Best video I've seen on these yet, thanks for sharing. Picked them up yesterday and really feel like people are sleeping on these as they are pretty impressive! I ended up with the cheapest version, shiny black and g-15 lenses, but really wanted the transition lenses. Finally found the version with transition but really think I'm just going to get some replacement transition lenses so I can swap as I want and save some cash.
Thank you James! I've been quite impressed myself because I thought it would be a bit gimmicky, but I was wrong. Definitely going to be using these for some B-roll shots of some of my reviews and even driving videos, which make POV filming so much easier. Hope you enjoy your transition versions!
Nice review...well done. As an owner of these glasses, my biggest wish list item for the glasses are as follows: 1) Ability to shoot in landscape mode. Hoping this could be done with software update??? 2) Greater than 60 second video without requiring livestreaming; 3) Personally for me, I would like a smaller version of the frame. For those with smaller/narrower faces like myself these can look kind of clownishly large when you have clear lenses as the frames are a bit thicker than normal Rayban frames. Today the frame sizes are Large and X-large. Where is my Medium/Small size? Tip. If you don't plan to purchase prescription lenses and you want to use these glasses for more than sunglasses, I strongly suggest you get the transition lenses. With the transition lenses you can use them indoors or outdoors and with the Transition lenses they are $379. Cheers.

Talking about wearing to the grocery store... I'm wondering if they might be good for someone that is shopping for say someone disabled, unable to go themselves, where the person shopping can scan rhe shelves... allowing the other person see what is available, giving them the ability to do some "shopping" & selecting items for themselves. 😊❤

I bought these with the Polarized lenses, and they are everything you reported. However, my biggest disappointment is the sound quality (sounds more like a transistor radio) and the phone mic performance. When using on a call the other person had a difficult time hearing me. These are definitely more of a luxury item than a necessity. I'm returning mine and exchanging them with the Transitions lenses so I can use them indoors without looking like "that guy" who wears sunglasses indoors. Thx for your video.

Be aware there is a very bad flaw right now with these. Inside the nose bridge is the mic used for phone calls. This mic for a large amount of people gets covered by your nose, thus preventing you from using them for this purpose. Meta is aware and working on a resolution but unless it's turning on the other mics I don't see how you could fix this.
I’m not saying your information is wrong or false, I just want to say I’ve seen 5 people review this on RUclips so far, starting with MKBHD, and haven’t heard anyway even remotely say the mics were bad or in a bad position etc

I have been on the verge of throwing the switch on these just for the camera, but as a long-term Echo Frames user I would want to have access to the Alexa Echosystem, so to speak. Arming security, controlling lights, sending text messages... can the Meta glasses act as a transparent audio pipe to the Alexa app with a wake word, or are they carving out separate but overlapping niches? Very excited about having audio interface to GPT, though... the Alexa plug-ins for that have been terrible so far.

Althogh this gadget is great, meta failed to make it work with other apps like twitch and RUclips for streaming. Great questions and glad you liked my video! To answer your questions: - Yes I've used the glasses with my main phone calls, whatsapp is not required. It's optional. - Yes you can playback audio from ANY app. It's a Bluetooth speaker so once connected to Bluetooth, it will play audio from anything on your phone. - Nope, the light doesn't bother me at all that's facing me. You don't notice it much, but even if it does, in the settings, there's an option to reduce the light brightness so you can make it very dim - yep, Meta AI works very well. I've only tried basic commands like asking what the weather is tomorrow or sending a message to someone from my phone and it worked well. Hope that all helps!

Only 60 seconds intermittently recording time for 32Gb of storage, that's the same amount of time on the previous generation of the RayBan Stories smart glasses. Then What's the point of upgrading to the Meta ones....
Great question. Im not 100% sure if the optometrists will support replacing this lenses only because they have a higher risk of damaging internal circuits/cameras when replacing them, and they might refuse because these are not simple glasses that they can unscrew open to replace. Although for the Meta AI, it works very well. Asking it commands is always responsive.
Why does it even record in portrait orientation? It should be landscape and FOV is very limited. It needs a wider angle lens. I do like the image stabilization.
Its such a shame they don't have landscape recording. They made it Portrait because they're aiming for IG/FB streamers/posters with these glasses, rather than videographers.

Smartphones got that ‘smart-‘ in the beginning of the word when they’ve elevated from main feature of calling (although it was already a pager as well) as it got extra computation capabilities. Here’s literally just a head mounted glass-shaped camera and speakers/headphones.

Great review. Video stabilisation looks very good but video resolution is below standard. The omission of the 4K camera by Meta was idiotic. 4K cameras have been in mobile devices since 2014, and this is the second generation of Ray-Ban smart glasses, for God's sake. Even if they opted for 1080p, they could have at least offered the option of recording in 60fps which would have ensured super smooth videos. I watched another RUclips review earlier that showed the live streaming picture quality, and it was absolutely terrible, suffering severely from image degradation. What also is huge omission is the ability to record in landscape mode. Imagine 4K recording in landscape mode - for vlogging purposes. Would have been brilliant.
I 100% agree with this, and one of the cons I forgot to mention in the video was the ability to record landscape. They've tailored this specifically for IG/FB live streamers to shoot in a portrait 4:3 aspect ratio, and it's not the greatest. I would have thought they had the technology to build a 4k camera in smart glasses in 2023, but nope 🤷🏻♂️

The Rayban integration is top notch. The case is great adaption of the classic rayban case. I thought these would have some AR features. The fact it ties you into Meta only is too bad. Just think what Apple will do in a few years.

The speaker test, what microphone are you using? Even at 50% we could hear the music so I am guessing it’s a pretty sensitive microphone you are using.
You can use it on its own without instagram and Facebook. You just need to download the Meta View app to transfer videos from the glasses to your phone, then upload to your laptop 🙂
Quick question. 1. Does this work with discord app in terms of camera sharing. 2. Does it connect to a computer if so, how is the camera function there as well? Is it like a camera in windows or its not detected as one? Overall great video and very detailed in explaination the features.
Well, here comes the rub wore them today to the Indian Wells tennis tournament within two minutes temperature too hot to use video. How about that I could take photos but I couldn't take video during the peak hours of between 11 and 2 PM.
Hi, just some feedback. It’s a good review, and it’s good that you showed spec overlays and you did audio and mic tests along with videos, but one thing that every single reviewer is fumbling over is that gloss over the size. These glasses come in 2 sizes and no one mentions as a heads up, the size they have.
Just won a pair - pretty amazing - they also translated whatever I was looking at (English/Italian/Spanish/French/German) - was able to answer a math problem I wrote down - was able to answer a multiple choice question - hear/respond to txt msgs - make/receive calls - listen to all music apps since is basically a BT headset as well - v6 update now allows 3min vids 😎
They only work in limited countries , these are not meant for a traveller. Just bought them in India and can't use them . Posting here so everyone knows ..

Low light sucks. Anti shake isn't that good- you have to pan your head REALLY slowly as if it was the camera

Update fixed it they use all mics now instead of only one

It does only 60 sec clips and only 4:3 ratio....no 16:9 unfortunately.
The limit of maximum 60 seconds of video at a time, made me turn them back the very next day. I had very high expectations I guess.

yes for prescription lens. i did order mine last 21 Oct 23
4 hours of active use - so if you listen to music and watch videos constantly then from 100% battery, it will last 4 hours till it gets to 0%.

No - these aren't VR glasses, so you can't see anything via the lens on the glasses, only your phone.

@@JohnnyMcMillan Yh to be used with some other devices … plus these easily break … plus there should be a choice for people that do have it or not … plus when I got my first iPhone over a year ago I had shit no charge for that phone I had to get it myself… if you don’t want it that’s a personal need, but there should be a choice of getting on without or with a cable/charging brick. Simple no argument in here, choice has simply been taken away for a stupid reason … plus another thing is that a lot of devices now have wireless charging and many people for this reason might not have that cable at all …

The Rayban integration is top notch. The case is great adaption of the classic rayban case. I thought these would have some AR features. The fact it ties you into Meta only is too bad. Just think what Apple will do in a few years.
Apple are staying away, because they remember what happened to Glass. Designer frames alter that not at all.

The speaker test, what microphone are you using? Even at 50% we could hear the music so I am guessing it’s a pretty sensitive microphone you are using.
Yes very sensitive tbh. It's the Senheisser MKE-600.
This might be a dumb question but do I need to have Facebook or Instagram to use this or can I shoot video and upload to my laptop?
You can use it on its own without instagram and Facebook. You just need to download the Meta View app to transfer videos from the glasses to your phone, then upload to your laptop 🙂

1. Does this work with discord app in terms of camera sharing.
2. Does it connect to a computer if so, how is the camera function there as well? Is it like a camera in windows or its not detected as one?

Well, here comes the rub wore them today to the Indian Wells tennis tournament within two minutes temperature too hot to use video. How about that I could take photos but I couldn't take video during the peak hours of between 11 and 2 PM.

It’s a good review, and it’s good that you showed spec overlays and you did audio and mic tests along with videos, but one thing that every single reviewer is fumbling over is that gloss over the size. These glasses come in 2 sizes and no one mentions as a heads up, the size they have.

Just won a pair - pretty amazing - they also translated whatever I was looking at (English/Italian/Spanish/French/German) - was able to answer a math problem I wrote down - was able to answer a multiple choice question - hear/respond to txt msgs - make/receive calls - listen to all music apps since is basically a BT headset as well - v6 update now allows 3min vids 😎

They only work in limited countries , these are not meant for a traveller. Just bought them in India and can't use them . Posting here so everyone knows ..
