the quality looks outstanding, but until its a complete car set, then imho it would be a waste of money, because youll never get colour and grain match unless done all together, for the purist, i doubt it would be of interest, as each piece of ford wood has a serial number stamped in it, but the price for what he has done looks very good, the only other comments for me would be, everything in that picture is series one 1300E, or early mex, what about series 2 1300E or later mex, and when he does the door cappings, make sure he includes the 4 door, be interested to see the screws, as many of us have searched for them and not had any luck finding them, and if correct, will they be for sale separately
Hi, thanks for the feedback! :D I wouldnt necessarily say that the three piece set is a waste of money as I was of the impression that some models were offered with just the three piece set? The glovebox from what I understand is a bit 'marmite' ie some love it some hate it. I've seen original examples of wood packs in cars where the glovebox is mismatched, oddly these being made from walnut veneer while the rest was either cherry or teak. I can certainly appreciate authenticity and original matching numbers but unfortunately that isnt always attainable, if the wood sets werent pulled out in years past and broke up/burnt they were possibly poorly stored and have degraded beyond point of economical repair or simply have remained in the car and have degraded due to UV damage in which case they could certainly be refinished and restored. There is no other supplier of newly made panels that I am aware of so if you don't have originals (hard come by) then your only option is to obtain reproductions :D I cant claim the screws will be OEM spec but as you are aware they are gold dust so I got the next availible alternative which is a 5x5/8" countersunk, raised head dark copper colored screw, I'm still waiting on them to arrive as I had to source them in the US so we'll see what they are like. If suitable and adequate yes I could certainly sell packs individually. Door cappings for the two door escort are next on my list and I have constructed the jigs to manufacture these which I'll be trialing soon, so watch this space. The four door cappings, yes, I will do these eventually once I can source an original set to make master templates from.
@@peterh3233 Hi Peter as far as im aware, the wood pack was not offered as a 3 piece, always came with the glove box, the damp did used to get to the ply a little and warp it, although the edges were painted brown like the other parts, yes agreed, the glovebox tended to be walnut veneer, whilst the rest of the dash was allegedly american cherry, that may have been done because the area being bigger, there were 2 versions of the binnacle facia, early where you see the screw heads, later you dont as its screwed from behind, and the dash front, theres single and twin holed, for with and without cigarette lighter, the dash parts were originally AVO car custom pack parts, then put on the 1300E, and the as far as im aware, 1300E was the the only model to have door cappings, the door cappings were wood and not ply, and they were not veneered, but the limited run of E's is probably what makes them difficult to find, as everyone seems to want them there is another man making the wood, hes been doing it for some time, i dont think he polishes them, but not totally sure, and the wood isnt cherry or walnut restoration of the originals at a good price, is also something thats sought after, GDK Veneering can do it, but are very expensive, will be interested in the screws, and yes, agreed the only place i could find them was an american firm, although they had an office here, they wanted you to buy tens of thousands of them re stain colour, there seems to be 2-3 different ones used on the 1300E, but kept to a lighter one on the AVO cars as far as i can see, thats why as a part set i would worry about matching the colours at a later time
