I was at this show. I told my friend we will never see them in a place this small ever again. The Glasshouse in Pomona held about 800, tops. Nearly 30yrs later it stays with me. This is the magic of TOOL
My problem when still going to concerts was that I saw bands as Tool and Soundgarden a few months BEFORE I became a fan of them. I remember I saw tool as a warm-up band of Rage against the machine. I definetly liked them, but did not know any song. Now it would be a major event to see them life again. At least I can say I saw them life.
You're fucking lucky, i was born in 97. All these bands were gone by the time i had money to see them. But one summer i saved all my money cause guess what, soundgarden was playing in my home town detriot, loved the show but when i woke up that morning you can guess what happened.
I saw Fallout Boy play a show in front of about 75 people at a VFW or something before people knew them. Not as cool, but closest thing I've got. Alien Ant Farm in a parking lot outside a bar once too.
"Live" my friend, "Life" has a completely different meaning. Plus it is a noun where in most cases "Live" is a verb where in this case it's an adjective. Oh but I'm so happy you were able to see them perform. It's unreal isn't it.
his physical performance is almost not human, so much emotion portrayed through movement. its like his emotions he felt writing the song make themselves flesh through his skin
I wouldn't even put this in the same genre, it's it's own thing, yeah it's heavy sounding but it's progressive, the bass lines and drum patterns are incredibly clever, the lyrics are just exceptional, one of my favourite bands, just fantastic
Man these dudes never cease to amaze me. One of THE most talented bands ive ever heard and to this day sound fucking amazing on everything live ive ever seen and its not doctored its straight up live footage recorded at the board possibly if not probable. Real deal....Tool was are will be performers to the utmost.
I had tix to see Afghan Whigs at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit in the 90's and they opened their own show so they could leave early and see Tool at Cobo Arena!! Respect 💯
Saw this live in ‘96 in providence. Life altering experience. I can still remember my friend yelling, “He’s all painted blue!”, And my other friend yelling for Psychotica to finish their set.
I’ve always liked Tools music, but never really payed attention to them. Then I realized every band I loved sounded allot like tube. I can honestly now say Tool is THE only band that counts since the 90s.
Man I remember when Maynard used to lead this band at front of stage before disappearing to the darkness of the stage beside Danny. So incredible.. need them back to this raw playing style.. don't get me wrong I live new tool and there shows but this is the shit right here
you are doing an exellent job Hunt keep up the good work, this videos keep my ego way to high, saludos desde tijuana, (This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to) not a good song to go to sleep
Discovered tool in late 1995 endeavored to see as many live performances as possible for their first album release.. searching desperately for the Riverside theater Milwaukee Wisconsin of 1996 that particular performance was complete and exhilarating.. any recording of that performance will do please post as soon as possible..
Thanks for correcting me. The buzzcut threw me ;) Saw another old video where Maynard introduced Justin as the “new guy”, didn't see that here. I might have also known by how animated he was. Paul was pretty active on stage compared to Adam, and maybe Maynard too. Justin seems to have started out more still and grown more animated (comparably;) over the years.

This is it right here! Minimalist stage setup (no LED lights or giant screens), intimate venue, and an incredible performance by amazing musicians!
Guitar, drum, bass, vocals
The pinnacle of human existence... 1996 at a TOOL show.
no cell phones
And Billy running around for setup before apc was even a thought
Like the song says "what ever happened to subtlety"
Maynard's most incredible vocal performance in my opinion
that and Sober live with the pink pyjamas
Santa Cruz 94 with MJK featuring LSD is my personal favorite.
There’s such a ferocity in his delivery here im never heard on record
Yeah this whole set is spot on
If you born in the 70’s like me it is his best. Agreed.
When I first heard Tool on the radio I thought they had 2 drummers 😂 Wasn’t no way one man could play all that!
DAVE ABRUZZESE #1 drummer, NICK MENZA #1 drummer too!
@@derekknight9789neither of them were in tool buddy 😭😂 it was Danny Carey
@@derekknight9789nick Menza Megadeth
@@nonbandrelated2003 He didn't imply they were, to be fair.

When you think of the quality of music Tool was putting out live in 1996, this is mind blowing. Tool Army rise up!
Hell yes
There were a ton of good bands in the 90s, especially in the underground.
amen~
Yeah sucks he decided to perform behind a freaking curtain.
THIS is the TOOL I will always remember! Opiate and Undertow included of course!

Bruh, pre 9 years of meiosis me wishes he was there.

I'm not a fan of metal but I love love love Tool. In a league of their own for sure 😮

man, they transcended that genre definition years ago. they're their own thing at this point.
When u finally realize the true meaning of stinkfist the song😂 he really does hate his fans😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 love it
Blew everyone’s mind seeing this in 96. Lucky fuckers.
Good upload dude.
I saw Tooll in Wash D C. in. 1998... awesome then , just mind blowing now ..thanks
Extacy and rave music robbed me of this greatness 😂
I woulda loved to see tool at this time.. thank god someone recorded it for us,
Wow, 46 n 2 gave me chills. Great sound. Just goes to show Tool's music stands by itself.
if I had a time machine, I would go to this live.
Adam's creepy ass stare at 10:30 is so frightening. Love the dude.
I grew up watching this on a bootleg VHS I got a flea market…thanks so much for sharing!!
If i was granted three wishes witnessing this live would be the first one.

TOOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy shit, that gave me goosebumps, that was the best live performance I think I've ever seen tool do
Whoever attended this show is so god damn lucky
I was there.... Can't believe I found this .

I can still remember my friend yelling, “He’s all painted blue!”,

Love it.Very intense. He moves just like the characters in the animated in the videos.
My good god, what a masterpiece!
damn, couldnt help but also see the drummer go mental on those percussions, that fucker can play
Best drummer of all time. Danny Carey
Bro that drum solo was crazy
Saw Tool for the first time in 1998...good fucking times!
Love how there is not one phone anywhere 🤘🤘💕💕
Didn’t exist yet lolol
Who else saw the drum stick fall at 3:09
Yeah and maynard had noticed it
11:19 Holy cow Danny comes in with POWER and precision
Thanks for posting this video.
What a epic performance outstanding one of my all time favorites by tool Maynard is the only one who can get away with using 2 mics at once
I believe I've also seen serj do it.. both outstanding artists though
Epic material! Thanks for recording this session on analogue tape 3 decades ago!
Just musical genius. Blew my mind today
UNO Lakefront Theatre in New Orleans, AEnema tour myself. Was blown away, was one of the best shows I've had pleasure to see.
For me this song is all about Danny and Maynard.... just the best
I’ve always liked Tools music, but never really payed attention to them. Then I realized every band I loved sounded allot like tube. I can honestly now say Tool is THE only band that counts since the 90s.
U can hear every emotional cadence at the end of each word
This is an Epic performance Hands Down, I love the Music Video for Stinkfist. Very good performance.
I ran sound at this show. I worked at The Glasshouse from 95-2000, magical times for sure. Maybe some of that magic will be recreated one day... 😉

How does this video only have 58k views??
This was the best and my guy MJK killed his voice for us ! ❤
...🛠Tool🛠FOREVER...
There are no bands on this level anymore. It's like the 70's energy resurfaced in the early to mid 90's, peaked and burnt out - never to return.
Omfucking god..,..I have no words.,..they are so incredible!
I feel them....unreal!
Back when tool were fun to see live
i love that you can see danny in the most of the shot, always interesting to look at what he can do with two hands

This music is my church.

Adam Jones and Tom Morrello came fro the same town! Wow
I think they went to the same high school
I was just about to graduate HS in 1997 when Maynard corrupted my brain. I was never the same and the man I am today.
OMFG 🔥🔥
What a perfomence
I watch this video every time I’m drunk. I drink everyday.
When Maynard stomped that foot,we all felt it!
Maynard has the best moves.
Think this same year I saw them in Albuquerque. L7 opened for them?
Cool old vid! I thought we might see Chancellor here, but it looks like it's still D'Amour bringing in the low end :)
That is in fact Justin on bass
Thanks for correcting me. The buzzcut threw me ;) Saw another old video where Maynard introduced Justin as the “new guy”, didn't see that here. I might have also known by how animated he was. justins stingray tone on 46&2 is spanky as hell
look up the shadow theory or something like that. i think wikipedia has something on it. it's kinda weird but I love the song
I wish I was alive to see this. I was only an idea.
🔥🔥🔥
Just after 4:15 imagine Maynard stepping on Cockroaches
2 mics…badass
Danny is the best drummer ever
and to think Maynard this this all sober never was on drugs! CRAZY. i wanna do drugs just watching him
10:24 even the security is having a good time

wtf. had to double check to make sure I wasnt listening to the studio version.
Was that billy howerdell running across the stage in the beginning lol

Paul D'Amour on bass. Justin is awesome but the mindless flock seems to forget some of the best TooL songs derived from this lineup!

Justin was in the band by this point.
