What is a MOBA?
Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, or MOBAs for short, originated as a sub-genre of the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) genre. Because of this, in most MOBA games, the player takes control of a single character from the isometric (top-down) view akin to most RTS games. Typically, in MOBA games, a player takes control of a single character on one of two teams. Those players choose characters that all have their own abilities, or “kits”. To win, the players must use a combination of abilities, teamwork, and strategy to not only best their opponent, but destroy the opponents main structures. A bonus to the genre is that most MOBAs are free games, which is definitely a contributing factor of the their massive success. The genre has many titles, the largest of which being Defense of the Ancients (DoTA) and DoTA 2, League of Legends (LoL), and most recently SMITE!
What is SMITE?
SMITE is one of the more recent free MOBA games to enter the fray. In SMITE you don’t just choose a character, you choose a god. You’ll instantly feel an attachment to characters like Thor and Zeus because even if you don’t know the lore behind them, you’ve at least heard their names before! What makes SMITE so immersive is Hi-Rez Studios’ inclusion of historical lore into the gods’ abilities, kits, and play styles. Thor and Loki aren’t just characters from Marvel comics and movies. They’re also a part of Norse mythology and you can take control of them in SMITE!
What makes SMITE different?
SMITE takes all of the strategy of the top MOBA games and adds another layer of difficulty by putting you into the action! Unlike most MOBA games, SMITE offers players the chance to experience the MOBA genre they know and love from a third-person perspective. This unique perspective allows for an extremely immersive experience unlike any other game in the genre. While this doesn’t sound like such a big change, once you play it you’ll understand! All of these things added together is what has gaming websites everywhere continually rating SMITE as one of the best MOBA games available!

think this is my favourite smite reveal lore video, love the way smite lady (dont know her real name) tells the stories. she would be quite good on audible books. also the april fools vid is hilarious between her and the over voice overs. will we be getting amaterasu's brother one day? wanna see how the team designs him since hes been in alot of media (shin megami, persona, digimon etc)

Holy crap. I mentioned they should add the Japanese Pantheon, notably Amaterasu, way back around when Janus was released! Awesome that they finally did!
Haven't seen a God reveal since Dawngate came out. Nice to see a little change of the lore telling.
And plus a lot of people didn't know who amaterasu was unless they watched naruto which is how most people even know the name i wish they would just read her whole story its honestly amazing and im glad you guys put her in

Amaterasu's passive: WHen she die, she may chose to reborn instantly at that location with full health and mana and gain damage and CC immunity for 2 seconds. Or She can chose to reborn at base instantly and gain 80% movement speed for 5 seconds when leaving the fountain.
But she can only revive 7 times. After 7 times. She can't respawn again.

John wolf It's too good if she not die over 7 times. But if she do, she's out.
And of course each time she die, It's really count to enemies kill and her dead. And they will get gold for that.
So I think the strategy is to focus on her early game to make the game become 5 v 4 after she die 7 times.

Actually I wasn't 100% serious about that comment. That passive is just based on her line "I may fall seven times but will rise up each" I didn't see her lore say anything about that though.
Yes. An ability that may stop a god from respawn for the res of the game is too strange. We have abilities to revive, to make people move unintended, to blind the screen, Even buy item without have to be in fountain. But we didn't have any abilities that affect how a god spawn.(Khepri, Kumba, Chiron, Kali doesn't count because they didn't actually dead so it's not affect respawn time)
So I guess respawn time will remain untouched. In Yugi-oh (a trading card game) there even a card that make 2 players shake hand lol. But no card stop a player from losing after their Life point reach 0.
Hopefully this leads to a Susano'o

Friend just made me realize that Amaratsu's ult is basically the old Guan Yu ult. Insane.
a dash that can interupt enemy dashes and a passive movement speed buff, it's going to be impossible to escape from her
Everyone, Report Amaterasu for camping
1.) Debuff aura. Up to 3 can be placed
2.) Fat movement speed buff aura or
3.) Damage aura. It's either 2 or 3, so she's never not buffed.
4.) Self-Heal
5.) Damage reduction
6.) Line of damage that charges during dmg reduction
7.) Silence
8.) Dash
9.) Cone Slow and
10.) Cone Stun, assuming you have a basic grasp of accuracy/aiming
While administering 9 and 10,
11.) Complete CC immunity
12.) Able to cover considerable distance with impunity

An interesting fact was left out of this lore. Namely, that Ame no Uzume was naked when she lured Amaterasu from the cave.

There are still Gods without reveals and if they do have them I haven't found them. I would have figured with how long this game has been out they'd all have reveals by now.

Will Samanosuke Akechi in Onimusha ever be in Smite? He is a history character though, just like Guan Yu.
Let me try to make up his abilities:
Warrior/Melee
Passive: When not moving, Samanosuke absorb fallen enemies soul 30 units around him to regain health and mana. 0.2% health and mana per enemy.(take time to absorb just like in the game Onimusha)
-Ability 1: Samanosuke dash forward and knock up enemies he pass through.
-Ability 2: Samanosuke attack around him (like Sun wukong)
-Ability 3: Samanisuke link himself to a targeted ally. He will take all damage deal to that target. The damage deal depend on Samanosuke's protection not the protected target (this link work like Aphrodite's kiss) This is kind of like a Samurai protect his Lord
-Ultimate: Samanosuke transform into a Demon (like in Onimusha) gain damage and health for 5 seconds.
Finally Amaterasu's in :D Can't wait for Susanoo, or maybe Ebisu would be interesting with a bonus gold passive :D

I for one vote for Inari, the fox god, Susano o, brother of Amaterasu and of course Izanagi and Izanami shouldn't miss! Oh and for a new god of the moon Tsukuyomi would be nice ;)

uh, within that celebration, sussanoo, also known as brave-swift-impetuous-male, was disgraced, cut off his hair, took of his nails, and took of his godhood, with the help the goddess usume, to make amaterasu come out, so yeah. sussanoo then travel the earth miyamoto musashi-style, only to rise back becoming the japan's first great emperor, even known today to be the ancestor of the today's japanese emperor. so yeah, he need to be in the game.
her ult is the original guan yu's. that's kinda hype cuz it was a good ult but not for a gaurdian

I see decent amount of opness in this god already... 2 aoe buffs and 1 aoe debuff (1 and passive), a shield and a ranged streightline aoe dmg (2), a silence/dmg dash (3), a 3 hit aoe ult with hard cc (4), if that package is not op, what is op then... plus she's a warrior, so I would assume a decent amount of tankiness... omg...she would destroy the lane and the jungle!
