That sound of the ship's hull when the ice is fighting back... Makes it almost impossible to sleep. I remember it very well. Navigating in ice conditions is very hard. Being stuck in ice is frustrating and possibly dangerous. But I'm glad I experienced it, for it was so immensely beautiful.
These icebreakers are the result of Soviet designers and engineers. I talked to the person responsible for the design now. They do colossal work, including taking up such projects again after a long break (since Soviet times). I've been lucky to have a cruise on one of these icebreakers before. Are you aware that over the past few years, 3 more icebreakers of the new series have been put into operation. They are much larger and more powerful than those in the video. One more was launched in November 2022.

Neither designed nor built. And the icebreaker from the video was indeed completed and put into operation in Russian time, but it was designed and mostly built under the Soviets.
If you look into their behind the scenes video on Saint Petersburg, they have a professional colorist that creates this high contrast look. He says that by using the DJI Zenmuse X7 they are able to push the editing real far to look this great without artifacts spoiling the final product.

It actually started construction in 1989 but it was delayed past the 1995 expected completion date and wasn’t completed/commissioned until 2007 where it was put into service for the first time.

@@finn6088 It is not, but it can. I grew up in the north of Russia, in the Murmansk region, in a small military garrison. It used to be a naval base, now disbanded. Quite large, there were about ten nuclear submarines there. The climate there is quite harsh. There are no temperatures below -25 ... -30 C, these are the lowest temperatures of the year, usually in the second half of January. The usual temperature in winter is -10 C. But at the same time the wind blows all the time. 10-15 m / s - great weather. If not for the negative temperature and humid air from the Atlantic and the Gulf Stream. So, one New Year's Eve, the wind knocked down several power line supports that were covered in ice due to a sharp thaw and then freezing. This ship is the only hope of people stuck in ice in the pitch-black arctic winter. Seeing that ray of light on the horizon coming to rescue you... this is the angel of the sea.
The prime objective of these ships is to clear the ice for other commercial ships to pass. They're also used for scientific purposes to get data from these regions where no one else can go, but like you said, they are sometimes used for that purpose as well.

Кстати благодаря реактору можно установить на данный корабль двигатель работающий на водороде (являющийся не безопасным ткк воспламенение водорода при попадании кислорода моментальное) но сам факт что это будет тоже самое не исключено, просто электричество будет преобразовывать из воды -топливо, а водород в свою очередь работу двигателя внутреннего сгорания.

What an awesome video. Love the Russian ice breakers. Cool paint jobs. And how ingenious to have an inward curved stern to accommodate the bow of another ship that needs protection and passage through the ice. So cool!
Amazing video! The chilling thing about this video is the time lapse. During the time lapse sequences everything remains so perfectly still its unreal. The camera placement also helps convey that feeling to not show the ice breaking. Its not like your normal time lapses where you are watching a building being put up in less than minute or a ship sailing across seas, this is a time lapse where everything remains motionless other than the texture of the ice, there isn't even a loose cable telling you that this is a time lapse. And that stillness moves through the other shots where we get a glimpse of its sheer size and power.

Intersect I used to sail as a chief officer on cargo ships. We have got stuck in ice several times.

It actually started construction in 1989 but it was delayed past the 1995 expected completion date and wasn’t completed/commissioned until 2007 where it was put into service for the first time.

Quite large, there were about ten nuclear submarines there. The climate there is quite harsh. There are no temperatures below -25 ... -30 C, these are the lowest temperatures of the year, usually in the second half of January. The usual temperature in winter is -10 C. But at the same time the wind blows all the time. 10-15 m / s - great weather. If not for the negative temperature and humid air from the Atlantic and the Gulf Stream. So, one New Year's Eve, the wind knocked down several power line supports that were covered in ice due to a sharp thaw and then freezing. The prime objective of these ships is to clear the ice for other commercial ships to pass. They're also used for scientific purposes to get data from these regions where no one else can go, but like you said, they are sometimes used for that purpose as well.

Кстати благодаря реактору можно установить на данный корабль двигатель работающий на водороде (являющийся не безопасным ткк воспламенение водорода при попадании кислорода моментальное) но сам факт что это будет тоже самое не исключено, просто электричество будет преобразовывать из воды -топливо, а водород в свою очередь работу двигателя внутреннего сгорания.

I've been on one of these when it was docked. They are amazing and comfortable inside. They look hideous outside but inside they are like airplanes. No metal walls. Everything is covered. The chilling thing about this video is the time lapse. During the time lapse sequences everything remains so perfectly still its unreal. The camera placement also helps convey that feeling to not show the ice breaking. Its not like your normal time lapses where you are watching a building being put up in less than minute or a ship sailing across seas, this is a time lapse where everything remains motionless other than the texture of the ice, there isn't even a loose cable telling you that this is a time lapse.
And that stillness moves through the other shots where we get a glimpse of its sheer size and power.

done with drones nowdays, not helicopters, these drones are allowing us to see world totally diffrent way from the seats of our home, we should be thankfull for people who make them, and improve them all the time, and the people who learn to control these and go all over the world to shoot amaizing stuff like this

@@happyerzya Нет там радиации, защита реакторов сделана на высшем уровне. Но всё равно, еще с Советских времен принят закон о вредности, если стаж по первой сетке 7,5 лет, то на пенсию в 50 лет, ну если и северный стаж 15 лет (это общий стаж 15 лет), то в 45 лет. Но никто не выпроваживает можешь продолжать работать.
