This is why collectors make the best dealers. If dealing with this type of stuff isn't enjoyable for a dealer, they are probably in the wrong business. Most of what you buy is not going to be a home run. First, and foremost, it is a hobby. It looks like a fun mixed lot of goodies to me. Cheers!

Its a shame how people were scammed to buy many of those coins for extremely higher prices than what they are worth.
This is what makes the hobby fun and interesting. We have taken losses but also have had some really good finds. Hopefully my grandchildren will appreciate and enjoy what is being left to them and have as much fun as I had.

I really liked this video. The coins and items you showed are like the items that I collect. I just like coins because they are mini pieces of art. Yes, they can be gold or silver, but the really interesting part is the design, age, and type of coin. I guess you can call me the common collector who collects because I love the hobby and its products.

It's artistic to some people, but in reality, they are considered altered coins and they lose some of their value.

I swear, some of the most liquid precious metals I've seen sell for crazy prices are those silver bullets. From the 1 ounce to the 20 ounce.
You as a dealer have time also invested in every coin and every piece of currency. Your time is money. You have to do the research. Take the pictures. Post those pictures. Figure out how much to sell it for.

Awesome video Daniel. I love your honesty as well as your insight and information. You have helped me save a lot of money not investing or buying things a young collector would sometimes fall for. Especially things on eBay that are very tempting. Like so called uncirculated wheat penny rolls, fort Morgan dollars. Those two videos alone will save people a lot of money and heartbreak. I've seen a LCS owner tell someone all their deceased relatives coins were all junk and send them away crying, that was some time between 2015 and 2020 (They did not stay in business long).

It's junk but not really junk. Coins that trade are what I'm looking for and sometimes it looks like this, not every piece can be $50+.

My favorite coins to buy are cull because i collect on a an extreme budget
I wouldn't call it junk. More like "Not Popular" I guess you can buy low, take what you want out, and sell the rest in grab bags in your store or sets of stuff on Ebay for a profit? I guess it depends on how much time you want to spend to make that extra buck. Thanks for sharing, Daniel. 😀
Collecting coins would be a great hobby if you can find a dealer you can trust. But the more videos I watch the more leery I am to get involved in the hobby. Without the knowledge you can get run over the coals very easy. When you get human beings involved with money and very specialized knowledge necessary to evaluate items it can get very ugly.
The problem is, most people come into this stuff or when you're younger with no money any collect pennies, a $20 morgan common dates. Most people don't have all the featured coins in a Heritage catalog. Most "stuff" people get when they're new to collecting. At some shows you see dealers that specialize in certain types of coins. I've seen them one sells foriegn coins but most have a box full of worn out coins off to the side and people buy that stuff to fill out an alblum. A couple dealers would have almost every coin there is in some grade. All that junk silver and gold dealers should sell it to be melted and made into bars or rounds, that would solve the problem.
My LCS, sells that stuff real cheap, The commemorative silver and the modern silver quarters go for two dollars over spot
I personally believe that Silver Eagles are junk silver. IMHO.
Some of that stuff is very cool. I like collecting 2009 sets as well. I really like 2009 cents.
It seems like if you are a collector for some time you are destined to have in your collection a decent percentage of coins like you showed. It just happens.

These are the coins I call swill when they come in. They are what is left a lot of times after the good stuff has been picked over.
That 1916 set what is it lol I'm interested. I love those type of things. Just because they have like history and cool facts etc.

Yes, I actually been looking for the Columbian Exposition Half Dollar one I 👀saw it amongst the loose coins.
I love both of those Columbian Exposition half dollar coins, both the 1892 and the 1893. They mark the beginning of the vintage commemorative half dollars that I love to collect so much. They also mark the first time the US put a real person on a coin.

That's the problem with selling to dealers they only want to cherry pick your collection to make the most profit for them
I buy it all, you're taking the video wrong. I even mention this in the video but you didn't watch it all or pay attention.
If all this stuff is a pain for you to deal with, why bother? Just concentrate on the high end stuff. Or if not enough "good" stuff comes in or there are not enough buyers for it and you need this stuff to fill the shelves and interest the browsers and newbies, then you have your answer. My answer would be - not junk and yes I would buy it. I like the variety.

Seems easy if you are complaining that you won't make much money then only buy those items that you will make money. If you only want rare coins then just only buy rare coins. If you are only looking for things you can list in auction again just buy those. I would buy everything there and discount the stuff that does not sell. I take that stuff to shows and mark it down. Commercial packaged crap I buy cheap and make them give away promos. Obviously you bought it all:)

COA’s are important, are they not? Many of the proof coins,without complete packaging, were also missing COA’s.
I can make the COAs so they're meaningless.

Greysheet is holding the market down, it's like a short seller in stocks.
Greysheet us based on what it has sold for lately so this isn't true. PCGS and NGC have enough trouble updating their values and PCGS over-inflating their values.

Been watching your videos for years & I understand your point. I get it. But I was disappointed by your comments at 14 minutes & .52 seconds. MS65 coins in Morgan Dollars for less than gray sheet. It's not junk but apparently you've lost interest in being a coin dealer. Now I get if you can get them wholesale from other dealers, but I won't sell to you. The markets soft , ok I get it, but putting MS65 Morgans from NGC & PCGS in with this other "Junk" is harsh, I think. I'm sure you're right, but your tone is kind of a downer. You've been good over the years though my friend & I'll keep watching. I was just caught off guard .
You completely misunderstood this video, I never called everything in this video junk, I was showing the stuff I've purchased and wanted to show some nice coins in holders as well. However, I can buy MS65 Morgans for less than Greysheet at coins shows. I will buy them for Greysheet or a tad more if they're all white. I am pretty sure I explained all of this, but it seems you where too busy getting worked up over being took off guard, based on a comment, and didn't finish listening? Sad really. I literally say I love being a coin dealer. I am trying to share, it's too bad people take it wrong. I could have just don't a video on mint errors or fake errors in stead.
I don't know if it's just me but if you sell a coin online and it's not the picture of the coin online then you're scamming people😅 then again the metric of technology has changed especially in business
It’s not a scam if you tell people it’s a stock photo and send them a coin that is near exact. It’s intent that defines a scam or not.

I agree with you@@MoDzAudio . I really like Daniels videos & I've learned so much from him, but this one had a total different attitude to it. I mentioned it to him & he bit my head off. He just caught me off guard, mostly because I trust him, but when he made the comment that these MS65 OGH Morgans he can buy everyday for under wholesale that knocked me off my chair! MSD's are the bedrock of the majority of collectors & he just said he won't give Graysheet (wholesale) pricing no matter how nice the coin is in the more common grades. I'm very disappointed in his response to me but he's been so good to the hobby (us), that I'll let it pass.
This is ridiculous, @MoDzAudio complains about my video being a complainer video (which it wasn't). I literally love buying coins like this and being a coin dealer, he didn't watch until the end to hear that. So he's wrong.
