This was my first concert. My older brother and father were both huge tool fans and took me along. I was 8 at the time been in love with tool ever since. My dad and brother are both gone now but everytime i hear them its like i get them back for the next 6 or so minutes.
but really the songs aren't that close, maybe one or two riffs but not enough that I'd say they stole it or even copied it. Maybe they were inspired by it... that would be fair to say.
“Unfortunately for you that means we’re not polished on this shit so you get the worst show of the tour”- *procedes to play the best performance of any song I have heard ever*
Man their music is timeless and genre-less. They're just "Tool". You could play this is in another 20 years and it will be just as fresh as it is now, and was 20 years ago.
@@ok-ug7ul pfffftttt bahahahaha GTFO with that. Calling it "rock" as if that carries any worthwhile meaning is like referring to it as "music" performed by "humans". No sh*t sherlock. Try going a little deeper than that and you'll quickly run out of adequate comparisons.
love maynards dancing he feels every sonic vibration and moves with each sound from the instruments..very trippy..ppl who say they dont like his dancing are not true fans of tool
+pilotk all the band members have there own movment to the music didnt mean just maynard i was referring to the ppl who dont see the point if his dancing...dudes like a fucking alien
His voice sounded so freaking amazing back then. Kinda sounds rusty now but its from 20+ years singing and screaming his head off. Id still kill to see them. Most creative metal band ever in my opinion
Just saw them a week or so back and he's sounding really good nowadays. Definitely not in his prime but he certainly still sounds amazing I'll never forget seeing em live
Thank you to the fabulous creature that uploaded this- I love you, I love you, I love you! I got to watch ye olde Tool perform 16 years ago, something I couldn't be there for on account of being 4 years old, damn. Thanks again!
I was at this show, it was wicked. I was also at the last tour of the show which was the Universal Ampitheatre which was only so-so, tool doesn't work in a sit-down venue. Brings back memories! Thank you for posting.
They were incredible back in the day. Like who else sings that good all bent up like that, just shows the extreme level Maynard was and is at as a singer and performer. Setting a bar that I'm sure would be very hard to meet as someone trying to make music to make history like tool has done on multiple occasions.

Danny Carey is cerebral on a level that the vast majority of the population can't understand. Never seen a kinder, more unassuming guy in my life that has a more extreme complex understanding of his undertakings. He is the Isaac Newton of drumming.
And i say this very proud........"I was there"!!!
*looking at u like youre lying* ;)
Stfu!
U lucy fuck
U Lucy fuck
As you should! I would be proud of that Too(l). See what I did there!
Imagine listening to this shit in 96. Absolutely mindblowing
I did and was
It was about that time my friend lent me his Aenima CD and it took a few listens for it to sink in, but ever since I've been a Tool fan
I loved it. What a fuckin year 96 was
I've never listened until 2020 and it's also mindblowing
I heard them for the first time in2001, when I was 16. I was immediately hooked. After first few seconds of Schism.

It must mean alot to you, knowing they were somewhere out there in this crowd...Sorry for your loss
How the fuck isn't this the best song ever made by the best band in the history?
because they kinda stole it from King Crimson...... i tottaly agree tho... 46&2 is fukking amazing
Paul Sambrano Frame by frame is great 👍

Woooooorrrrrrd 😂 🎶 🎵 ⏹️
Underselling it, lol.
Maynard: ". . . you get the worst show of the tour."
[crowd cheers]
@az stuff i have watched this so much its perfect man.
"Worst" by Tool's standards is still a lot better than most music.
Funny thing about him saying that, is it was the first show of the tour....
Danny Cary is one of the best drummers of all time!!
Justin Lockert GOAT
Yes he is easily😀
This ain't an uncontroversial opinion. Water is wet. Danny Carey plays drums like the messiah of rhythm.
@@ADIDASects you mean it isn’t a controversial opinion?
I can't believe how I keep listening to this song again and again and I never get tired of hearing it. Danny is a total beast on the drums.
Same here bro. I can't stop hearing this Tool's song.
Tool will always be my favorite
Danny is fucking awesome!
Closest thing to Neal Peart I’ve ever seen.
He’s what pulled me in

You nailed it
Imagine how the 25+ listeners are just loving that tool is becoming their own...2 1/2 fucking decades of TOOL 🔧
And some goddamn way it sounds better as you get older, like you can hear everything that’s happening better. It’s fucking incredible.
nah personally i would consider it rock

Absolutely perfect performance 10/10 would time travel again
Maynard's voice will be even better for the rest time in 2020.
I’m listening to their muscle memory since my teenage years and they're STILL my favorite band.
+blues2oo . I was 16 when Undertow came out. Blew my fucking mind!
+musicisfree91 yea but this is an Aenima song..
+NP2BAM oh thanks for clearing that up for us B)
Well I'm 15
Danny nailed that drum solo
How can anyone not like this song?

I find it disrespectful that you chose the name Jimmy Hendrix.
Although Spicoli is a reach, he wasn't a conduit of music.
I totally agree!

I'm saying don't care about the way any of them move. I just like their music.
sad that he hangs in the back these days
5:18 - 5:45
If everyone approached their work like that, we'd have cured cancer and be living on Mars already.
They've already found a cure but there is no money in health. If people stay sick, big pharma will continue to make a killing.
oodoodanoo 5:18-5:45 ?
@@blackdog5186 look how amazing Danny is drumming
It's honestly hard to put into words how much Tool's music means to me. I love these four guys to death, they basically saved my life.

Tool, mars volta, smashing pumpkims, qotsa, and deftones. I'm addicted to all of these artists
Im french and I was only 1 when this video was taken, but i'm listening to this now, and all I have to say is that they're just AMAZING.
damn Maynard is killing it...sounds great!!
Danny Carrey is the drum MASTER. Maynard has some unique moves while he’s performing.
I love how Maynard just becomes "Tool" during their shows. Like he channels the music through his body as he sings. Absolute LEGEND! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The way MJK delivers this epic masterpiece gives me chills and the rest deliver perfectly
In Danny Carey, I trust.
Amen

That ladies and gentlemen, is the f*cking ultraheaviest outro in all the history of recorded music! Who's listening in 2020??! 😎🤘🤙 /GK

Danny is slamming on this
Amazing being in a crowd and getting this first up before it’s been heard live by anyone. Epic
Danny just goes as hard as ever... if not harder.
15 years later this song still gives me chills everytime I hear it.
whats so good about him is he sounds just the same in concert
History will make Tool one of the greatest, most creative bands of all time.
Tool is sooooo beyond this time musically speaking... perfection achieved. This performance shows why.
At the end of the video you can see Billy Howerdel, he used to work as Tool's guitar tech!
what??? this is awesome. it's definitely a tall bald guy, didnt know he used to be a guitar tech for them!
Maynard is a very under-rated vocalist. He sounds as good/better than the album. That's so very VERY rare.
Underrated? You must be kidding. He even won Grammy. If it means anything nowadays...
Absolutely stunning. Just. There are no words. So good.
Danny's drumming is incredible!!!
pomona for me was one of the best shows ever so raw so pure so goddamn awesome !!!
I told my PA to send me the best Take That performance she could find and she mistakenly sent me this...
She is now CEO of the company...

I'm a child of the 70's and always felt rock died about 1982. Then I belatedly discovered Tool. Fantastic band.
How belated?
Well how belated????
This was the first tune I heard by them, in 96, and was an instant convert from then on. I was 36 years old when my mind got thoroughly blown.
This song is one of the greatest drum performance's of all time. If you know, you know. If you don't, well to bad for you.
These men are so bad ass. I love how positive their music makes me feel.
how is this the worst performance? this is godly
