@@mr.luckyracing7112 If you got enough oomft one can lift that 5 spd with another set of hands and get it in there. Used to do thart with muncies all the time. my 6 spd is heavy pig almot dropped it on my head a few times.
@@RoyFortheWin We had a manual center console and marked it out then took the plate that the shift sits in and used it as a template to make the correct cut
I drove with both automatic an a stick on a 3rd gen and I much prefer the five speed. Both 305 cars just TBI. 5-speed way more fun. They just didn't have the power to rip very well with the auto. Same thing with the foxes that aod in those were terrible! Felt like it was taking off in 2nd gear.

i am about to do the same thing with my 73 pinto .. it has a 4.3 with turbo 350 .. i have a trans from a v8 camaro with flywheel and everything ,, are the flywheels the same size and same tooth count ,,
Sounds like a fun conversion that little pinto will rip with that 4.3. From an old guy (I guess.56) that was around when guy were trying to stuff sbf in them
Ah, I'm asking as I'm about to attempt this this weekend in a high school carpark. I'm in the UK too so im hoping I have all the parts. Can I asked what you did for the connections for the clutch pedal and reverse light? or the electrical connections in general ?@@mr.luckyracing7112
@@danpeake139 So this helped out a bunch but i had another rolling camaro that use to be a manual. I took the pedal assembly and master cylinder off it and it bolts right up to the other car. Other then that cut a hole in the center and your transmission just bolt right in!

@@mr.luckyracing7112what about all the switches etc on an auto..Some of that stuff u dont need with a 5 speed..Not to mention shifter cable, trans lines to rad, etc..Did u just leave all that stuff because your vid didnt show u removing anything or how to install the pedals ..Actually it wasnt much use to me...There are a lot of other things u have to do besides cut a hole and bolt it up..If it took u all winter to swap it..I feel for you...

Wires switches etc.This vid was absolutely useless... Didnt explain nothing about the swap...

@@BDOML9101 Listing the PN of the slave, fw clutch etc would help a lot of guys out. did this for yrs online as I did my T56 conversion around 99 and nobody made parts to do it

Totally agree always prefer 5 speed over an auto!
AOD in the stangs were way worse remember them brand new
All the auto TPIcars needed was a 2600 stall and 3.45 gears they would smoke em real easy

I went from a five speed to an automatic, and was the worst thing ever for the car.
I’ve always been a manual guy especially when it comes to hot rods!
Now did the transmission lines from the automatic fit directly to the 5 speed ?
So we had a parts car that we got the transmission and eveything from. Had to use the lines as well!
Lines? 5 spds dont use oil coolersjust plug them off

I don't think the brake master cylinder is different but you do have to install a slave cylinder not a master cylinder...
