Sorry for the late response, might be too late but the "auto cue" feature in the utility menu (Hold down the menu button at the top of the screen) is what you might be looking for. You can set the sensitivity of the autocue so if you have a long intro with little or no noise, it will cue to the first instance that the music is above anywhere from -79db to -36db depending on which setting you choose. If all else fails, find that point in the song you want to go in on and set a cue there!
good video - but i find it hard to understand how is the difference between long pressing and then loading ALL Hotcues of current track - and then alternatively loading only ONE?
Unfortunately that is one disadvantage to the hardware of the CDJ line. Having lots of hot cues means needing a lot of onboard memory for a buffer for each point. It's for this reason that you see controllers that run off of computers with more hot cue points. All depends on your performance style for what works best for you.
Hello! I loved the video, but I have a question for you .. I prepare my cue points from the computer on every song and then move all the songs on a USB key. But when I play a song from cdj2000, cue points are red and not yellow. I can't recall, and I don't know how to do.. Please help me ): Thanks
Hi. Can you do a tutorial on where to place cue points? I am utterly confused as to where to place them. must it only be placed on the beat of a kick drum?
Hey there, is it possible on the 2000s to play a track then whilst it is playing load the 3 cues pre saved for that poticular track into the a b c buttons, without stopping playback of the track ?
so I can use only the first three hot cues I set in rekordbox on CDjs? is there a way to see the comments I saved on each hot cues in rekordbox on CDjs? Thanks for your help in advance!!
can i use my hot cue points as a regular cue ? for example load my tracks kip to hot cue point C (you know how we before the mix hit the cue button a few times ? and then hit the play button thats what i want to do from my HOT cue point C) :) hope you get the question :)
lets say im using the sl3 at home and have my hot cues set in serato. if i load those tracks onto a thumb drive and use it on someone elses cdj 2000s will my cues be saved?
As a Traktor user I'm used to having having 8 hotcues. How would I compensate for that loss? I know there are multiple points (up to ten I believe) but without a way to trigger them they are not nearly as useful.
Is it that when the quantize button is enable and the hot cue is being pressed the hot cue automatically sets itself to the beat nearest the possition at which it was pressed just like on the cdj 2000 nexus? Will everything stay in time?
question: When I set up my 3 hot cues on rekord box and then load up the track on the cdj do i have to call the cues every time i switch to a new song?
That's only for hot cues. Hot cues need to be called before they can be used. You call them by holding down the (Rec/Call) button then pressing the respective hot cues you want to call. Regular Cue points are only one at a time. You can scroll through by pressing the left and right cue call buttons above the jog wheel adjustment knob.
Thank you for these tutorials! I can't afford the cost of such a DJ set up on my own, but so often this is the set up in many clubs and clearly you need to be prepared. I will definitely get familiarized with Recordbox but do you have any suggestions for a used CDJ or something that will allow me to get better prepared without having the actual gear? My budget would be about $500-700.
***** memory button next to the < and > call buttons. Also next to delete. All those memory browsing functions are on the upper right section of the jog section of the deck.
why can't i delete my hot cues on my nexus 2000 i just can't seem to delete a b and c in green i know such simple things but until you know how right no the hard bit obviously lol but the nexus cdjs are a little bit new tumi could somebody get back to me please dj jay baker
You cannot delete hot cues on the deck. You can only delete hot cues in the rekordbox software. You can record over top of the old cues on the deck while they are red.
Thanks for the video! Question: If I have 3 hotcue's set to A, B and C they will start playing automatically once I press them. However, is it possible to easily put hotcue B under the Cue button? So if I press the cue button it will start where hotcue B would normally start? Is this done with the memory button?
So if i got it right, it is NOT possible to get them loaded on CDJ 2000 without calling them everytime? Im surprised how bad that is. Also, why do they autoplay, can I turn that off? I want to prepare my track paused on "B", not have it start playing from "B"!
Because hotcues are performance queues. The standard track queues load up automatically with each track and don't start playing automatically which are the ones you want to use.
if you prepare them in rekordbox on your computer first you can select auto load hot cues on your tracks so when you load that track it will load the first cue point in the song normally but load up the 3 hot cues as well, but any hot cue will instantly play when pressed. if ou want it to be paused at a cue point you set the cue points in the track and use the call fuction to move to the cue point you want to use
DJ Habit That makes no sense because you are comparing hardware versus software. Yes Pioneer has 3, and Traktor (as well as Serato DJ) has more, but if you use Traktor in HID mode with Pioneer, you essentially have more. You have three buttons on the Pioneer, but you can MIDI map other buttons to do so (the CDJ-900 has 4 loop buttons that can be remapped). Any DJ MIDI device can act as an alternate cue button as well like a Dicer, the mixer cue buttons, or a MIDI iPad app. So essentially, just because a CDJ has only 3 buttons, does not mean using Traktor with it limits you to three. There are ways around it, that aren't very difficult to setup. :)
Pri yon Joni get a life bro. the reason I'm saying this because i just want to use my usbs and have loads of cue points leave the laptop out.for paying 3000 you should have more cue points on the deck atleast 4.
DJ Habit well, maybe you should consider the XDJ-1000s. It's not more cue points, but its a lot cheaper than the CDJ-2000. But because it is touch screen, it is possible Pioneer can update the firmware to support more than 3. The XDJ-1000 is only $1000. :) Peace be with you.
dude i've been a dj for over 15 years and i've learned more from you're channel than i have in 15 years of djing lol.. killer videos man!
so stupidly desiged why doesnt it load all hot cues when the track is loaded ..
And the fact it keeps the cue points from the previous song is fucking pointless
2024 and its still like this 🤮🤮🤮

Thanks for catching that, I've annotated it to reflect that. Unfortunately as this was the first video, it definitely wasn't perfect :) Working on it
Good video bro! Could you maybe make a video about how to record your mixes?
Hi. Can you do a tutorial on where to place cue points? I am utterly confused as to where to place them. must it only be placed on the beat of a kick drum?
Wow, It's been 10 years since upload of this video. It's sad that you don't upload anymore
I watched this video upside down. Oh, much better.
I recorded hot cues with my xdj rx2 and brought them into rekordbox with sync manager. Do they load up on a cdj if I’m ever going to play on a cdj?
Hey there, is it possible on the 2000s to play a track then whilst it is playing load the 3 cues pre saved for that poticular track into the a b c buttons, without stopping playback of the track ?
You just earned a sub!

Great vid!
Do the comments you put on memory points show up on files exported on usb when playing on cdjs?
isnt there a way to have the hot cues auto load when u load the track ? i cant remember how to do that
Man, I love your videos. They have fiber :) totally living up to your channel's name. Thanks!

Really like your videos, there really helpful.
i have rekordbox and have set hot cues saved to the tracks... how can i pull those up onto the cdj 2000s?
If I have cuepoints set from serato using a MIDI controller (DDJ SX), will those carry over to the CDJ if I just put the songs on a USB?
lets say im using the sl3 at home and have my hot cues set in serato. if i load those tracks onto a thumb drive and use it on someone elses cdj 2000s will my cues be saved?

Hi christian... I own a djm 800, how do i connected the cdj 2000 to get that red ring around the jog wheel, since it isn't happening now...
that feature is only available for mixers with the cat5 plug on them. djm900, djm2000 I am not sure what other models have that
Thanks, this was very helpful!
Is it that when the quantize button is enable and the hot cue is being pressed the hot cue automatically sets itself to the beat nearest the possition at which it was pressed just like on the cdj 2000 nexus? Will everything stay in time?
+Rafal Haras With quantize on, the hot cue will only activate on the beat grid lines, no matter how much you press it.
What mixer is that?
cant you beat match using hot cues, after getting the bpm right?
thanks! your explaining is clear.. subbed!
Thanks for the tutorial.
Can we have a tutorial on using hot cues to create rhythemic affects? seem fun
Friendly Akt totally. i'll add that to the list
Great, informative tutorial!
Thank you!
Thanks! :)
Did the hot cue saved in the flashdisk?
yes
Thank you very much.........
question: When I set up my 3 hot cues on rekord box and then load up the track on the cdj do i have to call the cues every time i switch to a new song?
If you do it in rekordbox it will all be saved. unless you set them from the CDJ im pretty sure
Now you rite "ont he flying mixing"?
so let me get this straight: if i set cue points in rekordbox, i just need to hold the record cue button?
That's only for hot cues. Hot cues need to be called before they can be used. You call them by holding down the (Rec/Call) button then pressing the respective hot cues you want to call. Regular Cue points are only one at a time. You can scroll through by pressing the left and right cue call buttons above the jog wheel adjustment knob.

sometimes when i use a cdj it says needle lock, how do i get rid of this?? thanks
Raman Khela You have to hold down the platter in Vinyl mode to access needle search
How do You Actually Save the cue Point to the Memory?
***** memory button next to the < and > call buttons. Also next to delete. All those memory browsing functions are on the upper right section of the jog section of the deck.

does memory cue points work on cdj 900 nexus?
+Spoder Man yes
holy shit thank you so much for replying! your tutorials helped me so much! :D
no prob spoder man. we have dolan style profiles
Thanks for the video! Question: If I have 3 hotcue's set to A, B and C they will start playing automatically once I press them. However, is it possible to easily put hotcue B under the Cue button? You have it exactly right. However I think it is faster to set the cue first, then the hot cue.
Tnx

I literally just held my laptop upside down to watch this video...
thank you this helps me out alot gonna but Cdj 2000's soon Also i subbed you :) make more helpful vids haha.
these tutorials are great man but why did you put everything upside down?? I had to flip my monitor upside down to see what the hell you're doing lol
@ 3:45 - '' we get out of record mode by tapping A again'' - no, you get out of record mode by tapping that grooved button again.
its all good...except that its upside down........
Cant see
it would be nice if you turned the video 180 degrees
Much easier on my Mixtrack Platinum
pioneer seriously slacking on cue points. traktor so much better

I fucking love my S5. Some clubs seem like they're not totally cool with me bringing my own S5, and i really hope i dont have to use the CDJ 2000s.
Traktor S5*
im glad the the nexus fixed this shitty cue system
does recordbox recognize cue points i sat in serato?
