I agree with Fiona that it's unfair that she should lose so much for what seems like a brief lapse in attention, but I also agree with Lip that as the legal guardian it's her responsibility to ensure that the kids don't come to harm and unfortunately the harm that befell Liam was the result of a series of poor decisions on her part. As a parent your wellbeing is and always should be secondary to your child's.
She threw a house party with a bunch of people she didn’t know well. Her underage siblings were in the house that led to a three year old OD in on cocaine. That’s not a minor lapse in judgement or simple mistake That’s a severe lack of judgement in general
It's not unfair at all. Her actions caused Liam to overdose on cocain. It's entirely her fault considering it was her cocain, she left it where Liam could access it, and oh yeah, she had COCAIN.
how was it unfair for fiona?? what about liam, the literal baby in the situation who almost died thanks to his big sister who fought for guardianship for her siblings just for her to pull an ultimate frank/monica move. i’m confused
It's not unfair she 100% deserves to lose everything because she constantly makes bad decisions. How about not screwing your boyfriends brother, how about throwing out the drugs he left in your house, how about not doing drugs in a room full of kids in the first place.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lip was one of the biggest victims of his childhood. Whenever Fiona fucked up, he had to take over and he did a damn good job. He was put under so much pressure at school, then Fiona fucking up, and later when he has to go through his alcohol recovery. Seriously the best character
lip was fully in the right. sure, yeah, fiona fucked up but its her fault that liam got into the coke. i cant believe she tried to make herself the victim in this scene..
The acting in this scene is amazing! Lip finally snapping and going off on Fiona, and her look of shock and a bit of fear because for a second she didn’t even recognize her own brother. That look of fear was absolutely perfect, she gave that look you give when someone does something out of character and it scares the shit out of you. Lip usually is the one who remains calm,so for him to completely snap like that shows how badly Fiona messed up
I like that they fight, and then Frank happens and they end up on the same page running the house together again. Only watched a season or so of this show, but there's some great acting/writing.
I really believe lip was right in this regard to put her in her place and it's Fiona's fault because she chooses these good guys and then guys wear trash bags and it just doesn't make sense
Early to mid shameless had so mamy powerful scenes like this. Shameless was a juggernaught of a show that got HUGE after it was over lol so many people discovred this with streaming... i was there weekely every sunday , every season.
Lip was 1000% in the right here. Fiona was definitely guilty, no way around it. However, the only thing I didn’t like was when he said “It’s always about you.” That just wasn’t fair, it’s literally never about Fiona. It’s always about someone else.
I loved this scene because you really feel for both of them-especially watching the seasons leading up to this. (Yes I know it was Fiona’s actual fault) but she went through it like many of us do. Both of them made sense on a level. Too real of a conversation
It’s very sad but Lip was right Fiona signed up for this, she is his legal guardian and by agreeing to that she agreed to not do stupid things like dating drug addicts Lip saw Liam fighting for his life in that hospital bed, he has every right to yell at her
This is why I think Lip held it down more than Fiona. Fiona just had to be the caretaker & guardian which she willingly signed up for. Lip would have to step up every time somebody else fucked up & not only take care and provide for the kids but actively fix whatever Fiona fucked up. I always think about the episode where they have to pay property tax and Fiona uses that money for her club night and lost it all. A high school Lip stepped up and sold fake parking or concert tickets & got the bread! His fuck ups never land on anyone else but him. Whenever Fiona or Debbie fucked up it landed on everyone else.
the whole point of going to trial is that the jury's going to decide whether you're guilty or not, not you. if the case already looks bad from the jump, none of the jury are going to sympathise with you.
being a parent is hard and even if you been doing since you were young it’s very hard and unfair and you never get time to yourself but that’s reason not the excuse. And then what makes it even worse is you’re also doing drugs with a house full of kids and you picked a bad man to be with. like she lost all the “my life is unfair” argument the moment drugs were involved
Lip wasn’t just speaking in defense of his little brother, he was speaking facts. There is no argument Fiona could have made to save herself in the situation, the courts don’t care if it was an accident or not. At the end of the day she was the one who had the drugs in her possession that was accessible to multiple children in the house.
“You’re his guardian, you signed up for this” tbh Fiona should’ve left and focused on herself, LIP went and flipped the gun on her judged her every move when she did not choose this life, she chose her siblings which she done a great job at raising
I love how lip gets mad at Fiona for almost killing Liam. Poor little liam, it wasn't Frank's fault, or lips fault or carls fault but fiona and her drugged up boyfriend and i felt that.
"I'm finally making it about me", that's such a disgusting card to pull on Lip in this argument. As if there's absolutely no other ways to do it except at the cost of her brother's life. People don't call out Fiona for her bullshit enough. Just because you take care of your siblings doesn't mean you can act like your addicted parents and put them in danger... I think that was the exact moment when Fiona and Lip's relationship got permanently damaged. I don't think he ever forgave her completely, and maybe that's why he didn't give her any chances later and kicked her out of the house when her drinking became worse and he got sober. Fiona insisting on going to trial knowing well that chances are low also shows how little she cared at that moment about the consequences of her going to prison, which is Lip going through the exact same struggles as she did - sacrificing his chances for education (which he did anyways however lol) and for the life of his own since he'd be the oldest. "It's your fucked up life, not mine!" - Lip is absolutely right, it's not fair to place him in Fiona's position in this family just because she, a grow ass adult, decides to party with drugs.
Exactly! She saved them from their justified fears of what could happen around Frank and his addictions. Then, she did something just as life-threatening to her toddler brother as what Frank could have done.
For some reason you don't give credit to audience enough. It's likely people do complain about this character... but come one is focused on entire dysfunctional family with some subplots centered on the supporting characters. Not like anyone focuses on their shamelessness when Ian's fling is the main highlight.
It’s not his life cause Fiona protected him from it, and as his sister she didn’t have to. She could’ve done for herself. That would’ve been a line for Monica and Frank. They have misdirected anger at Fiona cause they expect so much of her, that they should’ve expected from their parents. Not her
Nah nah Fiona is right. It’s never about her. And now that her life is actually on the line , she HAS to make it about her. She has every right to. The deed is already done, there’s nothing she could do for Liam at the moment, Liam already got hurt but he healed and he’s just as clever as the other Gallaghers in the later seasons. Fiona did a shitty thing but she doesn’t deserve to lose everything because of it. Especially since the other Gallaghers have done bad things too if not worse. Lip has gotten away with every crime he has done and never faced major consequences. Only Fiona and Ian have. Fiona is not Frank or Monica, she is far from perfect but she’s the only reason her siblings are alive. How do you think they learned to survive ? Fiona.
@@jamilahparker7176 she could've done for herself, but she didn't. She made her choice to be in charge, but it doesn't mean we cannot say shit about her wrongs. And in this situation the anger is absolutely NOT misdirected, she left the cocaine out and she's the one to blame🤷♀
This is the season I stopped liking Fiona. She went from a young girl who was trying to do the best she could with the hand thar life dealt her, into someone who brings all their problems on themselves, then refuse to take responsibility for their actions, and cries victim and says woe is me.
Lip was in the right here no way people are still trying to side with Fiona she left the coke out regardless it’s her fault whether it was an accident or not 😂
I still people siding with her, man look Fiona is one of my favorite characters but she absolutely needed this reality check she was spiraling out of control
I think Lip made a lot of good points but the one thing he said that he def had no right to say “that makes me 25 taking care of the kids” like you have no right to say that to Fiona of all people
How Debbie turned out? Fiona’s fault because she didn’t get Debbie therapy for her abdoment issues. How Carl ended in jail? Fiona’s fault because AGAIN she didn’t get him therapy. She let liem get into the coke then has the gall to say she’s not guilty. She can’t take what she dishes it out. Debbie got her bad behaviour from her mom AND Fiona because the person who fucked Debbie up was FIONA because no one raised Debbie besides Fiona She charges Mionors rent after the judge told her SHE was responsible for them till they were 18. You can’t agree to take responsibility for someone then choose when you want to be responsible for them. She only takes credit for the kids positive things then turns around and won’t take responsibility for where she might’ve made a mistake somewhere else. The way she treated Ian when he was manic was TERRIBLE and definitely made him worse. Consistently comparing him to his mother she definitely had a part in Monica trying to off herself by not leaving her alone when she wanted to be left alone. ( I did notice she didn’t make that mistake when Ian was manic and didn’t drag him out of bed and force him to do something.) but she was raised by frank and Monica so how can we expect her to do any better then them?
True. She tries to charge her younger siblings money by making them pay rent. Debbie and Carl were in high school until Debbie has to drop out because of Fiona. If she didn't charge them rent while being in school, Debbie wouldn't get into a fight with the homeless lady, CPS wouldn't come after her, Derek's family wouldn't take Franny away from her. Fiona was supposed to look after them but she didn't. Charging her younger siblings with rent is a way for Fiona to cope after Sean left her in the wedding.
I feel like Lip was harsh, but Fiona needed that as an extra push and a reality check. Lip was always fatherly and loved everyone just as much. I dk I think he probably felt like he was the man of the house being the second oldest but some people are just built like that too
I get that it is Fiona’s fault but I also don’t like the fact that Lip only gets a taste of what she’s been dealing with her whole life. Her whole life she was a parent for her siblings even though the entire time she was a child. And Lip acts all high and mighty bc he has to take care of them for a fraction of that while most of them are old enough to take care of themselves too. And then the whole *okay so that leaves me 25 still taking care of the kids* … MEANWHILE Fiona’s been doing it and will continue to do so…. You have to acknowledge she didn’t have any part in having these kids, conception or adoption she was just saddled with 5 children of varying ages that would keep her occupied until she was 25 so …. Idk
Lol like I think Lip was more afraid of her downward spiral affecting everyone, what’s the saying it’s easier to burn a bridge than build it, Frank may have screwed up hard, but leaving drugs out in the open for a baby to grab is like leaving a gun out and the kid grabs it, yeah no one thinks he’s gonna take it and pop someone, but someone has to take the blame when it does. That’s Fiona also seeing as how she could have offed one of her sibling or turned him tarded which Frank too my knowledge didn’t even do.
Sorry but Fiona NEVER takes any accountability for her mistakes. This was just one of them. I'm 100% with Lip. Harsh but no amount of polite reasoning will ever make her understand just how much she screwed up.
You think just because she gave up her life that it’s fair to force that on everyone else? This is a completely avoidable situation where she’d be purposely ripping Lip from his life for years, it doesn’t even matter what she’s done
Way to make excuses for a character that can't do anything right. She's literally a female Frank Gallagher. Oh boo hoo she didn't know how to be a "parent." No she's a narcissist.
Fiona: What I wouldn't give for something to interrupt this emotionally devastating moment. Carl: Frank's passed out in the bathroom Fiona: that will do nicely.
He’s not wrong she needed to take responsibility, but ultimately, this is a tragedy neither of them deserved. They’re both trapped in a responsibility neither should have under the weight of years of untreated trauma. Just a shitty situation all around.
I never really watched this show only clips over the years, but i thought william H macy was also a main character of the show and like their dad. Seems hes barley every in any clips of this show lol
2:54 Lip literally made it all about himself in every season especially season 11. It’s funny because he got himself kicked out of college and Fiona had nothing to do with that. All him. All that hatred towards his sister for nothing. SHE did better than him.
See, I’m the number 1 hater of Lip and even I was agreeing with him for calling out Fiona here. He was right. Just because you say it’s an accident doesn’t relieve you of the consequences of your actions.
She feels that just because she’s done all the work they should look past her horrendous misdeed and give her a free pass? She clearly can’t grasp the fact her little brother nearly died because of her…..
She didn’t say that at all. YOU assumed incorrectly. She knows what she did was wrong but her life doesn’t deserve to be destroyed for it. Especially when Frank and Lip have done so many crimes that they keep getting away with.
@@jg2722her life shouldn’t have been destroyed over almost killing her baby brother???? liam’s life was almost LOST all because of her actions. lets not make the grown woman the victim against a child who didn’t know better
I can't believe this is a debate. She almost killed her brother. Period. So what if she had it rough, or it was an accident? Her accident almost killed her brother and she doesn't seem to realize this, funny how the time she chooses to "think of herself" is after something like this. At the end day her fans don't care because "hey he survived didn't he?." It's really disturbing how much people can justify when they like/are attracted to someone. I know that many people adore this show but how are y’all taking up for Fiona in any regard? If there was a news article of this exact same thing happening to a real family, you’d be singing a completely different tune. Fiona deserved time and the state should have taken Liam away for good.
Because Fiona was the only thing ever keeping the family together, and we see that in the show versus random articles with no detail. Without her they would've been on the street long ago, in abusive foster homes with even worse outcomes (they detail their previous foster home experiences in other episodes). This show is literally called shameless, where every character has both their good and bad side. Everyone here would've been cast aside by society.

She was a child too. She's been raising her siblings since she was 9. She's got a right to be messed up
@@priscillawagner6205Everyone always says this and I agree but she was wrong in this situation this was all her fault she almost killed liam😭
@@priscillawagner6205 that literally has nothing to do with anything lmfao. just because she raised all her siblings since she was nine, she gets a free pass even when her other siblings lives are at risk? you people are actually brainless lol
@@priscillawagner6205i don't care what childhood she did or didn't have. You don't have cocain parties in a house with a child, and then leave the cocain in a child accesable place for them to snort.
This show is supposed to resemble real life and if this was actually real life, people would want her to get the chair.
@@priscillawagner6205That’s stupid. No body has the right to mess up. And guess what if you do? You deal with the consequences. No body cares what happened in the past what matters is what you do here and now. I could have a tragic past that won’t excuse me if I end up murdering 3 people or doing drugs. I still deal with the consequences. That’s life.
Got some mad respect for Lip this season!
It’s a shame he fucked it all up in the later seasons.
That’s not a minor lapse in judgement or simple mistake
That’s a severe lack of judgement in general
@@indifference1015 thank you!
Sammi also wasn't helping the situation at this time either
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lip was one of the biggest victims of his childhood. Whenever Fiona fucked up, he had to take over and he did a damn good job. He was put under so much pressure at school, then Fiona fucking up, and later when he has to go through his alcohol recovery. Seriously the best character
Don’t know what Fiona was thinking Leaving the coke out like that.
i guess you havent watched the show. every single one of them has done shit like that.
@@huh-o9r I know, which is why I have seen the show.
And living how did.

I know, right? Carl was so unhinged, but that’s what makes him such an interesting character! 😂
lip was fully in the right. sure, yeah, fiona fucked up but its her fault that liam got into the coke. i cant believe she tried to make herself the victim in this scene..
Lip usually is the one who remains calm,so for him to completely snap like that shows how badly Fiona messed up
IM SORRY BUT CARL IN THE BEGINNING HAS ME 💀💀🤣🤣🫁🫁
Him kissing Liam on the cheek and then softly whispering "Are you retarded now" is SENDING ME 😭😭💀
The origin story of Carmen Berzatto
I like that they fight, and then Frank happens and they end up on the same page running the house together again. Only watched a season or so of this show, but there's some great acting/writing.
I really believe lip was right in this regard to put her in her place and it's Fiona's fault because she chooses these good guys and then guys wear trash bags and it just doesn't make sense
I really love lip he has a great heart and speaks facts
Early to mid shameless had so mamy powerful scenes like this. Shameless was a juggernaught of a show that got HUGE after it was over lol so many people discovred this with streaming... i was there weekely every sunday , every season.
Lip was 1000% in the right here. Fiona was definitely guilty, no way around it. However, the only thing I didn’t like was when he said “It’s always about you.” That just wasn’t fair, it’s literally never about Fiona. It’s always about someone else.
😊😊😊 The baby was really asleep ❤❤
I love that the first tag on the video is Ian's name and he's not even in this clip
Lip had every right to upset cause she fucked up badly
this season is so sad 😢
(Get the fuck out of my house)he right
I loved this scene because you really feel for both of them-especially watching the seasons leading up to this.
(Yes I know it was Fiona’s actual fault) but she went through it like many of us do. Both of them made sense on a level. Too real of a conversation
The point wasn’t that she looked away for two seconds, it was that she had drugs that close to a toddler
It’s very sad but Lip was right
Fiona signed up for this, she is his legal guardian and by agreeing to that she agreed to not do stupid things like dating drug addicts
Lip saw Liam fighting for his life in that hospital bed, he has every right to yell at her
Lip is a right and a complete hypocrite at the same time😂
This is why I think Lip held it down more than Fiona.
God dammit, season 4 was peak Shameless.
Love this show this unfortunately is the reality for a lot of people sadly I can relate
being a parent is hard and even if you been doing since you were young it’s very hard and unfair and you never get time to yourself but that’s reason not the excuse. And then what makes it even worse is you’re also doing drugs with a house full of kids and you picked a bad man to be with. like she lost all the “my life is unfair” argument the moment drugs were involved
Wait I just realized lip became a Chief and now starts in a new Hulu show called the bear the actor play as a chief...
*Chef (sorry I'm that guy lol)
Lip wasn’t just speaking in defense of his little brother, he was speaking facts. There is no argument Fiona could have made to save herself in the situation, the courts don’t care if it was an accident or not. At the end of the day she was the one who had the drugs in her possession that was accessible to multiple children in the house.
I think Lip and Fiona are the most interesting characters in shameless. Since they are basically different sides of the same coin.
Lip is badass. He should have been taking care of these kids. They would have been on the straight and narrow
all this just for him to get expelled and basically do nothing with himself ... the irony
0:53 I got something to tell ya 😂
“You’re his guardian, you signed up for this” tbh Fiona should’ve left and focused on herself, LIP went and flipped the gun on her judged her every move when she did not choose this life, she chose her siblings which she done a great job at raising
“Get rid of any evidence” what like the heroine?
This scene broke me😊
This is the season I stopped liking Fiona. She went from a young girl who was trying to do the best she could with the hand thar life dealt her, into someone who brings all their problems on themselves, then refuse to take responsibility for their actions, and cries victim and says woe is me.
goddamnit, i fucking love lip.
Lip was in the right here no way people are still trying to side with Fiona she left the coke out regardless it’s her fault whether it was an accident or not 😂
I still people siding with her, man look Fiona is one of my favorite characters but she absolutely needed this reality check she was spiraling out of control
The whole family breaks the law every episode lol.

I think Lip made a lot of good points but the one thing he said that he def had no right to say “that makes me 25 taking care of the kids” like you have no right to say that to Fiona of all people
0:52 Fast forward to next season
“White boy Carl! White boy Carl!”
Lip hands down carried the show
I feel like Lip was harsh, but Fiona needed that as an extra push and a reality check. Lip was always fatherly and loved everyone just as much. I dk I think he probably felt like he was the man of the house being the second oldest but some people are just built like that too
The Fiona of season one would have never done what she did here.
“Dont end up there”
White boy carl: 😏
Veey deep show. Thats stems from a broken man frank and how one mans trauma becomes his gift to his children to solve
When Fiona set Carl to his room, what about the evidence??? 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Just because someone lives a fucked up life doesn't mean they shouldn't be accountable for almost killing a three year old.
Carl: Frank's passed out in the bathroom
Fiona: that will do nicely.
Her wet hair makes me so uncomfortable like i can feel it.
He’s not wrong she needed to take responsibility, but ultimately, this is a tragedy neither of them deserved. They’re both trapped in a responsibility neither should have under the weight of years of untreated trauma. Just a shitty situation all around.
Lip is right it's Fiona's god damn fault 😠

I can't believe this is a debate. She almost killed her brother. Period. So what if she had it rough, or it was an accident? Her accident almost killed her brother and she doesn't seem to realize this, funny how the time she chooses to "think of herself" is after something like this. At the end day her fans don't care because "hey he survived didn't he?." It's really disturbing how much people can justify when they like/are attracted to someone. Wonder what they would've said if he did die. Actually, it basically would've been the same thing people are saying now. Honestly, I'd stay away from people like this. They're the ones who send fan mail to serial killers, justify said killers' actions on social media and etc or they'd do the same thing. Once again I'm reminded some people are idiots. So disappointing.

@@darkriku12 Okay but my point is that none of that absolves her of Liam’s accident. The story behind it doesn’t matter, it’s the fact that a Kid overdosed on his sister’s coke in the presence of his family that’s the issue.
