Nets defensive plan was to throw multiple bodies at Shaq and Kobe but both of them were so good they could score at will anyways.
And thats why defenses changed their defensive schemes on the lakers. To be honest kobe gave shaq room to operate the whole scheme of the pistons when they beat the lakers was to anger and throw as many tall fast bodies at kobe block his passin lanes and his sweet spots. The way they defended kobe in that series prevented shaq from really dominating in that piston series. Also the fact that kobe and shaq had friction and didnt get along anymore. Kobe was really the focal point on why shaq won those rings.
