I worked for a high-end restaurant named Confettis, in Branson, MO. The owner was there with us every day and kept high standards on everything. One night, a snobbish woman asked if the heat could be turned up because she was cold. The waitress took the request to him. He respectfully went to the table and declined her request. She began berating him on how he ran the restaurant. His demeanor changed. He told her that the people that were there to serve her, were there from open to close, and that they run there asses off. It stays cool for them, as her visit is maybe an hour. He added that she should bring a sweater. She did the typical "I'm never coming here again". He said "Fine. And I'm asking you to leave now, and don't come back". I developed a great respect out of that moment for him.
Edit: I guess I'll have to elaborate a little on this, since some of you arent getting the context. This was over 30 yrs ago. A different time, when people were different. And he didn't treat everyone like this. The part I didn't elaborate, was how vile the lady was. By today's standards, she would have been comparable to a lot of the Karens today.

One employer was cutting our pay because of the economy. So the work that I did wasn't reflecting in my checks every week. It was stressful and heartbreaking. Took me 3 years and when I quit, the bosses wife wanted to Know why? I gave her the truth and left her standing there with her jaw on the floor. Went back for a short visit several years later and she wanted to hire me and I said no thanks. So happy left. She was actually one of my clients. (Massage therapist). Good, responsible, skilled therapists are so hard to find. I've been a massage therapist for twenty years with a lot of experience and care for my clients. I don't need an employer whom steals money that you worked so hard for and expects you to succeed it up because of the economy. This was years before the virus happened.

Upper management got to their positions by threats and intimidation and they reward mid management for doing the same. Supervisors who were kind and listened to employees were considered pariahs and never received bonuses or promotions. That place sucked, but had great benefits and paychecks. Edit: I suggest y’all move to an employer that shows appreciation. Either through pay or culture. Feel bad for your families, you choose to stay in a job you obviously don’t like. You have a choice to stay or go.
I know most don’t care about their employees. But some do, if you don’t like where you are leave. If you can’t leave cause you dug your own hole with bills then stfu
I own a business now and yea I care about my employees. I pay well above market and they are happy. Anyway, I’ve spoke to a lot of people, y’all seem like the kind that it doesn’t really matter what I say.
