    I bought tekken because it was on weekend sale and thank you for this very detailed guide I finished watching 101-103 and made a routine practice to put it in my muscle memory. I got promoted to brawler with 80k tekken prowess just because I know what whiff punishes and good spacing are. I can't express how thankful I am for giving us a free lesson but here's a subscribe

    I certainly understand the theory behind all this frame data stuff thanks to this video. I can't make use of it personally since I failed nearly every math class I was ever in and thus I suck with numbers, but it does make me respect the hell out of anyone who is able to learn this stuff. I'm not a fast thinker, nor is my memory worth a damn, so I play fighting games on instinct, which is just the fancy was of saying half button mashing and half abusing moves that seem most likely to succeed. Still, despite my own short comings, its nice to now understand all the lingo when people talk about it, even if the numbers cited just leaves me confused with an aching head, lol. So thank you for the explanation, now I can at least follow what people are on about.

    • @PeterYMao
      @PeterYMao  4 года назад +1

      You are very welcome dreadrath. Frame data becomes easier the more you use it. Just know if something is -14 then you can use a move that is 14 frames on start up and it will punish it. If something is -14 you can even use a move that is 10 frames on start up and it will still punish it. As long as your attack's start up is smaller than the number of the minus you can punish it.

    • @dreadrath
      @dreadrath 4 года назад +1

      @@PeterYMao Thanks for the tips. My reaction time isn't the greatest (Lousy eyesight) but I do sometimes recognize those windows of opportunity, so its nice to know what they are. I guess I can figure out which moves garner a frame advantage when they connect and memorize a couple of simple, quick and easy followup moves to work into a routine, like an automatic response to compensates a bit for my poor reaction speed (I spot openings just after its too late to exploit them sadly)
      I suppose I'll just start simple and focus on following up on a single move that gains an advantage and see how I do. I'm only playing Tekken 3 right now, I plan on getting T7 once the stupid lockdown ends. Regardless, this video even helps with Tekken 3 because I'm now noticing frame data in practice mode. Hehe, I also play Bryan, his laugh creeped me out as a kid, but now I'm way older I think he's awesome, landing Fishermen Slam makes me smile.

    nice explanation!!! now should I memorize the frame data of my character.... hmm...

    • @PeterYMao
      @PeterYMao  4 года назад

      There's definitely no harm in memorizing it for your character. You should definitely know your frames for your own character.

    How does this guy not have more subs, I have been looking for a video like this for years. Now I can start learning Jack's and Leroy Smith when he comes out

      Aww thank Simon. I do wish I had more subs, but I work with the people I have. I enjoy providing quality content, and not just mass content. I think quality > quantity.

    Question i went to check Marduk's frames on the website and it doesnt sho some of his start-up frames, any reason for this or are they just missing?

    • @PeterYMao
      @PeterYMao  5 лет назад +1

      No problem David Nascimento! To answer your question. Marduk's frames are not missing, but rather RBNorway did not put in the information because the moves that are blank for start-up all have the same start-up frames as the move before it. So if you look at 1 it is 10fr start-up, but 1,2 doesn't have anything filled it. This is because 1,2 starts with 1 and 1 is 10fr start-up so they didn't bother putting in 10fr start-up since it is all from a standing 1.

    Which frame data should I start remembering?

    • @PeterYMao
      @PeterYMao  4 года назад

      Your own characters commonly used moves how fast they start up and what they are on block.
      Standard hopkicks, jabs, dickjabs, d/f+1 and d/f+2. That's a good start.
