Fun fact: The composer of the music for this game is Michael Giacchino 26:46 He went on to score films/shows such as Up, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, The Batman, Alias, Jojo Rabbit, Lost, the newer Spiderman live action films, the Jurassic World films, the JJ Abrams Star Trek films, Star Wars Rogue One, Doctor Strange JUST TO NAME A FEW. Amazing to realize the start of his amazing career was a few of Sega Genesis games that I hold near and dear to my heart. He composed the music for Jurassic Park The Lost World on Playstation and Saturn. To think, a couple of decades later he would be composing the music for the actual Jurassic World movies themselves. What a journey, and what a composer!!!!
Michael also did the OST of "Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow" (SNES' version of the Genesis' game "Donald In Maui Mallard"). And, later, Uncharted 3. The guy is a legend.
Wow, this game has one of the best graphics and animation for the genesis. I also remember seeing the cartoon a few times in the 90’s and thought it had outstanding art and animation for a tv series
Totally! This was the first game I ever had on Genesis, when I was a kid, and I was absolutely astonished by the smoothness of the game's animation. No other Sega game was as smooth. Now, more than a decade later, I can tell this game aged really well.
Yeah, this is definitely graphically impressive for the Sega. I think the Genesis was capable of much more than we got. It seems a lot of developers didn't put as much love into some of the games as the developers did for the SNES. This looks awesome! I do think it's funny that the only real sounding instrument in the music is that damn timpani, lol.
Not all of them. Really It's the same with every console that you really start seeing developers utilize every last drop of power from the console towards the end of the consoles life. A lot of the first titles on the 8bit and 16bit (Even 32) machines look a bit basic.
@@Gatorade69maybe not all, (Donkey Kong Country looks better with a CRT filter) but they still look nice to look at. The expressionism of the limited pixels, colors, and background layers still stand out.
Michael Giacchino, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Man Behind the Soundtracks of Lost, the Incredibles, Doctor Strange, Speed Racer, the Incredibles and more.
I realized while watching this that out of all the times I played this game I never once made it past the first level. I use to just jump around mostly haha.
For the comment section I'm here almost a year later because I saw the same thing and just saw they announced it again today!! :-( though they didn't release any of the new " " remastered footage "in😢
So, in 1995, I was a) a kid in possession of a Mega Drive b) a big Disney fan and c) quite a fan of Gargoyles but, somehow I never knew this game existed.
During Disney D23 in 2022, an announcement trailer for a remastered version was released. At this time, no information was shown other than that it is currently being made.
The game play is pretty good. They really knew what they doing and had the mud of memory down. That took skill. Also crazy to see how far game graphics have come. Thanks for the upload!
This was one of the tougher games. I guess I was playing this when I was like 5-6, and specifically remember I couldn't make it past that "lava pot" level. Never made it to Demona. Loved the show tho, and honestly thought this game was pretty scary. Oh what it's like to be 5 again. The whole vibe was dark for this show and I loved it.
I heard that Gargoyles Sega Genesis game is going to be remastered. I just hope Gargoyles gets a reboot/continuation & also a live action movie someday as well. #Gargoyles #KeepBingingGargoyles #Goliath
imagine how strange it feels being casted to stone in 994 AD then a thousand years later being released from it then you have no idea what century your in. what are these giant steel structures and what are those things carrying ppl on the streets?
I remember the crisp graphcis and the animation being in another level, also the sound was great. Sadly all that is lost with the emulator and the digital image on modern monitors.
Climbing walls is, in my opinion, the most fun feature Chris Shrigley programmed into the game. I think it would have been better if the Sega Saturn and PlayStation had come out outside of Japan only in 1996 because their real non-Japan launches (in 1995) prevented Gargoyles and Maui Mallard from selling very well. Both games are rare, so Sega Saturn and PlayStation are to blame.
I like the random drones, they seem fictional like gargoyles. Wish there were more around gargoyles and the transformation between human and gargoyles of dna related fiction.
4:20 looked very redundant. I may cancel my remaster preorder given that we've got so much stuff holiday 2023. I am also seeing a lot of stuff from earthworm jim un the next hell level too.
Had this as a kid and watching this I know I made it to the second level, but I doubt I made it much past that... The level design is questionable here... and the boss design looks to be laughable. Such visuals and score though.
Never saw this game before but used to love the cartoon. The animation is really good. Wish they had made a SNES port so that we could have a version where the audio didn't suck and the graphics were better. Good god what an awful sound chip the Genesis had...

Which other Sega Genesis games did he take part in??
He also did the music for the original Medal of Honor games

Nah they definitely hold up well. Way better than how badly aged the n64 games look.
This game brings back so many memories, holy crap even the music

a shocking amount of games were like that for me as a kid. Actraiser 2 on the Super Nintendo comes to mind
How did I not play this growing up, I didn't even know it existed lol , looks fun as hell, can't wait for the new remaster, loved the cartoon 🤘
Same... I only know about it now because they announced a remaster

Here from the remastered announcement along with the physical version from limited run games. Honestly, this original version looks amazing!
That Sega Genesis, man. Graphics that can still make you go "holy shit that looks stunning!"

Someone beat this in 28 min, and that's freakn amazing.

Only 3 people from Disney Software participated in both games. In general, these are completely different teams.
Found this video from google news because of Disney introducing this.😊(th emoji was an accident)

No, it is not good, Save your money. ✌️
I hope the remaster will be worth getting. Otherwise, you can't trust any developer.
