Beautiful lady an angelic voice
She will never really be gone as long as we have her music to remind us that she came to visit us. But I'm still going to miss her, RIP, Ms. Griffith and thank you.
I just found her .... & I love her. Makes me sad to hear she's left us here. 💧❤🎶🎶🎶
Maybe there's an Austin heaven where she jams with Prine and Townes.
@@mortygoldmacher I can only imagine what the music must sound like in Heaven with them. What a show that would be.
Love her
So Jeffery Dahmer isnt gone because we have memories of him? No, she is gone. Like you and I and anyone reading this will be in time.
I’m shedding tears over Nanci passing. She had the most wonderful humble angelic voice. Thank god for recordings.
RIP Nanci, singing with Angels
Nobody like her. Beautiful to hear her speak . . . let alone sing.
RIP Nanci, we will miss you.
OMG, So Sorry, have just received the sad news of the passing of a great American Artist. RIP Nanci Griffith. Will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace Nancy. It feels like I lost one of my best friends tonight!
Nancy was a real Southern girl and such a beautiful person soul
Nancy had a unique voice and ability to pen words with meaning.
Nancy Griffith was such a fine singer and musician super girl ❤
We'll carry your angelic voice and beautiful nature with us for always. RIP Nancy, and thank you.
Like all her admirers I simply feel sooooo sad! I found Nanci a decent artist full of talent but vastly underrated. Love her voice!!!!
Godspeed 🕊Rest In Power 🕊Rest In Peace🕊 God bless Nanci 🕊 8/13/21
She's a songbird and a Angel wearing crooked halo with her colorful salty jokes early on in her career... A true Angel with voice of a songbird. 👼🏻
Miss Nancy still miss Nancy Nancy was one my mom's favorite singers ❤
We take for granted what we have/love until it's gone. RIP you will forever be remembered and always missed. 💚

We are blessed to have her beautiful voice and music, now that she has taken that "outbound plane" to high above the clouds, soaring with the angels. RIP.

Gorgeous voice. RIP angel girl
I will always miss you Nanci Caroline Griffith, my love 😍❤️🙏🏻😢
One more hole in a heart that has been shot to pieces .
Angelic voice.. .gentle soul !
One of the main reasons Texas is a great state.
Sad that Texas music critics often didn't give her the appreciation she so clearly deserved, to her sorrow.
@@julianations6193 Wasn't aware of that. A critic's words are inconsequential; a musician's work is everlasting.
She’s a folk and country treasure.
I miss you.
She left us with many thoughts.
Sweet dreams beautiful soul
Thanks for the post, George. The dependable Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Dement backing. How saddened we are by the loss of the great Ms. Griffith. Thank-You, Nanci, for all the great music and fond memories.
So many songs -so much joy and sadness- the sound track to so many years of my life. An amazing woman who will be greatly missed Xxoo
My 2nd favorite Nanci song...
She was always, *sheer* perfection, so grateful she left us a vast legacy!
I’m really sad that I never got to see her live
She was amazing. I was instantly in love with her and her music.
ALWAYS A PLEASURE!

About the time I came to know of this talented lead guitarist, Pete Kennedy of present day The Kennedys. He had been part-time guitarist for Mary Chapin Carpenter on a few tours that her dear friend, John jennings was unavailable or producing her albums. 🇨🇦 🍁
We miss you Nancy left too soon!
It just can’t be…gone
I don't know how I missed her all those years, damn where was I ?
I have just encountered this song, what a lovely ,natural and transfusing voice she has!
This is beautiful. Thanks for posting.
I was coming to the comment section to post just this - truly is a great performance!!
Absolutely lovely.
It's funny, I just found this video clip days before I'm about to release my song 'You Can't Go Home Again (for Nanci)' - I'm not sure if I subconsciously knew she had a song with the same title or not, I just felt compelled to write it - Oh well, we miss you Nanci
She is still with us !
Why is there not a HEART button to press?!
Only the video owner gets the heart button. If you've ever had a comment 'hearted', it's always from them.
One of my very favourite songs by Nanci (or by anyone, for that matter) and the added bonus of Across The Great Divide - another great favourite.
Thank you for posting these gems!
Nanci and Lee Satterfield Wow!
I can hear an Iris DeMent sound in her vocals too.
I see Pete Kennedy onstage
Nancy singing love songs.......
I am so very very sad my dearest Nancy passed away
Thank you for posting this. Fantastic Nanci song.
Lovely Country Lady!
👝💌💭💫💦💟🧚👼
I'm shocked and 😢 sad.
Dream lady ❤
Check out that holographic LBJ button
I saw it before you . . . . . . . l o l
Thank you everyone
Wow
One of my favorite Nanci tunes. Does anyone know the tuning she has her guitar in?
Standard, with a capo. She’s playing in G formation two frets up, so Across the Great Divide is in A.
@@b1jThis song is You Can’t Go Home Again. She does not appear to be using G shapes, nor is she using a capo. Thus my question about tuning. She was fond of open G, so maybe that’s it. Thanks anyway!
The song title might have been mentioned by someone to Thomas Wolfe.
3:55…….Best line in the song…..
The classic blue moon orchestra line up but missing Ron de la Vega!
I really it’s hard these days to hear
I didn’t know
This song is lovely. The Backup singer is?
She would be Lee Satterfield.
@@gwflew Thanks for that, George.
I want a CD of Nancy Griffith any suggestions?
Linda, I would suggest "The Complete MCA Studio Recordings". I don't own it since this is a compilation and I have most of the songs on individual CDs. This is massive double CD containing 46 tracks. When I checked the playlist, it contains at least 2 dozen of my favorite Nanci songs, many written by her. You might want to add "Other Voices, Other Rooms" that includes songs not written by her. It includes Kate Wolf's "Across the Great Divide", probably one of their best songs (both Kate's writing and Nanci's performance). Both are available from Amazon at a very reasonable price and, if you don't want to wait on the mail, can be downloaded.I envy someone who will be hearing many of these songs for the first time.
@@gwflew thank you so much. I've liked her but haven't heard anything in years.🙂
'One Fair Summer Evening' it's a live album recorded 19-20 August 1988 in Austin TX. Before 'late Night, Grand Hotel' and she hit the big time. It is a beautiful woman singing beautiful songs she believes in with all her heart.
@@mn4082 it is also an awesome and incredible DVD, which you should check out, if you haven't...
one of our alltime favorites from our dvd library of americana music!
the only problem is that is too short with only about ten songs

Try late night grande hotel or flyer linda but really any of her albums will draw you in! Brilliant music! It makes me melt!
That’s gravitas.
Why are you missing her, she isn't dead or retired.
I've been looking for signs of Nanci for years, but I've reluctantly accepted that she IS retired. I read somewhere that she attributed her retirement to arthritis and not being able to play guitar anymore ... just like Eddie in "Love at the Five and Dime." I hope Nanci is not selling insurance on the side. Spent some years away from Nanci after finding my favorite band (Dawes - two band members are former insurance company employees!), but I'm back to Nanci lately, and she sounds so good. We fans took her for granted, thinking we would always have her. I got so close to shaking her hand after a performance in San Francisco. I consoled myself thinking "next time!" but that never happened. Miss you, Nanci!
Three x Six
She was before me. Brilliant
Why is\was she not a super star or have I missed something..she is better than Emily Lou or Linda R...just saying !!
Nanci's voice has a charm and character all her own. It is evident that I am a big fan of Nanci...after all I posted these videos. However, when you consider the range and clarity of Linda Ronstadt's voice, I can only conclude that she was the greatest vocalist of the last half of the 20th century. From her first hit of "Different Drums" (one of my top 10 rock songs of all time) with the Stone Poneys in '67 to her final recording, "Adieu False Heart" with Ann Savoy in 2006, the breadth of her work spans big band, pop, folk, country, rock n roll, mariachi, and even a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. If you want to enjoy her vocal range, check out "Adios" recorded on '89. It is unfortunate that Parkinson's took her beautiful voice from us.
Lutian Murphy some of the things you have to do and be to become a “super star” are extremely distasteful and many performers prefer not to be involved with all that kind of thing. Consciously or by instinct
She peaked in 1985-88. An is not a music biz type
@@alantracy6757 Those of lesser talent and subjective opinions have the right to be heard. Here’s my take. You presume too much. Your tone is dismissive and arrogant.
I love Nancy and her music, sorry to see she was a fool for LBJ
