What a breath control in Kanada and sangathi in nadaswara bhani, oh. god this genious should sing for long. Deserving candidate perfectly fit for Sangeetha Kalandhi in 2015. The trio is the best combination, particularly Varadarajan can be compared with lalgudi, MSG, TNK. I wish this team is the best among contemporary music squad. God bless Sanjay for his variety, perfection and bridge from old and new.
Superb Asaveri and Kanada. Both accompanists are also excellent. Sri Sanjay is getting mellower and better with the passage of time. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania
2:50 Kalavathy raga siddhi vinAyakanE undan shen-caraNa malarait-tanjam enru nambinEn (Kavi kunjara bharathi) Asaveri ra ra ma inti daka o 13:20 kaanada alapana 21:30 krithi (P.sivan)
carnatic sastriya sangeeth , be it in tamil or telugu, or kannada or malayalam is nothing but bhakthi. Thus most of the songs of various composers of southern india should be sung with satva guna means conveying a meaning that '' except u no one else''. The song ''ra ra ma intidaka is full of incorrect pronunciations with no ''adrata '' . as i have been saying over over again the tamilian singers believe in singing ''mechanical perfect but not bhkthi perfect. i will give this air artist only 15% marks. he should listen to s.janaki singing ''ra ra ma inti daka or priya sisters or balamurali .
+Vemuri Purnachandrarao I beg to differ . Carnatic music, I feel is art music and its intent is not bhakti but just pure art even though the lyrics are religious in nature.
+Tushant Mittal , carnatic music is highly devotional & all great founding fathers of this music tradition were beleivers of God. Their intent was mainly bhakti & not mere entertainment.
While I admit that I do not know about the intentions of the founding fathers but the form it has taken today is very removed from religion just like science has separated itself from religion. Maybe, I am not very convincing but TM Krishna explains it quite well in his lecdems and in his book. Having said that, I will also agree that a musical performance must have a bhaava (what is referred to as adritta in the movie Shankarabharanam) just showcasing talent is not enough(Case in point is Kaushiki Chakroborthy .Though I absolutely love her performances, I find her obsession with technical masteries a bit overboard and destroying the feel). However, I feel that this 'adrittam' ha s more to do with musicality than bhakti. Anyways, I have just started listening to classical music and my knowledge is very limited and so there is every chance that I am wrong.
Vemuri Purnachandrarao I don't think you or I have wright to comment on the greatest musicians of our century.I don't think he made any pronunciation mistakes.he is one of the very greatest musicians.his rendering is ultimate.by the way what knowledge you have on classical music.
i once again repeat that bhakthi is the key factor of carnatic sastriya sangeeth.. second ''swapstatha '' (crystally clear pronunciation )&thirdly the context of the rendition -- the feelings as well as thoughts swirling in the mind of vaggayakara or composer must be the basis. bhakthi is noise oriented association.if in noise,if the above three aspects are taken in to account then every aspect of carnatic sastriya sangeeth will sit as mentioned in music book.means the raga, tala ,the sangatulu etc.means that the above three factors are the common factors in mathematical terminology as applied to carnatic sastriya sangeeth. after bhakthi comes gyana or south-- gnanamu. the state of self elevation. means there is no god or religion.. my own self i have to elevate with my own effort. the state of difference between ramayana rama & bare rama nama pronunciation. this is next higher level of carnatic sastriya sangeeth viz.veda knowledge with perfect pronunciation. in yajurveda --shukla adhaya --the heart of vedas --'' atman atman nitya mantrayata''. with my atma shakthi i recite veda that is various facets of atman to remain forever in atma state. i will never come out. that is the state of liberation viz.mukthi.where is god or religion here? the only path to mukthi is singing carnatic sastriya sangeeth. i am around 80+years. an engineer of aerospace --stress analysis -a german mech.enggr.. i love tamilians for their love with tenacity . for keeping ''thyagayya & shyamasastri live even today. maths.&physics are two legs of engg. with which i approach every subject under the sky. i have no hatred against tamil. but if sanjay wants to sing ''ra ra maa inti daka--a thyagaraja composition ,he must have working knowledge of telugu language. without that --(i call it jeeva) -- it becomes mechanical . audacity many great sastriya sangeeth experts exhibit. it tantamounts lack of or devoid of bhakthi. that singing is a waste. 99.9 % carnatic sastriya sangeeth scholars are full of headstrongness .even ms amma is no exception. i find only ''priya sisters '' are up to the level. kindly listen to their ''annaamayya' song -''talise ta mokshamu taliakunna bhandhamu''.it will help u & sanjay.
