Chris Stuckmann reviews The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field. Directed by Marc Webb.
The scene with the little boy was actually Andrew Garfield's idea. He wanted to do that.
***** Oh, I don't know actually.. I think it was only the scene in the beginning. Oh dear God don't remind me of that Rhino scene please lol
Andrew should have dirrected this movie
WHat? It's brilliant...
Too bad it was there for only 30 seconds and cuts to next scene
Still shit
"Walking into a war zone with no weaponry."
Hey, that's what Andrew Garfield did!
Tom Urrutia HOLY SHIT
Tom Urrutia yeah in a movie that he was in once
Aethere_ Nocturna ikr
But Andrew Garfield is not your regular human
He did have a bayonet and two hulking balls of steel
Honestly I bought this movie on 3D blu-ray just so I can laugh at it more. 3/10 worse than Jupiter Ascending. Amazing comedy material. Watched the original Raimi Spider-Man recently and realized we will probably never see a superhero movie like it again. So great. His style suits the genre perfectly.
I wish the general populace would appreciate a superhero movie which showcases a director's style than one with rapid-fire fanservice. That's the reason why 3 was not of the quality of the first 2 Raimi movies. It had too many "look! recognizable characters!" moments to really be amazing like it could have been. It's still better than the Amazing Spider-Man series. Those two movies and Zoolander 2 are perfect examples of some problems with Hollywood nowadays.
Hey adum when is the inevitable YMS: Dawn of Justice coming out?
Your review Adam made me laugh my ass off.
+Shrek Fanboy adam is working on it, so...in two years
Quicke on Spiderman 2?
I think one thing they got right with Spider-Man was that he always tried to reason with villains who he first knew as nice people. He tried to get through to The Lizard in Midtown; he tried to calm Electro down when he realised he was the guy with the blueprints he saved some time ago; finally, he tried to talk Harry out of hurting Gwen instead of fighting him immediately. Rhino was already a criminal when they first met so he gets a pass.
This comment has aged like a fine wine.
No he asked Rhino first..
@@toonzach2870 Thanks
@@whitesimurgh6363 Wasn’t he just introducing himself? I don’t recall Peter ever asking Rhino to stop or reconsider what he was doing.
Just watched no way home. You called it 5yrs ago
There's a deleted scene in which it's revealed that Richard Parker has been alive the whole time and reveals himself to Peter. They didn't know what the fuck they were doing.
WHAAAAAT?! That's hilarious for some reason.
+Skooma Joe it's on RUclips I think
No that's an alternate universe scene
Skooma Joe Yeah it is on RUclips hahaha. I saw it in a video with all the deleted scenes. It takes place in a graveyard and it is ridiculous.
+Walter Kovacs you have to admit Andrew garfields acting was incredible in that scene
I like this movie because it made Andrew Garfield quit being Spider-Man and become the great actor that he was meant to be after the social network, he's doing movies like hacksaw ridge and silence now because he's not doing Spider-Man
They copied that from Spider Man 2... and gave it no meaning...
Yes. Except it was for literally around 5 minutes.
Vignesh Rajmohan I don't disagree but... They dragged angsty Spidey for far too long in this movie! I felt like I was watching a Spiderman movie at the last five minutes then the movie stopped! No! Where is Spidey for the the rest of the movie?
It didn't make him quit being Spider-Man, dipshit.
Ryan R. It basically did. Superhero movies are usually trilogy’s and I’m sure if the ASM 2 was a good movie they would’ve made a third one. There is no doubt about that. Hollywood are the masters of milking just about anything profitable
"Gwen Stacy goes from high to low..." Pun intended?
lol. Iaughed out loud reading that. Dang. That's what lol is for. X(
But really, nice joke. Am I a horrible person since that part was one of my favorite parts in the movie? I laughed on that part.
+DMAN 62102
Just be respectful. The writers really stuck their necks out to write that scene. I hear it was back breaking to film that. Apparently, they almost didn't have the spine to put it in the movie.
:p
Was that pun also intended?
Josh Viator what was wrong with me?
DMAN 62102 I was trying to replay to remo's comment, but youtube was being dumb
Gwen dying was sad. It’s the best scene in the movie.
Honestly, the amount of tension built in that scene with Peter desperately trying to fight off Goblin while also attempting to jam the clock gears is breathtaking. I just wish her death was earned or at least done by a villain where this conclusion was inevitable
Yeah, I already knew she was going to die, because I watched the trailer......
Totally agree, I’m surprised Chris skipped over that - It was a genuinely great, really well executed and powerful moment. Unfortunately, that scene exists in a genuinely rubbish film.
@@brucekennedy5274 Seriously? That hand forming at the tip of the web was cringy AF and at the end, when Gwen does hit the ground, but the web also grabs her, I wasn´t even clear if she died or got saved after all at first! Well executed my ass......
@@chanceneck8072 each to their own, the film was poor, but I liked that bit.
Nostalgia Critic rated this better than the Sam Raimi series.
I respect Stuckmanns opinions much much more.
Jonny Baynham
But Nostalgic critic is kinda right, when it comes down to the love interest and who's the better Spider-Man, Marc Webb Spider-man is better. BUT, not storyline, plot, villains, Peter Parker, soundtrack, important side characters, (Harry Osborn, Norman Osborn, Uncle Ben, Peter's parents, etc...), future instalments, and the godamn Sony product placements. That is what Nostalgic critic forgot.
MasterMike 000 Good point, Gwen Stacey's an interesting character even if her self empowerment is a bit forced. My biggest struggle is what Peter represented in the new ones. Yeah he was cocky and confident, and that was part of the trouble for me. The first two Raimi films had Peter as the person many kids identified with, a beaten down outcast kid with ordinary issues (rather than the 'my parents are spies' issue). Because we could identify with that, we could see ourselves in Spiderman more, even if the world was slightly cheesier.
It's a shame the nostalgia critic can't see this, in time I believe everyone will see the amazing spiderman series as the mediocre mess it is. Spiderman Homecoming is great and looking like a strong new addition to the character.
MasterMike 000 basically he forgot the movie
I was considering subbing to channel awesome. Then I decided "hey, I wanna listen to nostalgia critic explain why Amazing spider man 1 and 2 are bad". Then he said that raimi's films suck. Now I realize that he is not an actual reviewer, just a comedy guy.
Well that guy's entire shtick is being a contrarian/autist extraordinaire, so that shouldn't surprise anyone.
I've seen 99 Homes, Silence and Hacksaw Ridge ages ago and this proves that Andrew Garfield doesn't need to be successful in these Spider-Man films to be the best
Delon Luu Also, The Social Network
Delon Luu hacksaw ridge is cheesy af and not good at all
Saleh Ali 😂😂😂
Saleh Ali I agree, average movie
@@salehali9541 hacksaw ridge is a masterpiece. The second half is soldiers being brutally murdered, how is this cheesey at all.
Gwen Stacy in this movie is like Padme in Revenge of the Sith, her only real purpose is to have romance scenes and die.
+TheGCritic Padme is a disgrace to the Skywalker clan. She should have been more like Leia and Rey.
Haa! Hahaha!!
+TheGCritic Not necessarily. She did help with insulating Spidey's web shooters so they wouldn't short circuit against Electro, and if she had not been there, Spidey wouldn't have been able to defeat Electro in the first place. Padme did nothing. Gwen actually had relevance.
Not saying that the movie was good, just that Gwen is no where near the sexy lamp status that Padme was.
+TheGCritic
PADME DIES IN REVENGE OF THE SITH!?
WHAT!?
+AriesX I agree, she was the most badass in Ep. 2, but other than that, it's a wonder what they were thinking.
The scene where Gwen’s speech is edited over Spidey and Rhino actually touched me.
After Civil War, I went back and rewatched the Raimi films that I grew up with. Forgot how good they are. I even don't mind Spider-Man 3. It's one of my guilty pleasures. It's not a great film, but it's not an absolute trainwreck either.
Agree.
Especially compared to this movie.
+CT41990 I like spider man 3
+CT41990 While Spider-Man 3 is easily the worst of the 3 and has it's flaws, but it still has a lot of great moments and is a blast to watch with friends.
I personally still like Maguire more than Holland
My name is Peter, so when Chris said "THIS IS MY LIFE, PETER!! I MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS, PETER!!!" I got really disturbed
Tell that to Gwen's snapped neck.
Unfunny joke is unfunny
Nope, still funny!
I don't think anyone called his dad really, complete lie to justify his inability to take criticism, despite being a 'critic'. Ironic
uh oh another fucken troll
Raimi's movie are superior
Yeah I can agree but The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was still pretty bad
Raimi's spiderman sucks even worse.
+Captain Jakemerica Definetely Agree. Spider Man 2 is my favorite superhero movie ever.
Captain Jakemerica disagreement
Honestly I would rather watch Spiderman 3 than The Amazing Spiderman 2 just out of pure nostalgia

At least Marvel will treat Spider-Man with the dignity the character deserves.
Jeff Daniels you sure about that ? Lol. It was so bad
homecoming was great you're crazy bro tom is by far the best on screen peter and spiderman
Jaylen Williams tom holland and homecoming are complete shit. But I expect Mcu fanboys to eat any shit that’s thrown at them by Disney
Jaylen Williams Don't worry about it man, Derrive is this autistic guy who doesn't like Homecoming because it didn't have any "cool swinging scenes".
Homecoming didn't make spider-man heroic enough. It was far from a great spiderman movie...it was...ok to say the least.
And you thought Spider-Man 3 was bad!
Spider-Man 3's critical reception wasn't the reason Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy was rebooted. it's because Sam and Sony didn't see eye to eye during development of Spider-Man 4 and Sam just quit. Keep in mind Sony interfered with Spider-Man 3 which is why it didn't work.
Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films didn't need to be rebooted but we got and we all suffered.
TASM villain is basically one of the rumoured SM4 villains so that is something.
RisingVictor well, we suffered from TASM 2, not TASM 1. TASM 1 was actually really good
RisingVictor a lot of people actually really liked the first TASM
RisingVictor Spider-Man 3 wasn’t that bad.
Avi Arad is literally one of the worst producers in hollywood. he is the reason why Sony is a garbage company.. (also if you don't know so Avi Arad was the guy who insisted them to make Venom into pg13 instead of rated r)
Soooo, Sony didn't really learn from SM3 for jamming in too many villains.
And now knowing that the Sinister Six movie won't happen.
Nope because sony are the ones who ruined spiderman 3 by adding Gwen , sandman , venom , Eddie Brock
More like 1.5. Rhino was in 1:30 secs, and green goblin wasn’t the main, and electro was the big baddy
Ryan Blanche It actually is.
Was Almost SM3 if mj was in this film.
"Why isn't there an E grade?"
"Because Americans."
Ok and?
there are E grades in America. it's a college grade. this grade usually means that the student never attended class. so instead of an F, they get an E
Efe Aydal 10:07
Hacksaw Ridge reference. Ironic he mentions that because Andrew Garfield is in this film and is also in Hacksaw Ridge. And in Hacksaw Ridge, Andrew Garfield plays the character who does everything that Chris Stuckmann just said.
Efe Aydal My school has an i grade
Some places do use E. Because people dont want to think they failed which is where F comes from. However its fun to give the grade to shitty movies.

@@HORSESNDOGS9 As usual, it’s stupid and annoying.
The original trilogy was better in my opinion.
Agreed.
That’s not an opinion, that’s a fact
I agree, even with that terrible third movie.
ANT 123 I respect Spiderman 3 but I don’t like Venom. Avi Arad shouldn’t have put him in there. The movie would have been much better.
Spiderman 3 >>>>>> Amazing Spiderman 2
8:21 It shows 0 dislike, yet the dislike bar clearly displays the negative area. They even messed something as simple as that up.
Spider-Man 3 is underrated. The fight scenes were great, the music was great, and the transformation into Venom was awesome. It's the dancing scene and the night club scenes that ruined it for most people.
i loved it because im an action/music/funny moments junkie and i dont really dont care about character development
It's a bland mix of too many subplots, and there's no character development at all. There's too many goofy things, and the villains are bland and have little to no intent that hasn't been used before. It has shaky fight scenes, and it didn't feel like a Spidey film at all.
Ya i like the movie except some shitty scenes like the dance one
Having rewatched it, I still loved the action scenes, but everything in between is honestly not very interesting.
@@xzenova your are talking about homecoming right ?
But no one can deny that Gwen's death scene was epic regardless of other events
SPIDER-MAN 3 IS A BETTER MOVIE THAN THIS!!!!

Jonathan Partin yes it is
The Spidey-Suit in this is the best we ever had in a movie. I'm serious, I love it!

😅
There are even more..
I could go on and on!
Actually Harry Osborne getting the disease at an earlier age is called Anticipation (genetics) it's a form of gene expansion. So that is rather quite accurate, the movie as a whole is still terrible though.
It’s absurd that it magically appears once he knows about it, that’s the point
He doesn't get the disease at an earlier age, he starts having the symptoms at the same age Norman did, and yet somehow Norman lived for like 30-40 years more, but Harry's gonna die very soon.
@@frankmerker630 It also doesn't help when his disease "comes and goes" as he magically stops dying from it all of sudden at the ending of the movie.
This used to be such a guilty pleasure movie for me.
But I've seen Homecoming now and I can never go back.
well Homecoming isn't guilty pleasure though :D
Not at all haha. Homecoming is just a genuinely good movie.

That's the point of Spider-Man's character though
I don't hate it, but the Raimi trilogy is quite a bit better IMO.
Chevy And Mopar Fan true minus spider man 3.
Even Spider Man 3 is better than 3. No doubt about it.
About the man in the shadows. They actually do reveal his identity in this movie, but you have to be a hardcore Marvel fan in order to know who he is. Not a hardcore Spider-Man fan, a hardcore Marvel fan.
Here's a hint: He's not a Spider-Man villain.
Chevy And Mopar Fan Nice profile picture, and name.
Spider-Man3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ASP 1&2
This film was a fucking train wreck. Even the deleted scenes are disgusting.
+TheJofuss Actually, there are some pretty powerful scenes, like the part where Peter finds out his dad is alive and Andrew Garfield delivers some kick-ass acting. Check it out!
+TheJofuss Even the term overcrowded doesn't explain how bad this film was. The script was probably co-written by George Lucas.
+Jonny Morgan I feel sorry for Andrew Garfield because I feel he was a great Spidey but Sony just want to cram so much into a film.
+Phoenix0501 R acting is great in the scene but the concept is stupid. He could not Harv survived that plane crash.
+Sonikkts comment of the day
I think most of us will agree that Andrew Garfield was a great Spider-Man but the plot and writing in these movies were subpar
Absolutely!
@@ytuser_3122 first one was well received
This is a bad movie, but damn that is the best Spider-Man costume in any movie.
It looks kinda wired on set,
civil wars costume is better tasm 2 suit sucked ass
+TheLastLaugh Killer nah, the tasm 2 costume beats it
+TheLastLaugh Killer Amazing Spider Man 2 beats Civil War and Raimi and Tom Holland's version suit comes second and Amazing Spider Man 1 is last.
JTheMovieMaker That was my favorite for a while, but I kinda like the eyes better on the ASM2 suit.
6:05 My goodness the suit in this movie is so beautiful and perfect. What a damn shame it just went to waste
+juanandlife The best suit in any film including Civil War. definitely. Also, Andrew was great. There were a lot of things to like even if it still had problems. Bashing parties are getting out of hand lately more than ever.
+sanyrub specially with TAS movies. It's a trend that in order to be cool and "intelligent" these days you have to destroy these movies and state somehow that the Raimi movies are masterpieces. WTF???
I know right? The amazing spiderman 2 suit was perfect
I would have thought so too if the chest spider was a little higher.
José Sarango I find this Chris´ revisits particularly annoying. Like what´s the point? He had already reviewed all of them. He is only doing it to downgrade the films even more. Maybe because these things are only acceptable if they come from Marvel? I don´t know, but it is very annoying. I stand by what I always thought: Andrew was perfect, Emma and Sally Field were great, great acting pieces, the best suit, and many things that could be said. These comic book movies are not THAT diffferent from one another as to make it seem like some are TERRIBLE while others are masterpieces. Just no. This smells a lot like fanboyism.
Fuck these TASM movies...Tom Holland will fill the void in our hearts...thank goodness
I feel sorry for Andrew Garfield he tried his best to be Spiderman/Peter Parker and did a decent job at it but seems he was the only one who put an effort into the movie.
Watching how poorly Andrew Garfield got treated as Spider-Man, made me realize that playing Spider-Man isn't all that's cracked up to be.
All credits should go to sony and their dirty milking
+Hectorferjr2 I guess the problem with spiderman story telling is you need to know and understand the portrayal of peter parker and spiderman, not just one of them, cause the difference in life between those two are one of other big factors that makes the character interesting. Andrew is great at becoming spiderman, but as peter parker...not quite.
Plus there are just too many "stupid" stuffs in tasm movies, it's painful to watch it as a spiderman fan.
Well we don't know if Spiderman Homecoming will be good guaranteed yet.
Why is Raimi's trilogy even being compared to this? Raimi's films are in a different league!
Spider-Man 3 isn’t great either, but the only real problems with that film are the haphazard plot and that Venom is kind of shitty. It didn’t try to turn Spider-Man into Batman with powers.
@@thefilmwatcher1302 NO spiderman was turned into "batman with powers" at all in any of the live action versions. Spiderman 3 wasn't a bad movie at all, it was good even with it's heavy problems with pacing, too many characters/subplots, and tone (the evil peter dance). It's nowhere near as bad as people say. And The Amazing Spiderman movie (first one) is overall a solid enjoyable fun movie, maybe even good with amazing modern visual sci-fi techy aesthetics that fit our contemporary times. It's a great and fun time to watch despite it's issues. Amazing Spiderman 2 is ridiculously bad tho.
Yeah, I agree. The Raimi trilogy is WAY out of TASM’s league.
@@thefilmwatcher1302 again its bcz of sony...

+Shaun Henesy yes it is dumb fuck people and critics still rate that movie higher than all the other Spider-Man movies so far
Guess the critics are always right
I disagree when you said you didn't feel for Gwen's character when she dies. This movie was horse-shit, but I actually felt for her character at that moment.
Everyone would feel for her if she was taken to there and died. The only factor that keep me from feeling for her is that she got herself there for no proper reason at all, other than she chose to be there.
I aalso didn´t fell foe her. I felt for Peter instead.
Ι didn't give a fuck really... And I'm a bitch with movies. Easy to sadden I suppose

+Ryan R. Your opinion. Not a fact. Most opinions of that film are that it was a terrible film. Deal with it.
Ah yes, this movie. The trailers made this look AMAZING and I was really behind Jamie Fox as Electro.
I feel like this movie would have been amazing had I been 12 years old again seeing the first Maguire film.
A shame those same trailers spoiled Gwen's death and the final shot of the movie.
+Pat Rex 11 I remember watching all of the trailers for that film (I was naive then) and literally nothing was new in the cinema at all, completely ruined it for myself
+Charlie Bell hell, there were even a couple of things in the trailer that didn't show up in the film! Glad we'll never have any over stuffed sequel set ups again cough cough, fant4stic and B v S.
+Sonikkts Good thing this movie was even better than the first Spiderman.
I always thought that the trailers were terrible. I wasn't even excited for the movie when it came out. And after the mediocre reviews, I didn't see it until it was on Redbox, and even then I didn't pay much attention to it.

One of the things I absolutely hated about this movie is the stupid subplot involving peter's parents. Not only was it done terribly, it never was supposed to be a main focus of spider man story.
+Michael Singleton yeah it goes against the essence of his character and makes him less relatable. I think they were SHIELD agents in the comics but it's not like they could have depicted that due to rights issues anyway.
I bet if they actually made a 3rd film, they're gonna rehash "Peter unraveling his parents mystery" again and it will lead to the discovery of some plot device that helps defeat the villains.
+Nathan Miller I take it you're one of those people who that guy mentioned wanted more instead of a good movie.
I hated it too, maybe for a future sequel it would have been fine, but it took up such a huge chunk of the movie and I didn't really give a shit about Peter's parents to begin with
+Jonathan Gonzales lol roasted
"Electro plays the itsy bitsy spider song". So? Green Goblin sings it in the first movie...
+Psychotic Ninja Yes. But at least it wasn't in dub-step.
Great point. It shows how biased people are against this film. Also, he just nonchalantly dismissed the power GS death scene but said nothing about how Mary Jane survived the bridge scene without so much as a scratch, despite falling like 100 feet after Spidey dropped her. And let's not talk about the GG being hurt by people on the bridge throwing groceries at him.
+Bruce Leeroy True. Lost a lot of respect for Chris with this.
+Putamadre Lucas Don't blame Chris too much. He's been influenced by the dark lord of the sixth named the FlickPick.

Nathan Winters whoa, had no idea I was so offensive. A lot of those movies I haven't even seen. They are bad though. By saying it was the Room, I more meant specifically that there were unnecessary, nonsensical plots with bad acting. The chaos of it all gave me a Room vibe personally.

I disliked The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actually, I was not offended. But comparing this movie to The Room is evil.

I honestly love Mary Jane way more than Gwen Stacy in the movies and never understood why people gave MJ so much slack that she was a damsel in distress, I mean, damn, the lady was just a regular citizen and was always against superpowered villains.
MJ is always getting captured needing to be saved by peter all the time. Gwen stacy is a far superior love interest.
So was Gwen, except she could actually handle herself instead of constantly requiring rescue.
@@gabyzico669 Thats a very dumb statement you made. She is not supposed to be a superhero.
I have to admit i like both of them equally, 'cause the chemistry between Toby Mcguire and Kirsten Dunst was great, just like the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
i think both Emma and Kirsten are great actresses, and they both enjoyed their roles and took it seriously
My ranking
1. Spider-Man 2
2. Spider-Man 1
3. Amazing Spider-Man
4. Spider-Man 3
5. Amazing Spider-Man 2
6. Amazing Spider-Man 3... oh wait that got cancelled... at least Homecoming is coming out this Friday.
McCarney 420 I completely agree with this list.
Suzanne Dupras What?
Perfect list, no complaints here
Spider-Man 3 was good, u just like to bandwagon with critics
If Joel Shumacher made this movie, there'd be way more color and lots of nipples. Lots and lots of spider-nipples.
And a Spider Credit Card
+ParaChomp or spider credit card
+ParaChomp And a famous actor in blue-face making a fool out of himself whilst cracking puns....
OH WAIT!!!!
I just had the best/worst idea ever. A Joel Shumacher film adaptation of the Spiderman musical. One of the biggest mistakes in the history of Broadway.
8 nipples to be exact.
hey remember when he liked this movie lol
Every time I walk out of a theater, I enjoyed the movie. But then I reflect on it through out the week and see how bad or good it was. Except Fant4stic, fuck Fant4stic.
ikr
same
He never liked this movie. He said it was OK.
i do, he even said that the movie is better than what it was rated on Rotten Tomatoes.
This review is so funny. I rewatch everytime to have a little fun time. Though it's bad that the movie went bad, I'm a spiderman fan boy too. But man this review is so genuinely funny
It’s not funny and it’s not true.
I know I'm gonna get flack for saying this... You thought Peter was an oblivious idiot in SM3? I'd actually argue that Gwen in ASM 2 is even MORE of an oblivious idiot for the reasons Chris stated. Why? Because unlike Peter in Raimi's first two movies who was properly fleshed out and developed, Gwen had no character to her in ASM 1. And as Chris said, for some reason she just has to be at the most dangerous place regardless her not having any kind of feeling of "Maybe I should stay out of the way here." She keeps grabbing the metal bar when there's electricity flying everywhere, she completely defies Peter's demand to stay put, and then when the Green Goblin shows up she just walks out into the open towards Peter and Harry..... WHY doesn't she at least try to keep a safe distance from them? Oh right, because it's Gwen Stacy who's famous for her death which was only done to please the fans who want everything to be 100% accurate to the source material.
Joe Tufano don't forget, in the asm2 game, Gwen isn't even in the plot.
+Miles still the old one Yeah, but I thought that was trying to go back to the plot about Peter Parker hunting Uncle Ben's killer in that one. I haven't played the game, but I'll only believe that she wasn't good in the game if they tried to shoehorn her in for so little time...
Its the same problem i have with lois lane... She's ALWAYS everywhere superman is no matter what... Imagine alfred always knowing and bein everywhere batman was... You'd be like tf goin on?
You realize she was already outside when Harry showed up, right?
I've turned off only three movies without completing them. This was one of of the three.
Bruce Fruechte What are the other two?
Bumping jonnoweb's comment because I'm nosy. Can you tell us the other two films you turned off?
Come on Bruce, what were the other two?
Bruce, what were the other two!??!?!?!
Come on Bruce. I can't move on with my life until I know.
I am a big fan of Tobey Maguire as Spiderman/Peter Parker. Andrew Garfield, not so much, but that might be because the movies sucked. Tom Holland was excellent in Civil War. Just the most perfect casting choice. Unfortunate that he got so little screen time. I'm looking forward to his stand alone film.
+roseslikemusic even though Tom was alot like Garfield.
+roseslikemusic I just wish he was taller.
*****
Holland acts like Garfield's Spiderman.
***** he really does.
+AriesX Just a bit, Garfield came across as dickish and even unlikeable at times (he made quips even at times Spiderman wouldnt), Holland as annoying (which is a good thing for Spiderman), and he looks a lot more like Peter Parker than Garfield.
I just came back to see how savage this was.
What bothers me the most from TASM 2 is the fact that it opens with scenes about Peter's parents struggling to do something implicitly really important to the plot which will be revealed somewhere later in the movie, and when that moment finally shows up, it turns out only to be a video of Richard Parker telling whomever he's sending the video to about "Oscorp is bad, the cure only works for my DNA". That was all the untold story that had been built up from the first movie, that's it.
The first mistake of that scene is, it did not advance the story whatsoever. Peter had refused to give his blood to Harry even before he knew that the cure only worked for him, so what's the point of him knowing all of that shit his father telling him about? Then, the next act we saw after Peter found that video was the supposedly epic conclusion with battles and shits, and having the knowledge of what his father told him did not help him at all in the battle. So, wtf is that vidro all about?
Second, sending that video was just stupid meaningless thing to do. What would that video do... anything... at all? Would sending the video to a secret subway help anyone? Whom did Richard Parker send that video to? Why is there even a secret subway and only Richard Parker knew about it? It's not like he owned that damned place, right? Or, did he? If so, how the F? And on top of that, Richard Parker gave his life for the sake of doing exactly that useless thing. It is the highest possible stupidity ever.
Third, the revelation fron that video was supposedly to be mind blowing surprising or so, but nope. Not at all.
It is now all goodbye to TASM series, fortunately. This series will always be remembered as the lowest point of Spider-Man cinematic career in the age where making a really good superhero movie was in its highest point of possibility ever.
"Why is there even a secret subway and only Richard Parker knew about it?"
I thought that was the secret subway used by Roosevelt?
impalabeeper Yea, but it has been modified with some modern days technology, so..? Idk, it's just nonsense.
+Ginanjar Putu Wijaya Indeed, that always bothered me. Peter ran into it by chance, so he couldn't have been meant for him, and since the video clearly _finishes uploading when he arrives_ (I guess it was just floating around in the air all these years), no one else has been there at all since their deaths.
Plus, what's even the purpose of the video? What's it going to do? It has no incriminating evidence against Norman, it has no valuable information for anyone who's not Peter (and only right after finding out about Harry's disease), and it does nothing to advance the plot.
Think the whole purpose of that scene was to establish that Peter refusing the blood transfusion wasn't wrong and why Harry got mutated. Like ok, so is this supposed to wow the audience? I didn't find any good storytelling in that scene.
And Harry had access to the serum he wanted the whole time? So all the quarrel he had with Spider-man was unnecessary? It doesn't make sense for him to hate Spider-man either. The injection was a mistake as Spider-man predicted and warned him. But even if Spider-man agreed to it Harry will be mutated anyway and end up hating Spider-man for agreeing. WTF kind of story are they trying to tell...
And yet Nostalgia Critic defends it...
.....WHAT THE FUCK!
Because it's "dark and gritty"
Say that to zods snapped neck.
That was two years ago, he doesn't anymore
+Practical Daz Advice Because, unlike Stuckmann , he actually acknowledges how great the movie is and is smart about it.
Andrew Garfield’s performance and characterization in No Way Home was so good it tricked people into thinking this movie was actually halfway decent.
Spider-Man movies rated (my opinion!)
Spider-Man: A
Spider-Man 2: A+
Spider-Man 3: B-
The Amazing Spider-Man: C+
The Amazing Spider-Man 2: C-
Spider-Man Homecoming: B
Spider-Man Far From Home: B+
BETTER just fuck yourself ! Sipiderman 3 never stand in frony of far from home.Shit
@Target op ! If you were paying attention, I gave Spider-Man far from home a better rating than Spider-Man 3.
CBL 3000 far from home is better than Spider-Man 2
@Mason Wright how so?
Mason Wright the villain in that movie is essentially PowerPoint as his and they continued to make Spiderman about ironman. I hate MCU Spiderman aka ironman jr. MCU Spiderman never struggles like Raimi’s Spider-Man. People just love to ride the MCU hype train. They’re just guilty pleasure movies. The Spider-Man trilogy made Spiderman feel like a real person just like TDK trilogy did with Batman.
I hated when the final battle kept cutting back to the airplane back and forth out of NOWHERE just to have completely POINTLESS "tension" when really the movie just has ADD lmao
+Issac Salazar also Gwen & Peter have more screentime than the ACTUAL Spider-Man
+Issac Salazar which is the point that it mainly focuses on peter's life than the action.
+sonicdihedgehog1 if it was GOOD than i wouldn't care, but it didn't feel like the characters of Gwen Stacy & Peter Parker, it felt like Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone just acting
Issac Salazar not really. they really were the characters. Garfield was more of the 616 romita version and emma was like gwen .
+sonicdihedgehog1 i respectfully disagree, mostly about Andrew, if he didn't have the pointless long lost father storyline (which could've been over and done in the first one) & kind of terrible dialog (His & Gwen's banter was CRINGE) he would have ALOT more to actually do as a character
You know how people say things get better with age? Yeah... I feel like this film does the opposite, it just gets worse with time.
Literally, fuck this film. It's a prime example of "Let's hold the rights even longer!" As you said, the film tried to develop a Universe in one film. It doesn't work that way, it takes time. While many would disagree, Raimi's Spider-Man 3 was a better constructed film.
Yes, I prefer Raimi's film because they were good in general comic fan (Yes, before you ask. I read comics. Spider-Man is actually my favorite hero of all time. ) or not. They're timeless, watch'em today & it'll still work well. The movies have heart, which something The Amazing Spider-Man series lacked, they're forgettable. Funny, because people doesn't even acknowledge TASM series. It was a "Done & go".
AS2 didnt have story for fuck sake, tons of scene just went nowhere (oh they are chasing Gwen for stealing classified data.... oh she escaped fuck it, not mention it ever again), main storyline was Gwen going to Oxford, so fucking whaaaaat, shes dead!!!!!!!!.... fucking trash, not going to watch it ever again.... I agree with you completely SM3 was faaaaaar better movie, it had coherent story from start to finish..... people just bitch about it for the sake of it
I agree with you and Spider man 2 for me is the best in the trilogy that "TRAIN SCENE" is so epic!!!
It’s so true, when amazing Spider-Man was announced everyone was like Oh my god they’re rebooting Spider-Man,no way! And then after the film they brought out so much merchandise and loads of kids had them
But now the trilogy is completely forgotten
This review is HIGHLY rewatchable 😂😂😂
More rewatchable than the movie honestly
@@jarednavarrete1740 LOL you aren’t lyin
I actually thought this movie was okay, t wasn't terrible. It's actually my 3rd favorite SpiderMan movie. The action was great, the music was great (What's your problem with the music Chris?) and most of the performances were pretty good, especially Garfield, Stone, and DeHaan; I liked those characters, even though most people didn't. (Though I will admit, Jamie Foxx as Electro was TERRIBLE!) Giamatti was weak, (but I don't even count him as a real villain), and the story was a mess, but I was exited to see the Sinister Six on the big screen for the first time, and everything else this universe was willing to offer. I was still willing to give it a chance. But, because most weren't, I'll never get to see it, which I'm kinda bummed about.
The good news is, Marvel's got SpiderMan now (sort of) which was always a dream of mine. And Holland nailed it as SpiderMan in Civil War. So I'm still happy with how things turned out.
The music is fucking cringe-worthy, dude. Are you telling me that dubstep overlaid with angry whispers is...good? What is wrong with you?
The action fucking sucks!!!
+Enthios lol i guess we aren't allowed fucking opinions anymore
Good for you dude. This movie is actually my second favorite Spidey film even though I have to admit at the time it was a disappointment because of how good the first Amazing Spiderman was. Fanatic haters can go fuck themselves
This is actually my favorite Spidey film, in terms of acting and story. I think the music is unique and, although weird, pretty epic; and the action I wouldn't consider good, but passable... at least it didn't feel like watching a cartoon like the first ASM action. But you can't beat the choreography of Spider-Man 2 or that Danny Elfman theme. I'm so psyched for a Marvel Studios take on Spider-Man.
Your Harry impression was hilarious!
John Startop I know!
No it wasn’t, it was like nails on a chalkboard.
I really dislike this movie, so bad.
Only worth is Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.
I choose Spider-Man 3 all the way over Amazing Spider-Man series.
+Riley Freeman I mean her casting, otherwise yeah some scenes with that character were dumb.
+Kal-El fan 49 Hell yeah
I loved spiderman 3, the amazing spiderman movies were shit.
Spider-Man 3 even though I saw it when I was pretty young, I'll have to say it was shit watching it at my age now. The Amazing Spider-Man 1 is just good and the 2nd one is not good, but too me Spider-Man 3 is unfoegetable. The AS2 at least has extremely good affects
Good thing Marvel and the Russo Brothers made Spiderman awesome again. Tom Holland was fantastic as the web slinger.
Emma Stone personally wrote Gwen's graduation speech.
This is the first "Spider-Man" film to be filmed entirely in New York [State] and the largest film production ever in New York City.
They never should have made this movie or the first one.
They actually had plans for the sequels of the original Spiderman trilogy, but because Sam Rami decided to leave, they decided to hit the reboot button.
well actually the story is that Raimi was really disappointed with the first script they made for "Spider-Man 4" and apparently Sony would have wanted just to do the reboot in the first place, so Raimi gave up and said, that just go ahead with your reboot that you would want to do anyway.
But ye, Sony really fucked up with this character , should have just let Marvel Studios the rights back right after Spider-Man 3.
watch them reboot F4 again before it comes home to marvel lol
Ivan Cabrera you know what they say about opinions...
The suit was great in this one. Gwen and the goblin ending felt like we got an ending to another movie.
Original spiderman 1 & 2 are my fav's.
Amazing seemed like a mess of setting up the future.
MCU spiderman films are entertaining, but where are the stakes? Never any real weight.
I respect your opinion, but I feel like there “Isn’t any weight” because it’s a much younger Spider-Man. Although I do agree that stakes was an issue in homecoming. I felt like far from home was a step in the right direction, but that’s just my opinion
Mcu destroyed Spiderman. They turned it into teen rom com.
I’m confused. First people complain the MCU always has these massive world ending stakes and then when Homecomimg has a smaller stakes and more focused story, people say the stakes need to be higher. Choose people!
"Sony IS the Green Goblin." So true.
my favourite Spider-Man movies in order:
1. Spider-Man 2
2. Spider-Man
3. Spider-Man: Homecoming
4. Spider-Man 3
5. The Amazing Spider-Man
6. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
This is the only way to rate these movies
What about Into The Spider-verse dog?
The better list is
1. Spiderman 2
2. Amazing Spiderman 1
3. Spiderman
4. Amazing Spiderman 2
5. Spiderman 3
6. Spiderman homecoming
7. Spiderman far from home
The mcu spiderman is a complete bastardized version not even worthy to be called spiderman films.
kyoki86 Na
@@kyoki86 the mcu spidey films are pretty good movies but as Spider Man and/or superhero movies, not really. Those two films, for me, are teen romantic comedies. And NO i didn't get this from HiTop films. I really got this from myself. I'm just so sick and tired of people saying that i got this from HiTop Films!
You know what, I've got a feeling you watched "everything wrong with the amazing spider-man 2" before making this video.
"Gwen Stacy is just there, she's completely useless", although she was the one in the first movie who evacuated all those people in Oscorp and probably saved their lives, she gave her father the antidote, she was the one that helped in the 2nd movie, to defeat Electro, she brought the electricity back up and saved hundreds of lives on those 2 planes, I mean yeah compared to MJ that was only there to be saved by spider-man, Gwen is useless.
you have to understand Chris and the fanatic haters. They have to keep making up arguments to say how genious (??) are the Raimi films and how bad the Webb films are
Preach!
Fuck you and TASM
GX2re Fuck you too!
He has a point though. While I'd agree with everything said about Amazing Spiderman 1, Amazing Spiderman 2 seems to be criticised just because they can criticise it. Amazing Spiderman 2 was a huge improvement from the first one, and almost as good as Spiderman 2, at least to me.
Gwen Stacy has never done anything but become a fridge case in the comics. I don't see why people are complaining about this. Generally the best thing about this AS2 is the character bits between Parker and Gwen. I agree Gwen was stupid though.
This review was HILARIOUS! You really went in on it Chris :). Also I wanted to thank you for all these reviews and your take on every film through various perspectives. Not only was I able to widen my selection of films to watch but it also made me appreciate films for so many other things like character development, cinematography, angles etc.
He has nothing to say about “character development, camera angles, cinematography and the like. 🤦♂️ And whenever he does review something outside of blog blockbusters, he comes off as ignorant.
I really hated this movie
Me too.
I literally can't watch it. I have symptons of OCD so it feels incomplete when I watch it as the whole movie is setting up something that doesn't happen and it just gets me annoyed.
@Shadow Oskay Someone's triggered... Calm down.
The Amazing Spider-Man was worthless shit. Fact.
Jack Fern and FUCK YOU DERP!
Harry did a great job when he met Spider-Man, when Spider-Man left, that scene rocked, he nailed it, when he got angry, just, ah, it was a good scene for me
Tom Holland = Tobey Maguire > Andrew Garfield
+Stefan Kovacevic ikr we just saw a few scenes of Tom Holland and everyone's like OMG BEST SPIDEY!1!1!1!1!11
Tom Holland had a lot of dramatic acting to do in "The Imossible," and he was GREAT.
Uhm, Tom Holland based his role on Andrew Garfield bro.
+Nazrat84 and Tobey his looks and he acts like him.
Deric James Tom Holland doesn't remotely act like Tobey, and I don't see any resemblance visually.
I actually kinda enjoy this movie. Still, the Raimi films are p much better.
+Tamaki742 I agree. In fact, spider man 2 is my favorite superhero movie ever, and spider man is definetely in my top ten.
tobey will always be my Spider-Man
Vaurien Scapegrace yeah whatever
@@mysticalace1337 licking it stfu
Homecoming spiders age.. with amazing spider wittyness and the way the action is shot with tobey as Spider-Man
Me too
While Hans Zimmer worked on the soundtrack< it was mainly pharrell williams that fucked it up.
The Spiderman in this movie basically acts like Deadpool in fact less lives were probably lost in the highway action scene in Deadpool than in TASM 2's opening.
+Shawn Pool not really. deadpool killed alot more people than that.
sonicdihedgehog1 I forgot to say innocent civilains not the criminals Deadpool was killing.
Shawn Pool but in a highway deadpool probably caused alot of casualties.
sonicdihedgehog1 Good point but safe to say less than the truck crashing into those police cars and as well as the huge pile up.
Anyway no one knows for sure.
Shawn Pool actually the police cars crashed into the truck .
This movie is absolutely terrible. Thank the lord marvel and Disney have people that know what they're doing
Disney? Try Sony.
+The Darkfrost Disney bought the rights.
sOcs Razor Sony still involved Disney marvel will probably mess it up.
Robert Kelly Sony has given every creative freedom to Marvel. From casting to choice of director to story. Its all Marvel
Aquaman Sony is producing it also they will get at least 50% of the Box office .
Spider-Man 3 is superior to this and it's predecessor in almost every way. And unfortunately that movie gets a lot of hate, for some reason.
Nemo 2003 Agreed, sure it has a few writing problems and venom should've been left for spiderman 4(thanks, Sony, ya assholes), but aside from that its actually really good and almost as good as the first two, look at the birth of sandman scene.
Mr. Symbiote. That's my favourite scene of the whole movie.
Yeah the score and the scene itself is beautiful
Spiderman likes cookies with nuts. That Spiderman movie
Spiderman 3 is better than both TASM films, but that doesn't mean it's great. It's still pretty damn bad.
The “we have you now” bit was prolly yours best acting/voice acting but yet! Good job bro didn’t think you’d be getting better!
Sony is like the activision of movies lol
no sony is the ea of movies
Even Ea have fare share of quality compare to Sony.
At least they saved James Bond though. They fucked it up with Quantum and Spectre, but hey! Casino Royale and Skyfall were amazing!
And Fox is the EA lol
For the love of gosh.. ITS NOT THAT BAD!!!! Just enjoy the movie it's made for fun not seriousness or to be intriguing its there to entertain and the special effects and action are stellar and I personally think the Parker's backstory is very interesting. So just enjoy the movie.
Spiderman 3 was better.
I enjoyed it. McGuire Raimi fanboy lovers brainwashing campaign for fans to be ashamed of liking this movie won't work
José Sarango Were not trying to make you feel ashamed, it's your fault if you actually think we're making you feel bad.
Amazing Spider-Man was a mess. But Andrew Garfield was a genius
That Green Goblin impression nearly killed me 😆
