Damn, I was a jet engine mechanic on F4Es at MacDill AFB in the middle 70s. We were the 1st Fighter Wing but were changed to the 56th Wing when the F15 wing finally formed. I had forgotten about the leading edge slats since they were a pretty big deal at first. I have a small scar on my head from the knife edge seal that jumped out to attack me. Totally unprovoked. So many memories.
@@Boots3862 I worked at the sound suppressor, a water cooled muffler system for noise suppression, those tags were removed before the engines were fired up.
My old man was a USMC Phantom Phixer on F-4Bs with VMFA-115, the "Silver Eagles", based at Chu Lai in Nam from 1966-67 and I have dreamed of a full fidelity sim of this old beast since he told me about "his" pilot Smokey taking him up for a farewell flight before he rotated back to The World and him telling me that breaking mach in the Phantom was the single baddest ass experience of his life. I literally burnt out our Beta Max tape of Top Gun as a kid so I was jacked for the DCS F-14 but I am even more hyped for the F-4, USAF puke E-model or not lol And btw, this is a helluva long shot but the DCS community contains a lot of longtime aviation community/military vets and since my pops kicked it when I was just about to turn 11 I never knew Smokey's actual name but if any of you guys are aware of a USMC pilot with the call sign "Smokey" that served with VMFA-115 in the Nam gimme a reply. Anyways, can't wait for this bird and will be in the air on Day One!!!
This just slapped my face with a core memory: My father was a crew chief on RF-4C's. I used to go with him to air shows and the Reno Air Races, and this is so damn spot on. The photo pass made me well up. It's been decades since I've seen a flying F-4 that wasn't going to be used as a missile target.

One things that amazed me when I was younger was just how loud the F-4 is. When they switched from F-4 Phantoms to the new fangled F-16s, it got so much quieter at my house, being so close the an Air Force base. The difference was huge.
I literally double-checked the VIAF setlist thrice and since there was no Phabulous Phantom display announced, I didn't care this time, simply because I got other things on the plate (like a ton of cake... ^^) and watching the whole event would have been everything + 2 days. And then this happened... just awesome!
I'm glad the smokey engines were a part of this. A very memorable part of growing up in VA Beach was seeing them flying overhead and at air shows and that always present smoke. Oh yea, the engine sounds are awesome. You always knew when a Phantom was operating nearby at Oceana.
That's nothing short of pure amazingness! The sound at the beginning rattled my brain out using a pair of good headphones, brought back memories from airshows when I was a kid and saw the Viggen! Lovely! Can't wait for the module to finally drop, and my LP's!

What a unique way to experience history, especially in a time where people seem to want to just forget what it all meant to put the nation’s best minds to a task, historical involvement with other nations, arms dealing where and why, and why the approaches in engineering were taken. Especially excited for the Intruder and whenever possible, the Eurofighter. KEEP IT UP!
I know, the only thing I can think of for their next module most likely being the A-6E is a briefing room you can enter before flight and maybe ground crew working around the plane when you remove chocks and connect/disconnect gpu

Thank you Heatblur for making a small dream come true, by making this module for DCS! And yes mine is pre-ordered... the day it was released for pre-order... lol

As a child of the 1970's I approve. In the 1970's it was smoking or none smoking everywhere, and your parents would smoke like a chimney in the car with the windows rolled up. We had Joe Camel and the Marlboro man and our race car drivers drove for the Winston Cup. So it is fitting the F-4 smokes like a chimney as well.
Looking really good so far. I worked the radar for 11 years on the F-4E/G, and just two minor nitpicky things from this video: the power unit, called a 'dash 60' were all olive green at every base I was assigned or visited, and the crew chief in this video looks Navy

Awesome vid I can't hardly hide my excitement, well done Heatblur Bring It On !!! Awesome
That was absolutely OUTSTANDING!
An absolutely amazing video. I hope it was as much fun to creat it as it was to watch it :)
oh man the sounds of it taxiing at the end there are glorious
Is that the Meteor album we hear in the background? This was incredible, can't wait to fly it myself.
Yes. Glad you liked it!
I always wanted to fly the F4 when I was a kid. We had F4's at the Air National Guard unit where I grew up, but it was taken out of service before I went on active duty. Thank you Heatblur for making a small dream come true, by making this module for DCS!
And yes mine is pre-ordered... the day it was released for pre-order... lol
This is getting me a little too excited Such an amazing bird! Can't wait to sit in this cockpit! My tomcat is gonna be super jealous. Already preordered!
This was such a surprise watching VIAF live! Phenomenal demonstration!!! Can't wait for the plane and the album to release! (Already pre-ordered 😎)
Wow. Way to go HB!!!!! Raising the bar higher than ever
Hope the pilot movement technology will pass to all the other modules and i'am really impressed by the manoeuvrability of this jet !
Was a crew chief on these magnificent beasts in the 80s in the 68th TFS at Moody. You never forget your first true love.
I just love how this is the idea of "given enough horsepower, even a brick could fly" personified :)
HB are smashing it !
My Dad was a Crew Chief on RF-4C 68-0567 when she was brand new in '68.
Outstanding video 👍 And as Thesimnet says: "Once the bird was in the air, you could not distinguish the video from reality" I could not wait to have my F-4E in my virtual hangar.
This bird is still in action here in Greece , i work with this horse every day..door 22 knows me well...i tell you this thing Heatblur did is a work of art
Nice ! Greetings from the Fulcrums up north! Pity only your F-16 are visiting BAF , would love to sii that gal live
Great job as always. Already purchased, keep up the wonderful work!
0:52 aww look how excited she is
She looks fantastic in the air & on the ground.
Pilots actually did smoke in the F-4, too. It even used to have an ashtray lol. 🙂
Phantom Phrenzy is upon us! 🔥🤘🏻😤🤘🏻🔥
Another great work. I'm very fascinated with this plane. Congratulations for your hard work. It's a masterpiece. Keep it up Heatblur team. 💪💪👏👏👏
Wow! Fantastic display thanks. The hype is real!
Looking forward to jumping in and having a blast
Incredible video, can't wait to take this bird to the skies myself! What a great thing to wake up to!
incredibly well made video, hope to see an airshow for Eurofighter when thats close to release :)
Looking really good so far. I worked the radar for 11 years on the F-4E/G, and just two minor nitpicky things from this video: the power unit, called a 'dash 60' were all olive green at every base I was assigned or visited, and the crew chief in this video looks Navy
Give that man a different uniform
Absolutely Crushed it! 🤙🏻
omg u are everywhere on instagram and yt:)))))
Having seen a few airshows in my day, this video really nailed it. Bravo Zulu Heatblur. Can't wait till I get to take mine out of the damn hangar. :)
man, what a beautiful love letter to aviation this is shaping up to be
The new Meteor track is great as well 🙌 I can't wait
This is a game changer, once again showcasing why HB are the best of the best
I’ll be honest, it’s just another plane. It won’t really be a game changer.
@@RW-zn8vyit is a plane that changes many things on how the plane works, behave and is made and probably other develppers will replicate the process, so we'll end up having greater quality modules i hope
Even the crowd were stunned rigid I see... I need to have this in my grubby mitts asap 😂... Great video by the way
