I really like hearing your thought process in your work. I'm currently self-studying for the CPC and I could watch you all day! Also love the unintentional typing ASMR 😂❤

I actually like to see people do everyday things. I feel so weird saying that, but it's true😊. I like a mix, though. I wouldn't watch too many days in the life of medical coder. I like a little variety from my content creator.
For example, I don't subscribe to people who do just hairstyles, I'll usually visit for a hairstyle inspiration and then off to something else. I get bored of the same thing for every video.

Just the aesthetics of every day life of a coder…. The typing…. Listening to work related things 😂the books and highlights in books! Desk set up I also like when content creators show grocery hauls coffee runs night time routines …. I guess it’s refreshing knowing that others have the same thing going on as me😂❤

Hello Shamyra, what I like most about this type of content is your work ethic. As a medical coder working from home, it helps me understand better as well as having my coding manuals at hand as well as other coding materials as well. You are a wonderful teacher, and I can tell you love what you do. I do not believe that this is not boring nor repetitive. I also have my bibles regarding my daily tasks. I only work denials within my practice. From OB Gyn, Neurosurgeries, E/Ms., etc. So, my hand is in all specialties. The only thing that I have difficulties with is OB Gynecology coding and understanding the concept. I really enjoy watching your concept. I am tuning in from Baltimore. So, I am down the road from you.

I love that you show us what a coder actually does! I graduated with an online college certificate degree in medical coding. Being that it was online I had no clue of what a coder’s day to day worklife involves! My questions were…”do we choose the codes from procedure description ourselves? Are we just verifying what dr chose? Do we call or send email to physicians when we have a question? If so, what is required turn around time on that? etc. Clueless! I did obtain my CPC-A a couple of months ago and finally got a possible job thru a recruiter with a mass hiring for risk adjustment coder…do you have any thoughts on that position? Thanks so much

Hi Shamyra, how do you specialized in a specialty? If you can probably make a video about that one day explaining or if you don’t mind answering. I am a medical coding student and I will be done by Spring of 2024 I am doing a two year (4 semesters) program through my local college and I am loving this career path, I am still a CNA in which I work in the ED of my local hospital 😊but I am doing a change to my career!

Hi Shamyra, I just want to say great video! Thank you for sharing this video with us, I appreciate you! The videos that you have shared have been very helpful with great info and I just want to say don’t give up. Maybe just go back to the drawing board and take a different approach, You are here to educate others and help others who are going to sit for their cpc exam or who would like to do this OBGYN specialty. Saying this I do understand that if it does not make you happy find what does. Have a Great Day.

Hey! I would watch procedures being performed on RUclips such as hysterectomies, cystectomies, sterilizations/salpingectomies, oophorectomies, myomectomies, etc. Whatever procedures you see in the female genital system section that have 90 day global periods - I watch to see how it’s done, so when reading an op note it all makes sense. Also, if you have the funds I’d get a OB/GYN a coding companion book. These have the full description of all OB/GYN procedures (unfortunately this book can’t be used on exam).

It really all depends on the person tbh. Some people HATE coding and would rather do something else in Administration (Medical) within the field. And others (like me) LOVE coding and love reading and interpreting / finding out the answers. Just do your research and see what best fits your wants, needs etc.
