Another awesome video. Never forget that these recordings are posted at Neville's expense of spending time and availability with family, friends and other interests. A legend in his own right. Thank you Neville, your work is greatly appreciated.
Thank you sooo much Nellive.....
Hear hear. I totally agree. A magnificent undertaking and achievement.
Totally agree, a record of something that has never happened before for future generations (and maybe help towards restorations of other Lancs)
Hear, hear!!
Cheers pepsiclauk.
It always impresses me so much to see these restored warplanes! Once there were hundreds of them, even thousands perhaps, but now just a few. It's "living history".
That was really something Neville. The sight and sound of four Merlins starting up and running beautifully.
A great post. Thank you. 🇦🇺
Cheers Ken.
Absolutely incredible efforts by all involved. Aircraft like these made Britain Great 🇬🇧
Cheers AW Services.
Nevill I have watched a number of your videos over the years and they obviously give pleasure to many of we viewers. I just loved the metal work skills of the men who take out each elderly component and remanufacture an identical item. I presume a high percentage of the airframe has been replaced by handmade replacement parts. I am looking forward to watching this aircraft fly once more
Some years ago, not long after the plan to return NX611 to flight was announced, I asked a good friend of mine who’s been involved in aircraft restoration for many years, what he thought the prospects of ever seeing it happen were like. His response was that it wouldn’t happen, so daunting and enormous was the task.
I saw him again and asked him what he thought now and in a tone of admiration he replied that he now believed that Just Jane will definitely fly again.
Well done to all of the team for achieving so much, to think that we might soon have two thirds of the world’s airworthy Lancasters in Lincolnshire is very exciting!
Cheers Peter.
I remember seeing the Battle of Britain Flight Lancaster flying with the Canadian Lancaster 6 years ago, along with Spits and Hurricane it was an incredible sight and sound.
Hi John it was a good sight.
Great to see the old girl out in the sunshine ☀️ and making that noise only a Lancaster can make, once again fantastic video Neville 👍👍
Cheers Mark.
It reminds of a family friend when I was a kid. He said Lancasters use to fly over his house fully laden with bombs and how slow the climb was. At the time I never asked where he lived. I just listened.
Cheers Phil.
Nos amis Anglais ont toujours su faire le meilleur. Leur courage , leur intelligence, la qualité de leurs fabrications, font de ce pays, une grande nation.
Cheers mate.
Your contribution to the project is greatly appreciated by many. Great to hear the Merlin's singing. The team is doing a great job on such an iconic aircraft.
Cheers Mike.
Merlins... my friend's father made it from france to Scotland on just one of the four in his Lancaster....practically treetop level coming in, but brought the crew home on one engine...the proverbial "wing and a prayer"!
Cheers mate.
Big thanks Neville, reminds me of my days with 611 at Squires Gate.
Cheers Gary.
What a wonderful sight and sound. And so much skilled work to get to this moment. Three cheers to all you guys.
Cheers Nicholas.
Just the absolute epitome of aviation beauty and a testament to bravery. Thank you so much guys 🫡 👌
Cheers mate.
even at idle, those 4 Merlins make a mighty sound...
Cheers mate.
Neville , that was another excellent video. To see NX611 rolling out of the hanger for another season absolutely brilliant .
Cheer Michael.
incredible amount of detail work for even a "simple" airframe component...
That's right lohikarhu734.
The Internet doesn't get much more awesome than this
Thanks Neville. So wonderful to see and hear those beautiful Merlin’s roaring away again. Gives me goosebumps. A busy season ahead there at the Centre. I cannot wait. Keep up the good work guys. Thanks to you as well Neville and good to see you back. Wishing you and everyone there at the Centre all the best and I look forward you your next update. 👍

Wonderful to hear 4 Merlins running nicely. Great job of fogging the mosquitoes by the fuel bowser too! Thanks for the video Neville, Cheers!
Cheers Jeff.
I hear a knock in number 5 piston engine number two, just kidding they sound amazing to me. Such skilled and people, all should be Knighted by The King.

Nice one, Neville. Fabulous channel.
Well done, Neville! Nice to hear her running up again this year, and see the progress on the fuselage.
Cheers Paul.
Lovely video
Thanks josh.
So pleased to see this. I was starting to think you was not well. I was there on the 7th for a visit and was wondering. Thank you for your time once again. Over 2 weeks today for the bike day.
Cheers Peter, all well at this end.
Thank you Neville for another fantastic episode, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up lol. :-)
Cheers nofider1.
Another great video update bro, those merlins sound sweet. Safe travels
Cheers KEN.
What an amazing sound! VE6KBI I should have to pop over to Nanton, Alberta, Canada to that sound again soon.
Nice museum Dan.
January 2149 newspaper headline: "Lincolnshire Aviation Museum roll out the first brand new Lancaster made since WW2"... How did you do it? asked the reporter. Well, we had all these formers and jigs just lying about & we used Neville Wheeldons video archive to guide us - simple really! ;)
That made me smile. thank you.
@@nevillewheeldon1693 I'm glad! All your hard work makes me smile too Neville. I, along with many others I'm sure, really appreciate the "above & beyond" attitude you have to documenting this important work. Thanks seems such a small word...
You can’t begin to imagine the racket from those four engines getting that plane, fully loaded, off the ground.
Cheers Gary.
Great video! We made a trip the other week to see her as well as the B-25 bomber they now have there. Even got the opportunity to have an exclusive photoshoot with her and our new JCBs a few months back. Well worth the visit. Great work!
Please post a Just Jane JCB photo if possible. Please!!
Cheers GCS.
Fantastic close ups of the the engine runs. Lucky people there to watch it all happen!
Cheers David.
🎉🎉🎊Congratulations on 9k subscribers Neville! 🎊🎊🎉 brilliant achievement!
Hi Dave , yes pleased with that ,also just passed the 3,000,000 view on all videos posted
Great video neville 👌
Cheers Matty.
Thank you for the update Neville, nice to see Jane almost back ready for taxiing. I could listen to the sound of those merlins all day
Great sound Gary.
I've watched a few of these video's now and it amazes me how thin the airframe is, all held together by rivets. That it flies at all and would have done for 10 hours at a time carrying tons of bombs is incredible. Those engines have to run full whack for hours at a time: jaw dropping engineering. I've seen the other Lancaster fly over our village Scredington at about 300 feet, it was an experience I'll never forget.
Cheers mate.
It's like music to your ears hearing them rollsroce merlin engines
Cheers Scott.
Love the sights and sounds of the Lancaster ! Seeing the ropes/straps being used to pull the fuel nozzle/hose up and over the leading edge of the wing brought back old memories of my flying days from 1967 to 1974 as a FE on our Units C-119C's, C-119G's and C-119L's. Our Unit flew to the UK in 1971 and 1972 to RAF Schulthorpe and RAF Greenham Common in our 119's. I had to use ropes with hooks to pull up 115/145 Avgas hoses, Engine oil hoses and ADI (water injection) hoses. If you look at some pictures of old C-119's the leading edge is beat up really bad from careless mechanics and aircrew who allowed the nozzle to hit the wing leading edge. Ah, Those surely were good old days !!! Great video Neville !
Thank you Walt.
Lovely to see Jane "alive" again. Thanks Neville. We will pop down again soon
Cheers James.
A lovely sight and sound, four Merlins. Thanks Neville, another great video.
Cheers DE.
Thank you Neville, great video. Lovely to hear those Merlins "The sound of freedom" 👍👍
Spot on peps.
As always , many thanks Neville . Where would we be without your total committment and hard work ? Thankyou
Cheers John.
Fantastic can’t wait for 4 years time. I’ve watched every episode so far and hope to visit some time later in the year.
Cheers Mike.
Excellent - thank you!
Cheers Abbydog.
Excellent video Neville, at least the sun was out!
Cheers charles.
Good stuff Neville
Cheers Stu.
there are only 2 Lancaster's in the world but think on 7,500 were made and give a thought to the young brave men that flu in them and most never came home to there loved one's we will remember them R.I.P to them all
We do all the time Philip.
Another cracking video Nev thankyou so much.Sadly i can,t get to E/K as often as i would like but having you their making these videos for us to watch makes sure we are not missing much. Thanks again and take care mate.
Cheers Mike.
Thank you Neville for another interesting video.
Cheers john.
Progress and what a great sound. Thanks for showing the full running.
Cheers John.
Amazing work Nev. well done and thanks
Cheers Paul.
Love that sound!
Great sound mate.
Thank you Neville, love seeing the engines fire up. Must get up to see her in person!!
Cheers Davide.
amazing video ,thank you as always, wonderful watch.
Cheers Neil.
What a wonderful sound! 😁👍
Cheers Steve.
Truly amazing craftsmanship!
Cheers Ken.
It’s interesting that all the engines rotate in the same direction. This must have a monumental torque effect on the aircraft which will try to rotate it on take off. Must be quite tricky for the pilots to control that.
Not sure on that one PTTC.
great video
Cheers Roger.
Good job!
Cheers wattage2007.
Fantastic Neville, well done Team!
Thank you Neville, Great video as always. Take care, Thanks from Hugh in California (Ex RAF Armourer!)
Cheers Hugh.
Perfect Merlin rauring engines for such nice Saturday.
Cheers Patrik.
Thanks, Nev.
Cheers Malcolm.
Wonderful!
Cheers mate.
Another excellent video update Nev! Thank you so much for doing these!
Cheers Peter.
Belo avião e a história dele é um legado
Cheers Oscar.
Another great video Nev! I hope to visit EK one day & see NX611 & HJ711 in the flesh. Only seen them in magazines & videos
Cheers Rich.
Again, a great video. I can't help wondering though. Where on earth did they find the tires for a Lancaster? They look brand new. I should say tyres I suppose..
It's a question I pondered on, too.
Dunlop still produce batches of tyres for BBMF, CWHM & LAHC.
Bloody lovely!
Cheers Larry
FUNDING IDEA: I visited HMS Victory in Portsmouth in the 1980s. At that time they were replacing rotten timber with new oak. You could buy yourself a piece of HMS Victory in a small clear-plastic box, with a certificate of authenticity. I recommend something similar should be done with pieces of old warbirds. Buy a hundred see-through boxes. Photocopy some certificates. Put pieces of old aircraft in the boxes Sell them as souvenirs.
Howsabout the Rivets Appeal, meant to put her back in the air 98/9?
Excellent update Neville thank you. Will any original formers be retained or all replaced?
It looks like 90% will be replaced, but this can change Kevin as the inspection goes on.
Simply magnificent. She is gorgeous! FOUR merlins.....such a lovely symphony of sound.
Cheers mate.
Nice Terrorbomber! Really good work.
Hi Nev, thanks again for another fascinating episode. Could you please ask Dave if all the fuselage formers will be replaced. Best wishes
Hi Jeff, about 90%.
@@nevillewheeldon1693 thanks Nev
If anybody is wondering about the business with the stake in the ground, 05:41 while fuel is moving through the hose it generates static electricity. To prevent things going with a "bang," the aircraft is connected with a "Ground" cable to the pump, and the pump is connected to the Earth with that Spike into the ground. This should prevent a spark at the the nozzle, as where they are connected, there is no "Gap" for the spark to jump, and with the pump staked into the ground, the charge will dissipate to earth, again without a gap to "Jump," causing a spark.
Thanks for your comment coniow.
@@nevillewheeldon1693 Thank YOU for posting these updates: Not only are they informative, but they also recognise the "UnSung Heroes" of the restoration world: The volunteers who put so many hours work to keep these machines in the air.
Thought the Rivets Appeal back in 98/9 was supposed to put her back in the air, until the powers that be shifted the goalposts, again.
It seems every time the dedicated strivers at East Kirkby bring her up to the 'new requirements', said requirers issue new standards to be met.
This wouldn't have owt to do with the BBMF Lanc being located those short miles away, would it ¿?
God bless browband your work i want in
Neville, what’s the expected cost for the restoration of NX611 to airworthy condition? An aircraft this old and in need of so much work must have cost quite a pretty penny to restore, and there’s 4 more years to go!
Hi FW around £4 million.
@@nevillewheeldon1693 thanks Neville! Hope you’re doing well. Love the continuing videos. Best wishes from Fort Worth.
Its ready let her fly
In about 5 years mate.
Why do I get emotional when I see this beautiful Living aeroplane emerging, gleaming, from the hanger?
Great footage, Neville!
Cheers Peter.
Does the heritage centre try to keep the tanks as empty of fuel as possible for fire/safety purposes?
Also read somewhere that leaving a comment helps RUclips channels by registering in RUclips’s algorithm…is this correct Neville? Keep up the good work 👍🇺🇦👍.
If they follow RAF hangar practices, they’ll keep the tanks full as this is safer. Less air gap in the tank equals less dangerous vapour.
@@TheBoss0405 Thanks for the info..dare say it makes sense. Any info on other question?
Hi Rod, not sure on that question about leaving a comment. At this moment in time there are only 2 tanks with fuel in on NX611.
just noticed that all the engines turn anti clockwise (from
the front)...does that have a larger effect with yaw
as opposed to two turning clockwise on one wing and two
anti c on the other wing
just looked at bbmf lanc start up
and port wing is clock and stbd is anti.
@@frasermetcalfe7032 all Merlin engines rotate the same way (prop spins clockwise when viewed from behind apart from one specific mark which was fitted to the DH Hornet). BBMF’s Lancaster engines all rotate the same way (clockwise from behind). The torque effect is significant but easily countered with the rudders being in the direct slip stream of the inboard engines.
@@BradleyWinder96 ah ok thanks for info...i have rechecked bbmf of course you are correct.
Could you tell me please was this one the lanc that stood on Blackpool airport for years before disappearing in the late 70s
Yes it's the same one.
I got in it with my ex rear gunner dad about 70/71 when i was at squires gate.
I wished I'd paid more attention to him as he climbed aboard a plane he'd always love.
Pity the rear turret wasn't the same as his.
So EXCITING ! Thank you for the run-up intro. And the appearance with increasing frequency of "airworthy" evokes that feeling in children with the anticipation of Santa Claus' visit.
Cheers HH.
How long can the engines run without take off before they overheat or seize ?
Hours and hours. The cooling system is very efficient.
Have all the formers got to be replaced?
90% at this moment Tez.
👍
😏
I really want to get out to these engine runs. I'm an amateur audio recordist and I want to get some Lanc recordings.
Do they have tannoys durung engine runs like at airshows?
Hiw can I find the engine run schedule?
Hi Big Pickle, no tannoys in the engine run. The schedule go to Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, click on-Plan your visit, click on Opening times and prices, click on-Aircraft taxiing click on View dates. You will enjoy the day.
Thanks Neville,Those Merlins gave me an Eargasm.....
Would have the former could have been drawn and cut on laser cutter and formed afterwards with holes pre cut.
Perspex bubble on nose, we had one in our back garden in the 60's. Never knew what is was off, i suspect now a Mossie.. My Dad dumped it in a canal!
I would sit inside like a tent.
Cost and time comes into it, flybobbie1449
why has he got a flying cap on ???
It’s quite noisy without one.
