    This is a documentary on KT Rolster. A team who has built some of the best League of Legends rosters who've never been able to finish off a tournament. Well, almost never. They're a staple of lol esports history, but their rivals SK Telecom T1 (now just T1) and Faker have always outshone them. KT might be one of the most underrated teams in Korean League of Legends Esports, but they're also one of the most underrated teams in the world.

    As a newer fan of League, the one team I fell in love with was the 2017 KT Rolster lineup. At first, it was about buying into the hype, the "superteam" mantra the then squad was known for. But after every game, every loss, every hiccup, I realized the reason I loved the team was not because of their potential and ability to win, it was because after every loss, no matter how big or how small, they were always trying to get better in an endeavor to achieve greatness.
    That best of 5 series against IG broke my heart for KT. To always know the truth of if they won that series, that roster would be at one time, the indisputable best in the world, and would go down in League history as legends. It hurt even more when I knew the players would disband if they didn't win the championship right then and there.
    Ever since, I haven't really followed League anymore, because that team was the only reason I was following competitive league, and was the only reason I was trying to get better at the game. I followed that roster from the very inception of it, to its final moments, and I don't think I'll ever get attached and "excited" to a team as much as I was to that 2017-2018 roster. There was a certain draw and feel to KT at the time that I just haven't felt ever since. I believe that's the thing about KT, even when they lose, they look amazing and can very well be the best team there is.
    Somehow, a part of me still believes that one day, that roster would be whole again, and the thought of that roster winning it all can't help but excite me. A part of me goes out to that original 2017 roster. Smeb, who at one time was being touted the player to finally be better than Faker. Score, the greatest roleswap player of all time, the greatest jungler in the world, the pillar for KT, THE franchise player. Pawn, the second coming of faker himself. Deft, the ADC superstar, Jinx God, Ezreal beast! Mata, the most profilic support of all time. Finally, Ucal, the new hope, the midlaner who finally brought score his title.
    My heart goes out to all these players, and to KT themselves. No team will ever come close to you in my heart. In success, and in failure, you will always be my favorite team. Whatever you try your hand at next, I'll be there and I'll try my best not to get excited.
    Hats off to you KT.

    I fell in love with KT Rolster when I first started playing Lol in 2015, their play at Worlds that year somehow felt personable. I liked the players, their attitude, their effort. Watched LCK ever since. The "KT Roller-Coaster" is real, I've gone to bed disappointed -so many- times. The 2016 "10 hp" Baron steal by Smeb haunts me still. I follow the players of that roster, still cheering for Ssumday and Fly. I actually cried when Score finally won the finals last year. KT isn't a team you pick because you like to win, you pick them because you can identity with the players, and their story. No matter how much you get knocked down, get back up, and keep fighting.

    as an KT fan this was hard to watch, but was also great to relive the good KT moments even tho they were few, i remember the first KT game i watched was 2014 IEM katowice when KT Bullets faced Gambit in the semifinals, i was watching with my friend that was a gambit fan and KT was up 1-0 then the 2nd game KT was winning but GMB attempted a huge comeback until KTB did a insane call to backdoor with 5 members, it was such a memorable moment i just instantly became a KT fan, then later on the year i ended up seeing the OGN finals SSB vs KT Arrows, i didn't really follow the OGN tho since timezones were too bad, but i watched that series and it was incredible and KT winning at the ending made me super hyped to see them at worlds, i thought they had already qualified to worlds after that so i was shocked to see a few days later thayt they were down 0-2 vs NaJin in the qualifiers and ended up losing, i was really sad but since was my first year watching LOLEsports i just kept looking forward to next year, i got the KT icon every single year it was available at the shop and rooted for them to win LCK 2015 Sadly they lost but still believed they could perform at worlds, ssumday, score and arrow were just so likeable players and they played so well they deserved to win more, 2016 was too much for me honestly seeing them finally conquer their SKT demons by defeating them in the semifinals gave me so much hope for them to make worlds again but the 2 HP Baron vs ROX and the loss to Samsung was just too sad, then ssumday and arrow left the team and i lost a bit of my kt love, but also got insanely hyped for the super team since Deft and PawN were also among my favorite players, but ofc in the end they missed worlds again in such unfortunate fashion, it's insane to think in 2016 and 2017 KT was the ONLY Team to manage to beat the eventual world champions in bo5, and yet couldn't make it to the big stage, 2018 was the redemption year and i felt a huge amount of happiness when they won vs Griffin and aparently after that series Griffin enherited the KT curse losing 3 straight finals... and just like KT in 2018 lost to iG in the quarterfinals of worlds, i remember watching KT vs IG and that game 3 backdoor was in my opinion the defining moment of KT as a team, as KT they SHOULD lose in 3-0 and not be able to win the base race, but they did and as i was screaming due to the insanity of that moment i was sure that was gonna be the turnaroud of kt and they will get the reverse sweep and win worlds, but ofc they just lost and that was the last time we saw a really good KT team making a huge performance, 2019 and 2020 were years to forget as nothing good came out of the org, i still hope one day KT Rolster will win worlds and i'll be abble to buy my KT skins, but i'll prob be waiting a looong time for that... anyways thanks for making this documentary i really wish i had watched earlier

    Flash isn't just considered the best SC:BW player of all time, he is the best player of all time. He's the current highest rated Bonjwa of all time as of the liquipedia article on Bonjwa's.

    The new team who never wins is Griffin :
    - 2nd in 2018 summer playoffs (2-3 vs KT)
    - 3rd in 2018 regional finals (2-3 vs GenG)
    -> couldn't qualify for Worlds 2018
    - 2nd in 2019 spring playoffs (0-3 vs SKT) -> couldn't qualify for MSI 2019

    Idc, every time, which is only so often, I get a little watery eyes hearing "good luck in solo que, and have a wonderful day". It reminds me of when i first starting watchin gbay99. When I was younger, when he was younger. When this game meant something else to me. How i changed and seeing him change as well. I want to sincerely say, Thank You gbay99, for all your hard work, TOP notch content, and making me want to become a better player in LoL and IRL.

    As much as I miss the old "Completing league" and "road to X" videos, I have to say I do like the Docs. They're well made and I can tell it's a passion project. Something Gbay really cares about. And that's all that matters. I hope you really do enjoy making these, my dude. Keep it up.

    Common misconception, InSec didn't actually invent the technique, it was already rampant in Korean solo queue. He was simply the one who popularized it pro play

    Long time League player here and while I root for SKT in LCK, I have great respect for KT, who's been in the pro scen for a long time, even if they never win.
    I give props to Score for sticking with KT for so long, he's the face of KT just as much as Faker is to SKT and I'm glad he at least got an LCK championship before he retired for military service this year. Playing at a high level on a often losing team is a testament to his talent.
    KT may not be doing well this year, but I pray that they nevet give up and keep fighting. I want to see the Telecom Wars go on for as long as LoL lives.

    Score is one of those ride or die, be with you through thick n thin, always giving 1000% type of dudes. That's why KT is committed to not letting him go and I'm sure he doesn't want to leave.

    Another point of tragedy is that KT missed worlds 2017 because their rivals SKT (after beating KT) LOST to Longzhu in the finals, taking the 2nd seed which would’ve otherwise gone to KT

    Even after making it to worlds this year 2023 after not making it for many years. They still had the worst draw ever in the new swiss system having to face all eastern teams to qualify ( BLG DK WBG LNG DK ) keep in mind one of the semis is BLG vs WBG . They qualified and still draw JDG ( the team that won LPL spring Msi and LPL summer ) and on their way to complete golden road . They have to face them in quarters tomorrow. And they are at the most stacked bracket with LNG ( the second best Chinese team after JDG ) and T1 in the same bracket with them . Man i am really starting to believe they are cursed .
    Good luck tomorrow KT

    "You might have played insane in the series, you might have been better individually. But you still lost. Others might view this as an insane series but two months from know they will only remember the result. I may be satisfied by the way I played right now but I will never be satisfied with the way I played two months from now"

    Your videos remind me of the good days of league, and it makes me want to really get into it again.
    And then I log in and see where the community has gone, which is far downhill. Nothing but toxicity. No more dancing with the enemies at level 1, no more joking in all chat. I couldn't tell you the last time I had fun with someone in this game, or the last time I made a new friend through League. It sucks.

      I dont comment much on youtube videos normally. But dayumm it has been an amazing journey seeing you grow and how you keep transitioning your channel. There is no other league or even maybe gaming youtuber who does who you do, you have discovered such as niche amazing spot for you and I hope that this is as fulfilling for you to make as to watch.
      I started watching you all the way back with the art of war series, and have been following you ever since so its super exciting to see how you have transition from all kind ofdifferent genres and ended up here. You have definetly made a long term fan!
      p.s One small mistake, at some point you state that insect is the first one to ever do an "insect" but even though he was the first one to do it on a proffesional stage, it was getting popular already on its own in korean soloQ in that time. Nevertheless an amazing video!!

    I absolutely love documentaries. A nice bit of take out and a good documentary is my idea of a Saturday night well spent. Ever since finding your channel, I have been amazed at the content and quality of what you put out. More than anything, it's the balance of relevant information that allows us to draw our own conclusions that work in tandem with your personal views. Understandably, it's near impossible to eliminate the narrator's/director's/writer's own personal bias, but you do a damn fine job of being both impartial but also passionate in your videos. I thoroughly look forward to seeing more from your channel. Keep up the phenomenal work good sir (Y)
