- Russian cruiser Varyag (Varangian), (ex-Chervona Ukraina), is the third ship of the Slava-class of guided missile cruisers built for the Soviet Navy now serving the Russian Navy
In early January 2016, Varyag was reported to have entered the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal to be deployed off Syria′s shore replacing sister ship Moskva, in support of Russia's air operation in Syria that had begun in autumn 2015. The ship was named flagship of the Russian naval task force positioned in the eastern Mediterranean

Увы сейчас океанские корабли уже не строят. Всё в руках всевышнего. Бог даст ещё будем штамповать, как в былые времена.

No it’s because the hull were created like a sword (its curved) and the deck was painted with red colors material same goes as the WW2 Battlecruiser HMS Hood it was famous of being the most beautiful ship of its era, other than that yes it’s looks cool
Funny, Ukrainians with 2 rockets sunk this class of ship in the black sea.
It has an excessive amount of rockets that if gets hit the ship is doomed.

@@Сталинградец ну корабль корытом не назвать, но "Москва" показала, что тонут они быстро(как и любой современный корабль). Главным минусом крейсеров этого типа, это их количество, а именно всего два, у России линейных крейсеров столько же.

Outdated technology but probably could give almost all other navies some problems. Did you guys know the red paint is an anti-corrosion paint? The USA uses a similar paint but its not lead and uses a grey color instead.

@Juan Miñones yes it does. But for everything a reason? Mr Google thinks this is the answer.......The decks of the Russian ships are painted with a "red lead" rust proofing paint. ... The top coat isn't really necessary, however, and the Russiansjust leave the red lead exposed. Doing so likely reduces the amount of work when a new coat is needed
It's done for identification to prevent friendly fire. Russians designs often place great emphasis on worst case scenarios.

Why is the radar antennae always in the same position working?
The radar antennae is probably only focused in a certain direction. Im pretty sure the flat-face on the front tower rotates 360 degrees. Im going to guess the one that dont spin is the firing radar for the big missiles at the front and the flat-face is for the AAMs. Im not sure what the funky looking thing on the back is though.
