If anyone still has doubts about Aaron and his authenticity as a chemist devoted to the craft of perfumery (which no one should but...haters) the fact that he feels that the perfumer of Grey Vetiver is French is spot on! Harry Fremont, born in Cannes and trained at the prestigious ISIPCA before going on to join Firmenich, created Grey Vetiver and is an award-winning perfumer for many fragrance houses. Amazing to see how a truly skilled 'nose' works!
I am not a huge fan of Vetiver but this fragrance is an absolute masterpiece! It is so beautifully blended to the point that you get that vetiver but the grapefruit for me really tones it down to where I like the vetiver. It’s not too citrusy, not too woody, not too earthy, the perfumer is very skilled to have come up with this. The amalgamation is so well done and it is absolutely the cleanest fragrance I have ever smelt with Prada L’homme being a close second. In terms of sophistication, I don’t think you can top this.
Agreed. Vetiver can be really "mediciney". But this stuff is great! Many of my favorite Tom Ford scents are dark, strong, leathery, woody, almost dirty, and perfect for winter. Grey Vetiver is the freshest and cleanest Tom Ford scent I've tried and it isn't overly sweet. Aaron describing it as "dry" is a good observation.
I've been wearing Terre D'Hermes lately. It is a dirty, earthier type of vetiver but I think the orange rounds it off nicely. I find it very endearing.
That's a good one but I think that one has a very defined age bracket. You really can't be a young man and wear Terre - it's just "off". Its a scent definitely for the older ages.
@@denniss8644 I generally agree with you, but I think it depends on location as well. I live in Bulgaria (Eastern Europe). In EE, people are generally more into darker, basey, heavier scents, more so than, say, France, England, etc. I'm 20 years old and I've been rocking the Terre parfum. Random people are loving it on me and I myself am in love with it. I do think, that if I were to wear it in Central Europe, I'd get less compliments.
I own alot of tom Fords and I was actually trying the new ombre leather parfum. I sampled the grey vetiver and went full circle and went for that. Sometimes you get overwhelmed with fragrances so when you smell vetiver with its clean fresh herbaceous earthy flavour it's this master of simplicity which grounds you and makes you realise this is why you love perfumery x
Where did you find it? I've tried all the local department stores (Nordstrom, etc-Nordstrom has a sample bottle, but they won't sell it!) and no has it or can get it. Seems like lots of counterfeit online. Thanks. Iman said this was David Bowie's favorite. I wrote Tom Ford and told them they should re-release the scent, but rename it "Bowie." No response so far. :) By the way, thanks for the great review, Aaron. Going to check out your website now.
Delighted to see a perfumer of Aaron’s quality enjoy TM grey Vetiver so much. It’s my signature scent, makes me feel clean, sharp and professional. Lasts and projects perfectly.
I love love love this fragrance. Wary though as on fragrantica it suggests that it's been reformulated and really weak now. According to everyone on fragrantica everything is reformulated and weak to be fair. When did you buy your most recent bottle and what's your take on this? Asking for a friend
@@jamesmochan8576 James, I bought TF Grey Vetiver EDP in 2022. I wouldn’t say it’s the strongest fragrance but spraying on clothes in addition to skin it lasts more than adequately. I think your friend would struggle not to love this. In a side note my friend has the newer Parfum version. It’s not as bright and airy, it’s darker and richer. If it’s for summer spring go with the EDP if it’s for Autumn, Winter I think the Parfum maybe more suitable. It’s definitely more grey. You can’t go wrong with either. Pure class.
I loved the edt, which they discontinued. It remains one of my most worn fragrances. Not necessarily because it's one of my favorite scents, but it just seemed to suit every occasion. Grey Vetiver is a handsome versatile fragrance that every man should have in his wardrobe, in my opinion.
Vetiver can sometimes make scents smell old and dated, but this is clean and fresh with a light citrus open. Looking good there Aaron, bit of a tan going on 👌👌👌❤️
GV is an absolutely beautiful, timeless fragrance. A true classic. I believe you captured it perfectly in your review. It's one of those rare fragrances that just becomes part of your aura when you wear it. The best way I can describe it.
Hi Aaron, seeing you fresh looking and in a good mood makes me happy 😊, My favorite vetivers are Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Byredo bal d'afrique and Chanel sycomore. And again I will say that I love your videos after I watch every video you post, from the first one till this❤️ KEEP IT UP BRO
Man did I love Guerlain vetiver when I had but it everyone around me hated it and said I smelled like an old man in the drydown. So I ended up selling it
@@cseymour97 u shouldnt give an f about what people like on you. Compliments arent the only aspect. Sometimes we are entitled to smell like we want as long as we dont smell disgusting/dirty.
I wear Terre D'Hermes and TF Grey Vetiver on a regular basis. I love both so much as they're both so uplifting to wear on all occasions. Both have great lasting power and they make you feel well put together and in control.
One of my older Vetiver fragrances that I loved was L'Occitane Vetyver, but, sadly, it was discontinued. My current favorite Vetiver fragrances are Guerlain Vetiver, Jovoy de Paris' Incident Diplomatique and Private Label (they perfectly encapsulate the different Vetivers of creamy versus earthy), Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver, Nishane's Sultan Vetiver, Maison Anthony Marmin's Mukhallat de Medellin and some Indian Khas Attars. Another oriental version of Vetiver I like and is worth trying out is Rasasi's Fattan, which interestingly enough is more expensive than the Guerlain Vetiver.... Also, one perfume created by Natalie Lorson is excellent: Lalique's Encre Noir a l'Extrème - outstanding especially for the price.
You got tanned Aaron. Hope you've enjoyed such recent sunshine 🌞 Talking about the scent, this one didn't react very well on my skin with a dirty and bitter smell. For Vetiver based fragrances, I prefer Terre d'Hermes
I enjoy Terre d'Hermes too. I'd also humbly suggest the Eau Intense Vetiver from the same line. While I enjoy Grey Vetiver, I feel the Eau Intense Vetiver is a more casual version of Grey Vetiver. It's not dirty, it's clean, brighter, little more sparkle/spice. It just feels very uplifting imo. A lot of people tend to crap on it purely because it wasn't perfumed by Jean-Claude Ellena but it's a very good, affordable vetiver scent! :D
Please let us know when you drop your vetiver fragrance, man! Guerlain Vetiver is my favorite. Yes, it’s older and a little rougher. Undoubtedly masculine. Love it.
For me it smells like a posh hotel soap bar. I really like this when i wanna smell clean and masculine all day long I actually prefer grey vetiver to the Guerlian vetiver but i actually love north Indian pure vetiver oil (ruh khus) which i put on to relax. There is a amazing talk on vetiver by ensar oud and Exotic scents on RUclips, i highly recommend everyone to watch that if your interested in vetiver.
It's one of my favorite men fragrances. I gifted it to my husband many years ago and he loved it and finished the whole 100 ml bottle. Amouroud Lunar Vetiver was inspired by TF Grey Vetiver and also a nice one.
I'm in my 20s but I really do enjoy Guerlain Vetiver although for many it smells a bit oldfashioned. Also I really do like the Terre D'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver flanker. Thank you for featuring Grey Vetiver, which I will try soon.
I totally agree, the soft, creamy vetiver is my favorite. And Tom Ford Grey Vetiver is my favorite in this class. Amazing! I’ll have to try the Guerlain fragrance everyone is suggesting.
Great review Aaron! I also really enjoy wearing Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver EDT. What concentration are you reviewing, EDT, or EDP? Thank you for the review!
Great summary. Grey Vetiver is really clean, masculine, and subtle. Many recommend it's a "summer" fragrance, but I feel it's great year 'round. Another Vetiver I like is Prada Infusion de Vetiver (it came out around 2012). It has a bit of a "peppery" top note, but on the dry down, it smells like a fresh British grassy meadow. A classic Vetiver everyone would like is "Vetiver" de Guerlain, one of the best -- if not the most prestigious and world renowned -- French perfumers. One can't get more Vetiver than Vetiver de Guerlain!
According to Iman, TF Grey Vetiver was David Bowie's favorite scent. I finally found some (it seems to have been discontinued) and I love it. The silver lining is that my search led me to your channel. Thank you so much for your wonderful reviews. Your knowledge and your 'nose' are astounding.
My wife bought this for me 3yrs ago. It was love of at first smell. I only have a corner left 😔 Grey vetiver was a bonafide compliment snatcher at my brother in-laws wedding. & I took this to Bali & Phuket Thailand &.... it turned heads & left ppl smiling.
Grey shirt to go with Grey Vetiver! This is a FANTASTIC summer fragrance....the dry down gets sweeter and is excellent, long lasting, and very pleasant to everyone around you. I'm not much for complements but this does generate quite a few of them.
Grey Vetiver is my clean & pressed white oxford shirt perfume. Sharp but soft. Somewhat quiet and reserved but in a fashionable way. Also great in the summer to just spice things up. I'm not a big fan of vetiver in general as it tends to lean tn the B.O. side on my skin, but there are a few that clean it up into something I can enjoy.
As I own this fragrance I can say it‘s the best vetiver-based fragrance I tried, along with Terre d‘Hermes EdT.As Ash from Gents Scents said, absolutely fit for a king.
My favorite Vetiver fragrances are: Vetiver Insolent Miller Harris Fat Electrician Semi-Modern Vetiver Etat Libre d'Orange Encre Noire A L'Extreme Lalique Dia Man Amouage Vetyverio Eau De Parfum Diptyque and I prefer Vetiver mixed with gourmand or woody notes
Love your passion, deep knowledge and understanding of fragrances and the chemistry behind it. I envy your healthy glow. Will take a sniff of TF’s “Grey Vetiver” tomorrow at Bloomingdales.
It’s lovely - it’s been out over a decade but very very nice. I used to wear this on hot summer days after work having a G&T in London. Would be great for you to make one in time for the summer!
Oh I can’t wait to try your vetiver fragrance. love Grey Vetiver and I love you Aaron. Such a lovely review. I’m glad you dig the fragrance. You should try Dior Vetiver. Soooo good. Peace and love from Brooklyn.
Hi Aaron, i'm a big fan of your work. I do talk about fragrances here in Brazil on my channel and I was wondering if you could tell me what microphone you use in your videos, cause it sounds really amazing. Best regards from Brazil!
My favorite fragrance. One of the few where I needed a backup bottle. I personally like vetiver, and enjoy some dirtier iterations, but I have my limits (Bentley Wild Vetiver and Nishane Sultan Vetiver are too dirty for me, but I like Encre Noire). However, to be honest, the cleaner herbal/metallic vetiver smell is more pleasant to me (Creed Original Vetiver, TF Grey Vetiver).
Where would you recommend for buying natural and aroma chemical materials from for someone wanting to try their hand at homemade fragrances? Thanks Aaron! Love the content!
Thanks Aaron because of this review and also because i do not have this one! I now will be purchasing this one tomorrow! When you get excited about a fragrance which i hardly see you be like you are about this Fragrance well that tells me its going to be good...I trust your taste and your nose! I will be buying this tomorrow!
I didn't like tom ford's gray vetiver at 1st but I'm diggin it now... Super masculine, clean. I noticed you always move your hands ,arms when doing your reviews. I like it . Great review Aaron.
Hello Aaron, Grey Vetiver was actually the fragrance that sent me down this black hole of perfumery and turned me on to your channel as well as others such as the Bow Tie fragrance Guy, Max Forte, and others, I actually first heard of it watching Kevin Samuel's channel and it was his fragrance of the day, I love the projection and this fragrance last until the next day, this is certainly a masterpiece as are most in the Tom Ford line up
Man I like Aaron , Max in And Darian the Bow Tie Guy as well as Kevin Samuels and get a lot from Ashton of Gent Scents as well.Big Ganz you can truly learn I totally agree with you
Wow we all follow the same fragrance guys.. I definitely bought everything in the past year based on their reviews.. I bought so many samplers before I purchased my 6 bottles.. Herod, Grey Veviter, Oud Wood,Enclave, Molecule 01 and Aventus
You’re so tan!!! I’m guessing you took a well-deserved Holiday!! I too love this fragrance; it’s wonderful and I wear it all the time. I’ll always have a bottle on hand.
Greetings again from Switzerland Aaron. How different do you think this is from your soon to be released Guapo? I have high hopes for that one and am saving up for it.
As always, thank you for the fantastic review Aaron! You rated this one so high which makes me wanna try it out myself, as I'm always excited to get great fragrances for an affordable price:) Im wondering though, what's the difference between linear fragrances (that you often find boring) and those that are 'stable and robust'?
I do love Tom Ford Grey Vetiver but have to say Terre D'Hermes is my favorite having the perfect balance between clean and dirty. It lasts ALL day on my skin as well...
I love the Terre d' Hermès Eau Vetiver Intense. It's very crisp and clean and lemony at the top, and lasts a while. I prefer that ever so slightly to the Tom Ford. And I also love the dark one, Encre Nior from Lalique
TF nailed this for sure. Vetiver and oakmoss done this way is my favorite combo. Backed with some freshness creates the dream team when I think of masculine signature scents. Already had women at the office asking me what it was so they could buy it for their husbands. Solid
I'm a big fan of TF Grey Vetiver. I read that the perfumer used Guerlain Vetiver as the inspiration for Grey Vetiver. Of course they did, because Guerlain Vetiver is THE reference Vetiver. Here are my favorite Vetiver frags, if the Terre d'Hermes EDT/Parfum is excluded: 1. Guerlain Vetiver 2. Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver 3. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver 4. Roja Parfums Vetiver 5. Creed Original Vetiver A few I do not like 1. Nishane Sultan Vetiver 2. Lalique Encre Noir L'Extreme (good shelf art but wearability in question. 3. Carven Vetiver
Perfect Office scent. Really nothing better than this imo - safe, very clean and pleasant, high quality, unique from the typical fresh aquatics and has good longevity.
Thanks Aaron Is this EDP or EDT I really need to know the difference as i am going to buy but which i don't know... Many say EDT is more beautiful....any help?
Bought Essential Parfums - Bois Imperial last week. Reminds me of Grey Vetiver but better! It's niche and cheaper than GV. Only €75 for 100ml in the Netherlands. And it lasts longer. Love your video's!
Hi Aaron, Great video.Guerlain Vetiver for me all the way. What a classic!I am 41 years old and Guerlain Vetiver is what I wear to the office when I have meetings. Guerlain Vetiver has an air of class, professionalism and composure. Not sure if you have made a video on Habit Rouge or Vetiver from Guerlain but would love to hear your thoughts. Kind Regards Renoy
Glad to see this review. This one has been on my radar lately as my next potential purchase. I have samples of this and Terre D'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver. I did a side by side comparison, and while I like both, I prefer the Tom Ford.
Aaron, fantastic review! I enjoy vintage Racine Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier, vintage Chanel 19, Geurlaine Vetiver, Rogue Vetifleur, etc. I’m curious to learn more about your fragrances, will do some searching!
Grey Vetiver is great, very approachable vetiver. My favourite is Imaginary Authors, Every storm a serenade. It's a vetiver based fragrance with some calone and an ambergris accord (assuming not real but it could be) Very creative as is most of Josh Mayer's work. Would love to see you review some of the imaginary authors line actually!
For Fall/Winter, I prefer Encre Noir L'Extreme by Lalique. This is the dirty version of Vetiver, where as in Spring/Summer, I wear Dunhill Edition, or Guerlain Vetiver when in the mood. Tsar by Van Cleef is preferred, but not available anymore.
I thoroughly enjoy Original Vetiver, by Creed. It’s just an extremely uplifting, soapy Vetiver scent that I particularly enjoy wearing on warm spring days. Enjoyed the review. Thank you, Aaron.
This fragrance is pure class and elegance, there is an element of tranquility to this scent, almost a sobering ambience, it symbolises how a gentleman should be and should smell. Best worn with a suit or smart casual atire. Amazing and one of my all time favourites 😍
Such a Quality review there Aaron. I got a 100ml bottle back in 2013 and I could could still catch a whiff of it 11 hours later after applying the fragrance. Excellent, masculine and versatile to go to the office in during the Spring and Summer or a day scent when you’re out and about
Nice review and very surprising final verdict, Aaron. I was like: OK, the review is going to be spot on (as always), but there is no way this is his type of a scent :D
I’ve had this for years. I wasn’t a fan, wore it a few times and forgot about it. A few years later I tried it again in the summer and it was sooo good, it had smoothed out and deepened somehow. The very first seconds of this reminds me of bitter lemon for some reason, because it’s not particularly sweet.
I'm a older woman who often wears fragrances made for men and other 'strange' ones (LOVE ouds, Chanel Sycamore, Cabochard). Have had Guerlain Vetiver in the past. Just bought this for myself (online) for my birthday without even trying it based on the David Bowie connection (scuse if that sounds lame, but the chap did have good taste....). .Then decided to watch some reviews 🙃 Love your presentation style and looking forward to receiving my bottle of this in the mail. I hardly ever go 'out; so I'm as likely to wear this gardening.. just for myself 😊
Aaron, I am glad that you love Grey Vetiver from Tom Ford. I own & love the fragrance as well. I love vetiver fragrances & I look forward to your vetiver release. I am sure it will be excellent. I also love 4 other vetiver fragrances. At the high end, I love Haitian Vetiver from Ermenegildo Zegna and Vétiver d'Hiver from Armani Prive. At the low end, but still excellent vetiver fragrances, are Bois de Vetiver from Karl Lagerfeld and Carven Le Vetiver.

Let him review Ganymede please! Can't wait for it :)
Hi Aaron, besides Grey Vetiver, I like Vetiver Sensuelle (Mancera) very much because it's a bit softer but also radiant and long lasting... Many grtz.
You look great Aaron, really glowing and healthy.
My favourite. Always hoped you would review this one.
I love it! Invigorating, truly lovely when you get whiffs in the air… it’s a great all rounder, with that touch of class
Hi Aaron, Happy New Year…I will like to know your Opinion on Metalique on the future…Nothing But The Best from Brussel 🙏🏻
Very Nice Aaron...Love Grey Vetiver Aaron....Love Tom Ford Period!
Aaron ur skin is looking great :D
Dude you are an awesome reviewer!!!! Don’t ever stop doing what you do !!! Stay true t the fragrance game.
You rated this one so high which makes me wanna try it out myself, as I'm always excited to get great fragrances for an affordable price:)
Im wondering though, what's the difference between linear fragrances (that you often find boring) and those that are 'stable and robust'?
Yes try it. One of my favorites.
OMG Aaron loving the new look HOLYYY 🔥🔥🔥
I do love Tom Ford Grey Vetiver but have to say Terre D'Hermes is my favorite having the perfect balance between clean and dirty. It lasts ALL day on my skin as well...
Excellent video. Great energy and knowledge.
This is my work scent! Feels so professional and clean.
I like this one on sunny cool days during late winter and early spring.
Another great review of a truly fantastic fragrance.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts, since you don’t particularly use vetiver often 👍
I love the Terre d' Hermès Eau Vetiver Intense. It's very crisp and clean and lemony at the top, and lasts a while. I prefer that ever so slightly to the Tom Ford. And I also love the dark one, Encre Nior from Lalique
If you like the Hermes try Draconis by Tiziana Terenzi, if you haven't already.
Thanks Aaron for another great review. I really like Lalique Encre noire a l'extreme, also Encre noire sport and Guerlain Vetiver 👍😁
Here are my favorite Vetiver frags, if the Terre d'Hermes EDT/Parfum is excluded:
1. Guerlain Vetiver
2. Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver
3. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
4. Roja Parfums Vetiver
5. Creed Original Vetiver
A few I do not like
1. Nishane Sultan Vetiver
2. Lalique Encre Noir L'Extreme (good shelf art but wearability in question.
3. Carven Vetiver
Perfect Office scent. Really nothing better than this imo - safe, very clean and pleasant, high quality, unique from the typical fresh aquatics and has good longevity.
Thanks Aaron
Is this EDP or EDT
I really need to know the difference as i am going to buy but which i don't know...
I am a woman and I LOVE this on my skin!!! I love this and also Chantecaille Vetiver
amazing review! Im torn between Creed Original Vetiver and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. Would be interested in seeing what you think of the Creed
Spot on review. Love GV and about to finish off a complete bottle. For the money is a banger. Next review please ATH.
Hi Aaron,
Great video.Guerlain Vetiver for me all the way.
Kind Regards
Renoy
Glad to see this review. This one has been on my radar lately as my next potential purchase. I have samples of this and Terre D'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver. I did a side by side comparison, and while I like both, I prefer the Tom Ford.
Aaron, fantastic review! I enjoy vintage Racine Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier, vintage Chanel 19, Geurlaine Vetiver, Rogue Vetifleur, etc. I’m curious to learn more about your fragrances, will do some searching!
What you asked about vetiver: Fat Electrician by Etat Libre d'Orange is great. Creamy, caramelly, with hints of solder fumes :)
I love this one and your review is absolutely spot on. Guerlain Vetiver is another one of my favourite 👍👍👍
Wow brother u look super laid back in this one, post holiday vibes nice one :)
Had same bottle for 11 years😂😂...hardly used any but tried some after watching this and bloody love it..will the scent have changed in 11years lol.?
Softer and dryer than Geurlain Vetiver, love both of them. It's a classic TF. Thanks for the review Aaron!
I would love to see you review Prada Amber Pour Homme! ✨
Hey Aaron, if you were to pick one between grey vetiver, jazz club by MMM and TF Tuscan leather, which one would you choose?
Aaron i wondering have you tried anything from Guerlain they say they have a excellent Vetiver fragrance.
I’ve had similar experiences with this one - sometimes it seems unimpressive and other times it’s amazing.
