    Wow, this was INCREDIBLY helpful! I spent hours on the Garmin website and still couldn't figure out how to add routes or even saving a track. Much appreciated for the detailed information and actually showing it in use.

    Nice videography on the route, adds a nice touch, funny your shadow appeared to be striding quicker than you 😊. Enjoy using the eTrex32 has certainly added to the enjoyment of walking especially when others in the group insist they know where our current position is and convince themselves the OS map must be out of date! Appreciated your advice over the phone on purchase, excellent backup and course material online, thanks Roy Chestnutt

    Just a short update for you about your comment about using a tablet with the Garmn etrex 32x GPS. I have discovered that I did manage to load my geocaching qurries files which are GPX files on to my Etrex 32x as had left them on on my computer at home this past bank holiday weekend by the following using my Android Table which is a usb c . I did redownload my geocaching querries. Onto my Android tablet. All that was neaded is a usb c《OTG) on the go addapter along with my garmin usb cable with just the file manager on my tablet which was capable of unzipping the download files and recognised my garmin etrex 32x GPS as a storage device which showed up as two USB drives as i have got a memory card installed.

Any help will be appreciated

    Great vids as usual, however having paid 180 notes for the 32x it dont make sense adding OS mapping as you suggest at another 300 + notes. Especially as I already have an OS premium subscription and my map card from a u/s Satmap active 12 is non transferable.

    Can you set up a beep for a waypoint as on 23:30 and different beep tone on the turn. Thar would be very convenient. No stress about missing turn. Thanks for sharing.

    • @ukgpstraining

      Sadly you can't set up different tones for waypoints but you can choose to have some 'silent' if you choose to. I hope this helps.

    How do you use Garmin etrex 32x for Land division

  • @kristaps2010
    @kristaps2010 2 года назад

    At 29:00 good example in the mist creating a waypoint. will gps navigate you as a birdsfly via straight line or will automatically follow the OS map via available walking path? If the latter then will garmin withonly topo map be same? Thank you

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  2 года назад +1

      For this video I have created the route in a 'direct manner' taking me in a straight line from waypoint to waypoint. With the OS maps (within a National Park) you can get it to route you via the footpaths. As you rightly suggest the pre loaded Topo Active maps would route you also.
      BUT, lets not overcomplicate things. In these videos i have tried to make things simple. Plan a route on the free route planning software and follow the arrow! SIMPLE.

  • @bizzle187

    Excellent video, thanks for taking the time to do this.
    Looks like this unit will suit mountain biking and hiking both. I'm wondering if it would be ideal for someone in Canada or if one of the pricier Garmin units like the 530 might have better maps (or ay oher advantages)?

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question. The 530 is very much a cycling unit whilst this is more of a multi activity unit, making it ideal for both your biking and hiking.
      In me 'best of series' I rank the Garmin eTrex 32x as the best budget GPS unit on the market - gpstraining.co.uk/blogs/reviews/best-handheld-outdoor-gps-unit#BESTBUDGETGPS

    I have always used Tracks for trails so far. I tried to use routes but it’s a straight line always!!! All My OSM maps are routable and shows correct turn by turn route in basecamp. However, in eTrex 32x it’s only a straight line 😢. Both basecamp and gps has same maps and i did not use the Global Basemap. I’ve read many online solutions but it didn’t work!! In the gps unit when i manually create a route in the city, it shows correct turn by turn route but basecamp routes always result in a straight line . Any advise to fix it?

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  Год назад

      Sadly the eTrex 32x does not go off road turn by turn routing, just on road.
      You have to jump upto the GPSMAP series of units to get this. Hence on the 32x I plan in ‘direct routing’ taking me in a straight line from waypoint to waypoint.
      I hope this helps.

      @@ukgpstraining Thanks a lot for your reply sir. It’s an eye opener for me and whoever bought or planning to buy this device for trail routing. Sadly none of the youtubers talked about this fact neither the product description says it. I feel like a dumb now. I bought it in January’23. I could have spent few extra bucks to get gpsmap series and now i am stuck with etrex. If possible kindly make a short informative video in your etrex playlist and explain about this trail routing limitation. It will save hundreds of dollars of many people who is planning to get etrex series for trail routing. Once again thank you for your response. Garmin never responded with an explanation to me. !!!

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  Год назад

      It sounds like you need to get a satellite signal i.e. so the GPS knows where it is. You will need to go outdoors for this or put it on a window ledge. I show you how to do this at this point in the video - ruclips.net/video/cFZcY2bND4M/видео.html
      Once you have a satellite signal just zoom in on the map and it will show you the map of your current location.
