Imo playing something note for note vs. adding your own licks/changing the solo by 'missing a note' makes no difference. You gotta know what you wanna do. Most people will be happy to see it either way. And hate will come either way. If you play note for note, people will call you "unoriginal/no personality/hobbyist/..." and if you play it differently, people will say "how dare he change the solo😱😱" so don't worry and do what's most fun to you ;)
