    I'm a twister and have many years experience with line work. I appreciate you using a stop watch, but me personally I don't care about how long it takes! For those who are just starting out, don't be stressed over time. There WILL BE parents that WILL try to rush you. This IS what I DO for fun!
    Even with long lines; spend about the same amount of time visiting with each child as you "perform". They are the "customer"! Parents actually appreciate it more that you've taken interest in their child and not just pump out results, NEXT! This will also get extra business for parties, so do have plenty of business cards handy!!!

      Thanks for your comment! You make a very good point.
      In this instance, usually, my "customer" is actually the Event Venue that hired me to paint for several (or many!) hours at a "Free" cost to the public! They review my work to make it sure it is quality enough to be done quickly and have satisfied customers. They hire me because I paint more children per hour than many of my colleagues! It's a different niche of the market that I have trained for and can subsequently charge more for (it is HARD work going that quickly).
      I always chatter to all of my beautiful "canvases" as I paint to let them know how special each one of them is! The parents are most happy that I am able to paint more children, rather than spend a tedious amount of time on each child while there is a long line waiting (especially as it is free for them!)
      On the other hand, put me in a birthday party where I can do exquisite detail and only do 10 kids per hour, then I'm happy there too!

      @@eldamar86 Thanks for the reply! Since you explained your gigs, I understand your method.
      It reminds me of a company Christmas party my brother and I did; we are both clowns also... he chose to make only a handful of simple balloon sculptures and sent most of the kids to me that wanted more complex designs!
      This event had at least 500 people with that many kids... this didn't cost the families anything, as it was a company event. I guess I've got the wrong mindset though... Since they don't pay, they can wait ( if you really want a balloon)! Having said that; there was a long line for Santa!, not after the clowns showed up!🤡💗😂

      There is definitely a different mindset between pay-per-design, and pre-paid events. Like Esther, I do a whole lot of corporate events, which they really don't care about how fancy the face paint is, they care about the number of people you paint, so having quick designs like this is extremely important. Also for brand-new people who are just getting out into face painting, this is valuable information. I know a lot of balloon twisters, who do do elaborate designs for birthday parties and whatnot, but do very quick and simple designs for large crowd events. To be honest, most of my corporate jobs would not hire me if I was not as fast as I am.

    These videos are amazing, I started face painting a few days ago and I practise on my siblings faces with their choice of face paint. It takes me about 10 minutes for each, so we quick and simple ones are amazing for me! They like complicated ones like Spiderman and a shark on their mouth's, it takes so long for me, especially Spiderman, when I saw you doing Spiderman I felt like I was doing so many things wrong, I'm new so I'm only using cheap face paint and out paint brushes. I'm hoping for Christmas I will get a face paint set, these videos are amazing, I'm going to subscribe, oh and keep up the good work! 😉

      Sorry for not replying sooner! The Rinsewell can be found in many places. I got mine from Amazon. The rest of my brushes are held by a holder that came with my kit. The kit was bought at Harbor Freight.

    Where did you get the practice board?

    • @eldamar86
      @eldamar86 5 лет назад +3

      Sorry for not replying sooner! I bought two clear cutting board mats from amazon for a couple bucks. I used a permanent marker to draw a face on the more bumpy side. Then I flipped it over and paint on the smoother side! You can also buy premade ones from the Sally Ann Lynch Etsy shop... hers are amazing!

    Not artistic and would like to make a face outline for practice. How can I obtain an outline to put on the practice board?

    • @EstherTilley
      @EstherTilley  6 месяцев назад

      Well... maybe use a photo on your computer, put your paper over it, and trace gently. Then go over it with a marker. Then put your thin cutting board over it and trace the face on the smooth side so you can paint the rough side. Hope that made sense. I used a family member's face with her permission cuz I think she's pretty... :)

    Does anyone else find it takes FARRRRR longer to load the brush with the split cake than is being demonstrated here? I can’t load enough to paint on skin in three or four swipes. Can anyone else?

    Problem is your double dipping

    • @EstherTilley
      @EstherTilley  6 месяцев назад

      True! Because it's a practice board and sux. On kids, and real skin, there's no need to double dip if you do or properly and really load your brush. Or you just rinse lightly in between.
