This video does not do service to the (imho, justified) lopsided hatred of The University of Texas by Texas A&M University, formerly The Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. TAMC predated UT but when UT was finally created it was established as a separate and "superior" institution of higher learning as it was perceived that the hicks and lower classes went to Farmer school while intellectuals would attend another more refined, distinct institution. The lawmakers who controlled money in Texas did everything in their power to favor UT to the detriment of TAMC, even going so far as to putting oil royalties from production on state lands into a fund solely for use by UT. As a Texas-Ex, it is my firm belief that NO school has as strong a case for hating their rival as do the Aggies. Members of other rivalries may make the case that theirs is bigger but nobody has been slighted by their rival in any fashion close to what A&M suffered at the hands of those supporting UT.
Michigan state had a similar issue with Michigan. State was/is an agricultural school and Michigan fought to keep them from joining the big ten bc they didn't want another school in the same state that could steal recruits. Michigan was also the reason Notre Dame didn't join the big ten back in the day from a buddy of mine who's a big ND fan
Can’t hate A&M anymore. The stack collapse, the vets that help my dogs, and a family member hanging a jersey in dad’s room just before he went ahead of us into the next part of life. I didn’t like that, but there was no time for all that at the moment. I just wanted dad to stay alive. Now I’m 50, and I just can’t do it. Life is more important. Oil lease money from the Permanent University Fund is split 2/3 to Texas and 1/3 to A&M. College 100 years ago is not as it is now. Land Grant Universities in many States set aside land and funding for an Agricultural/Mechanical or Tech school and a Flagship University usually located in or near the State Capital. Over time these ag schools (Clemson, Auburn, Michigan State, Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State)) have become similar to the Flagship University in curriculum while still maintaining their rural roots. Like wise many teachers colleges have now become full universities such as Texas State and Florida State.
Auburn and Alabama had a very similar situation dating back to the civil war. Auburn got a land grant from the state that kept there school alive in which Alabama did everything they could in the law to prevent it. Look at the history of the iron bowl.
This whole rivalry began because of the two schools wealth disparities. To sum it up, Texas A&M was a military/ agricultural school where the children of the states farmers and rural areas would attend. Meanwhile UT was a school where the children of the elite would attend. The hatred stems from the rich vs the poor.

Funding disparities are the main reason. From the very beginning in the 1870when tu tried to literally cancel ATM. Sul Ross (Famed Texas Ranger, Confederate General and School President) literally punched out a fellow State Rep over funding. DeLoss Dods ruined the SWC and drove away Colorado, Nebraska. The largest share of revenue went to OU and tu. The launch of the Longhorn Network further exacerbated the funding differences, so ATM left for the SEC where funds are split evenly among all the programs. Glad the game is back.

TX 17 ATM 7 😛
Im 54. I remember all to well how Texas A&M use to own Texas. I think A&M won 8 out of ten games against Texas in the late eighties - early nineties.
76-37 all time reecord against the aggies
@Thatswildpimp dude you probably haven't even stepped foot in a classroom on that campus in Austin.
A&M record wise is closer with Tech
@@useyowords9745 TT is a better team than Texas A&M.
@@re8746 lol good joke
3 national championships for A&M? Did you get that off of the wall of bs on The Super Kroger stadium that they play in? Guy sounds like a homer. They have national title while the world was at war.
Cry
@@Texan190lol. Cry!
1 natty. 1939 and that’s it
@ericmartin7185 lol we have 3, loser. You keep crying
@@ericmartin7185 cope harder. We have 3.
A&M does not have three National Championships. They have ONE. It is in 1939. Pre AP poll championships are not real.
@rich4783 cry more, yes A&M Does have 3. NCAA recognition beats your butthurt. Lol tcu and a&m won titles before tu even sniffed one.
@@Texan190 With that logic, Princeton and Yale are the best schools in NCAA history. Your championship trophy is an antique from 85 years ago!! hahaha
@rich4783 No. Now you're being completely disingenuous and a butthurt loser. NCAA recognizes the titles, so be butthurt.
@rich4783 Also yes, if they have the most titles, but they aren't looked at the same as they don't even compete in FBS.
@rich4783 but cry some more
Funding disparities are the main reason.
Not a rivalry, Big brother beats little brother
Well that would also mean that t.u. is older than A&M and it is not.
Little sissy is tu
And Texas A&M has a larger student body now
@ they also have a larger amount of Ls this season
@victorvaughn4281 lol and that needs to be pointed out? Bless your poor tshirt heart
Texas v TAMU is like USC v UCLA
Just like Texas V OU is like USC v ND
No
I don’t think you fully understand the scope of the A&M texas rivalry. The best comparison is UM vs OSU, but being from Texas, this game is even bigger. Just bc it hasn’t been around ppl forget how big this game actually is.
Lol! In your dreams, maybe.
OP is right with the analogy.
@@tracekoenning2459Texas-OU is often compared to UM-OSU. They’re usually ranked in the top 3 rivalry games in the sport with the Iron Bowl.
Bro had to make a video for this game for the views 😂
What Year TX vs A&M Played Each Other with African Americans & Join the Pac & Big 10 in 20th Century?
Texas (or OU) should not have been allowed to join the SEC since they are the reason other schools left the Big12.
No. They left because they were tired of getting whipped by UT and U of O
Never made sense to me how conservative Texans can cheer for a highly liberal institution
I think Austin is more liberal than other cities in Texas. Additionally, lots of Californians are moving here as well as the fact that 2 or 3 counties in Austin voted blue this year. Regardless, I'm glad that politics doesn’t control people's views on sports.
@ it should control the view on supporting the institution as a whole period, that campus had a Kamala rally, had a rally to support no guns on campus, has the most liberal policies imaginable.. I as a conservative can’t even sniff that city, makes me
Sick
@@johnrion3232Why would you need a gun on campus? Sure in the middle of nowhere, but a school campus? That's what security and cops are for.
What liberal policies?
@@GalacticNovaOverlord lmao 🤣 you’re really not smart are you? Hahahahaha pathetic, you’d be one of the ones lying down hoping you don’t get hit when some depressed loser starts cappin fools in the library…
A&M finna pull out the Indiana and Ohio state game on texas 😂
The Historic match up is ALWAYS Thanksgiving Day. Growing up, the Turkey was scheduled around when kick off happened. Gig’em Aggies!
The comments here are exactly why people hate tu and the fans. I guarantee theyre all tshirt fans too.
Tuck Fexas
The series has been even since schaolarship limits were put in place, and DKKKR couldnt buy up all the talent in the state.
tu does anything and everything it can to screw over A&M in every aspect, from politics, academics, and athletics, etc.
Also we call them teasippers because while Aggies were dying, fighting for our country, they were sitting in Austin sipping on tea. Little rich boys, wannabe elitists thinking their school is "ivy", lol.
hes obsessed with us😭🫵
@sundew_ii aw, sweet smooth brain. You wish, loser tshirt.
