    This is a brilliant wee pattern, especially for grayling. Thanks pal for devising such an easy to tie pattern that is so effective.

    I've been checking out your videos and a lot of your patterns have brought me a lot of success on the streams here in West Virginia. I didn't have any white antron so I tied this one with a yellow antron and caught several browns last weekend. Thanks for a simple tie that yields great success.

    Damn! I had so many problems with this kind of flies! Was trying bodystretch, even condoms :)
    Now my problem is solved! I never thought it's so easy! And the trick with scalpel - simple and effective. Great tutorial!
    Thank You, sir!

    Well, that's the FIRST time I ever saw Davie catch the end of the hook while wrapping. I do it all the time, nice to know he's actually human and not a computer generated image or such. His work is generally so perfect, one becomes suspicious as to whether or not he's actually a perfectly programmed android or whatever.

    Hello Davie, your talents at the vise are first rate!!!!!! I am interested in tying the pink bug. I understand bug bond was used on the body before cutting legs. What was the "varnish" you used at the very end of the tie video? I ask because the head cement I have been using makes the marker colors bleed all over the place. Thanks for the help and keep the lessons coming! Mike. in Michigan USA

    How would you fish this kind of fly davie for rivers and stillwater thanks
    Jay

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 года назад

      Hi Jay,
      I use it on the river mostly for Grayling though it will catch on the lochs..I fish them as I would most nymphs in the river by fishing them upstream allowing them to sink and drift naturally with the current..

    hi davie , justt wanting to ask what would be a good vice for starting out tying , love the videos thanks

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  10 лет назад

      Hi neilards,
      A good starter vise would be this one www.amazon.co.uk/Lureflash-RRV-ROTATABLE-REGENT-VICE/dp/B00359891U, it's a side leaver and very easy to use and holds the hook very well. Other makes but more expensive are the Dyna-King, Regal, Norvise, Snowbee Waldron, HMH, Apex and Jvise this is a small selection but are all worth a look at..Please let me know what you think..

      ***** i had been looking at this one thanks davie will get this one, my dad used to spend his winter evenings tying his own flies in the roof space for the start of the trout season in march here in northern ireland, watching your videos brought a lot of good memories back to me, and has inspired me to get my own vice and start tying my own flies, thanks again for your videos best explained and best tying videos i have come across on the net,

      ***** thanks davie, you have been great help with the vice, and dont want to be a pest on here to you either , but would like to ask just one more thing from you, i was looking on Glasgow Angling Centre web page and as a complete novice dont know what capes would be good to have to start out, , if you could help with that please thanks neil

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  10 лет назад

      Hi Neil,
      There's many capes that you could buy depending on the flies you want to tye, but if I was just starting to tye then Chinese or Indian hen and cock capes would help tye both dries and wets as these are the easiest and best flies to tye for trout and even some salmon flies..Here's some links to the natural coloured and dyed capes..

    Hi Davie where would you use this bug,lakes or river and when? would it be suitable for salmon or just trout.Keep up the tying you've got to be the best on here. Regards.J.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  10 лет назад

      Hi Johnmnt madgin,
      I use it for Grayling mostly on the river, it's one of those flies I use when fishing is a bit slow and when fish go quite as for some reason it's seems to take some good fish so I always keep a few in the box for this..I have used it on a trout fishery for rainbows and again it can take a few fish...

    Hi Davie I'm sure you have had this question asked many times but I can't seem to find it in your many comments. So Ive recently got into tying my own fly's and bought a lot of my gear from ebay. After spending £30 on a vice it turned up and the quality is appalling. Im working with a low budget but don't want to make the same mistake again. Could you advise a brand or model of vice that is of decent enough standard but not to expensive.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  9 лет назад

      Hi Ben Ridings,
      It's probably one of the most asked questions so I hope I can help you in some way to make up for the vice you bought...I've attached link to a side leaver vice which is a great vice for the price and very easy to use, it's a cheaper version of the one I use at the moment and will last you a long time...
