But during Zazu's report to Mufasa (which you might of missed, seeing as how the special edition replaced with a song or how in the original the focus was Mufasa teaching Simba to pounce), Zazu uses the term to talk about how a couple of cheetah's cheated him.

    The biggest thing I think this review failed to mention was Scar's emotional manipulation. It doesn't matter who actually killed Mufasa as much as the fact that Simba *thinks* he killed Mufasa. The "What would your mother think?" line was a trigger for Simba's abuse that reminded him of his past. For his pride's sake, he decided to go back and responsibly face his potential consequences as his own decision. The choice to take responsibility is what matters most.

    When Simba reveals that he's responsible for Mufasa's death, this is shocking news. Nala, Sirabi and the other lionesses are all caught off guard by the revelation, and Scar is ready to exploit their reaction. He shouts and repeats the accusation, verbally re-enforcing it, and starts circling Simba to isolate him from the rest of the pride until his army of hyenas can back him up to hem Simba in against the cliffs.
    It's less about his friends and family abandoning him in the face of the confession, more that even despite the fact that Simba did the right thing, Scar is still a devious bastard who knows how to twist a situation to his advantage, just as he did in the canyon.

    The Lionesses don't make a move to help Simba while Scar is blaming him for Mufasa's death and backing him off a cliff. This would seem to indicate that his apparent responsibility for Mufasa's death has turned them against him...except Simba has challenged Scar for position as King. Interfering would be breaking the rules of the challenge, until a winner is decided it's entirely between Simba and Scar. After Simba makes Scar confess to murder the hyenas jump Simba and the lionesses have their chance to get in on things, though they still don't attack Scar himself.

    • @kylgrv

      Not only that, but it could also be that the hyenas were blocking the lionesses from trying to stand up for Simba when Scar was cornering him. Actually the Lionesses not helping Simba at the end never bothered me because it runs along side the lesson of "take responsiblility for your actions." I think it's supposed to show that there will be consequenses for your actions, but you can overcome them, like how Simba does when he forces Scar to admit his crime. It's not just "Be responsible for your past." it's "be responsible, but expect consequenses for things that happened in the past."

      @@LV426Resident I would argue that Disney wrote themselves into a corner with this part of the story. Remember, Scar is the only one who knows Simba is innocent, so the situation needs to be treated as if Simba actually was responsible for Mufasa’s death. Therefore, our only alternative to this, is literally letting Simba get way with murder, just because he would supposedly be a better king than Scar.

      the difference between physical strength and emotional strength is also a core message of the movie. Simba initially admires his dad for how big and strong and powerful he is, but Mufasa's greatest strength is emotional. It's his empathy, and it shows in the scene where he tells simba about the great kings of the past. It's Mufasa's emotional strength that is Simba's driving force throughout the whole movie and is what enables him to gain that strength on his own at the final part. The lion king has so many different messages, in the end it's an ode to life. To the circle of life

    I think you misinterpreted the message a bit. The point was if Simba kept running from his past he would never learn from it i.e he would never find out the truth of what happened. The reason the lionesses didn't help him was because they were in shock, they just heard that he was responsible for their previous Kings death. Hakuna Matata wasn't about dodging responsibility it was about not worrying about things you can't change especially the past. And finally the reason Simba was cornered by Scar and could do so little is because the moral wasn't about facing your fears, which is what makes Scar such a great villain, he still had a hold on Simba even after all these years. He was brave enough to confront the past but he was still afraid of what he thought he'd done.

    About Nala and Simba being maybe super incestuous, they tried to fix that in THE LION GUARD...and made things much worse for everyone.
    In it, they revealed that there were originally like 5 other lions in the pride, one of which was Nala's father. These lions formed the Lion Guard, the peacekeepers of the Pride Lands, led by which ever lion held the Roar of the Elders, usually a member of the Royal family.
    Previously, Scar was the leader and held the Roar, but he thought that meant he should be King, so he tried to overthrow Mufasa. The other members of the guard refused, SO HE KILLED THEM.
    this caused his Roar to be taken away, and Mufasa in his stupid kindness, let Scar stay.
    Which means SCAR HAS TRIED TO TAKE OVER BEFORE! Very RECENTLY I MIGHT ADD.

    • @okamibattleblock1301
      @okamibattleblock1301 5 лет назад +14

      In all honesty, in the lion guard when they explain that story about Nala’s father they never really said when he was part of the guard.
      As for Scar, once again we never know when he wanted his guard to kill Mufasa. It at least had to be 3-5 years before Lion King as it would help with Scars growing hatred for Mufasa, as Scar would grow more comfortable without the roar of the elders, and more time for him to become smarter

    You know what? When you think about it, Scar's behavior after Mufasa's death is more than evil, it's messed up: He can't kill Simba himself, I mean, the whole point of sending him to the graveyard and later the plot with the stampede is partially this, besides not being able to take down Mufasa himself: If he did, his scent would be all over the body along with marks of his claws or teeth. He can lie about marks in Mufasa's paws by saying he was trying to help, but not with fatal wounds (even as I child I got this, pretty obvious).
    So, the next best course of action when Simba survives is to send the hyenas after him... What does he do? He basically shatters Simba further by saying his father died because of him, implying how devastated his mother will be and then saying the only thing he can do now is to leave his home forever. And only then Scars sends the hyenas. This is how much Scar resented/hated Simba for being next in line, he isn't satisfied with just killing him and takes the chance to twist the knife. Pretty messed up for a Disney villain, guys...

      Scar hated mufasa and simba so much that he didn't want them just dead. He wanted them to suffer, slowly and painfully. But knew that if he did the deed himself he's screwed. So he play his cards right and low behold, he killed his brother and manipulates simba's guilt before he let the hyenas finish him off. A fucking cub.

    • @anawolf2354
      @anawolf2354 4 года назад +22

      @@shadowentertainment9975 He made them both suffer as much as he could when the opportunity was given. Mufasa is begging for help? He doesn't just let him go, he leans in and whispers with all the hate he can. Mufasa looks scared and betrayed, realizing the brother he loved hates him to this point (and will probably kill his son as well). Simba doesn't die in the stampede? He doesn't send the hyenas right away, he tortures this cub emotionally and mentally as much as he can. Just... That's almost Maleficent levels of sadism.

With Nala's line, same scenario. His mother lost Mufasa, and thought that her son was dead for so many years. So I don't really see why you see a problem with those specific lines.
