points can be infected or even removed
Ransomwares almost always disable System Restore and delete the Shadow Copies, with few exceptions.
So what's other options then? Complete Disk Image copy on another offline (disconnected) external drive? And how frequent we should we backup? Twice a day?
Other things that I think got a little to no attention in malware prevention are system wide Ad-Blocking through Host file (with the addition of Browser Extension, e.g. uBlock, etc.) and email protection.

I use malwarebytes and norton on my pc. Norton run out in a couple of months. Will I be OK using just malwarebytes as my primary and only av or will I have to get another av to use with it?
Malwarebytes is trash. Same for Norton as well
Watch Siam Alam and J Itech Solutions to see how it sucks against 0 day ransomware.
Even a less known AV like Wisevector Stopx is better.
Try adding some benign files within your script and see if there are false positives.
This one is very interesting because many of them are over reacting.

Did you run this as admin? If Malwarebyte is installed with admin privileges and ryuk is not, maybe it wouldn't be able to kill the process but that's an ideal situation of course (except having the detection inactive).
Blakk Bee Mac version seems to have so better support for certain midi devices. And not using the ASIO drivers has a lot to do with

Depends on what version you're running some of the versions are better than others on Malwarebytes I use the premium VPN version

Malwarebytes and Comodo Free Firewall are awesome when paired together on the same computer !! Just a friendly suggestion.
Kaspersky is way better, my only concern about it is that it's Russian.
Other than that, i use both Malwarebytes and Kaspersky together
@@Andrlz_ Kaspersky is better, but I would not say way better, there is no sold proof that Kaspersky is way better! PCmag calls Malwarebytes EXCELLENT !! Don't worry about the Russia thing, as long as you are a independent single user and not a big business or a corporation, then you are 100% safe using Kaspersky !!
@@Andrlz_ One of the Great things about Malwarebytes is that you can use it as real time protection and Windows Defender as real time protection at the same time !! Malwarebytes designed their software to be able to run at the same time that Windows defender is running, giving you extra layers of protection! Those are the only two Malware software that I would ever run at the same time, because Malwarebytes is designed to do it !!
