If I ever saw a military exercise like that in my neighborhood, I’d be excited af. Y’all need to appreciate the fact that these servicemen’s jobs - directly or indirectly - are to repel foreign invaders.
Part of our appreciation for the power of our military comes from the fact that they're strong enough that we never have to see them in our neighborhoods because they're keeping the danger far from us.

For what reason would they need “tactical advantages” against a civilian populace that a majority are incredibly supportive of? Here in Canada, our own Military as well does training exercises in civilian urban areas, yet the population is notified that they will operating in the area not to be somewhat confused and not to curiously approach any service members while they are on duty.
@@spacemanapeinc7202really depends on the unit and location they're training in. of course you aren't gonna let the entirety of LA know about an exercise beforehand, whereas a city like Edmonton or Calgary can be notified in advance without the operators worrying about outside interference from spectators

Seeing this one year later makes all the sense. Those MH-60Ls and MH-6s are flown by the Army's 160th SOAR, the premier special operations aviation unit in the world. The passengers of those high speed rides were likely JSOC members, could be the Navy's famous DEVGRU (known as SEAL Team Six); the Army's CAG, commonly known as Delta Force; or the less known 24th Special Tactics Squadron of the US Air Force. Those urban trainings are not common, but they do happen from time to time. All made in assistance of local and state LE. Something similar happened in 1999 in Texas when Delta were conducting night urban training. It was known as "Operation Last Dance"

They have been doing these exercises like this for years in portland, oregon, though usually you can only see it if you live on a high floor of a multistory building. I miss being up high where I could see everything.

This happened a few months ago in Ogden Utah. They won't tell you why for safety. Urban combat. Not uncommon. They won't warn you. People who needed to know, knew. You as a citizen don't need to know. Protection for those who are training. Common sense.

We CAN do things just because we actually need to train. Sometimes in a more realistic environment. Even so, the police were even notified a LONG time in advanced to block the street off so the helicopters can land. This IS a drill.

That is crazy that they would do that training in live downtown LA without a notice. I'm a former enlisted Marine and we had simulated towns set up for practical application training. That would be motivating though.

It was no excercise. There was two explosive devices and you see them carried out wrapped in some type of protective gear. Plus it's common knowledge in the military circles.
You werent tier 1 operators though, that was 160th SOAR, 24 sts and DELTA Force. Tier 1 units.

@@redpilledcovfefe No, you literally can't. If it were an explosive device, it would have been defused on scene and the surrounding area would have been evacuated. For an explosive device, the military wouldn't have even been called in. This isn't Call of Duty. Then again, not even Call of Duty is unrealistic enough that soldiers carry out bomb defusal in LA with little bird helicopters.
I am friends with veterans and active duty service members and I plan to enlist, and I can assure you that no one I know would agree with you at all.

The drones that were "appearing" and then "disappearing" is what freaked me out because you couldn't tell what it/they were at first because it was dark and you couldn't "hear" them because they were up high then all of a sudden they would "appear" or "disappear"! A few years from now:
During an unannounced military exercise in downtown Chicago, military helicopters unloaded hundreds of troops who then sealed off all the major roads.
During simulated urban combat, a few thousand citizens were temporarily detained in makeshift prisoncamps in the basements of officebuildings.
After a few hours, the military commander declared the exercise a success and most barriers and roadblocks were lifted.
All the people who were detained will be released as soon as they have been properly interrogated and processed.
One part of the exercise, the military curfew starting from 18:30 till 4:30 will be maintained in the coming weeks.
The mayor and city law enforcement commented they were rather pleased with the positive effects on the overall crimerates which the military curfew has brought about.
