The first time I ever opened twitch back in season 3 it happened to be the world finals and SKT was in their draft phase. As a Korean American I decided to root for them since they’re a Korean team. The rest is history.
For me what makes faker stand out from every other player is just how much respect he has for other players. He never trash talks, he never tilts, he never tries to find excuses for losses, and never brags. There is not another play that I can think of who is so mature and humble while still maintaining their position at the top. Ironic that he's the face of league.
The one time he gave an excuse it he was so frustrated only because they could practice due to ddos attacks. Which is like the most valid of all reasons you can give.

The man who shaped league of legends. I literally got into league because of him and I can't imagine my life without league of legends as it saved me in very tough time. All the respect to the GOAT may he have a happy and healthy life ahead.
개인적으로 페이커선수 가장 대단하다고 생각하는건 주변에서 뭐라고 하든 자신만의 페이스로 자신의 길을 개척해 뚜벅뚜벅 걸어간다는 것입니다. 지난 11년간 가장 앞에서 온갖 비바람을 맞으며 개척자의 길을 걸어 왔고, 아직도 그 자리에서 새로운 길을 찾아가며 수 많은 이들에게 영감과 동기를 부여해주는 페이커선수 응원합니다!
성캐 말이 진짜 맞다. 언제나 잘해야 하고 우승이 당연해야 하고 준우승은 실패고 동시에 상징성도 있어야 하고 잠시 흔들리는 것조차 이해받지 못한다는 거. 수십 수백억 연봉은 당연히 부럽지만 조금이라도 틈이 보이면 '증명해라' '물로켓' 이러면서 알지도 못하는 수많은 사람들에게 비난받고 그럼에도 흔들릴 수 없는 운명은 너무 가혹한데 그럼에도 한 치도 어긋나지 않고 이 씬의 아이콘이자 GOAT가 된 페이커가 존경스럽다.

It's impossible to fully fathom how legendary and dominant SKT T1 Faker's golden run from Season 3-7 really was, you had to be there to experience it. Faker is not just the face of League of Legends, he IS League of Legends. Faker is THE legend.

It was insane, 13 to 17 faker was like an unstoppable force, whole team strategies where made just to neutralize him, killing faker was like the real goal, people would get mad from seeing him winning everything, and after he finally lost, It was heartbreaking.
At the time there were no comments like LPL is number 1 region. The only comments were Who's gonna come in 2nd?

I started LoL in 2016, i didn't know anything about this game, i just used it to get distracted from a very complicated life... And i remember a friend told me to watch the worlds in 2016, since i started playing 2 months ago before worlds... I remember i didn't know any team, any player, i was just someone watching trying to understand how pro players play, and then i saw this guy called Faker... Since then i fell in love with SKT, and of course i started watching Faker videos, to learn to play champs, he truly has been my inspiration... I have always been a "Gold" player, but last year, i really watched more videos of faker to understand more the micro and macro gaming, and all of the sudden i made it to Esmerald... Unfortunately i dont have a good computer and now i can't play anymore... But i will never forget that i played league of legends and thanks to a guy called Faker i got the inspiration to compete, to try to be the best player of my team, wether i was playing alone or with friends, i always wanted to be the leader like him, and that truly helped me on my toughest moments... Thanks Faker, you will always be the League of Legends goat.

There's potential for better mechanics, higher individual skill but Faker is everything, from a strong start, to his consistency of being near the top, to a team leader that his entire team relies on in order to function, even his humility and mindset. You just can't have a more perfect player
The only thing that anyone can surpass him is playing longer than him, if the young ones played much longer than him would be a huge possibility but the question is, will they be able to recreate or surpass the achievements Faker already established? I don't think that there's a possibility of that maybe if they play so long but then achieving it within 10 years? It's like a very huge task to achieve.
@@batcrow6224 True, to add more, Faker's success isnt only bound to his skills in the game, but also by the story and marks he has made. He literally is like the main protagonist of a story, a literal upstart prodigy who stayed at the top for years then fall then rise again. Can you ever think of someone in esports do that again? Heck even in sports in general, that's once in a lifetime.

NO one is gonna be a couple years ahead of anyone at this day and age. What separated faker is he was playing League in 2020 when everyone else was playing a game that was in 2013.
Faker evolved and learned everything so quickly before anyone caught up. Why it's much harder for him to win titles right now.
As someone who has been watching and rooting for Faker since his debue and became an esports superfan because of him, there were many moments in this video that nearly brought me to tears thinking about how trying his journey has been.
However, when I finally saw KKoma's reaction to seeing Faker lift the summoner cup again after 7 long years.. that let the flood gates lose. You can see he almost breaks too, overwhelmed with sadness, joy and pride. As his coach and mentor for so many years, nobody understands better than him what Faker has been through.
The grueling gauntlet and endless grind of never giving up and moving forward in the face of overwhelming odds being against you.. i believe KKoma's sees it all, along with the suffering and struggle behind faker's calm and stoic demneaour.
I know its been said many times but ill say it again, Faker is my goat and THE GOAT of esports. He is a monument to passion, perseverance and resilience and living proof of never giving up no matter from how high you fall from and how long you stay down. As a 33 year old competitive gamer among other things, this man is my inspiration to keep going both in and out of game :')
Watching Fakers early plays gives me chills seeing how long hes been playing the longevity of it. Seeing the start and hearing he won again recently brought me full circle after i quit in 2020

케리아의 눈물은 케리아 눈물 자체로도 슬펐지만 눈물이 잔뜩 고인채로 눈이 빨개져있는 페이커가 동생들 챙기려고 좌우 두리번거리는거로 진짜 정점을 찍음. 그 순간에 그 장소에 17년도에 좌절하던 페이커와 22년도에 챙겨야할 팀원과 동생들이 있기에 더이상 혼자 울고있을수 없는 페이커. 두명의 페이커가 공존하던 순간이였음.

그야말로 '신이 된 사나이'.
롤이란 게임에 관해 전혀 관심이 없었던18년도(19년?) 쯤 운전중에 들었던 라디오 광고에서 '페이커 이상혁선수의 중국 팬들이 사막에 나무를 심었다.' 라는 이야기를 들었었다.
마침 얼마전 중국과의 거래에서 손해는 아니었어도 매우 힘든 과정이 있어서 중국에대한 이미지가 한참 않 좋았을 때인데..
'뭐 하는 사람이길래 그 중국인들이 우리나라사람 팬이라 이야기하며 나무를 심지?' 라는 궁금함에 검색을 했고
엄청난 천재선수였고 이젠 은퇴 직전에 무지성, 무차별 비난을 받는 흔하고 씁쓸한 몰락영웅임을 알게되었다.
왠지 모를 울컥함과 반발심에 그때부터 조금씩 롤을 공부하며 페이커선수를 응원하기 시작했다.
그래도 다시 우승하거나 그럴 거라는 생각은 못했고 은퇴전에 멋진 모습으로 악플러들 입을 잠시라도 닫게 만들고 훈훈한 은퇴를 했으면 좋겠다 정도의 마음이었다.
시간이 조금 흐른뒤 유재석님의 프로그램에서 유재석님에게 질문 하는 모습을 보며 '아 이겨내고 성숙했으며 단단해져가고 있구나' 라는 느낌을 받았고
