I haven't been interested in DJ gear for many years and just took a squiz at this randomly. My god, it looks so good. Finally does so much of the stuff I wished it did before
I love Pioneer but I like my laptop more.. as long as my decks do their job, I am happy. This wont be cheap even in 2022. It is a expensive piece of equipment and necessarily sophisticated and because it is, it is very expensive. Instead of this, what I did was invested in a Gamer Laptop and Serato software. Works wonders and looks much better in terms of track-monitoring and playlists
What camera do you use to get the overhead view? Want to get this view for my live streams but struggling to get the right position and picture quality.
I've not DJ'd in years. :ast decks i used were the CDJ 800's. I'm DJing in Thailand next month. Obviously i'll use USB's for new tracks. But being able to take my CD's with house classics and still being able to use them on these decks is good. Cheers for the tips gents. But someone like me all i need, is cue, start and pitch control. The rest is way above my station haha
ask the Lord for it don't wish for it. with wishin your only gonna want.. with Asking the Lord your gonna have.. Prayer works better than wishing.. {p.s. you need faith to make it happen}
For those saying you can't afford this set. Find out if your local music store offers to finance. Save up a couple grand for a down payment, and then pay the rest off (with most finance options) by 1,2,3, or 4-year terms. If you want DJ'ing to be a side income or full-time job, take some money from your gig payments and put more money down per month or every month that you seem fit. Just be smart with your money. Though I must say, don't grab this whole set-up if you're just in your bedroom with no dreams of doing gigs and potentially making money DJing, it would be a big waste of money...only because you won't be seeing the return of investment. It's never bad to invest in yourself and your career.
I have a question on djing, as youll probably be able to tell by this question so im new to djing, so ill try and explain what i mean as clearly as possible. Basically, is there a way to hear the next song youre going to mix in only in the headphones im using without playing it outloud. Say for example i want to start a song half way through, like at the drop, taking out the verse and buildup. I was wondering if there is a way to do this and check through the headphones only? I know you can check on the visualiser thing, but is it possible to do this just in the headphones and how would you do this. I hope it makes sense :)
It's a fairly similar process across most gear - you'll find these features on the mixer (or the mixer section of a controller). For the mixer that goes with this - the Pioneer DJ DJM-9000NX2, you'd do this using the Headphones section in the bottom left of the mixer, along with pressing Cue underneath whichever channel you're pre-listening/hearing in your headphones. Essentially the fader for that channel would be down with the cue button selected, and you could use the volume knob in the headphones section to hear the track without it being live. Once you raise the upfader for that channel, the track will be live. We go over the features for that mixer here: www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/03/review-video-pioneer-dj-djm-900nxs2-mixer/
The CDJs are so awesome, I been thinking to get 2 of those and a DJM mixer, and that's for both my home sets, which I hadn't done yet, and the occasional events. I also wanted to be an masked DJ for My best family member when she's get married, if she will ever get married. P.S: It will be an surprise. 😉
Forgive me if you all covered this..was just skimming thru the video. Does the new cdj's have the needle search function like the older cdj's? The touch sensor?
+Αποστολης Μαριου Not too old, if that fits your budget better then go for it :) Though, the NXS2 system has great updated features for the price. Check out our full review here: www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/03/review-video-pioneer-dj-cdj-2000nxs2-multi-player/
You can use them with Serato DJ in HID mode - Rekordbox makes a lot of sense if you want to use flash drives to play directly on the CDJs w/ no software :)
I played on CDJ-2000's for the first time about 2 days ago and i couldn't figure something out. I expected to see a bigger waveform (since i only saw the one at the bottom which shows your complete waveform) and i got annoyed that i couldn't beat match any of my tracks because i couldn't see the first beat and had to do it by ear. Now my question is: Is the bigger waveform on the LED screen only a nexus option or did i miss something?
By the time i find the first beat of the 2nd track, the first track is already gonna be halfway through. No can do, time is precious in music that spins at 180 bpm.
Still use CDs and 4x CDJ 1000mk3s the day the club standard players doesn't have cd drives will be an awful day...Started with a Numark N4 and moved to CDs
Great video thanks... Would you be able to make a video showing how it's all connected and works with RB DJ? Is it all connected with USB's in HID mode? Can you still connect everything with ethernet cables to your computer with RB and drag and drop your music from RB onto the CDJ's on the bottom? Do you loose information or the waveform on the cdj when your connected to RB DJ? I have the NXS MK1 CDJ's and that's how I use it with my DJM 2000 Nexus as the HUB. Thanks in advanced.
+DJ Tony Romeo yes, you can still do the ethernet connection to laptop for Rekordbox. there is still a 5th "Cue" button on the mixer to preview tracks on laptop before they are loaded in decks. I've not seen anyone test it with Rekordbox DJ, but I do know they are "fully supported". So I imagine waveform information is shown. I doubt they'd launch their top of the line gear without all the features supported

Hey Dale, it might be easier to lug around the RX2 - here's our full review on it, see what you think: www.digitaldjtips.com/reviews/pioneer-dj-xdj-rx2-2/
Looks great and definitely easier to carry around. I still like the nxs2 separates, as they still allow you to use cd's (always nice to have, especially if you are hiring out). I am wondering if Pioneer will bring out a new player with the pads on the front, like all the other units?
+Dj DoDo The XDJ 1000 is a nice alternative - the NXS2 system is definitely intended for serious pro use :) Here's our full opinion on this: www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/03/review-video-pioneer-dj-cdj-2000nxs2-multi-player/
+Dj DoDo I think CDJ 800 or 850 and a Xone mixer in HID with a RGB pad controller for cues and an external effect section is still the best value for money!
Still with the jog bend dead zone and that shitty 0.5 pitch increment on Wide. They also continue to have problems reading drives for very long and jumping into an emergency loop.
Can't say I've ever had issues with cdj850, cdj900nxs and xdj1000mk2 not reading drives after long play. And I've done 8+ hours without drive issues. Perhaps your drives were the issue?
can u run Serato software on these deck's as well? or is it pure Rekord box only? and what's the break down of the current price point of the decks and that mixer? how much does this set up weigh? and are there accessories for them like Travel cases? mike inputs? Skins? how do u maintain them? /cleaning? whats the warranty cover? why didn't you demo scratching? whats the size dimensions? do u guys work for Pioneer? or Rekord box? are they having you guys get paid to promo their gear? so are we getting your "UNBIASED" opinion as professional D.J's? or is it that you guys are bought and paid for as Popular you-tube channel hosts that will get many views and therefore influence many so ya'll get PAID! to speak on this stuff without any con's it seemed like all PRO's and ZERO con's
Blimey, so many questions Bryan! No, they don't "run" any software, they work with Rekordbox libraries which need to be analysed on a laptop to unlock all the feature. that said they will work with Serato in HID or DVS set-ups, but you have to take your laptop along to do that. All prices are in the written reviews. There are no mic inputs on the CDJs, no. No we don't work for or have any affiliation with the companies that make the products we review, we're completely independent (e are a DJ school).
I will upgrade my older cdj with this player soon.... Also I have djs 1000 my country this stuff are funcy for a bedroom dj more than enough... I ve lots of CD but these times no one use CD........ vinly is king but even more difficult to find RECORDS ... New cdj 3000 maybe 2025 😊
Just trying to learn CDJs as I my skills are overlooked as being a laptop DJ. Now please let me know how this is any different than laptop djing with all these buttons and functions. I even have less stuff on my controllers:P LOL
I like this setup but it's quite expensive got all the great technology and features that CDJS usually has. The 2000s are just as good as the 900s I hope to have some CDJ 900s.
I just got my NXS2 setup.. however I'm having trouble setting it up for software integration with recordbox. I've created a aggregate device or my CDJs, and I've connected them via USB, however, I still can't load the decks from the software. does anyone know how to do that? dissapointed that I spent money on rekordbox, and I've followed all the directions, and it's still not intergratable like Pioneer claims..
+Blake Marshall Hey Blake, sorry to hear you're having issues. You can try contacting Pioneer directly and hopefully they can work out a fix for the exact issue, or try asking on the Digital DJ Tips Forum (www.digitaldjtips.com/forum), where the whole community can see your issue and hopefully help you :)
They should really ship them with Digital Coax cables instead of RCA. i mean cmon. they're touting these as superior sound quality, keep the signal digital the whole way through to the DSP for best S/N ratio. You literally cannot clip the channels (not the master, the channels) when you have digital inputs due to the 32bit floating point D/A (literally, try it, the clip indicator lights will not light up no matter how much you go into the red with digital inputs, yes I know red is bad. just explaining a point). it's 2016 and they still ship with RCA
i asked myself the same. they offer digital in/out in that nexus 1 and 2 config, why do people still connect rca??? people talk about the quality of the file and then use rca...? c'mon :)
Am I wrong but this isn’t DJing, this is auto cueing tracks you like, I felt guilty mixing on my old 15year old Pioneer CD decks. I remember having to actually listen to the beats not watching and pressing auto cue 😞
No key sync, no countdown to cue point, in a player that costs €2300! Wow... And you still need an external controller to access all 8 hotcue points at a time. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
+Mario Pandža Rekordbox shows you which keys are compatible on the players. And you can filter it to only show compatible keys. it also has countdown to cue point on the beat grid count at the top of the player, if you've set memory/cue points in the track. and I mean, yea you gotta press one button to access the other 4 cues, but I don't see that as a deal breaker. How often are you juggling 8 different cue points at the same time that you can't press a single button to switch between half of them?
D-Squared Fair enough for the cue points, not juggling that often between all 8 cue points, but something I rely on is adjusting the pitch in +/- 1 increments to change the key (I'm using Traktor), I believe Serato has that as a pitch lock feature so that it automatically changes the pitch for you in case in differs from the track being played.
There's always been a key sync, its called master tempo, its right above the pitch fader. Keep it lighted up to keep the tracks default key when shifting the pitch
@@Skeytch107 It's needed if you want any of all the digital functionality. It works fine with non analyzed music files on a usb stick, but you get the same functionality as with CD's on a CDJ-1000Mk3. Kind of an expensive way... and Rekordbox is a free software you can download and use without owning any gear. Don't confuse Rekordbox with Rekordbox DJ. The later is a DJ software like Serato and Traktor and is NOT required for these players as they are stand alone gear. After you've analyzed your music in Rekordbox, you export your music to a USB-device that will bring all the digital functions to life. Or, you can connect you laptop to the same network (link) as the players and load the tracks directly from Rekordbox. In this case the laptop will work as a storage with a big screen.
+Nacho Lopez tbh i dont think this kind of hardware is for Normal Djs... I think these are to cater to the clubs that purchase these so that switching from DJ to DJ is easy and quick. But as a personal DJ doing more private shows, I cant imagine these being ideal.
+Nacho Lopez, I love Traktor and know it, in my opinnion, very well. But please inform me, how would you do a track search in Traktor playlist with following conditions: "show me all tracks in related keys that are in +-4% bpm range of currently playing song and have energy level (rating) 5 and tags 'energetic' or 'killer'"? This is what you can do in Rekordbox, and now also in this player itself, which is amazing. Traktor is very good in many areas but its playlist functionality and whole collection management is just awful.
i used traktor for many years but i am more happy with the cdj's now. I simply put a setup on my rider, it's by far easier that connect a whole traktor setup ...
@@digitaldjtips You are right there are still some stores that sell it, but the big one Thomann has deleted the brand PioneerDJ , just wondering why...?
You won't wait half a decade this time for a new model. THis will not stand 3 years of Digital controllers development. Otherwise Top DJs will envy bedroom kids cool, intuitive controllers (probably heavely touch screen based) for a fraction of the price.

Why do people want this superb Pioneer gear to work with Traktor!!? Rekordbox rocks!!

+Dj DoDo I think CDJ 800 or 850 and a Xone mixer in HID with a RGB pad controller for cues and an external effect section is still the best value for money!
800 & 850 don't support HID
can you move around the waveforms on the touch screen?
Still with the jog bend dead zone and that shitty 0.5 pitch increment on Wide. They also continue to have problems reading drives for very long and jumping into an emergency loop.
Can't say I've ever had issues with cdj850, cdj900nxs and xdj1000mk2 not reading drives after long play. And I've done 8+ hours without drive issues. Perhaps your drives were the issue?
Thank you 😊
You're welcome Denise 😀

can u run Serato software on these deck's as well? or is it pure Rekord box only? and what's the break down of the current price point of the decks and that mixer? how much does this set up weigh? and are there accessories for them like Travel cases? mike inputs? Skins? how do u maintain them? /cleaning? whats the warranty cover? why didn't you demo scratching? whats the size dimensions? do u guys work for Pioneer? or Rekord box? are they having you guys get paid to promo their gear? so are we getting your "UNBIASED" opinion as professional D.J's? or is it that you guys are bought and paid for as Popular you-tube channel hosts that will get many views and therefore influence many so ya'll get PAID! to speak on this stuff without any con's it seemed like all PRO's and ZERO con's
We just prioritise engaging with people who are polite. And no, nobody pays us for reviews - we make our money from teaching.
Not interested in moving to a controller? Even a standalone one like the XZ or Prime 4?
please how do i use fader start on the djm-900nx2 mixer..
that feature isn't there anymore
Thanks for the help Alex!
does it work ONLY with rekordbox or can it be mapped into serato as well?
Yes should work with Serato as well: www.pioneerdj.com/en-gb/news/2016/pioneer-dj-nxs2-set-up-now-compatible-with-serato-dj/
@CCP Music Dave Clarke uses Serato with CDJ’S so it should be ok for you!
Just trying to learn CDJs as I my skills are overlooked as being a laptop DJ. Now please let me know how this is any different than laptop djing with all these buttons and functions. I even have less stuff on my controllers:P LOL
Hardly different at all really. It's not about the gear you use but the tracks you play! :-)
Yeah... why CD drive? to keep the name intact does anybody still own something to burn CD's?
How much is it?
I like this setup but it's quite expensive got all the great technology and features that CDJS usually has. The 2000s are just as good as the 900s I hope to have some CDJ 900s.
Thanks for weighing in :)
Thank you so much..!
No problem :)
Tell me: you want to connect your setup to a laptop with RB on it? if so, that's, if i am not wrong, only possible via cat cable, not usb.
My only gripe is that they are not traktor compatible.
It is by now. It even supports the HID of Traktor!
Does the ddj sp1 work without a laptop?
Hey Carson! You'll need to run it with a computer/DJ software
Dam, do you know of an effects unit like this that works without a laptop?
Rmx
They should really ship them with Digital Coax cables instead of RCA. i mean cmon. they're touting these as superior sound quality, keep the signal digital the whole way through to the DSP for best S/N ratio. You literally cannot clip the channels (not the master, the channels) when you have digital inputs due to the 32bit floating point D/A (literally, try it, the clip indicator lights will not light up no matter how much you go into the red with digital inputs, yes I know red is bad. just explaining a point). it's 2016 and they still ship with RCA
i asked myself the same. they offer digital in/out in that nexus 1 and 2 config, why do people still connect rca??? people talk about the quality of the file and then use rca...? c'mon :)
I feel this is good information, but if you could explain it in english that would be really appreciated? :) XD
delhi rock still a banger
Agreed :)
CD Players like these take the fun out of djing because they make it way toooo easy.
Thanks for the feedback on this Jonny!
why and how do they take the fun? you can be creative .... (no need to use sync, as that is a often mentioned subject ;) )
riding horses is alot of fun but i prefer my car as a transportation :)
can you run 4 individual usb sticks with tracks on 4 decks? through i link?
Yes you can :-)
is it a video for the CDJ2000 with the s9 mixer?
We don't have such a video, no, although we do have an S9 review: ruclips.net/video/jBAFw9xnhB8/видео.html
Gimme a set of those please! *-*
:D
+Digital DJ Tips Well... the xdj r1 would be enough though
Is 2000 nexus2 worth 300$ difference with 2000nexus
Yes, but get the 3000 today, the 2000s are now outdated.
@@digitaldjtips well 3000's are still expensive, I'm thinking to get 2000's to train on them instead
How much
Around $2000 per CDJ
8:37 How were you ever supposed to beat match perfectly on cdjs before?
I know right ;) In all seriousness in case this isn't meant as a joke you used your ears, which is how we teach people to DJ as well
@@digitaldjtips yeah
Its highly unlikely for a mk 3? It must be nearly time now, cmon. Any release dates?
Hopefully we'll hear something soon
Am I wrong but this isn’t DJing, this is auto cueing tracks you like,
I felt guilty mixing on my old 15year old Pioneer CD decks.
I remember having to actually listen to the beats not watching and pressing auto cue 😞
DJing is playing the right tracks for the people in front of you, right now. Anything goes.
I'm looking for a video of someone using CDs on the 2000s anyone know of any?
that guy on the right doing my head in. let him talk ffs
Bougth this gear two weeks ago and still didn't have time to unbox.... :-(
Soon hopefully :(
Can i connect mobile in player..
Plz help me if u can
What exactly do you mean? To connect your mobile phone to the CDJ and play music from your phone, into the CDJ?
Best video ever
Thanks!
Why does the jog wheel turn white to red while playing?
Red means the channel is live (fader is up), you can turn this off
@@digitaldjtips how can you turn it off or is there a way to switch faded up to white?
Can't remember, if the check the manual it'll be in there
No key sync, no countdown to cue point, in a player that costs €2300!
But yeah, controllers are more powerful xd. And djing with ableton is more powerful than a controller xd xd
I wish I can have
What is the house tune he plays?
"Dehli Rock" by 30 hurts
4 years later still pricey. will wait for the upgrade version.
I'm sure they always will be (relatively speaking), the CDJ-3000's are a decent bit better for not much more which is nice though
Sorry to be a pedant, but you missed out a 2 in the title...
+Jozman2005 No worries, thanks :)
Do you need recordbox
To organise your tracks beforehand, yes :-)
Digital DJ Tips but is it needed and does it come with it
Thanks
I need that
Have you considered the DDJ-1000, Nick? Most of the functions, far lower price (although of course you do need your laptop). Or the XDJ-RX2?
You have a mistake in the title. It's NXS2 and not NXS ;)
+intrance8888 Nicely spotted, thanks :)
Every feature can be done in traktor with far less steps and at a fraction of the cost.
Traktor is very good in many areas but its playlist functionality and whole collection management is just awful.
go to you playlist, click on the key title, scroll untill you see the required key. Estimated time: less than 2 seconds.
Just a click and scroll
i used traktor for many years but i am more happy with the cdj's now. I simply put a setup on my rider, it's by far easier that connect a whole traktor setup ...
Professional dj controller low price tell bro 20 thousand under bro
Check out our gear guide here: djtips.co/join , it'll help you make the right choice
4 years ago it was new and today the whole Pioneer DJ segment is extinct.
Pioneer DJ equipment is no longer available from the big sellers.
But why ?
Erm what? 😅They released a new player a couple of months ago that you could buy in about 100 different places within seconds of googling.
@@digitaldjtips
You are right there are still some stores that sell it, but the big one Thomann has deleted the brand PioneerDJ , just wondering why...?
No idea (that haven't deleted it but they don't have many products showing). Either way they're still the biggest DJ brand on the planet
I still use cds... and vinyl...
I have two cdj 350s with not that much extra help. Bought a turntable and started a record collection. Cant afford this gear :D
You won't wait half a decade this time for a new model. THis will not stand 3 years of Digital controllers development. Otherwise Top DJs will envy bedroom kids cool, intuitive controllers (probably heavely touch screen based) for a fraction of the price.
ah ha! So its a no go on plug and play with Rekordbox. Better just come with the USB!
