Heart of Stone from Six. Being Alive from Company. Burn from Hamilton.
You missed a few… No One Is Alone from Into The Woods, You’ll Never Walk Alone from Carousel, Burn from Hamilton. And I Dreamed A Dream should be #1 and As Long As He Needs Me needs to be top 10 not just honorable mention
Movie in My Mind too
Totally agree with you. "No One is Alone" and "You'll Never Walk Alone" should be listed, but I also think "One Song, Glory" should have been listed instead of an honorable mention.
I guess they’ll be making a top 20
Kiss Today Goodbye?
I’m a simple woman. I sees Broadway, I clicks! But please, Ms Mojo, when the beautiful Music of the Night is in the list stop using Butler’s mangled version! Give us Ramin and Michael who know how to actually sing and have incredible voices!
I agree and I'll throw Anne Hathaway's over-acted I Dreamed a Dream in for good measure.
Best broadway Ballads
Till there was you - The Musical Man
Somewhere over the rainbow- Wizard of Oz
I am not that girl- Wicked
I know where I’m very been- Hairspray
Home-Beauty and the beast
Was not expecting to get hit with Send in the Clowns. The drum and bugle corps I marched with, Santa Clara Vanguard, uses that as the corps song. It holds an extremely special place in my heart.
"On My Own" is for your teenage years, "I Dreamed a Dream" is for your adult years.
This is a hard list to narrow down! I believe all these do deserve the recognition as well as those mentioned in the comments. But I personally think Days of Plenty from Little Women should have been mentioned. It’s a mix of heartbreak and hope as a mother grapples with her own feelings of loss while also comforting her grieving daughter. It’s a very underrated musical but has some majestic songs
The impossible dream - Man of La Mancha.
Love me a good Broadway ballad! 🥰😭🙌
Sondheim wrote Send in the Clowns for Glynnis John who could sing four notes. Saw her in the show and could never understand why she was hired
Nothing from Miss Saigon???? Some of the most emotional, beautiful songs are in that score. 😮
I would add "Papa Can You Hear Me?" from Yentl, that song changed me to the core
Wait..hold on a minute. Why does everyone automatically pick I Dreamed a Dream? On My Own or Bring Home (especially sung by Colm Wilkinson) are powerful and emotional. Someone Like You from Jekyll and Hyde,What I Did For Love from.a Chorus Line. How did you overlook those???
I think I Dreamed a Dream definitely deserved to be in the top 10, but I love Someone Like You and think it deserved to be in the top 10 as well. It's a beautiful song and one of my favorites. If you don't mind a male cover of this song, I can't recommend the Voctave version of this song enough.
You forgot Your Eyes from Rent it’s so beautiful. Although, I am happy that Somewhere from West Side Story is on this list
It's a good list, for sure. I'm not sure I could choose just 10.
I would really have liked to see "In His Eyes" and / or "Someone Like You" show up here, however. The former, I think, is a stronger female-pair ballad than "I Know Him So Well."
Happy new year.
Where is Burn from Hamilton?!?
What about “For Good” from Wicked?
A melancholy and beautiful friendship goodbye.
In my opinion, the film adaptation used "I Dreamed a Dream" more effectively, by having Fantine sing "I Dreamed a Dream" after being forced to prostitute herself, as opposed to simply being fired. You can feel so many emotions.
I definitely agree with these pics. Thanks, Emely, and a happy sunday (and new year) to you as well, take care and God bless you, and greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Nothing from Wicked?
What about:
.If I Can't Love Her from Beauty and the Beast
.Santa Fe from Newsies the Musical
.I Don't Know How to Love Him or Gethsamane from Jesus Christ Superstar
.Close Every Door from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
.I Know Where I've Been from Hairspray
.Monster from Frozen the Musical
.Climb Every Mountain from The Sound of Music
You missed “In His Eyes” from Jekyll & Hyde.
1:52
Suddenly Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors.
Tears😢
👍🏻
I saw Cats performed live when I was like 11, they came off the stage to interact with us on some songs and I was near the front
Movie in My Mind from Miss Saigon
Send in the clowns is my karaoke song! I love it, and it's pretty straightforward to sing 🥰
I always thought "part of your world" and "proud of your boy" from Aladdin sounded the same. Hell, 2 of the 4 words are exactly the same.
But not a single Kander & Ebb song - A Quiet Thing, Maybe This Time, The Money Tree, And The World Goes 'Round, Sometimes A Day Goes By, Dear One, If You Leave Me Now and All The Children in a Row are all iconic ballads.
No mention of "For Good" or "I'm not that Girl"...sorry...the list is very flawed
Quit calling 'Cats' silly! It's not the only time you've done it. It was one of the most successful Broadway plays around. It's beautiful. Just the way the cast moves is a marvel; they've got the mannerisms of cats down perfectly. And it's based on poetry. It is not silly. Or maybe you just don't like felines.
Not one ballad by the GREATEST Broadway ballad writers of all time : Frank Wildhorn
"Someone Like You* or " A New Life" from " Jekyl and Hyde"
The fact that there was zero Ms. Saigon on here is criminal
Press conference: A.L.W., "Why do people take an instant dislike to me?" Reporter, "It saves time."
Glynnis Johns performs the ultimate rendition of "Send in the Clowns!"
This is missing “And Eve was Weak” from Carrie
Happy new year Eve msmojo
My favorites are:
Once Upon a Dream from Jekyll and Hyde
The Wizard and I from Wicked
Memory from Cats
I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables.
I Don't Know How to Love Him from Jesus Christ Superstar
Is This Home from Beauty and the Beast
I'm Not Going from Dreamgirls
Burn from Hamilton
I just hear songs that glee did!!!!
Is "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" not a ballad???
Your choice is biased against those broadway fans that hate clowns. I personally hated send in the clowns since Judy sang it in Good Times and left JJ who was her was her manager
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again Phantom, I Am What I Am La Cage, Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story Hamilton.
It makes me a little nuts when I click on a video that says best BROADWAY and these Mojo channels insist on showing a clip from a movie.
In my opinion, Anne Hathaway's version of I Dreamed a Dream pales in comparison to any of the amazing women who played Fantine on stage.
If you want to show clips from movies, do a list of top songs in movie musical.
Well, you got 1,2,3, and 5 right. To me, the others aren't ballads. But that's just my opinion.
This should've been a top 20...oh well
They’re probably going to one
