How To Enable "Microsoft has blocked macros from running untrusted source" Setting

Microsoft Office has rolled out a new security check to disable on default when you download a macro enabled file from a 3rd party source. In this tutorial, I will share the steps how to re-enable macro settings for those files.

If you don't see the unblock option, it is most likely OneDrive is your default folder system. In that case, you will need to shut down OneDrive first.

Macros are a big security risk. Macros are a powerful tool that can allow arbitrary system access particularly if you run excel as a root user.
This is definitely a worthwhile thing to add severe protections around

If the file is on onedrive or other cloud it does not show the security option in the proporties. You have to drag it to a folder on your computer first and after unblocking you can put it back.

This does not work when you are not the main host of the onedrive location. For example try to share the file the client can not unblock because the option does not exist for clients...

Just in case anyone needs it, came across a gpedit (run as admin) solution for all files:
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager
Change the Do not preserve zone information in file attachments setting to Enabled.
Save and exit.

then you are not enabling it by admin account , you must have logged in by guest or employer account

I have no security checkbox on the file. I'm downloading the file from Sharepoint using the "Open in Desktop App" setting. I have to use the file in this way because more than one person may use the file at a time. If I save the file locally on my desktop it opens with no macro issues. I can't open it that way though for the prior mentioned reasons.
