- This video shows a simple method for centering a workpiece in a 4 jaw chuck. At first a 4 jaw chuck may seem intimidating, but with this simple procedure you can center stock more accurately than with a 3 jaw chuck (most 3 jaw chucks will clamp stock a little off center unless you are lucky). This lets you remove and re-insert parts without worrying about whether they are centered for subsequent turning operations.
Just found your channel and Subscribed. Nice lathe

great vid and info Thanks
Very good
Nice, thank you.
Any chance you could show how to set up for an eccentric shave, in 4 jaw chuck with an offset of 3/32. Using a solid round bar of 5/8?
Thanks ✌🏽
Sometimes you say I’ll tighten this jaw but you turned it backwards that means you loosen it is that right? it takes me a long time to centre work in a 4 jaw your way is much better like do 1 and 3 until it’s right then 2 and 4 Now I’ll give it a go. Thanks for sharing.
