I fixed the bottom damper adjuster problem, by hard resin gluing the cap to the hex shaft. Worked well enough. I know the internals of these forks pretty well. You get what you pay for. These don't match up to a comparable Rockshock. But then the price is way lower. If you are riding really Janky trails with rock gardens, I wont depend on these to last long. An occasional step down or a jump wont hurt.
I did the same just with basic super glue. Been good since. I actually have a 2 year update video on my Raidon fork coming out in the next day or two in which I go over that and other things.

There not.. If yor worried about these forks not being able to take the ocassional stepdown or jump then you have been suckered bad..
The problem I have with the older epixon is that the rebound damper is a sealed cartridge. The damper over time starts getting harder and restricts travel! It is like it is in lockout mode. So I cut one damaged damper open. There is no gas in it but an oil like any other air fork. The oil gets all thick due to aluminum deposits from friction and heat. It leads to the damper seizing up. Suntour has to do something about this. Since replacing the damper is relatively expensive. I think there is a serviceable damper that is available now, so we change oil in it periodically.
Thanks for the info. Pretty sure the new Epixon forks have serviceable dampers. Raidon forks do not though, which is bad news for me but at least I’ll know what happening when it gets to that point.
I think the damper also ingests some grease/sludge (depending on how often you service your fork) from the lowers and gets overfilled. If you go on the "Raidon service parts" section of Suntour's website you'll find there is also the (older) Epixon damper, which should mean it's compatible with Raidon forks. That damper is not only fully serviceable, but also has a LORC option with rebound, lockout and LSC. pretty great.
Sorry the video is having issues. Pull the red cap off. Use needle nose pliers to pull out the straight Allen/hex key. Clean the cap and hex key then super glue the hex key into the slot on the cap.

Down to Ride MTB ya I’m thinking of just keeping my talon. Would you still recommend these forks the most in the 300 dollar range? The only other two I was looking at out the rockshox recon and the manitou markour but haven’t ridden an air fork before.
jason Falasco I currently have a Rockshox Recon on my Rift Zone. I think the Suntour Raidon and Epixon had just as good ride quality of not better. I wish I still had my old bike to compare head to head. But the Recon definitely has some stiction in the first range of motion meaning it’s not great at smoothing small bumps. However Rockshox is king so if you need it serviced by a local shop then everyone will be familiar with the Recon and be able to get parts easily. Ok that’s what I figured, one more question haha does your buddy still have his talon with the epixon because I might go with that fork and if so he had to buy the adapter for the tapered head tube right? I’ve never installed a fork before but doesn’t look to hard, I would have to do it myself since all bike shops are closed and I just wasn’t sure since my 18 talon 2 doesn’t have a tapered tube
jason Falasco the epixon was available with a straight steerer at that time. Not sure if it still is though but I think it is. In terms of installation, you’ll need a star nut, you’ll need to transfer over the crown race and you’ll need to cut down the steerer. Thanks for that detailed breakdown. So odd that they took the lower air fork and then made a 34mm stanchion version of it. You'd think they just would have given it a different name since it is so much different that the normal one.
I’ve never ridden a Judy. If the price is similar and the travel, axle and steerer tube all match what you need, I’d probably just go with the Rockshox. Easier for shops to service and get parts for.
@@downtoridemtb if comparing with epixon to the judy tk silver. por favor que alguno me diga cuál es la diferencia entre la epixon y la raidon ...ya que no encuentro vídeo y este q fue el único que encontré esta en ingles
Sorry if I missed it, but did your buddy increase the travel on the Epixon on his Talon 2? I have the same bike and just ordered the Epixon fork. Just wondering if the extra travel really messed with the bikes geometry.
He did not. I did on my old bike that was originally 100mm travel and it felt fine to me. Your results may vary. You might want to check Giant forums or Facebook groups. Also, I ran the pressure slightly lower so that it had a little more sag making it a little less that 20mm or real life difference.
My sr suntour epixon holds air fine but when I'm pumping it up with my cheap 120psi (not much compared to others) shock pump it starts leaking air until I remove the pump. When the pump is removed it's fine again, but this means I can only get about 60psi in it. Is this because of my cheap shock pump not being able to hold the pressure back
It sound to me like a leak from the shock pump or a bad seal where the pump connects to the valve. Check for any missing rubber grommets that might have been inside the “nozzle” of the shock pump. Or try another shock pump if you can. You could also try some soapy water to see where the air is escaping. It’ll make little bubbles.
Thanks for your info. I've been thinking about the epixon for a everywhere/commuter/ stealth don't steal me bike I log a lot of MILES on n it seems like it would work well. Thanks
Well the Epixon is a better model but it’s kind of like comparing apples and oranges. If you have a boost wheel with thru axle then you have to get the boost spacing fork.
Is the Epixon straight steerer? I have a Giant Talon 2 as well and was interested in the replacement. Was it a direct drop in or did you need to purchase anything else to make it fit? thanks,
The Epixon has a straight steerer. You’ll need a starfangled nut. You’ll also have to cut the steerer tube down to the length needed for your bike and transfer over the crown race. If you’re not comfortable doing all that, any decent bike shop could do it for probably pretty cheap.
Can't make my mind up between Raidon 100mm 15mm quick release versus Epixon OEM 120mm with black stanchions with 9mm q.release. so really it's 15mm qr versus black stanchions
I HATE PENTAGRAMS you can get adaptor kits for a 9mm to 15mm or vice versa wheel so just pick whichever fork you prefer as 15mm is stiffer but the difference is minimal.
There are a lot of “gray market” sellers that sell on eBay etc for less that SR Suntour US sells their own product. Seems sketchy to me and I wouldn’t trust anything that isn’t from SR Suntour directly or an authorized reseller.
Nah I doubt that they’re fake then. Sure it’s an apples to apples comparison? Axles, steerer tube and stanchions - I think they’re was a Raidon with bigger stanchions at some point. Clearance item?
Feels like there are incremental adjustments in between. The closer you get to locked out the “firmer” it gets. So if completely locked is one direction, I want it to be able to go to fully open in the other direction.
Yeah it’s hard to say what the real limitations are. I’m perfectly comfortable with my Raidon on trails around here but I’m pretty sure my skill limitations are reached before anything else.
@@downtoridemtb yeah my bike has a straight steerer so I can either go with an epixon or like the 2 other straight steerer 27.5 air forks, or I could get a cane creek tapered head tube adapter and get a nicer probably used tapered fork
I think about 2.4” is all you could get on it safely. They make a boost version of the Raidon which can take a bigger tire though. Not so for the Epixon as far as I can tell.
erick Lozada castillo not a bad choice at all. My new bike that is currently on order comes with a Recon. So I’ll be interested to see how it compares.
Yes up to 140mm unless they have changed something in the last couple years. Look up a video by Budget Friendly Biking where he changes the travel on his Epixon. Same process.
It was like that before increasing travel to 120mm and has stayed that way after too. It’s just the cap that spins though once it gets to that point of no return.
@@downtoridemtb I thought that the "not being long enough" got worse and the rebound control was less responsive overall after I increased travel on my Epixon. Of course, I hadn't had it apart prior to that since I did the increase at the time of the first service. Thanks for sharing your experiences with these largely-ignored forks. I think mine was $200 well spent! ;)
I plan on getting a Epixon for my 9 year old (85lb rider). Will this work well for this weight? The bike is a GT Stomper 24" so I will be running the 26" fork at 80mm vs. the stock 24" fork at 100mm (but the crappy OEM coil fork only moves 1") so the the Geo should not change much.
To be honest, I’m not sure. I had seen a video from Toogy Howser MTB where he had to replace some internals of an air fork for his girlfriend because at lower pressure, since she was light, the fork didn’t extend fully. I think it was an SR Shntour fork. Do a little digging on his channel because he showed the whole process. The video was from at least 6 months ago or more.
@@downtoridemtb I won't say they'd work totally fine but what engineer relies on the switch to hit the steerer crown as a limit for the compression setting? Things like that make me feel a little weird using one of these. But I've ridden an Aion before and it is an absolutely fine working fork. I would recommend it to anyone who's budget is limited. But still a Yari or respective Lyric or a Fox 36 would do a better job.
@@downtoridemtb absolutely. I service my forks myself and getting all the needed information to do that is a lot easier for Fox and RS, because there are so many videos about that. Especially the guys from @GMBNTech got some great videos making that hole process a lot easier.
OMG guys are you serious? Cut the lockout lever instead of set the rebound switch position right? It has to move about max(!!) quarter turn between fully open and fully closed position... and the rebound knob problem caused by simply the wrong assembling.
Part 1 of your comment may be right but it’s an odd design if so. Why would the dial turn more than the 1/4 turn needed? For the rebound, this is 100% a design flaw by SR Suntour. Between this video and one other I did, many people have commented saying that had the exact same problem.
@@downtoridemtb Mine works perfectly. Because you have to correctly reassembly. If you dont, the rebound doesnt work well. Believe me, mine had the same problem after the first service I did on it. Then I realized that was my fault, not the design. Reassembled the right way and the knob works flawless again. (Raidon 16)
@@downtoridemtb English is not my strong side so sorry for my weird sentences. :) The answer is in the end of this comment but I write the whole reassembly procedure of the knob for the viewers if they are interested about it. Before tighten the bigger bolt, make sure you set the rebound with an allen key about halfway in its "travel", or at least two full rotations from the full opened state, towards to the close direction. (If you tighten the big bolt when the rebound is fully opened, you cant turn the red knob either direction and cause to strip its plastic 4mm socket) Then put back the little hex shaped rod into the red knob, but dont push it fully towards the end, leave 3-4mm free in the knob. Then put back carefully the knob in its place. The little rod should move up and down with the inner bolt together when you set the rebound. Thats why doesnt seems long enough for the first sight. Its pretty easy and straightfoward, but can looks as a design flaw for the first time. You can grease the O-ring and the rod itself to make it slick and more waterproof.. If you want to make some DIY work, cut an unused allen key to slightly longer than the factroy one and make a video about it. If it works, would be a great hack video, but reassembling the right way is still much more easy :) Cheers guys
I think I may have read about some cross compatibility but I can’t say for sure. I contacted their is based support a couple times and they were always very helpful. See what they say.
Oh God what an awfull pair of products. And Suntour sugars itself of being the only brand that provides good entry level forks as well as high end ones. I have a Durolux and it performs quite well but, then again, it sits on their higher end level of products. Honestly, if their entry level ones are that cheaply build they should simply stop making them.
Currently 2.6 up front an 2.4 rear but that is on a different bike. All I ever ran on that bike was 2.25 but that was because my rims were narrow. 2.4 should be fine.

I’ve never ridden a Judy. If the price is similar and the travel, axle and steerer tube all match what you need, I’d probably just go with the Rockshox. Easier for shops to service and get parts for.
@@downtoridemtb if comparing with epixon to the judy tk silver. Epixon has remote and manual options, 32mm stanchions over 30mm judy, of course the travel adjustability up to 120mm, and they are only like 180 to 200ish shipped. At best the judy gold is the closest at 350 bucks and still may be slightly better or under with a heftier price tag and I think the stanchions are still 30
My Raidon has preload on the left and lockout on the right i have seen that there is also air version, coil and oil version is this true i don't know what is mine it's very light
I didn’t know there was a coil version. Yours must be though if there is no air valve.

by the way, ahh what do you prefer epixon, raidon, xcr boost or axon 32mm in your own opinion only. couse I'm planning to upgrade but, it's. Difficult to choose.
I’ve only ridden the Epixon and Raidon. I’d spend the little bit extra for the Epixon or even better as long as you know it’s a bike you’re going to keep for a while. Hope that helps.
@@downtoridemtb ahh i didn't get your point, ahhh so you mean epixon is good interms of quality lifespan?
Thank you for your feedback
Epixon is good. But basically get the best one you can if you plan on keeping the bike and are really into riding.
por favor que alguno me diga cuál es la diferencia entre la epixon y la raidon ...ya que no encuentro vídeo y este q fue el único que encontré esta en ingles

weight advantage and serviceability go to the epixon
I just bought a 27.5 epixon today and I'm still quite new about the.set up. How much air do you need to put on the fork? Do you base it on the weight?
Base it on weight for a rough estimate, then measure sag. There are lots of videos on RUclips about measuring sag.
I cant belive that problem whit this knobe i still not fixed, a just bought raidon and have the same issue.
It’s crazy! I contacted them way back then about it.
HELLO IM DWELLING OVER EPIXON, RAIDON AND AXON 32 WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET?
Get the Axon if you can afford it. But whichever you get, make sure it matches your axle type / spacing and your steerer tube.
@@downtoridemtb now idk which one to get manitou machete or axon 32?
That I can’t say, never ridden the manitou.
@@downtoridemtb thanks!
My epixon lock out stops at a quarter turn. it stops turning before the cap touches anything.
You might want to reposition the top cap because you may not ever be getting to fully open.
@@downtoridemtb the top caps stops at the 3 o'clock position it doesn't get touch anything when it stops
@@downtoridemtb good idea thanks very much
Glad to help!
Thanks for your info. I've been thinking about the epixon for a everywhere/commuter/ stealth don't steal me bike I log a lot of MILES on n it seems like it would work well. Thanks
does the 29" raidon have adjustable travel?
While I can’t say for sure, it probably does. I don’t know why it wouldn’t.
I think it only goes to 120mm while the Epixon has 120,130,and 140mm of travel
@@nikthepunisher6255 i think Suntour site says it has only 80 and 100mm. When I do a lower legs service I will check it out
who is better raidon 32 boost 2021 or epixon 2021???
@@downtoridemtb Thanks for the heads up.
Glad to help!
The sticker doesnt say its not intended for mountainbiking. just not gravity riding
can you demo how to adjust the travel of epixon fork., thank you.
I could but this guy already did and did a good job too:
ruclips.net/video/T1WAiS6lwpQ/видео.html
I notice santour forks have small wheel clearance... It's like less than an inch no?
Good question. It seemed like plenty to me but I only had 2.25” tires on it.
What's the recommended air pressure?
It depends on your weight. A good starting point in psi is your weight in kg.
Can't make my mind up between Raidon 100mm 15mm quick release versus Epixon OEM 120mm with black stanchions with 9mm q.release. so really it's 15mm qr versus black stanchions
Well the axle type you need will be determined by your wheels. Unless you plan on getting new wheels too.
I HATE PENTAGRAMS you can get adaptor kits for a 9mm to 15mm or vice versa wheel so just pick whichever fork you prefer as 15mm is stiffer but the difference is minimal.
Question: now, Epixon forks are cheaper than Raidon forks. How come?
There are a lot of “gray market” sellers that sell on eBay etc for less that SR Suntour US sells their own product. Seems sketchy to me and I wouldn’t trust anything that isn’t from SR Suntour directly or an authorized reseller.
Down to Ride MTB They are sold through reputable US based bicycle-oriented ebayer. Are u saying they could still be fake?
Nah I doubt that they’re fake then. Sure it’s an apples to apples comparison? Axles, steerer tube and stanchions - I think they’re was a Raidon with bigger stanchions at some point. Clearance item?
How do you adjust the raidon forpre travel please?
Look up a channel called “budget friendly biking” he has a video where he does it on an Epixon. Process is the same.
Why are you spinning the lockout knob more? It's not an adjustment, it's either locked or it's not.
Feels like there are incremental adjustments in between. The closer you get to locked out the “firmer” it gets. So if completely locked is one direction, I want it to be able to go to fully open in the other direction.
what upgrade program ? is this U.S. thing ?
Yes through the SR Suntour US website
i haven't yet seen a video on these forks from a trail riding perspective, only xc and stuff but i really want to push my epixon if i get one
Might be better off with the cane creek adapter. That way at least you know your fork will be usable when you eventually get a new bike or new frame.
@@downtoridemtb yeah I'll probably go with that
I have raidon fork and stanchion high is 125mm, is my fork travel 120mm or 100mm ?
Thanks before
I’d guess 120. You could let some air out and see where it bottoms out, then subtract what is left after bottoming out.
@@downtoridemtb i'll try that
And what's big different between raidon and epixon ?
Really just the weight. Performance is so similar I don’t think you’d notice a difference.
@@downtoridemtb thank you for your information, i think no need upgrade from raidon to epixon if performance is so similar
I agree. If you’re going to upgrade I’d say look at something that is a bigger upgrade. Or just stick with the Raidon.
This looks great but at 32sec the video completely stops working. Other videos are playing fine.
Looks like some people are having trouble with this video on the RUclips mobile app. Try a desktop computer.
do both these shocks come with sag % markings and o- ring indicator.
Neither do. I used a zip tie and a ruler.
No I put a sag ring on mine when I dropped off the lowers for service it’s worth doing
Could I put either of these forks on a 27.5+ tire? (2.8in width)
I think about 2.4” is all you could get on it safely. They make a boost version of the Raidon which can take a bigger tire though. Not so for the Epixon as far as I can tell.
Can glue the key to the knob? Would that help?
I actually did that recently and it has been working fine since
@@downtoridemtb nice,I'll do that myself thanks.

Money being no object - the Epixon is better. Worth the extra $90? Only you can decide that.

Yes up to 140mm unless they have changed something in the last couple years. Look up a video by Budget Friendly Biking where he changes the travel on his Epixon. Same process.

What dropper did your buddy go with on his talon 2? I want to get one soon for my talon 3
Brand X Ascend. Check the comments in my Giant Talon video for more details.
Rebound keeps spinning AFTER increasing travel... right?
It was like that before increasing travel to 120mm and has stayed that way after too. It’s just the cap that spins though once it gets to that point of no return.
@@downtoridemtb I thought that the "not being long enough" got worse and the rebound control was less responsive overall after I increased travel on my Epixon. Of course, I hadn't had it apart prior to that since I did the increase at the time of the first service. Thanks for sharing your experiences with these largely-ignored forks. I think mine was $200 well spent! ;)
Interesting. Glad to do it, thanks for watching.
@@downtoridemtb is epixon adjustable up to 140mm travel?
It should be. My Raidon was definitely.
Nice Vid but it just convinced me to not buy Suntour weither its a Raidon or Epixon or even an Aion xD
Lol. Well whatever works for you. I’d ride another Raidon or an Epixon.
Fair points. Plus for parts, service, etc it is better two stick with the big 2 fork companies.

(Raidon 16)
What is the correct way? Mine was not working from brand new.
Right on, thanks for giving all the details on that!
the Raidon is not servisable so it is disposable?

Oh God what an awfull pair of products. And Suntour sugars itself of being the only brand that provides good entry level forks as well as high end ones. I have a Durolux and it performs quite well but, then again, it sits on their higher end level of products.
