Finally a face painter that is honest about the fact that kids are happy with simple easy cute designs. All you see now are 30 mins jobs and hardly any on the job stuff. It’s causing a huge unrealistic expectation to the field. Thank you
I know it can be really hard for people to tell the difference between editorial face paint and On The Job realistic designs. People mean well but instagram is not REAL life face painting. Glad you liked the video!

@@Justonevideoplease I completely understand. It's one of the reasons I started this channel. When I started I saw amazing elaborate designs and wondered why I couldn't do them. There is a HUGE difference between Instagram/creative designs and real OTJ designs. Thank you for following along with me. I appreciate it.
When I get asked to do some of these Insta-designs, I tell people I’d be happy to do it…then I tell them how long it will take (30 mins, 45 mins, etc) and how much it will cost (I usually tell them $25 or more), lol. That usually changes the direction they want to go! But I’ve found that most of the time, especially when I have a long line at a busy event, parents & kids are thrilled with great designs like these in just a flash. same here!! several years ago I volunteered for a church event cuz I love painting, but I didn't know what I was getting into.... Ariel, I watched this again last night prior to the usual annual face painting event, which, of course, has been cancelled for the past 3 years. I can't tell you how helpful this video is. We had lots of smiling faces today. Thank you! X
Tip for new painters… Sometimes I get parents that really want their little ones painted. Well, that brush can sometimes be scary-especially if they think it’s a shot. So when they are too scared I keep some fancy stickers handy and put that on them, or let them take it. :)
I agree wholeheartedly with the other commenters. You ARE incredibly generous, and you DO give a ton of value. I haven’t painted anyone since before Covid, and I unexpectedly got 2 Halloween gigs for this week, with only 4 days notice. One of them is a pay-per-face event at a pumpkin patch. I never do pay/face, and I am seriously out of practice. And it will probably be very busy. Your designs are a lifesaver at 4 am! I also watched your Halloween video, and those designs are nice and simple also, in case there’s a big crowd. I also love your black split cake cat, and your rainbow cat, and a million other designs that you do. Thank you SO very much for sharing with us! Lastly, I loved when you sat down with a latte before painting in 1 of your videos too. Awesome. PS: I really want to know what that neon pink, orange, yellow and green split cake is though. My lord it is awesome!
Thank you for your sweet comments. I hope your events went well. It's a Leanne Courtney cake for sure but I don't know which one. I'll come back to this comment when I figure it out.
Thank you for these quick and simple ideas! 💕 I'm just learning because my little girls love their face painted, and maybe one day I'll be good enough to volunteer at their school.
Thank you for this video! I'm an amateur artist and I've been painting a few faces at our Church's pumpkin patch. I think these designs will work well. I had no idea it would be so popular. I was doing two kids and I looked up and there was a line of six or seven more kids.
Thanks for this tutorial. Have my little cousin 10 year old birthday coming Saturday. I was looking for a easier way to do kids 10 and under. Great Job. Thanks

Hi Ariel, thanks for all your great videos. I've watched this one a few times because it's just so helpful but I have a question about using stencils. I find that my stencils often get tangled up in eachother (you know the type that has little sharp points like the paisley pattern?). I also seem to waste a lot of time hunting down the right stencil. Any advice for me on this? I love to use stencils but these hurdles are very annoying.
Hi, I have many stencils in my Amazon store. I need to do a full video on stencils as there is a LOT to cover. I'll do that after my glitter video. Thanks for watching!
This is amazingly helpful! Thank you! One question - when you double dip to reload do you get a new brush or like do you worry about germs? This is something I just can’t wrap my mind around lol. Do you need a million brushes?
Thank you dear! Do you have any other options for good cakes? The neon rainbow oone you’re using is sold out on Amazon. There’s so many to choose from. I’m a beginner face painter but not beginner artist. I have a zillion stencils and stamps.

Hi. Can you please let me know what product you have? I do events for work and I love facepainting. Just need to figure out what products are best to use and how to do them quickly!
Would LOVE to know what that beautiful purple/pink/silver split cake was that you used for your mermaid eyeshadow in this Video!😍 With my luck it’s probably one that you made😅 just like that beautiful split you used for the mermaid’s tail. When will fusion give you your own pallette!?!?!?😩💕
Hahaha. That's sweet but I don't think I have enough influence for my own palette. I have thought about making my own cakes though. Just need to get one of those presses so I can make them all consistent. Yes, that was a custom one. Sorry!
Girl... always fun and educational to watch you. This maybe a no brainer for some of you, but I'm fresh off the block here. Anyway, my question is with brushes. Do you load a liner brush a one stroke brush and let the stand in-between... or do you wash out every brush when your done ? Hopefully that made some sense. 😜🤪😝 thank you in advance.
Yes, typically that's what I'd do. Keep paint loaded on one brush designated with that color. These days though I'm washing brushes out much more and using sanitizer spray between kids. Totally up to you and how you feel your area is reacting to covid. Personally I think if parents are letting their kids get painted they are not very worried about covid.
Hello. I am not exactly newbie, but I am going out on my own. My question is how to get a hold of the example pictures that the kids choose from. For any shows you do. I do not want to use copyright protected.
Do you wash your brush/get a fresh sponge for each kid? Or do you reuse them for so long? Also, how long does the splits last you? I am working a booth for work and we are expecting several kiddos. Wondering how much supplies to get?
I reuse my brushes but rinse them with water. I use a new sponge on every child when doing full face designs but will reuse a sponge if I'm just stars on a forehead.
How many designs do you usually present for options for the kids to choose from when you work a school festival? I have student volunteers that help me, and I try to offer designs that will be easy to replicate, but I find they often refer the kids to me for many. I recently invested in a variety of stencils to help with this, but I think I’m offering too many options, usually at least 20. Any suggestions? Love your videos BTW, so informative!🥰
Many of them I did get from Amazon many years ago. Unfortunately, if they are not the BAM stencils they don't have name or number so you just have to search around.
To start, Amazon is a great bet. Just search for face painting split cakes and pick the ones you think look nice. I also have links under lots of my videos too.
Hi Ariel, I don’t know if you still take video ideas, but how do you sterilize brushes in between clients? I am a makeup artist and even though I always clean and sterilize brushes in between clients, during Covid we are carrying multiple sets of brushes so everyone gets a fresh set . Then of course, have to clean and sterilize at home. What do you do ?
I always take suggestions but I’ve been pretty adamant not to do cleaning/sanitation videos. Even prior to covid. I’ve seen people share their process on Facebook and it always turns into a “who’s the cleanest” battle and gets very hard to reflect regulations and rules in different countries, states and regions. I recommend searching the subject in Facebook forums and reading through the comments and make your own best judgment.
@@Arielpaints thanks so much for your reply Ariel! I have been so inspired by your channel. I appreciate your response, I did find some information very similar to the way we sterilize in makeup artistry. Please keep posting! ♥️

Many of them I did get from Amazon many years ago. Unfortunately, if they are not the BAM stencils they don't have name or number so you just have to search around.
What was that magenta to lime green one stroke you used for the princess crown?
It's one of Leanne Courtney's cakes...maybe Island girl? I'm not 100% sure.
For the batman, do you get the eyebrows too?
I usually keep it just above the eyebrows.
Where can I get some simple cakes? I heard you say you made yours. Your videos have been very helpful to me - thanks!
To start, Amazon is a great bet. Just search for face painting split cakes and pick the ones you think look nice. I also have links under lots of my videos too.
Where do you get the dagger brushes?
every face painting shop has them but I use Blazin brushes and The Face Painting Shop's brush.
Nice! What would you call the truck/ tire tracks on a design list?
I just have it listed as "truck" on my board.
Also Ariel, where would I get the truck & tread stencils?
@@kimber6650 it’s from Ooh stencils. Their website or a face painting shops website.
Where do you get your stencils and daubers?
From Amazon. They are linked in my store front under Beginner face paint supplies. Link under my videos. ☺️
What would you charge to do birthday parties?
Usually $250 to start but I custom quote everything.
I appreciate you making this video. Ill be doing my first event tomorrow GOD say the same! JESUS bless you! 🙏🏾🙌🏾✝️‼️
I hope it went well!
I recommend cinema secrets it's a spray on that dries within seconds
Can you use PARADISE cakes with dobbers?
I don't see why not. use whatever works for you.
Hi! What is the brush you are using for the one stroke designs? Is it the flat angle one?
It’s a face painting shop 3/4” flat brush.
