My dad loved tool at the time that I was a kid and back then I didn’t have the capacity to appreciate them as artists. Now, I realize they are literally the right people, who crossed paths at the right time, who are all on the same wave length, and a better group of musicians couldn’t have been hand picked to come together. Being able to play this music live and have it sound as good as the studio version is something special 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Maynard has incredible vocal chops. Haven't seen them in person but on many live clips...His onstage antics are something no vocal coach would recommend yet he is flawless.

Love this song but I always wondered why Maynard hide off the side of the stage is it to put focus on the band or is he shy or just not that interested in performing live I heard a few things about him not being 100% with tool and focusing on his other bands and his winery
As far as I know he has kinda considered Tool to be Adam, Danny, and Justin's band or project and didn't want to take away from the music. I've also heard that he likes to be to the side, above, or behind the band so that his microphone doesn't really pick up anything else except his vocals.
From what I gathered, he views Tool as Adam's band. The vocals are a feature not a main ingredient, and he want the audience to give their attention to the instruments. In his other bands APC and Pucifer he is stage-front.
He said he does that now because he needs the dark places to hide to get into the emotion he was feeling when he wrote the Lyrics... He doesn't like flashing lights from the audience because it hurts his eyes... I'm sure the lasers and lights on stage really Fuck him up... But the founder of TOOL was Adam Jones... It was completely his idea and he asked Maynard if he wanted to start a band then found Paul but Danny wouldn't play with them because he was too busy... But a guest drummer bailed on them while they practiced at Danny's place and he felt sorry for them and played in the band Autographs drummers stead... And the rest is History... I'm glad he didn't show 🤣 I'm sure he regrets that... Paul D'Amore most likely regrets it too... But without Justin Chancellor I don't know if they would be anywhere near where they are now... His bass playing stands out wayyy more than Paul and defines their sound more... Danny Carey is the main ingredient in Tool of course... But all 4 Together are Undeniable... TOOL is the greatest band ever!!!!

Well yeah the group is getting old I mean Maynard is 55 years old and has been performing like this since the 90's that really puts a strain on your voice. For their age they still perform so good.

I've not been lucky enough to see them in person, yet..but I've seen them live a hundred times on RUclips...one thing I've noticed by starting when Paul was playing bass they were raw as fuck but still kicked ass... Then phenomenally they get a boost in sound as Justin Chancellor replaces Paul D'Amore they get this ingredient that makes Adam Jones and (if even possible) Danny Carey even better... Paul was a great bass player but we have to be honest here, Justin is a fucking beast on the bass... As I watch entire live performances from them from when they first came out up to now... They have absolutely perfected every part of everything they do by a million times... When you throw in the newer shows with the freaking out of the World Laser Show and visuals behind them and over the audience it literally blows my mind.. I've seen hundreds of the greatest bands ever live Absolutely No Band Can Touch TOOL... I know people will disagree with this next statement and I love their music immensely but even Pink Floyd in their prime don't even come close to what TOOL can do... They just can't touch TOOL they were great for the 70s and early 80s but they just couldn't keep their shit together and left the world to suffer without them and that's where most of their legend came from but Pink Floyd was nowhere near as awesome then as Tool is today... I was alive every year of Pink Floyd and it burned out too soon but somehow Tool just gets better and better with every concert I watch.... I get goosebumps and shit seeing them on someone's cell phone video.. I really can't believe how they sound even then... I really want to see them this May in Daytona Beach...
