Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Present is my favourite part of this movie, she never fails to crack me up no matter how many times i've watched this movie!
Apparently in an interview she commented how much of a good sport Bill Murray was during the shooting of this scene because turns out it was an extremely painful process 😂😂😂😂
The *Ghost of Christmas Past* is *David Johansen,* vocalist for *New York Dolls* in the early 70's. In 1987 he had a huge hit under the name *Buster Poindexter* with *Hot Hot Hot* (originally released by *Arrow* in 1982).
Sam Kinison was originally considered for the role. They had it written with him in mind but the producers had concerns with his drug addiction. They wanted this movie to be as wholesome as possible.
Carol Kane (Ghost of Christmas Present) is a gift! She's usually a bit kooky, but always cute. You saw her previously in Addams Family Values as Granny Addams. One of her early horror roles for Slasher Saturday - the original When A Stranger Calls 😱 And for Karen Allen's best - Starman, with Jeff Bridges, directed by John Carpenter. It's easily one of his most underrated.
Carol Kane is always an adorable good time. I think I liked her best in Transylvania 65000. Karen Allen is an underrated actress. I wish she was in more. I loved her in Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Animal House (it's key to the plot).
I wore out my old VHS copy and can quote most of Bill Murray's lines. I always loved all the small parallels to the original story. One joke that goes over most people's heads is in the restaurant scene Frank orders a Highball and instead gets an eyeball. Loved your reaction to Carol Kane! She was Miracle Max's wife Valerie in The Princess Bride. Her banter with Billy Crystal is legendary!
Lee Freakin Majors! Six Million Dolllar Man. The Fall Guy! Ashley J. Williams father from Ash vs Evil Dead! LOL!! I love this movie. It's a holiday tradition to play this movie on Christmas! 😊
"It's Christmas Eve! It's... it's the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we... we... we smile a little easier, we... w-w-we... we... we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be!" Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁 Fun Fact: This was Bill Murray's first starring role since Ghostbusters (1984). Gun Enthusiast Fact: The sling mounted GE M134 minigun used by Lee Majors in the beginning of the movie was the same one used by Jesse Ventura in Predator (1987). Final Bow Fact: One of the special appearances in the movie was that of actor John Houseman. He died on October 31, 1988, less than one month before the movie was released in theaters on November 23. Murray Family Fact: All of Bill Murray's acting brothers, John Murray, Joel Murray, and Brian Doyle-Murray appeared in this movie. John's the only one that played his on-screen brother, Joel plays one of the guests at John's party, while Brian plays Bill's on-screen father. Historical Fact: When Frank (Bill Murray) throws water on the waiter he sees burning, he says he thought he was Richard Pryor to cover his insane behavior. This is a reference to an event in Pryor's life when he, while freebasing cocaine, accidentally set himself on fire and ran down a busy street in Los Angeles. What Script Fact: Bill Murray falling on his way out of the restaurant was unscripted and a genuine accident. Apparently, it was due to the stairs still being wet, after splashing the waiter with water, that caused him to lose his footing. Bill Murray ad-libbed most of his lines. In a 1988 interview with Philadelphia Daily News, Richard Donner discussed Murray's penchant for improvisation and described the experience of directing Murray as follows: "It's like standing on 42nd Street and Broadway, and the lights are out, and you're the traffic cop."
I love that Bill Murray's older brother played his father in the past and that one of his younger brothers played his brother. The only Murray brother not involved was the youngest Murray
Bill Murray has a formula for many of his movies . It's the anti-Chevy Chase formula. They both start out assholes and by the end Murray has learned his lesson and changed while Chase remains the same.
This gets a high recommendation for rewatchability. I've changed "favorite scenes" so many times that I just put it on and let it run and run and run. Thanks for the review. I wonder what your canine partners think about you, watching movies, with the wide, wide world of emotions you cover! "Oh Lawdy, there he goes again! Will there be screamin' or laughin'?!!"
Maybe I'm too adult, but veal isn't the worst gift you can get. I mean, good veal is kinda expensive and if you know what you're doing, it's a really good choice for dinner -- small holiday meal, right? haha
The cabbie is Buster Poindexter. He is a singer with some fun videos. Hot Hot Hot is my favorite. He did a very sexy Baby It's Cold Outside with Sigourney Weaver that i can't find on RUclips. The fairy is Carol Kane. She was in Princess Bride (have fun storming the castle) and was the grandma in Addams Family. And was Latka's girlfriend on Taxi. ❤❤
I was 5yrs old when my parents took me with them to see this. Got a little creeped out by his dead boss and the 3 soles under deaths robe. But I remember laughing my ass off at the fairy ghost kicking his ass. This has been a must watch movie every Xmas since. LOVED your every reaction J😆 Merry Christmas 🎄
This is one my favorites. Prob watch it at least 10 times during the Christmas season. Another dark comedy Christmas movie to check out is "The Ref" starring Dennis Leary. So underrated. Kinda of a lost classic.
"Is Santa at war? Who? Is Santa's workshop in Detroit?!" The Six-Million Dollar Man holiday special is still something I want to see. For context, Lee Majors was a pilot (or astronaut🤔) who was seriously injured and rebuilt with the latest government technology (6 million worth to be precise). Watching him go HAM to save Santa would be hilarious.
Further context - the nananana noise Chevy Chase makes in Caddyshack while making perfect putts is a reference to 6 Million Dollar Man and the iconic sfx that would happen every time he did something superhuman.
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and your laugh kills me every time lol. Carol Kane was the perfect choice for the Ghost of Christmas Present. Yes, there are a few actors in the movie that was also in Lethal Weapon, since Richard Donner directed this and Lethal Weapon. Also, the guys that played Bill Murray's brother and his father, are his actual brothers.
4:06 - Lee Majors was an actor who stared in a 70s action series called 'The Six Million Dollar Man.' It was quite common in the 80s for stars from past decades to be cast in low-budget made-for-tv movies to bolster their flagging careers. 4:58 - It's quite common for adaptations of 'A Christmas Carol' to be called simply 'Scrooge' after the main character. Even this movie is part of that trend. 8:06 - My sister's boyfriend (now husband) had a cat that 'played' Devil May Cry. He realized that when he batted the joystick, the figure on the TV moved. 16:13 - Alcohol (any 'spirit' but classically whiskey) and something carbonated over ice. 35:06 - This is actually Christmas Present's bit, but it wouldn't really work with their version of the character.
Saw this the week it was released on VHS, and I remember my mother was freaked out by the ghost of Christmas future. However, the thing she was more concerned about was how much I loved him, hahahaha
41:20 Doggo saying his fave bit in the movie lol, this is my fave xmas film, came out when i was 5, watched it every xmas since, so glad i got to watch it with you this year, have the best xmas all of you xxx
When Bill Recites Richard Burton’s lines from “Cleopatra”, that killed me….still does…”I thought after Exorcist 2 & Night of the Iguana, we had something special…” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Thank you! I've watched this a dozen times and never got the Richard Pryor line to the waiter until you broke it down. Merry Christmas and keep up the great reactions!
It’s Lee Manors ! ?????? WHO? The six million roller man ! WHO? 😆 😆 and best line ever ! Blank . U gotta get this as a shirt ! Why they Shankin ‘Ass in Scrooge? Had me on the floor ! Cryin . Cause my sides were killin me from laughting so hard !
Mrs. Retton (not sure of the spelling as it’s been YEARSSS), was one of my FAVORITE teachers! She taught at Follansbee Middle School! Mary Lou was her niece!
If there’s one actor who can steal the show from Bill Murray, it’s Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Present. She’s so abusive to him. It’s hilarious. This is the only “modern” retelling of A Christmas Carol that I watch regularly. After the Alastair Sim version.
Yes Jay, that is the therapist from the Lethal Weapon films. Her casting may be related to the fact that this film has the same.director as those films...Richard Donner. Didn't realize till you pointed it out that the armored car driver from Lethal 3 was at the soup kitchen and 1 more Lethal Weapon cameo...the director in the booth was the captain from LW. And yes again...Claire is played by Karen Allen aka Marion from the Indy films.
A highball is just one to two ounces of any hard liquor mixed with a tonic; soda water or just soda, like a cola. A rum and Coke, or rum and root beer, for example, is a highball. By ordering just a 'highball' though typically means the 'classic' highball, which is essentially a shot of Irish whiskey, Scotch whisky, or Kentucky bourbon in tonic water over ice, sometimes with a twist of lemon.
The hilarious thing is, the intro action Christmas movie with a "strapped Santa" is actually a movie. It's called "Violent Night." Maybe it's worth a view for the next action movie you do... If you haven't done"Die Hard" already. "Black Christmas" is covered for the horror Christmas movie. This one covers humor. "It's A Wonderful Life" is the big nostalgia Christmas movie. There's a romantic Christmas movie with Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate What'shername from Titanic, and Jack Black -- Can't recall the name, but they switch houses for the Holidays. And there's plenty to choose from for the family Christmas movies and TV shows -- "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer", and tons that were made during the 60s-80s. If you want to be depressed, there's "Nestor, The Long-Eared Donkey" about the donkey that carried a pregnant Mary when she and Joseph had to escape their homeland. "Sleepless in Seattle" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan for romance, to name a few. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas
Hey thank you for doing this reaction. I had really forgotten most of that movie but watching it with you doing the reaction. It feels like I’m watching it myself. So I really appreciate you. God bless you and your family. Merry 🎄 to all and a happy new year🎉!
What I love about this movie is that Bill Murray's brothers are in it, his brother in the movie is his real brother, a guest at his brothers party is a real life brother and the guy who plays his dad in the movie is a real life brother
EOM Gaming? Oh, that should be good. I'm down. I'd definitely like to watch you play GTA V, Until Dawn, and The Walking Dead, just to name a few off the top of my head.
I LOVE this movie! It's one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time, and I'm always surprised by how many people haven't had the chance to see it. So many great quotes in this!
16:40 - I think the dude brings his own cutlery because he doesn't trust the cleanliness of the restaurant's kitchen. With his utensils, he knows how clean they are. It's an OCD thing
Merry Christmas/Happy winter solctice (altho nowadays it's around the 22nd of December) Jay!! Out with the old, in with the new! 🎄🍻 Keem em coming team EOM!!
Ghost of Christmas present got them hands. . . . And may be a bit of a freak
Carol Kane(Ghost of Christmas Present) actually tore Bill's lip when she pulled it. He actually needed like two stitches.
@@benjaminecklesDAMN 😂
@@benjamineckles I liked her in license to drive.
Bye
Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Present is my favourite part of this movie, she never fails to crack me up no matter how many times i've watched this movie!
Her commitment to that role was next level.
Without a doubt, she’s the funniest part of this movie. I’ve seen it dozens of times and she still makes me laugh.
Apparently in an interview she commented how much of a good sport Bill Murray was during the shooting of this scene because turns out it was an extremely painful process
😂😂😂😂
Finally a reactor that understands the Richard Pryor joke!

Karen Allen is an underrated actress. I wish she was in more. I loved her in Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Animal House (it's key to the plot).
“Thugged out Tinkerbell” perfection
This movie still makes me tear at the end with his I believe speech. Merry Christmas everyone and to you and the Family.
You too! 🎄
Shoot.. I teared up during the reaction.😢

I like that three of Bill Murray's brothers were in this as his on-screen brother and on-screen father.
"It's Christmas Eve! It's... it's the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we... we... we smile a little easier, we... w-w-we... we... we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be!"

Go with God and Be Safe from Evil. 😎 👍
28:55 lol. I never get tired of watching you laugh uncontrollably
I love that Bill Murray's older brother played his father in the past and that one of his younger brothers played his brother. The only Murray brother not involved was the youngest Murray
For me, this is required watching every Christmas along with Home Alone, and Die Hard.
what about The Muppet Christmas Carol? ☺
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation?
This is definitely one of the weirdest and wildest Christmas movies ever made, and Bill Murray plays the ultimate a-hole here 😂❤
Bobcat Goldthwait and Robert Mitchum are Legends.
I was at one of the premiere's of this flick, and yeah, the theatre sang at the end 😂
I saw this in the theater too & we are sang at the end also. Glad to hear others did this as well. 😁
One of my favorite Christmas films. And my favorite adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
“I can’t see her nipples.” Okay. Sure. 😂😂😂

Always enjoy laughing with you, J! My favorite comment of the night was "the thugged-out Tinkerbell" hahaha! Have a great holiday weekend, bro! 😁👊🏻🎄🎅🎄
The cabbie ghost is David Johansen , lead singer of the New York Dolls
That was a lot of fun. Definitely a great Holiday treat 🤶🎅
Best version of Charles Dickens a Christmas Carol ever
This is my 2nd fav Christmas movie!
Great reaction and edit as always!
Thugged out tinkerbell XD

Buster was the singer for the New York Dolls which influenced every British punk band in the 70s

Same woman as the woman in Lethal Weapon. Same director too! The late, great Richard Donner.
This is one my favorites. Prob watch it at least 10 times during the Christmas season. Another dark comedy Christmas movie to check out is "The Ref" starring Dennis Leary. So underrated. Kinda of a lost classic.
“If I can’t work lake … I CAN’T WORK LATE!”
Me and my folks say lines like that one when we catch the movie on tv 😂
I absolutely love this movie!
"It's never too late"
"Where'd he get a gun from?"
In New York? In '88? Any street corner.
"Is Santa at war? Who? Is Santa's workshop in Detroit?!"
The Six-Million Dollar Man holiday special is still something I want to see.

Is Santa at war? 😂😂 Funniest comment in the whole reaction.
Second greatest Christmas movie of all time....the first is of course Muppets Christmas Carol and I will die on that hill.
Bill Murray is hilarious. I'm glad you liked it.
Watch this every year it's one of my favorite classic Christmas movies ❤
Can't go wrong with Bill Murray

Cant believe you didnt recognize Carol Kane from Princess Bride as Miracle Max's wife. That voice.
Richard Donner directed Scrooged and all the Lethal Weapon movies so he used some of the cast in Scrooged
The ass xerox copies was actually a thing in the 80s
4:06 - Lee Majors was an actor who stared in a 70s action series called 'The Six Million Dollar Man.' It was quite common in the 80s for stars from past decades to be cast in low-budget made-for-tv movies to bolster their flagging careers.

You are the first person who caught the Richard Pryor joke! Thanks for reacting to my favorite Christmas movie ❤️
Saw this the week it was released on VHS, and I remember my mother was freaked out by the ghost of Christmas future. However, the thing she was more concerned about was how much I loved him, hahahaha
Merry Christmas Jay man

The Ghost of Christmas Present was always my favorite. I'm glad J cracked up as much as I did watching her beat up Bill Murray. 😂
Happy Holidays, J! Enjoyed your reaction.
Thank you! I've watched this a dozen times and never got the Richard Pryor line to the waiter until you broke it down. Merry Christmas and keep up the great reactions!

I have a pit bull that loves to watch westerns & home improvement shows
Think of your fellow man, lend him a helping hand, put a little love in your heart.
Merry Christmas. You always say something that makes me laugh hard.
Lee Majors. The bionic man.
The 6 million dollar (when million was a lot) man. With the bionic eye. Doo-do-do-do-do.
Mrs. Retton (not sure of the spelling as it’s been YEARSSS), was one of my FAVORITE teachers! She taught at Follansbee Middle School! Mary Lou was her niece!
Happy Christmas to you & your co-pilots! 🤶🎄🎀
You had me at... "This is nothing like Duck Tales" 🥸😆
I loved this movie as a kid. And stll do. 80's and 90's movies had heart. It's what's missing now at days!
The unscripted (looking) fall in the restaurant always cracks me up
♾️ITZ A BONE!!!!! 🐶
Love your reactions! Have a Merry Christmas and happy New Year! Rooting for your Ravens this Monday night!!
Hulk Hogan threw the ghost of Christmas past in a pool head first once it ruined his hair
Lee Majors, forgot about that cameo. I love your videos!
The ghost of christmas past looked so familiar and then it came to me, he's played by Buster Poindexter.
Merry Christmas everyone.🎄
If there’s one actor who can steal the show from Bill Murray, it’s Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Present. She’s so abusive to him. It’s hilarious. This is the only “modern” retelling of A Christmas Carol that I watch regularly. After the Alastair Sim version.

Is that Zed from police academy?
You gotta finish the police academy series J
It sure is!
Enjoyed your reaction to this movie ❤❤❤

You don't know Lee Majors. Damn, I must be as old as I feel.
Your dog's jealous when you talk to the camera
Hey thank you for doing this reaction. I had really forgotten most of that movie but watching it with you doing the reaction. It feels like I’m watching it myself. So I really appreciate you. God bless you and your family. Merry 🎄 to all and a happy new year🎉!
I absolutely love this movie!! Finally a reaction channel that reacts to good movies!
Congrats on the new channel. Cheers from Canada!
A highball is ginger ale and whiskey.
Merry Xmas, my brother.
Give them copilots a couple extra skritches from Uncle Dutch!!!
I'm hyped for the gaming channel, I've already subscribed.
'TINKERBELLE........Also played Billy Crystal's win in 'The Princess Bride'
A highball is a drink that's a mix of whisky, soda water and ginger beer with a slice of lemon. No idea why its called a high ball though.
What I love about this movie is that Bill Murray's brothers are in it, his brother in the movie is his real brother, a guest at his brothers party is a real life brother and the guy who plays his dad in the movie is a real life brother
Bill's brother John Murray stars in a funny movie from 1985 called, Moving Violations. You should check it out.
EOM Gaming? Oh, that should be good. I'm down. I'd definitely like to watch you play GTA V, Until Dawn, and The Walking Dead, just to name a few off the top of my head.
"Heeza Asow" was the original title for this movie.
I'm sure someone has said it already.
Frank's Father and baby brother are actually Bill's brothers.
J your reaction was classic you !..🤣🤣🤣...
I couldn't watch last night so I made sure to watch this morning...
Thank you J & Blank...🌿🎄🌿
Bro I already subscribed to the gaming channel when I accidentally found it a week ago lol
Carol Kane (Ghost of Christmas Present) was also Valerie, Miracle Max’s wife in The Princess Bride.
I LOVE this movie! It's one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time, and I'm always surprised by how many people haven't had the chance to see it. So many great quotes in this!
Happy Scrooge Season Everyone!

Is Romulus any good at jeopardy when he watches it i know dogs don't have thumps but he might still know the answers
I remember seeing this in the theatre! Bill Murray rules!
Indeed, I was 14 when this came out in theaters and had a great time. And as an adult I always tear up at the end, every single time.
