- I was so nervous. My first time playing in front of a crowd in almost 15 years. But my now wife said she wanted me to do this because she is incredible, and the band was more than happy to oblige.

That was pretty good. I was surprised.
It was not correct but it was very good.
A couple of misses and some artistic license, but that dude didn’t struggle a bit. Very skilled guy.
Give the dude a break, he did well, with the adrenaline and probably some drinking he did well, who hasn't overshot a couple licks here and there, even the best aren't always perfect...well maybe JB, 😂

Not even other guitar greats have nailed eruption truly note for note , it's always always always missing something that the original had.
You have to believe there are thousands of older guys who spent hours in their parent’s basements as teenagers learning to play guitar or bass or drums and then careers and families came along and the instruments became dust collectors in the closet. This guy obviously found a way to keep the music alive and not waste his talent and the hard work it takes to develop it.
I say the same thing! I cannot stand when someone calls someone the best guitar player. It should say the best guitar player "I've" ever heard.

Sounds like there were a few drinks before this performance as there would be at your wedding haha. But I can tell you've played that flawlessly before. So many details of EVH's live performance of this song you got right. You even captured his precision and speed. You should be in a VH tribute my friend. Few can play at that level.
