Danny Ashforth okay so you must be thinking of Gerard Butler because Ramin hits the softer perfectly he puts a lot of feeling in his performances. I highly doubt ALW would've hand-picked him to play Phantom in 25th anniversary if he didn't put feeling in his performance or wasn't hitting the softer notes right.
Nobody hits that last final note like Sierra. I remember growing up hearing so many actresses singing this and I always thought "God that last note is high" then Sierra comes along and shatters my tv screen.... I thought I've heard it all lmao.

I like JOJ as the phantom more (despite how dreamy and electric Ramin is ) because this is essentially a story of a young girl beguiled/groomed by an older gentleman (which JOJ pulls like boss). The apparent age difference has be there for the story to have that kick in the stomached!
I think John Owen Jones' voice fits the character of the phantom better, but I think Ramin is the better actor (not to mention his chemistry with Sierra is haaaht)
I disagree about the voice. JOJ's voice is beautiful but much more traditional. He sounds like any romantic gentleman in musical theatre. Ramin's voice has much more vocal "ping", which makes him seem more powerful, and his voice is much more unique, which makes him more mysterious.
Fun Fact: John Owen-Jones was considered to be The Phantom in “The Phantom of the Opera Live at the Royal Albert Hall” but Ramin was chosen because of his chemistry with Sierra. {IMO, that’s bullshit because JOJ is a way better Phantom tbh. But chemistry is important. But still, I still feel JOJ is better.}
I'd believe that, even though I don't know if it's true or not lol. JOJ has the BEST voice, honestly. If I had to imagine the perfect male singing voice, his would be it. Ramin's voice is edgier and less trained. But Ramin and Sierra have the best chemistry of any Phantom/Christine pairing I've ever seen. He visualised the character from the first time ALW played him the Overture, he was obsessed with the movement and use of his hands to convey the Phantoms torment and vocally he absolutely nailed every song and the emotions give me goosebumps
@Bex Lane Crawford is absolutely exquisite. Homie won that Tony for a reason. He performed "Phantom Of the Opera" with a female singer about a decade ago in a televised performance - his presence during that performance was incredible. He was in a simple black suit, no makeup or anything of course, but he embodied the Phantom with every thread of his soul, so fantastic. I've always loved his Phantom, and his will always be my favorite, but occasionally there's that particular performer that makes you just kind of pause in awe. John Owen is 100% that dude. Just amazing.
I've never seen John Owen Jones in full Phantom costume before.... I'm not saying I'm anti-Ramin, but Ramin hasn't got that "it" factor like JOJ has. Damn.
Camera person. Rule no. 1: Never, never, take the camera off the phantom. His movements are part of the eipicness. I am a MC fan but this guy nails it, and then you go ahead and take him out of frame Just no, not even a few seconds, especially towards the end. He has a build up of emotion/sensuousness as he asks her to sing for him at 3:42, it got interrupted. Aside from this, impressed with his interpretation.
Shockwave 11 that’s one of the low key most ironic parts of the Phantom’s show - the hair slick, the sexual body rub, the wind up into the spring forward for her to release to all in barely-subliminal sexual energy.
Recently, I got myself a DVD of The 25th anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera in which Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess were in it. Also I bought a Phantom movie made in 2004 on DVD 📀 which Gerald Butler and Emmy Rossum. were in it . Now I also want to get myself the stage drama of The Phantom of the Opera played by Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, also the one which John Owen Jones and Sierra Boggess in it as well as the one which Sierra Boggess and Hugh Panaro perform.
I'm SO happy John Owen Jones is now Phantom on the west end! he is my favourite along with Ramin, and it was incredible to see him with celinde and the rest of the new west end cast last week!!
Sierra is lovely but here, she seems to be either sick or for some reason, she's holding back. Ramin and his chemistry and acting with her(Sierra) exceeds John's but John's vocal abilities are better
Do you guys know how hard it is to hit those notes and have that much control. I did it and it feels like you’re doing like 50 sit ups in a row. That one was live. The other one you saw probably for 25th anniversary was most likely recorded.
Siena Shawver I think she sounds lovely during all of her performances, I’ve watched multiple videos of her singing it live and while it’s not her best in my opinion, it is still phenomenal! ☺️
This is the first time I am watching JOJ and Sierra sing this together. Wow. Couldn’t really tell from the 25th Ann performances but JOJ is a super hot POTO! Here's why I say so : 0:43 ahhh the hand … fingers spread … so sexy. 1:13 the way his hands jerked the oar … this may need a R Rating! And though you tuuuuuuuurrn from me - wow that was probably the most sexy I have heard it sung, powerful one second ago and suddenly the emotion drops to dang it sexy! Now we all know what his bedroom voice sounds like! And at 1:32, the way he thrust out his hands so commandingly, yes yes I will take your hands, say no more! 1:44, the way he stiffens his back … that was the sound of me fainting. 1:58, I know we all (mostly) ship Rierra but the hands, the hands of JOJ as he touches her face … if this performance had continued, Christine might have gone off with POTO instead of Raoul haha. And the way he takes off his cloak … whoaaaaa don’t stop, don’t stop! At 2:45, JOJ does that clenching of his fist. Saw Ramin do that too but the way Ramin did it, I must say, it was more sexy because his hand went lower Sierra’s body and then he clenched his fist and pulled it up. I had to pause to get a very icy glass of water to drink and am still in therapy over it! After JOJ licks his lip (I can’t talk about it), he runs his hand down her arm as in actual touching. I don’t remember seeing Ramin do that but I could be wrong. 3:04, the way he stands … very predatory and so very sexy if you like the powerful kind of man … like like!! And his hands, his hands the entire “Sing, sing for me” segment … Definitely a very sexy POTO in case I wasn’t clear earlier haha. Comparing this performance to the Classic Brit Awards 2012 though, Sierra here was pretty passive compared to how she seemed to almost pursue Ramin in that performance (actions wise). Though … I am very confused. This is the year of the 25th Ann performance? But it would seem then that in a very short space of time JOJ put on so much weight, he was almost double in size! hmmm
I was wondering about that too. But then I thought maybe he was at his normal walking around wait at the 25th at the RAH? Like he'd lost weight for this show?
JOJ also tragically overlooked for the 2019 Staged Concert live broadcast of Les Mis despite doing most the shows as Alfie Boe seemed to be sick an awful lot. Should have got the live gig. JOJ’s vocal range unmatched for Phantom too.
Marsaisa Byrd if anything I’d say it’s a compliment to him, nearly - my tops are Crawford, Panaro and JOJ. They’re the only ones who really capture the haunting, controlled insanity of the Phantom that’s beautifully conveyed through his voice.
John Owen Jones is absolutely AMAZING! He has a fantastic voice and is a great phantom - one of the greatest! PLUS he is the nicest, most funny person ever when you meet him :)
This is a completely different interpretation of the dynamic than you see with Ramin Karimloo , Michael Crawford (or any of the others). I love how each Phantom relates to "his" Christine in a unique way (and as his partner, Sierra Boggess follows their lead with confidence and charisma).
John Owen Jones has been the single only person I have EVER thought fit the role vocally as perfect as Michael Crawford himself. Absolutely incredible.
I totally agree with you. And I think it's because it's live, and her vibrato sounds just perfect here. It almost makes me wish that she sang it live all the time...if I didn't know how hard that would be on her voice lol
I also think that this is probably one of her first performances of Phantom of the Opera since in 2011, she's actually doing Love Never Dies... idk... I like her vibrato here, it's FULLer and less... screechy? im not sure...
On every video I see where the Phantom is singing I ALWAYS see comments like "Ramin is better", or "Rierra is the best," Like can people please have some respect for the other phantoms, without having to comment about which they think is better?
The moment when you started to doubt if you need to choose between Ramin or JOJ
I chose JOJ

Ramin karimloo,of course.

John Jones is probably the best interpreter of this amazing opera.
musical*
I’m sorry but owen licking his lips made me fall over
Sierra is lovely but here, she seems to be either sick or for some reason, she's holding back.
Ramin and his chemistry and acting with her(Sierra) exceeds John's but John's vocal abilities are better
Life According to Me I think it’s because She’s done it so many times since 2011 she’s vocally improved. But agreed.... still a queen tho!!
Do you guys know how hard it is to hit those notes and have that much control. I did it and it feels like you’re doing like 50 sit ups in a row. That one was live. The other one you saw probably for 25th anniversary was most likely recorded.
I hate how the music always drowns out Christine’s cadenza 😣
Siena Shawver I think she sounds lovely during all of her performances, I’ve watched multiple videos of her singing it live and while it’s not her best in my opinion, it is still phenomenal! ☺️
he is definitely a good phantom He’s very intense
It's weird seeing them out on the boat at the beginning of the Title Song, haha.
JOJ is literally the phantom with the best voice, every time he opened his mouth,I got chills.
I saw him live in London last Christmas and it was the most amazing experience ever
Norm Lewis
+Kevin Pra Direita? same
+shahdae williams His voice is amazing
His best friend Matt Cammelle was better than him.
this is the most odd but really awesome performance of this song ive ever seen like its so quiet in some places but its also really amazing
Everything about this is perfect.
This is the first time I am watching JOJ and Sierra sing this together. Wow. Couldn’t really tell from the 25th Ann performances but JOJ is a super hot POTO! Here's why I say so :
0:43 ahhh the hand … fingers spread … so sexy.
And his hands, his hands the entire “Sing, sing for me” segment …
Definitely a very sexy POTO in case I wasn’t clear earlier haha.
Comparing this performance to the Classic Brit Awards 2012 though, Sierra here was pretty passive compared to how she seemed to almost pursue Ramin in that performance (actions wise).
Though … I am very confused. This is the year of the 25th Ann performance? But it would seem then that in a very short space of time JOJ put on so much weight, he was almost double in size! hmmm
I swear, you just read my mind and articulated each and every one of my thoughts.... O.o
I was wondering about that too. But then I thought maybe he was at his normal walking around wait at the 25th at the RAH? Like he'd lost weight for this show?
That quiver in his voice 😘
All I'm gonna say is that's how you undress
Jea Lbs YES!
I am in love with sierra's nightgown
Accio1173 it's from love never dies London 😂
@@benedictaneysamarsana7046 I never noticed that! That's cool! I literally had to compare this video with images from the show
JOJ is a wonderful Phantom!
That dramatic break through the fog though...
Man I wish John had done the 25th anniversary of Phantom He deserved it but like the 25th anniversary of Les Mis it was not to be. Bummer.
he should off as he way better than ramin, just ramin and sierra are webbers blue eyes lol
JOJ also tragically overlooked for the 2019
Staged Concert live broadcast of Les Mis despite doing most the shows as Alfie Boe seemed to be sick an awful lot. Should have got the live gig. JOJ’s vocal range unmatched for Phantom too.
JOJ is just amazing, that's all I got to say!
I like this guys Phantom...sorry bout other opinions but he is the best one i have heard.... no disrespect to Crawford.
Marsaisa Byrd if anything I’d say it’s a compliment to him, nearly - my tops are Crawford, Panaro and JOJ. They’re the only ones who really capture the haunting, controlled insanity of the Phantom that’s beautifully conveyed through his voice.
@@BeWiL0991 Well yes that is where the bar is set.
I can’t get enough of this!! Breathtaking from both!
To me, this was a dream setup, my fav phantom AND fav Christine. Just spectacular.
JOJ is THE Phantom. I have seen no one that comes close, vocally or otherwise.
JOJ... Seriously the Best phantom alive and there ever will be
for me, Sierra bogges, Sarah brightman, and Emmy Rossum are the best Christine Daae ever!!!
+Jolina Quidet Uh huh :)
I agree!!!
I agree I love them
+Jolina Quidet Replace Brightman and Rossum with Rebecca Caine and Lisa Vroman and you're spot on
Jolina Quidet afzaaw
When he was touching "Christine's" Arm and rubbing it can't explain what I felt XD senpai notice me lol
There are no words that can complement Sierra boggess accurately. Her voice says it all she is the real Christine. Magical!
“ My power over you “ at 1:15, he grabs the oar like a boss.
John Owen Jones is absolutely AMAZING! He has a fantastic voice and is a great phantom - one of the greatest! PLUS he is the nicest, most funny person ever when you meet him :)
"Sing" at 4:05 Goose bumps all over skin.
this is the best version of phantom in this song that exists on this website
Idk why everytime he starts saying sing, sing for me, it makes me laugh a little bit hahaha
I was concerned that the gondola was going to fall off the stage! A. magical pairing, JOJis my Phantom, made me all girly x
I saw it 1990 in Hamburg and it was breathtaking!
This is a completely different interpretation of the dynamic than you see with Ramin Karimloo , Michael Crawford (or any of the others). I love how each Phantom relates to "his" Christine in a unique way (and as his partner, Sierra Boggess follows their lead with confidence and charisma).
Wow, they're amazing
Phantom is making my heart throb lol
I think this is my favourite version. 😍 There is just something in John Owen Jones' voice.
John Owen Jones has been the single only person I have EVER thought fit the role vocally as perfect as Michael Crawford himself. Absolutely incredible.
Everyone is crazy over Ramin, but I think John is better.... maybe it’s just me. We all have different opinions. ;3
i got the same mind with you. I love JOJ !
I like Ramin enough but JoJ is better IMO, he’s more how I imagine the Phantom to be
LOL The comments for this video are the best as of yet. Thank you all for the delightful, cheerful read. ^_^ Made me feel better.
This, for me, is Sierra's best rendition of the high notes...
Both the best Phantom/Valjean and the best Christine performing together! I would love to see JOJ and Sierra in "The Phantom of the Opera" together!!!
On every video I see where the Phantom is singing I ALWAYS see comments like "Ramin is better", or "Rierra is the best," Like can people please have some respect for the other phantoms, without having to comment about which they think is better?
My favorite phantom of all time
Nicole Rok Mine too.
Isn't that Christine's nightgown from LND London?
Yes
It's like JOJ was first and THEN ALW created the phantom of the opera just for his voice ❤️
Okay but can we talk about Sierra's wig?
John Owen Jones is proof that Wales is the land of song. Makes me proud.
Wow. What a seductive Phantom❤️❤️❤️
