It think them together would be a hot mess. They're too prideful of their style and their work. A very malliable director would be someone like Spielberg or and maybe even Cameron.
14:00 - Another thing about that "Can You Blush?" line - according to Wesley Snipes himself, it's supposedly based on a real incident he had with a Neo-Nazi skinhead.
If that's true then it's actually meaningful that the director weaved that into the story. I just thought it was to make us hate that particular character like NC suggested.
Hellboy has crossed over before with Batman, Starman, the TMNT (through Injustice), Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Savage Dragon. A Blade crossover isn't entirely out of the question.
Nah, I AM from the USA, and it's the same. The 'racist' aspect of it is a reach and a half. It'd be like saying a character is racist for saying 'bottom of the totem pole' to a native. Yeah, it's...racist... but that's not the point of the line. Double meaning.
For all of that "I'm from US and never knew about that either" folks, how many of you are white? Asking only so I cna ask if it's possible that you dont know the context becuase it's not something you've ever actually had to know. Not a dig or a drag, just pointing out that it's more of a cultural issue than a geographical one.
I honestly didn't know it was a racial slur until I saw the drama for this on the internet. I still don't see the slur, black people do blush 🤷🏽♂️, my native language is Spanish so I guess there is some cultural background to it that escapes me (like when an English speaker says "negro" which, saying black in Spanish is suddenly an insult somehow?)
@@TheBayzent lol “all of a sudden” you must not have seen the historical context of the use of the word “negro” as a derogatory term to demean black people, don’t be naive.
Also yeah This film also was the casting call for the hellboy movies. Ron perlman was hellboy Elia talaskino lawyer has Rasputin Jerrik nomac by luke goss who play Prince nuwads in hellboy 2
When I was a kid I thought that the "can you blush joke?" was because to the vampires Blade was like a super serious boogeyman and he never smiled or never say him smile. Now I know it's a race thing. Thanks I guess.
I always have thought that it is clearly a reference to vampires being unable to blush, not having a pulse and being undead and all that. And he is just pointing out that Blade is not one of them (a true vampire). Btw, Del Toro is not from the USA, and not used to such sensitivity around the subject, so maybe he didn't even realize it could be interpreted as racist (I am from europe, and didn't get the race slur thing until it was pointed out to me)
I only got one real complaint with Blade 2: the criminal underuse of Donnie Yen. Seriously, you get Donnie Yen, and give him only half of a poorly lit fight scene and a stab-in-the-back death!?
I complained about this too. Then The Force Awakens came out and had the cast of The Raid playing space pirates that get eaten by a giant hentai monster in 2 minutes. I forgive Blade 2.
I remember seeing trailers for this movie back in 2002 when I was 6. From what I saw in the trailers, I thought Blade as an ass-kicking trenchcoat-wearing mysterious black guy; I think I had a crush on him a bit. But, since the movie was rated R, I didn't get to see it, so I compromised by creating my own character based on Blade called (IIRC) "Slayer" who looked a lot like him. I would write stories about him on Microsoft Word (but since I was 6, he was in childish situations. I didn't know Blade hunted vampires back then) and he even showed up in a comic I wrote about Swayzak (from Toonami); but by the time I wrote that comic, I had largely forgotten about him and Blade. It was just a stroke of luck I remembered him. I even forgot about him until I saw this review (alongside vague recognition when I was watching the first Blade review earlier.) Yeah.
probably in 3 years because 1. it took him 3 years between the first one an d the sequel and 2. because in 3 years is the probable release date of the MCU Blade
13:21 To answer the "Can you blush?" Question, it's actually BOTH. It's a double reference to Blade being half vampire AND black. Clever, but also yikes. It says so in Reinhardt's wiki page in the trivia section.
People are butthurt so easy. I'm sure Wesley Snipes was fine with it. If he wasn't he'd said something while they were filming. People read to much into things man.
I was so happy, haha. I hope he does The Little Shop of Horrors at some point and makes another reference (I spotted Danny John-Jules as a back-up dancer in that one).

And the even sadder thing is that Blade 3 is the closest we'll get to a Blade/Deathpool crossover
Hellboy has crossed over before with Batman, Starman, the TMNT (through Injustice), Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Savage Dragon. A Blade crossover isn't entirely out of the question.
@@IamaPERSON Hello there
Maybe it is because I am not from USA, but "Can you blush" line was for me a reference for Blade's human part.
Nah, I AM from the USA, and it's the same.
The 'racist' aspect of it is a reach and a half. It'd be like saying a character is racist for saying 'bottom of the totem pole' to a native.
Yeah, it's...racist... but that's not the point of the line. Double meaning.

Now I know it's a race thing. Thanks I guess.
That's exactly what I thought as well.
Could be all 3.
I always have thought that it is clearly a reference to vampires being unable to blush, not having a pulse and being undead and all that. And he is just pointing out that Blade is not one of them (a true vampire). Btw, Del Toro is not from the USA, and not used to such sensitivity around the subject, so maybe he didn't even realize it could be interpreted as racist (I am from europe, and didn't get the race slur thing until it was pointed out to me)
I also thought it was the blood circulation in cheeks that makes one blush, a vampire would be und3ad and lack that. Made perfect sense to me lol
i honestly thought it was simply a stab on him being a halfbreed.
I only got one real complaint with Blade 2: the criminal underuse of Donnie Yen.
