It sounds to me like this film is a serious passion project for Fede Alvarez and that he really wants to give alien fans that scary feel from the first two movies. It’s reassuring to know that the director is not letting the studio waste his chance to make a great alien film and that he wants to make the best movie he can. Him being a fan also gives me reassurance that the movie is being made with care and attention to detail to the alien franchise. It’s also good to know that alien isolation inspired elements of this movie which is good because that game is one of the best experiences we’ve had in the alien franchise. I think Fede is making a spiritual successor to the first 2 alien, hopefully it pays off.
I think we shouldn't also forget ridley scotts role as producer , as the studios making this movie involves also his movie studio which you see in the introduction of the trailer. Even though the prequels were not good , ridley scotts alien was his great achievement so he most likely had some interaction with alvarez making this movie
A theory about Big Chap I have to share is that the company finds it floating in space from a beacon in the harpoon gun used on it and it is in a dormant state/cocooned and they wake it up and start to do experiments on it spawning more face huggers and extract the pathogen. I think it eventually escapes due to an incident and the movie goes from there. Either Big Chap is Alive or they have cloned it from the dead/ damaged remains that looks like that rock being brought onto the ship in the trailer. Also I believe the comment above about the colony in the trailer being LV4-26. In Aliens the Weyland Yutani board said that it takes decades to complete the terra forming (shake nd bake colony) so it would fit nicely as Romulus is set sometime in between the events of the original and Aliens. Maybe Hadley's Hope was called something different then. And I'm hoping the derelict is once again somehow involved. I guess we will find out.
You did a really good breakdown.. out of all the ones ive watched.. you only missed talking about when the comet drops into the ship passing the force field ..
I originally heard rumors' that there was 2 different Xenos with one having human like skin but still a xeno... This is the first I heard of either "king" xeno or a "Petorian" may be in this movie! So hyped for this movie & I have a lot of faith that Fede Alvarez will deliver a worthy Alien movie like the first 2!
Anyone else notice in the near last shot that someone is floating through space and basically there is alien blood all strung out in space that they are about to float into
There is definitely two different Aliens on the station, the one which appears more like the big chap from the first movie, although it does seem to have more characteristics from the game version Alien Isolation, and the other one that seems not only bigger, but seems to have a much wider mouth with a slightly different dom on it's head, you can also see in the background of one of the shots it does seem to have a very much more exaggerated tale
It's lv426 at the start of romulus they helped build it Even has the ring planet that was present of lv426 that they board romulus station The teens get bored of working om lv426 and leave Romulus is set 20 years after alien and before aliens and before the hadleys hope xenomorph attacks So wouldn't be far fetched
A view from a planet not in our solar system wouldn't have a sun. It would have a central star. There is only one Sun, Earth's central star. Please correct that next time, TY!
Something every other breakdown of the trailer I've seen keeps omitting is the girl at the end of the trailer where the xenomorph is in her face has her arms bound up above her head. Someone's using her for bait.
They do need to bring in new ideas instead of repeat the same cycle of: eggs, faccehugger and an alien. I did enjoy the 2 prequels because they brought the story in a new direction. But some fans just want the same thing over and over. 🤔
@AcidGlow I thought Prometheus brought some interesting ideas to the table. Covenant, however, was very underwhelming, and I just couldn't buy into the David creates xenomorph storyline. I'm hoping that Romulus delivers something which is exciting but also expands the lore and provides new insights into the xenomorph itself. I have to say, based on the trailers, it looks very promising indeed.
I hate the way they keep changing the alien design. Of course, these young designers have to try and put their stamp on it. Sadly, all have failed. You can't improve on perfection - Gigers alien and Cameron's queen alien. Cameron knew not to mess with the original alien design, he added something new and spectacular also.
Hopefully no wokeness as long as the times doesn't taint the movie there could be hope so instead of it being about the aliens it's already taking that turn it seems hopefully Deadpool and Wolverine won't be too bad very good here
Thing is, that « wokeness » you mention ain’t and never was an issue - the issue is that most of the execs enabling these standards you deem woke also happen no to give any shit to stories or coherence , just money. I assure you, these « woke » standards when naturally embedded in good quality stories do not impede on the overall quality
@@Farmgoth i don’t have a definition and couldn’t care less , hence why i kept referring to his most potential thoughts on the subject based on his « argument »
The "light beaming inside her body" is a scanner similar to the one used by Ash in *Alien* (1979). The design is the same. Ash used it to track down a possible infection in Kane. I saw this scene in Mexico during a 10-minute preview of the movie, and it’s very gory! And finally, that huge cocoon landing in the bay is our Big Chap. The ship found him floating in space, and the creature managed to cocoon itself. From him, scientists conducted numerous experiments which led to the creation of new facehuggers. As usual, something went wrong and all hell breaks loose (possibly due to android sabotage or Big Chap mutating into a new form of a breather). It’s not the Queen because its new form is terrifying (we saw this at the Mexico event too). It looks like a mutated human creature. I didn’t like the trailer. I found nothing original or worth watching. So far, the movie seems like just "another" aesthetic homage to all the films in the franchise, with kids running around corridors, reminiscent of *Event Horizon*. It's boring with kids running around screaming, making you cheer for the alien so they can be finished off quickly. Fede knew about the risk and decided to follow Ridley Scott’s ideas. Scott still thinks he owns *Alien*, but his time is over. Without H.R. Giger and Sid Mead, he would end up making a stupid B-movie. *Covenant* and *Prometheus* are proof of that. He sucks, and people should steer clear of him if any good film based on the *Alien* lore is to be made again. Im done with Alien saga.
If you've seen the new alien design could you tell me if the alien we see in this trailer is. 1. The new species 2. The big chap 3. We see both in this trailer 👍
*What do you think about this Trailer?* 😱😳

I think we might see the alien growing. We haven't seen that process. All we've seen is the left over skin from it's shedding process.
Can't wait to see Alien Romulus.

If the harpoon has a beacon, this is the dumbest movie ever. Looks like it arrives in that organic asteroid in the trailer
I liked the trailer, I have many doubts but I'm hopeful
Same...after Prey, I have zero hope but hoping I'm wrong
Def will watch!
Looks good
The head of the new alien looks more phallic in design, leading me to believe this is the rumored “King” xeno.
Interesting theory
i read this is the Xenomorph that burst from Kane's chest
i bet there's a new breed of xenos on board 😱😱

I noticed that. Really cool concept for a scene. Can imagine someone floating helplessly towards it. Horrible… in a good horror way
Yes that scene looks horrific , the zero gravity scenes give this great vibe like in that game dead space
@@sebraven yeah Dead Space is what immediately sprung to mind when I saw it
Awesome breakdown. Thank you!
Thanks for watching 🙂

That's akeron or possibly akkron (aka lv426)
Can’t wait to see it

What do you reckon the male shadow is he’s looking at? Is it Fassbender as David or a CGI Roy Batty?
Big Chap been sleeping.....

We are definitely getting a new breed of Zeno , people who saw test screening have confirmed it and a familiar character from Alien returning.
I have the Neca Alien Queen and the small alien arms look exactly likje the ones on that toy. The pair of smaller armas protruding from the chest
I would like to see Alec Garland direct a Alien film.
It’s not the sun it’s a star
Could that be a Weyland-Yutani pulse rifle ?
Well there was info about some variation of a Pulse Rifle in the movie. Not the PULSE from Aliens but some other model.
Ashe,
Bishop,
Call.
David.
This synthetic is supposed to be named Edward.

Andy/Android
Silly premise, teenagers against Aliens. Probably trying to go cheap with unknown teenage actors. Stinks of dei as well
The Engineers will be in sequels to this movie, the black goo is in that canister and we have to follow up on the space jockey in the seat
....mmmmmeembbberrrr!
To me, the trailer didn't offer too much That would excite me, but I may not take the risk on this one neither....
I kinda liked it. It's enough for me to want to see the movie. Seems like there's mainly 1 Alien and a bunch of facehuggers 🧐
@@AcidGlow Indeed but for myself i'm more of the militarized setting of the aliens!"
What if they find The Covenant.
That would tie them up super nicely considering they aren’t doing another prequel trilogy. (Obviously a fair few questions need answers)
I am cautiously optimistic that this will lift the franchise from mediocrity.

Man, I wish Poopmetheus and its sequel could be erased from existence...
The premise of the movie is probably just that the aliens are upset because they were misgendered. 😅
The trailer of meh Nostalgia.
It feels like a trap.
Way too much memberberries for my taste :-/
It`s a bit like Star Wars today: "Remember this..?", "Remember that..?". Makes me Makes me suspicious...

Cameron did change the xenomorph design, the head was different with additional riblike ridges, the hands/claws were different too
Do you think they’re going to bellyburster? Of course Chestburser but what about bellyburster?

They get attacked on the Planet and then they fly back to the spaceship and the Alien hatches there
