Hi Mr darren. Camden is one of my favourite places I'm a North londoner from wood green. Spent so much time there as a teenager in the 80s early 90s. Would go shopping there and go back there at night and go clubbing at camden palace ....it's called ko ko nightclub/music venue now. Amazing times .still love going to camden ....food looks good 👍 mr darren xx

£11.80 for a portion of chips with a cheesy topping! Organic potatoes don't cost anything. I get really annoyed with vendors that set up stalls and don't have the prices listed, then when you bowl up expecting a certain price point the actual amount you pay is much higher. This is the worst part of the cost of living crisis, some restauranteurs and food vendors are definitely taking advantage of the situation. The margin on each of those portion of chips will comfortably be 250-300%.
@@JohnnyMotel99 I doubt it costs more than £100-£150 pw all in for a stall at Camden Market Thats only 10-15 portions of chips to break even. Nice work if you can get it. These stalls will easily turnover £1k in a day.

Then there is wages, energy costs and of course those VERY expensive organic spuds! Still, I'd imagine the competition for customers is high and a huge bowl of chips is not everyone's idea of a great meal. Margins could be 50-60%??? Also don't forget that the market maybe open 7 days, but the customers come mainly at the weekend.

Funky chips at a funky price Darren, would be wasted on me if I could afford them as I only have tomato sauce on mine. I bet some people spend a lot on food/drink with all the card tapping without realising at a later date. 😁
Thanks Darren, for the walk around, haven't been to London in about 40 years. However, come on....the only things that belong on chips are salt and vinegar, depending what you get with them like a pie then perhaps gravy. Don't get the difference between grated cheese and melting cheese. Unless, of course, they just grate cheese on top and don't put it under a grill.
Oh how I love Camden.It's one of me and my fiencee's favourite parts of London and I could just stay there all day because I love it that much.I've eaten at funky chips and I just think they are brilliant...in fact they are so off the charts it hurts. I rate the chips from funky chips 10+ out of 10.
My old stomping ground for a Friday night rave up. I used to be at Camden Palace, (now Koko), most Fridays back in the late 90s early 00s for “Peach Ravers”. Then I’d be over to Camden Market next day for some wicked takeout food. Yes that certainly looks all the world Camden Market is known for DJ. Heaven on earth great place.

Here in New Jersey they have a thing called Disco fries, lots of places have them especially the diners. Basically fries gravy and cheese. Very popular unfortunately it’s nearly always frozen fries. Not big on real chips here.
I remember when we used to go to church ln Camden town Then it was full of Cyprusits when it was know as little Nicocea By the way is the Greek church still there

top place Camden, saw Clash at Dingwalls in the 70s....its changed a bit since then, still looks decent, some great pubs there.

Wow, £12 for a large fish & chips with peas and curry sauce is considered extortion here in the Midlands. Camden is great place to visit though 👍🏽
