So much fun, I agree. Just this weekend I got a very squirmy girl- one of the worst Minnie Mouses I have ever done- but she actually started clapping when she saw it in mirror- So happy. It is a special gift to do what we do.
Can you show us how you blend the colours on the sponge before you start painting, and how your paint and tools look like!! And do you use water with paint?? Thanks
I’m definitely gonna subscribe. I signed up for face painting last October and had so much fun. All the kids were so happy and seeing the smiles made me love doing it even more. I hope to learn more from your vids so I can keep putting smiles on their faces like you do😁
I need the 20 steps that precede this video. For an absolute beginner, what is a spongecake? How would I load it up with rainbow colors? What brush did you use for the lines?
Such a good question! I just dust it on, and trust a little to stick around. There are so many mays to get glitter to stick- I will have to show you sometime!
Great question Melissa, a lot you can buy locally. Brushes, water baths, kit bags etc. Glitter and paint you want to find a retailer that ships to where you are. Jestpaint, sillyfarm, facepaintforumshop, are all great places. Best of luck!
Could you pretty please name the colours you made that splitcake of. I've been trying to recreate that cake for months, and am close to desperation. I read somewhere you cut up tag sunset and add teal? I would really appreciate a hint, and thanks for all your wonderful work.
Is it safe to put the paint that close to the eyes? I haven’t started yet but I’m gonna be using Diamond fx (indiv) and Maydear (split cakes) which they say is non toxic.
It is a great question- and there are some different answers out there. #1 - women put makeup by their eyes all the time- which uses many of the same ingredients. 2 - most designs you can skip that part and it still looks great- so if you’re worrried just skip it. #3 - different colors have been tested and have fda regulations and you can find that on the back of the paint in small print. I often avoid red on the eyes and blue on the lips- good luck with your new paint.
Good question!- with Covid right now- one sponge per child is really important. They also make sanitizing sprays you can use to kill any germs on your paint- Make sure it is made for cosmetics!!
Just look for good quality face paint. Start slow- you do not need every color to paint a beautiful face. Build your kit as you discover products you love. Jest Paint and Silly Farm are both good companies. Soon I will have some beginner kits up on fairyfoxstore.com too.
Hi Amy, you are asking the right questions, how did your parties go?? I know what a joy painting can be, look for professional water based paint (silly farm has amazing supplies) best of luck!
@@fairyfox so our parties will be booking soon. Because of covid we slowed down.im a licensed hairdresser but thus is new for me. I have great brushes .thanks for your help! Its amazing to see these colors not mesh together and it looks gorgeous.thanks for the tutorial i will be using your advice!
The face paint I have (which is only three colors) says you shouldn’t use it on the eyes, but I’ve seen cosplays and tutorials such as this one where face paint is going on the eyes. I wanna get into face paint (and I do want to put a mask like design where my eyes are) but concerned about what the effects might be. So is it or is it not okay to put it on the eyes???
Such a good question! Truth is, it depends. Quality counts! Sometimes makeup says not to use by eyes because it is not safe, and sometimes it says not to because it hasn't been tested. Doing it on yourself and doing it on someone else are different too. You get to pick your own risks- and I think we should be careful what risks we pick for others. Remember that make up is used by the eyes all the time. Following packaging is important. Maybe buy new better paint?
Do you ever let someone apprentice or assist you...i have an art background with a little bit of everything and graphics ...i am now 57 taking care of my elderly parents and am trying to make ends meet. You are asking the right questions! a 50gm cake of paint that is normally applied with a sponge. I use a #4 round for my lines.
Happy Painting.

This is wonderful
Hi! You need a sponge, round brush and flat brush, then you need a red-pink-white split cake and a rainbow cake. Plus a kids face of course!!
@@fairyfox that was very helpful. Thank you :)
What type of rainbow cake is this? Looking to find the exact one with those colors…
Could you pretty please name the colours you made that splitcake of. I've been trying to recreate that cake for months, and am close to desperation. I read somewhere you cut up tag sunset and add teal? I would really appreciate a hint, and thanks for all your wonderful work.
Haha! It was so long ago, it is hard to remember. I would guess yes, yellow, neon orange, neon pink, purple, turquoise. Or blue would do.
Thanks a lot Laura! And thanks for all your work in general. As with many of your followers, you sparked the joy in me for facepainting.
Where did you get your sponges?
So Beautiful ...
Very beautiful designs excellent 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
SO PRETTY!!! 😍😍😍
Thank you!
Do you have a video of what brushes and paint is needed? My Fiance wants to start painting so i wanted to get her some items for her to pratice.
Which face paints do you recommend from Amazon?
Can you link brushes and sponges you use in this tutorial?
Can you tell what split cake that is?
It is actually a custom made one I put together- It has yellow, neon orange, dark pink, purple and teal I think!
So pretty. Lovely work as always.
Can you do a video like this (in depth) on how to do butterflies? 😍
What paints did you used?
What size brush are you using for the tear drops? Also what face paint make do you prefer to use?
I like a #5 round, Wolfe and Dfx are my go tos for white line work.
I’m just such a fan of your work..huge fan..would love to be painted by you and just have an awesome conversation with you about life and art.. ❤️❤️❤️
Aww so pretty!
What is the paint you have used ? Please .
Mostly Tag brand custom rainbow, I just use yellow-orange-pink-purple-teal, in regular and occasionally neons.
@@fairyfox what did you use for the white paint and glitter? Love your work!!
@@soledad_23 Wolfe white- and just a loose cosmetic glitter. I think it is probably fairy blue (face paint forum shop) one of my favs.
@@laurapennock6357 thank you can you use any brushes? Or has to be from face and paint shops?
Thank you 😁

I use TAG high density pink, I actually sell them! Check out my etsy shop fairy fox design, and we can get you some.
I have some oil based face paint by the brand jovi thats a bit dry, is there anything i can do? thank you
What pencils do you use?
It is a paint brush not a pencil..
What facepaint do you use
What if you have to reapply the paint for the second eye how do you keep the paint clean for the next person? Thanks that was such a beautiful job!
Good question!- with Covid right now- one sponge per child is really important. They also make sanitizing sprays you can use to kill any germs on your paint- Make sure it is made for cosmetics!!

loew cornell 7000 is my favorite- round brushes are so wonderful.

I know this was done 3 years ago but could you tell me the type of paint brush and paints you use?
3/4 inch flat and a custom tag rainbow cake.

Probably a silly question but how do you load your sponge with the one stroke?
Not silly at all. Spritze the sponge a couple times and push down on the cake with even pressure.
Heya! Do you paint her lips with facepaint, or did you use lipstick? Thanks :)
Either works- paint is safe on the lips, but it is dry and tastes terrible- lip gloss on a q-tip is my favorite, but it doesn't stand out as strong.
What does the pan look like that you load the sponge up with?
Just a regular “50 gm rainbow cake” this is tag brand.
Nice idea. I will try it
So beautiful!💗
How much do you charge per event ?
Love this 💖 thank you for sharing your gorgeous work and awesome tips 🙏🙏
Omg that’s so fun!
Thanks.
So cute!!
What face paint do u recommend? Great job btw 😊👍🏼🥰
Face paint! haha. I like Tag and fusion, but there are many wonderful brands out there.
The brother in the background snitching lmao 😂
What is the name of the paint you used for this face painting , I mean which company and from where you bought it. Thank you
Tag is my favorite brand. Most face painting distributors carry it- you can also purchase on Amazon.
