Something I “drunkenly” yelled out while watching this crap in theaters - I didn’t realize that it was supposed to be what happened! It would’ve fit the motif that Peter always ends up hurting the ones he loves while trying to be helpful to someone else.
See, that would have been good. Though it also deserves to be the focus of it's own movie and not crammed into one with a different super villain. Someone like the Green Goblin needs at least one movie to build up in the background before making him the focus. At least if you're doing this whole connected universe thing.
Just re-watched this and I like to think Andrew Garfield watched this and took Critic's words to heart. Then he went out there and absolutely nailed it in No Way Home to the point Sony is considering The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
I watched no way home in theaters with my good friend and I felt heart pangs but in a good way when Andrew caught mj and redeemed himself in his eyes. Even if they don’t make more Garfield and Maguire spidey movies, this felt like the book end they deserved that we hadn’t gotten.
I still think Gwen's death scene is one of the more powerful moments this movie had to offer. I remember seeing it in theaters (I was a teenager at the time) and I was bawling my eyes out. Gwen has always been my favorite spider gal and to see one of the best Spider-Man comic book scenes come to life, it really hit me hard.
This movie is what killed my trust in trailers, the shot of Spidey fighting the Rhino in a badass starting a badass action sc-- *cuts straight to credits*
Driver is my personal favorite BS trailer of all time. They advertised it like it was the next fast and furious movie lol If you've ever seen Driver that's not just misleading it's a straight up lie ;p
Easy fix to the scene where Peter tells Harry he can't have his blood "So, we had an incident not long ago with a guy who did basically the same thing, but he turned into a giant psychotic lizard. I do NOT want to take the, let's be honest, 99% chance you'll turn into a giant psychotic spider."
Or, you know... "My blood is radioactive. With underlying health problems and a compromised immune system, you could very well die of radiation poisoning." Or perhaps more simply "If something as small as our blood types not matching comes up, you could contract several more problems than we cure."
Some people have mentioned this before, but Electro's design was based off his appearance in the Ultimate comics, just wanted another voice to shed some light on it
@@battlion507 Like a lot of Ultimate Marvel fans, I stopped reading it after Ultimatum. I'm surprised the universe kept going for any significant period of time after that.
I mean he’s the only one who’s able to constantly get quality pictures of the guy, so it’s reasonable to think if you follow Parker you’ll find the spider
I get a strange “the room” vibe with Harry in this movie. Like when he says he’s dying I just think of “ I got the results of the test back. I definitely have breast cancer”
18:27 another Deleted scene that came BEFORE this one. Harry and Peter talk and Peter finds out that Harry's father had been spying on his family ever since Peter was young. So many movies are ruined when things are just constantly cut
They cut some really good scenes from the first Amazing Spider-Man as well. There is one where Doc Connors comes to Peter's house to try to console him after Uncle Ben's death, and it not only helps to establish Peter and Connor's friendship, but also helps to humanize Connors when he is in his Lizard form. The movie isn't as good without it.
@@dislike_button33 restoring enough scenes to make this film coherent would make it way too long. It's too long already. This script is just fundamentally broken. It needed a complete top to bottom rewrite to focus on a central plot and excise the Kurtzman stank.
To be fair, the movie needed to be cut of more of the unnecessary fatty parts, this movie was ruined because not enough was cut. The screenwriter did not focus on a primary plot, which is why Spiderman 3 wasn't well-received either. The most of newly introduced villain characters you want in a film is two, we got four (Hobgoblin, Electro, Rhino, and Oscorp scientists), one is preferred, but two is doable. You want a single plot, we got way more than that and none of them intertwine, so that needed trimming as well.
23:39 I really did think AG did a good job with this scene & after watching No Way Home it feels a lot better. AG's acting can have a lot of weight behind it & I think both scenes were on the spot.
@@thedoif2540 actually yes. Ultimate Spiderman came out in 2005. Electro was completely blue, no clothing, and featureless besides his electricity sparks on his body when he was full charged up. However when not using his powers, he was a white completely bald man with a long sleeve black shirt that had the shape of a lightning bolt cut in the neckline, extremely similar to what he wore in the movie. The movie combined his Ultimate normal look and fully charged look
Coronavirus puts the world at a standstill: "Eh, we got Animal Crossing AND Persona 5 Royal. We'll be just fine." NC's wall is a different color: " *HIT THE PANIC BUTTON!!! IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!* "
Peter would have cloned Captain Stacy, and other people who had died. It sounded really dumb, and like Webb had even less control than the first two films
@Brandon Brooks well........ you didn't see the execution.... Maybe it would have been good... But yeah the concept sounds really bad. But do you have a source?
@You Wish I don't disagree that SM3 built up the storylines. I thought it was well done until they did two additions like Eddie and Gwen where it started to feel a little overstuffed. Even if Eddie wasn't done well, they at least gave him a clear motive for revenge. Gwen felt shoehorned. I also wasn't a fan of the amnesia story since it's a lame plot device. I didn't hate SM3, but I definitely disliked ASM and ASM2.
Reminds me of Smallville season 3 where Lionel Luther had fatal liver disease that he lived with for decades that was miraculous cured by something in Clark's blood in season 4.
The movie even tried to be clever with Gwen’s death by having the spinning clock hands stopping at hour 1 and minute 21 as a reference to ASM 121, Gwen’s death issue.
@Mr Sack What do you mean "tried to be clever"? It was a nice easter egg! Are we even hating on easter eggs now, just to find out something to complain about?
Supposedly, the 3rd film was scrapped when Garfield left Sonys CEO hanging at a Spiderman 2 press conference. That was the last straw for Sony after Spiderman 2 didn't perform so well.
Lol, looked it up. It was actually a press conference in Rio de Janiero anouncing Spiderman 3. He was "sick" after the long flight. It came out after the Sony hack.
Thought: while Peter is reaching for Gwen, keep the triumphant music going, thinking she'll survive. But then you hear the crack, and everything stops: the music stops, Peter's face changes from relief to horror as he realizes everything has gone wrong. It would have been way more gut wrenching.
wouldn't have worked everyone knows Gwen dies in the comics. And since there was also the green goblin around.... yeah, no. I personally didn't know about Gwen's death at the time, but if I knew a bit about the character, I would have known.
Jim Carrey - a former "in living color" star who plays a nerd who idolizes the hero, gets turn down, then turns into the villain stricken with revenge Jamie Foxx - a former "in living color" star who plays a nerd who idolizes the hero, gets turn down, then turns into the villain stricken with revenge
Carlos Lopez-Ortega Oh I’m blaming Sony alright. I love Black Cat. If there’s one thing I want in the MCU (besides seeing my fanfic hero in a movie) is seeing the relationship between Spider-Man and Black Cat. If they went that route we could see Spider-Man trying to juggle two relationships, his school life, and his superhero life.
I always found it odd how they decided to spoil the final scene of the movie with the movie's own commercials. Every commercial highlighted that charge forward between Spider-man and the Rhino, which led me to eagerly wait for when they actually had their awesome fight scene in the movie, which I initially imagined it would be Spider-man VS the Rhino for most of the movie. When I actually saw the movie in theaters, I got to the scene where he fights Rhino and then BAM: End credits. I was so disappointed, especially since I had some fond memories of those two duking it out the Animated Series back in the 90's, what with their witty banter they had going on throughout it. I was hoping it would be an amazing realization of their animated antics in a live-action setting, and we don't even get to see them hit each other once.
@@legoking6165 Idk about Italian, but Turkish Spiderman 100% is real. Captain America and a Wrestler have to team up to beat evil Spiderman. Cinema Snob covered it once long in the past I believe.
little trivia: the shadowy man was played by the actor who was given the gun and accidentaly shot Brandon Lee to death during The Crow's filming. The incident naturally traumatized him and he took a break from acting for a few years. He passed away a couple of years ago,so whatever plans they had for his character(which went nowhere as everything else in this movie did...),it died with him.
@@michaelthomas5433 think the thing that keeps getting over looked when looking back at stuff like that was that the ideal "man" pictured in theis comics weren't that 3D eather. also comics were 100% marketed towards boys, and its not really a revelation that girls aint that into stories about brute fighting. It does sound weird tho.
@Dauda András she was the star of her own series where she broke the 4th wall and had insane stories. She did it before deadpool. Shes based on hulk but in now way is she just his side character

OH MY GOD Felecity Jones is in this. I completely forgot. She would've been a great Black Cat but unfortunately this movie is so bad it ruined any chances of that.
And if I'm not mistaken, Rhino from the Ultimate Universe was just a guy with a big cyber suit like the one from this movie only more animal like and weaponized
The only good things to come out of the Ultimate universe were Miles Morales and the Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury callout (seriously, the series name-dropped him before the Avengers series, though we sadly did not get Steve Buscemi Bruce Banner).
@Fred Anthony to be fair, they barely showed him in motion in the suit, and hell, that's probably a prototype all things considered, I mean it's not like rhino had much time... actually, imagine seeing rhino evolve his suit over a movie franchise ala iron man but focusing on pure ground combat, that would be awesome, seriously, they should have taken more time with that movie so that we could see wether or not rhino had another suit in the works.
@@ChannelAwesome good choice to get the old backdrop back. well, not get back, per say, more like spending a long-ass time painting the backdrop to look as perfect and accurate to the old critic's backdrop as humanely possible... sheez. i made that a little too intense.

I can see quarantine effects in this vid. The wall change to them being at home after a glitchy recording of a previous in-studio opening; the limited actors present; Tamera being used on her own like a sent-in video a’ la Mystery Science Theater 3000. Very creative solutions. Keep up the good work and stay healthy.
if you notice they didnt show them together it went back and forth, till the end but as we seen in AVGN Nightmare on Elm Street I think James was able to edit himself in the scene 4 times
now that you mention it holy shit yea! i kinda felt it was off but honestly hadnt figured out why, doesnt detract from the videos enjoyment factor but its interesting to see!
She didn't hit the ground. He tried to prevent her from hitting the ground and die, but because of the sudden pull he does to save her, her neck is broken and dies from his rescue attempt instead. Despite what NC says, I think the scene still works because of their chemistry, I still felt that scene even though I saw it coming and Green Goblin was botched.
Not a big deal, but I just thought I’d put it out there. The version of Electro they went with is actually supposed to resemble the version from Ultimate Spider-Man, not the original comics.
Bad call, Miles Morales worked because he wasn't trying to take over the role of Peter Parker, he was being his own Spider-man. I know Ultimate Mysterio also looks different, guess which one made it?
@@logannottheonefrommarvel9917 because using the excuse of an Ultimate Spider-Man version doesn't hold water when both of those characters were in the same universe, only one succeeded in film for good a reason
And if I'm not mistaken, Rhino from the Ultimate Spider-Man was a guy in a robot suit like the one from this movie as well. His was just more weaponized.
Imagine Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborn having a conversation with Eddie Redmayne's character from Jupiter Ascending. I would watch a whole movie with these two characters. What a great movie that would be!
"Looks nothing like comic electro". His ridiculous classic look would never work on screen. His appearance is based on his Ultimate look. He was completely blue and featureless when fully charged up. When he was normal powered, he was a white bald man and wore a long sleeve shirt with a lightning bolt cut into the neckline. The movie combined his Ultimate normal appearance and Ultimate fully charged appearance
Amazing Spiderman 2 leaned more into the ultimate. They...tried? With green goblin but just had an odd mixup of classic and ultimate. Electro's look worked cause wearing the classic green and yellow costume would be DUMB as fuck. Rhino looked cool on the side.
"His ridiculous classic look would never work on screen" Well, if you're talking about a dumb lightning mask around his face, no. But look at what Spectacular Spider-Man and PS4 Spider-Man did with that design. Heck, the Vulture in Homecoming was also a rework of a design that was classic but ridiculous, yet he looked awesome too. Though I have to admit that we already got more than enough Spidey villains on green.
@@uglyguy2519 I meant his lightning bolt mask look, it would never work. But yes, his classic costume could be tweaked to work. However, Mysterio's classic look, which is one of the most ridiculous costumes out there, worked beautifully on screen. So by a miracle and a really good costume designer, Electro's classic look could be done too
Fun Fact: There was a completely cut scene that would have made Gwen's death more impactful. Ok, so Gwen dies and Peter starts crying his eyes out, the scene that was cut out would have then included Harry waking up from unconsciousness and look down to see Peter in distraught over Gwen's death, which would have been followed by Harry laughing at Peter's misery. This would then piss Pete off so much that he climbs back up and beats the living shit out of Harry, nearly killing him. Imagine, the shock value that would have made Gwen's death work would have been solved simply by this scene. But as we all know, some dumb asses decided to completely scrap it even after it was filmed. It's not even in the deleted scenes section of the movie's bonus features, there's only photos online.
Yeah, Harry even asks Peter to kill him since he's dying anyway but Peter stops, in shame, and puts his mask back on as police sirens begin to sound outside the clocktower.
Critic, that ending speech was amazing, and in more ways than one. First, spider-man is my favorite superhero. He always has been since I was a little kid. And to see all these versions of him, both good and bad, is great because it shows how special he was to so many people. Second, I may be reading too much into it, but that speech and the way it was worded almost felt like encouragement for us right now. Cause it is scary and it is a huge loss, more than we think. We won't be the same, not after something like this. But, we always find ways to bounce back. No matter what, we just have to keep going. And I loved that. Again, may be reading too much but that's just my opinion
I wouldn't call him my favorite. I'm more a DC guy, but he has always been top tier for me and I've said before that, some Spider Man movies are better than others, but since Raimi at least, there's not been one that's unwatchable. Compare that to Batman, Superman and Green Lantern (my top three).
The best way to look at your life is like a book, and every big change in your life is like the beginning of a new chapter, you’re taking on a different way of living and it’s not the same as the last one, it’ll feel weird and even kinda scary that you’re essentially leaving behind what you were like before but you’ll always pull through and in time learn to settle into the life you have now, and even though the past chapters in your life aren’t who you are anymore they’ll always be there, and so you can still look back and be like “Wow, it’s so crazy how I went from here to here” Same goes for how your personality changes as you get older, you won’t really be the same person as you once were but that’s all a part of growing and changing, so just remember, just because a change in your life happens it doesn’t mean it’s over, it just means that you’ve moved on to the next chapter in your life and the next wave of new experiences is about to open up to you
I think that would lead to "the clon saga". The ultimate one. Its great . And start the same with the father back to life. But in reality its his clone
@Brandon Brooks i dont know what part 3 would be about. And i know original clon saga is bad But i mean about "ultimate spiderman: the clon saga" is great. And its fits with this scene. I put my money in someone was trying to do it. Remember the majority of marvel films (i know this is sony) have strong bonds with Ultimate universe.
@@kareemmasri3934 even then the way he digs makes no sense? We all understand that Venom is not that deep character and the backstory given post is 2010s. Could the movie incorporate some of the story absolutely but we all also know that the mouse house would fight over money and that they can improve some with the sequel.
So they took a shocking death of a beloved comic character that was being built up over a couple comics and tried to execute that same build up in just 2 movies? So that's where BvS got the idea from...
People don't give Garfield enough credit for his spiderman. The Amazing spider man is a good movie and the Gwen death scene was emotional and well acted
11:09 insert HISHE scene Scientist 1: tank full of eels your closing the lid for the weekendes Scientist 2: yeah.... it''s probaly alright Scientist 3: Here's a bright idea why don't you make sure the lide is closed Before somebody falls in from 3 stories up and electrically mutates the crap out of themselves Just because you were to lazy to safley run this electric eel power plant
You finally made me realize the moment this movie broke down, it was when Peter told Harry that he wouldn't help him out of the blue. That was just an utter... dick move out of nowhere. Like you say, if they'd shown the secret lab bit BEFORE it, it would have helped a lot. Now that I ALSO found out that originally he DID give his blood to Harry and THEN found out about what he'd done, making him responsible to everything bad happening, oh what juicy writing that would have been. I also thought that the deep bass tesla coil remix of itty bitty spider was fucking cool.
I'll be honest this movie has a special place in my heart. When my daughter was growing up we had Spider-Man. She was 1 when I took her to see the first McGuire Flick. This was the last one we watched together. My daughter didn't know Gwen Stacy dies. She'd never read the comics or watched cartoons of it. She had 0 idea. I didn't tell her because I figured if they were going to kill off Gwen it would be like in the third one. I had no clue they were going to do it then and there being no bridge I was like "we're safe" Hell I figured this would be the moment Goblin starts to fixate on her leading to him killing her. So there we are sitting in the theater watching the movie and Gwen starts to fall, I raise an eyebrow tensing up and then the sickening sound of her bouncing off the ground. To my right a gasp, a choked sob and a small voice begging ,"No she's just sleeping...she can't be dead no she's just sleeping" it was heartbreaking. I looked at her and watch my daughter grow up a little as one of her favorite characters in the world died. That moment will always be etched into my brain and for that moment with my daughter of seeing her humanity and her heart. I'm always willing to say good things.
I know that he didn't say that the movie was good or bad, but I would like to clarify that while his story is beautiful and touching, the movie will still be bad. Its just a personal point of view.
As a person who has recently watched it...no, no its not good. I love it, don't get me wrong. But its super obvious they were just throwing anything at the wall, slapping on some cheap animation and calling it a day. And a lot of the time, it really just came out boring. But then sometimes it throw Dr.Doom and a crazy old man summoning Gengas Kahn to fight three superheroes as if he just summoned God himself, immediately realizing how stupid that is and getting rid of him like 5 seconds later.
As someone who hasn’t watched this movie because of how much people have hated on it over the years, that final fight with electro actually looks kind of cool. I like how its sorta a modern spin of how his electricity is interfering with transforms has dubstep which is something I’d normally hate, but I think its cleaver. Had he been the only big baddy, Harry stayed in the background and Electro was built up more/better, perhaps this would’ve been a decent movie. Imagine if he shocked Peter’s web as it was coming out the web shooter and they get fried, leaving him webless. That would’ve been such a better fight seeing him figure out how to defeat him with transformers all around him in a seemingly one sided fight
It is a little cool. And Electro is not a major villain in the comics. They did kinda make him too much of a stereotype. But he's the least bad villain in it. If they had given him the plan, and maybe had him use Osborn, it might have made more sense. He needed to be built up
@@ninjahombrepalito1721 This is true and you raise a good point. But this is also a movie where genetically enhanced spiders and genetically enhanced electric fucking eels give you spider and eel based powers respectively...wait, I mean electric powers (one of my friend's complaints about this film was that Max didn't get eel powers haha). At that point real scientific concerns went out the window a long time ago.
The whole ptoblem with studios like this: Their dogmatic insistance you simply CANNOT mix quality story with market priority, and will cite, much to our dismay, PLENTY of examples where just that kind of defiant chance-taking WAS made and succeeded, but cane at a financial cost too great to bear, and all the future the start planned out vaporized instantly because of it. So most juat huddle behind "Market Worship" as its widely considered "The Safest Option" for the studios finances. Just look at the sonic movie. Yeah, not the best, but they ACTUALLY listened to fans and redid almost every scene of animation to make sonic look better, hell they even completly scrapped the original setting for another. They TRIED to make it better, and as the reports shiw: It was acclaimed as a "Valiant effort" but the heads of the whole thing decreed "The head studio is being disbanded for finacial liability" This...was the studio taking the safest possible iption...but also development hell is to blame: Too many wtiters, too much expectation, nowhere NEAR enough time to make it all mesh because of the "One movie per year" BS. Many see it as the worst. And it is. But where so mahy rag on it, personally, I view such failures as pire tragedy and heartbreak and say "they had their faults...but they didnt deserve this at all"
I like the fact that Electro was a neurotic mess who latched onto Spiderman. After all, there is a legit mental condition that covers this behavior. Him becoming a villain because of an offhand remark Spiderman made which fed into his psychosis made him a great villain. This psychosis combined with the 'electro' music made me love Fox as Electro. He might not be the classic Electro, but I still like him. Edit: Fox wasn't supposed to stand out.. the point of his character is that he was a nobody that everyone treated poorly and nobody cared about. My only issue is the Green Goblin and the other side stories. They were pointless in my opinion.
Just watching these clips years after seeing the film makes me realize how similar most of its plot points and characters are to the characters and plot points in Batman Forever. Its like the writers of the first film watched batman begins and Casino Royale while the writers of this film only watched Batman Forever thinking it was Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight because two face was a character in both films only to realize later that both films are tonally different and should not ever be mixed up at all.
This was the DCEU before the DCEU...setting up plot threads for future movies and cramming in as much as possible all at once before setting up anything.
@@DigiRangerScott But it wasn't meant to be the start, thats why they didn't cram much into it, since it was originally going to be part of the TDK universe BVS is the "oficial" start of the DCEU
I think this is the first episode of Nostalgia Critic that made me cry at the end. Weirdly, I needed that motivation and I feel like a lot of people did too in this time. Thanks, Doug. You're the bomb.
The Spider-Man PS4 version of Electro didn’t look like this. He actually looks like a modernized version of the comic version, with the green & yellow color scheme, yellow lightning, scarring that matches the original mask, & better motivation: using his powers for his own selfish gain & hating Spider-Man because he stops him.
Fun fact: they actually broke actress' Emma Stone spine in half for this movie, she was so commited to the role she didn't even mind. Not that she could express it
I think in other countries the movie is called “Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro” Electro is my favorite part of this movie. Why the hell did they shoehorn Goblin and Rhino when Electro should be the main villain of the movie! Even his theme song getting interrupted by Spider-Man’s song. Electro’s theme song is between 8 minutes (My Enemy) and 12 minutes (The Electro Suite), the best part is 1 minute and 25 seconds long after 7 minutes of escalating build up followed by long stretches of nothing. The song is a metaphor for the entire movie. So much build up, a small payoff and mostly nothing. I don’t know maybe I sympathize with the whole “outcast geek turned supervillain” trope. All in all 4/10. Needs more dubstep
Maybe it’s because we like to see someone who has the same hopes, desires and dreams as everyone else, someone rejected by their peers for not fitting the mold finally get their revenge. Granted, it usually goes overboard, but it is a kind of karmic justice. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it either. Heck, Doc Ock and Mr. Freeze were my favorite supervillains growing up.
I was so sold on this movie when the scene with the little kid with the wind turbine model came up. My favorite scene. Odd. My favorite scene in the previous movie was also the one with the little kid. Somehow those capture the essence of Spider-Man quite well. He wants to help. He cares for everyone. He's the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Sadly the movie as a whole just didn't work.

Fun fact, in an earlier draft, Peter gladly gives Harry his blood, making it HIS fault that his friend went bad and his girlfriend died.
That actually sounds kinda cool. In a messed up tragic way ofc lol

See, that would have been good. Though it also deserves to be the focus of it's own movie and not crammed into one with a different super villain. Someone like the Green Goblin needs at least one movie to build up in the background before making him the focus. At least if you're doing this whole connected universe thing.
Better story
Just re-watched this and I like to think Andrew Garfield watched this and took Critic's words to heart. Then he went out there and absolutely nailed it in No Way Home to the point Sony is considering The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
I watched no way home in theaters with my good friend and I felt heart pangs but in a good way when Andrew caught mj and redeemed himself in his eyes. Even if they don’t make more Garfield and Maguire spidey movies, this felt like the book end they deserved that we hadn’t gotten.
To think they were ALSO going to introduce Mary Jane AND reveal that Peter's dad was still alive.
Didn't Andrew Garfield want MJ to be Michael B Jordan or something like that?
Oppa Kunn yes but shailene woodly was supposed to play the role
It’s like an entire Spider-Man trilogy crammed into one
I bet my left foot there would’ve been some kind of twist that revealed that old Richard Parker was actually Chameleon
Some supermovies suffer from too many villains. This one thought "DAH LET'S JUST THROW THE WHOLE COMICS LINE IN THERE!"
I need to rewatch this movie, but THAT SCENE, I remind it very well because it completely broke my heart.
Were you also holding up Batman at gun point and demanding that Superman reserves time?
This movie is what killed my trust in trailers, the shot of Spidey fighting the Rhino in a badass starting a badass action sc-- *cuts straight to credits*
Oh I HATED that so much. What a huge ripoff that was!
I know!! I had waited the entire movie for that scene and when it came and ended the actual movie, I was super angry.
I can't believe we lost a movie starring crazy russian Paul Giammatti to see a bad perfomance by Jamie Foxx with a even worse written character
Well, my trust in trailers was dead since Iron Man 3. And TASM2 digged it deeper.
Driver is my personal favorite BS trailer of all time. They advertised it like it was the next fast and furious movie lol If you've ever seen Driver that's not just misleading it's a straight up lie ;p
Easy fix to the scene where Peter tells Harry he can't have his blood
"So, we had an incident not long ago with a guy who did basically the same thing, but he turned into a giant psychotic lizard. I do NOT want to take the, let's be honest, 99% chance you'll turn into a giant psychotic spider."
But if he did we could have had a Non-Peter Man-Spider.
That would have made so much sense!
I think that's honestly where my mind went when I saw that scene
There are several ways he couldn't elaborated on his position. The fact Peter did nothing to explain himself is lazy writing.
Or, you know...
"My blood is radioactive. With underlying health problems and a compromised immune system, you could very well die of radiation poisoning."
Or perhaps more simply
"If something as small as our blood types not matching comes up, you could contract several more problems than we cure."
Some people have mentioned this before, but Electro's design was based off his appearance in the Ultimate comics, just wanted another voice to shed some light on it
While the blue skin and pure energy form are accurate, the suit looks like nothing from the comics and is quite bland.
And isn't the Ultimate line pretty much dead, with the surviving characters like Miles Morales and... The Maker (Reed Richards) in Earth 616?
@@battlion507 Like a lot of Ultimate Marvel fans, I stopped reading it after Ultimatum. I'm surprised the universe kept going for any significant period of time after that.

I love that Harry assumes that just cause Peter takes Spider-Man’s pictures that, that means that Peter somehow automatically knows Spider-Man.

Funny how they didn't want to release a four-hour-long Spider-Man movie.
@@MusicVersa Yes because 2 vital scenes would make it 4 hours long.

@You Wish I don't disagree that SM3 built up the storylines. I thought it was well done until they did two additions like Eddie and Gwen where it started to feel a little overstuffed. Amazing Spiderman 2 leaned more into the ultimate. They...tried? With green goblin but just had an odd mixup of classic and ultimate. Electro's look worked cause wearing the classic green and yellow costume would be DUMB as fuck. Rhino looked cool on the side.
"His ridiculous classic look would never work on screen"

@@uglyguy2519 I meant his lightning bolt mask look, it would never work. But yes, his classic costume could be tweaked to work.

What a touching story. Thanks for sharing!
Cool story but doesn't make it a good movie. Just makes you biased.
@@DJMangoh at no point did he say it was a good film? Other than it was special to him...kinda an unnecessary comment really
Joseph yeah he said it “it held a special place in my heart”. He didn’t say anything that indicated it was a masterpiece.
I know that he didn't say that the movie was good or bad, but I would like to clarify that while his story is beautiful and touching, the movie will still be bad. Its just a personal point of view.
*sees the speech at the end*
I see what you did there, you cheeky sneaky....
You made Amazing Spiderman 2, feel better.
Bless you.
It IS April Fools Day, so it seems appropriate to review THIS joke of a Spider Man Movie
@@matthewryan6523 but at least they remembered them, unlike this which people either forgot or pretend never happened
@Cyberdemon Mike no its trash but if you like it thats fine
“Spider plane does sound cool”
That should have been an actual line in the movie!!
Why does he say "great losses" when Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends is shown? Sure, it was corny, but it was still a good cartoon.
dreamlandnightmare why is he giving some “you’ll get past this” speech to a character who’s far surpassed this shite movie.

He needed to be built up
Yeah, I thought that fight was awesome
Forget about B.J Novak as Alistair Smythe? Yup, he's in it too XD
@Limau Purut That's a good thing. With Sony at the helm, nothing good would have come of it.
Nobody cares about Smythe
I mean, it's not like Harry has a team of scientists that can test the blood to make sure it won't cause any kind of damage.
OH WAIT
You have my vote for winner of the internet today good sir. 👍
HISHE?
HISHE did. It was much more realistic and funnier scene.
To be fair, they do say that his father had been researching the disease for decades. He just never found a cure while he was alive.
"Dark Universe's part one of one"
Ouch xD
Which is weird, because Dracula Untold is the first movie in the "universe".
Funny thing but now with streaming on demand having movies as the episodic content makes more sense. But Hollywood doesn't understand anything.
why does that green goblin "you ruined my life" remind me of onision's meltdown?
Which one? He's had so many.
I don’t know who’s over the top mid-puberty voice is funnier, Malcolm as mopey Spider-Man or Dane DeHaan’s. 🤣
The whole ptoblem with studios like this:
Their dogmatic insistance you simply CANNOT mix quality story with market priority, and will cite, much to our dismay, PLENTY of examples where just that kind of defiant chance-taking WAS made and succeeded, but cane at a financial cost too great to bear, and all the future the start planned out vaporized instantly because of it.
They TRIED to make it better, and as the reports shiw: It was acclaimed as a "Valiant effort" but the heads of the whole thing decreed "The head studio is being disbanded for finacial liability"
This...was the studio taking the safest possible iption...but also development hell is to blame: Too many wtiters, too much expectation, nowhere NEAR enough time to make it all mesh because of the "One movie per year" BS.
Many see it as the worst. And it is.
But where so mahy rag on it, personally, I view such failures as pire tragedy and heartbreak and say "they had their faults...but they didnt deserve this at all"
Pire tragedy?
Damn. You should make a play out of this. 0_0
My legit reaction to seeing the green 'knob-lin' for the first time:
"...He looks like a troll doll got hit by a lawn mower!"
That is perfect XD
I knew there was something familiar about him...I just couldn’t place it.🚜🤯
9:17 Props to the actual spider climbing down the wall on the left.

That subway lab looks like it should have been in Michael Bay's TMNT movies.
Big facts
This was the DCEU before the DCEU...setting up plot threads for future movies and cramming in as much as possible all at once before setting up anything.
Kind of? Man of Steel was already out
Artydomi At the very least DCEU recovered thanks to Wonder Woman and other films that would come later.
@@DigiRangerScott But it wasn't meant to be the start, thats why they didn't cram much into it, since it was originally going to be part of the TDK universe
BVS is the "oficial" start of the DCEU
yet this is still better than nearly everything the DCEU has pumped out
Mr. Johnson & The Juice Crew Mostly Sony’s fault more so than the movie itself.
"Oh god, just bang already."
Me, laughing: "He's in the back of the car!!"

Hey here an idea for a few reviews.
Review the Pirates of Caribbean movies
I was thinking the Terminators past T2.
Oh the jokes taken at the sequels could be hilarious. And as of the Terminator sequels, I would love the shade thrown at “Salvation” and “Genisys”
9:15 This point is so spot on that I want to go back and make sure I didn't miss you doing a review of Valerian.
Gotta say, Larry King as the Green Goblin was an unexpected choice.
I think this is the first episode of Nostalgia Critic that made me cry at the end. Weirdly, I needed that motivation and I feel like a lot of people did too in this time. Thanks, Doug. You're the bomb.
Actually electro looks like this now a days when he use his power
The Spider-Man PS4 version of Electro didn’t look like this. He actually looks like a modernized version of the comic version, with the green & yellow color scheme, yellow lightning, scarring that matches the original mask, & better motivation: using his powers for his own selfish gain & hating Spider-Man because he stops him.
Its more how he looks in the Ultimate Comics the Ultimate Cartoon used the same look to
That's Ultimate Universe Electro.
Considering what kind of directions modern marvel takes that doesnt help this movie's case
Bea r Still a better motivation than the one from Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Fun fact: they actually broke actress' Emma Stone spine in half for this movie, she was so commited to the role she didn't even mind. Not that she could express it
I think in other countries the movie is called “Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro”
Electro is my favorite part of this movie.
Yeah you symphatize too much
He wasnt green goblin, he was hobgoblin
Andrew Davis sorry, meant to say hobgoblin.
General Horse they were focused on setting up the sinister six more than anything to obviously disappointing results.
Last time I was this early, we weren’t quarantined.
