Invicta i would love to see you play the roman campaign and give some comments on the early steps of roman history (as you did a little in this video). Maybe even compare your playthrough to historical events, or try to be as historical accurate as possible in the campaign. Anyway, great video, thx for the content.
Invicta i would be down to watch the samnite's campaign too, i just think that when you add gameplay and historic knowledge it gets so much more interesting
I am looking forward to playing Taras.
The last DLC crashed on turn 50. Maybe you should review this one to turn 51?!?!
it would be amazing if you could select rise of republic then grand campaign , like when you take all the map it then zooms out to the grand campaign and have to research to get hastati etc.
I wish CA makes a deluxe Grand Campaign where the entire map is this fleshed out.
DaviloX07 _ me too
YESSSS then you could be the Ionians and pretend to be the sea people’s :3
I played a mod years ago idk if anyone else had it. Not sure of the name but was focused on the rise of Rome. I Can't find it anymore but that mod changed the map to include wayyy more cities and the rest of the globe, except the Americas and Australia weren't included.
In the Italian Peninsula there was about 20 cities. I'm still waiting on a total war game or mod on atilla that does the same thing
As an Italian, I LOVE the map! It is really detailed. As much as I like conquering all the Mediterranean Sea I think these "country-specific" maps are way better.

*The Republic isn’t the only thing rising coz of this video update.*
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Ye the cost and the amount of broken mods
TOM BAMBADILO!
bombadil pls.
Interesting how the technology "Via Vitae" is translated as "Path of labour" and "Via Labos" is translated as "Path of Life"... Seems like they messed something up xd
To be expected, I think.
Why is that?
Bram Van Haverbeke It's because CA sucks nowadays, and they don't actually know what labour means.
All they know is DLC, how to nickle and dime, and of-course how to ruin game mechanics. It's funny how it's considered "fleshing out" by adding a family tree which has been included in just about every historical TW title. Wish they would "fleshout" building cities by adding the old free-form mechanic from Rome1 and Med 2.
Admittedly they have slightly improved with each DLC, but the game still cant compare to the original or even Attila. Heck, throw Attila some love
It is a pre-release build, so at least they've got the time to fix these small mistakes prior to full release.
The old city building was boring as you could contsruct everything everywhere. I prefer the new system a lot, as it makes you actually think about what to construct. Also it was so stupid in Rome I and Med II that every unimportant village could grow into a metropolitan city at one point. I love that Rome Ii now has major cities and minor cities.
broke a record in clicking fast THINKING that this was the continuation of the amazing early roman history you did....but I guess this is the second best option :P
mate same :D
same :'O
7:16 ''..Julii...Scipii...Brutii..''
Is it just me who likes the more detailed maps better than the grand campaign
Ben Prior me too
Hell yeah. The world map campaigns are fuckin bland.
Sicily in GC is pathetic
jamreal18 especially in attila
Impossible for me to go back to the GC after playing the detailed maps
Thank you for being the only RUclipsr who didn't choose Rome
I love this channel so much. Your videos are very well made and informative, I cannot thank you enough.
I really enjoyed watching you play in the battle (as opposed to you commentating the replay) id love to see more videos of your campaign play through!
Thanks for the preview! This looks good!
Did someone say "Companion Cavalry"?
*Hammer and Anvil Intensifies*
Pretty hyped for the new DLC, especially with the Divide et Impera Mod
Is he going to update that one for the DLC?
They said that they would but that it’ll take time, they haven’t even completely finished adapting the mod for the last DLC CA released.
Dresden and the team are pretty much gods i'm sure it'll be out within a few days
You guys think, it'll be worth it to purchase? I'm not sure yet.
Yea that is the only way I play this game now unless its multiplayer.
I like that... more battle markers to commemorate battles you fought in.
Huzzah I waited for such a video!
great vid mate :D love your content
Thank you Invicta! Very Cool!
4:44 Capua and Neapolis were greek colonies that fought against the etruscans
Family trees? Heck yes.
Krissy go to betas and activate ancestral
Wanna start one? xD The Ancestral patch is awesome so far!
gay ^
lovely battle. Nicely done
You should do a documentary on artillery warfare was used during ancient antiquity
Now it needs a Alexander the great dlc
Giannis Balagiannis that would be more interesting actually, since there are more major players involved and makes for a less straightforward campaign
Giannis Balagiannis plus it’s covering a time no one really talks about. Only major downside would be that the diadochi would all field similar armies, so having some secondary factions on the side (like Nabataea or eventually even Galatia) would be a good way to diversify engagements
If Alexander would be made as Rome 2 dlc, prepare to see lots of complaints
Epic vid mate
Anyone else wish CA made a total war with a main campaign using a map that is a proportionate size to what this looks like. A map of europe in which every country and peninsula have an amazing number of settlments like in this campaign.
I think most people would love that, I would at least. Though i doubt most people would ever finish their campaigns and control the whole map =P If the AI improves enough so that they can form giant empires too however then you could end up having big empires clash near endgame......
Good video. Interesting misadventure at the gates of Rome ;)
20:16 I've never had a nation break their client state treaty in Rome II no matter how much money I offered are whatever other concessions I offered. I hope this translate to GC after the patch is official.
I wish you’d do more Rome 2 you beautiful bastard
More pls I really like how you explain everything maybe play as some of the other factions?
How do you not have a full stack by turn 40? The upkeep must be really high compared to the income in this scenario.
He has an army and a navy. You'll find in the grand campaign navies are very high upkeep.
I wish you did more of this.
29:35 - A scene from 300 (The movie) - A Hoplite running through enemy lines slicing and dicing. If only you could slow-mo it
Think the Total War series need to make it when you go to a territory it will turn to what Sicily is in this video(more stuff in province/zoomed in). Meaning it has more depth.
My family is from Conza, old name is Compsa :D beautiful place. Should do a video on romes there samnite wars, there is a decent amount to talk about in there. Like the Roman's changing from phalanx system to the other system and the battle of caudine forks!
The battle was fantastic, something akin to Napoleon's situation at Waterloo with two armies against him. With almost 1000 hours clocked on this game, it seems my love and attention to this game is not ending anytime soon!.
The women character model still looks scary af unfortunately
Varied Gamer 100% would be better if they had their tits out.
That would make them even scarier.
I see, you are a man of culture. Cool Profil picture. 😁👍
I hope someday games and computers will be powerful enough to let you play on maps this big on a continental or even global scale, I’d love spending months or even years on a large campaign map with it feeling like your slowly and lovingly growing an empire
I just love the new colors damnn
Would you make a video on Alea Jacta Est? It's a very janky game, but after playing it some time ago I found it very interesting and unique.
im new and i have no idea what he's trying to show me... but cool that he's explaining
This DLC is rough and there is a lot of struggle, more than the main campaign or other DLC that I have played as Rome, I still trying to find my footing, because no artillery make things like more difficult to accomplish.
Man have you try rotk series? its kinda fun as well
Oh this is going to be good!! :)
I want to see you make a video regarding "nations that were conquered by alexander"
Do you still play Oakley? thanks for everything you do big shooter, brought my love of history to life my guy
Cool video !
hat's weird but i don't have that main menu background for rise of the republic, is that a mod ?
My bad, but it can only be selected with the left arrow on the bottom right ^^ good to know
a lot of the changes he mentioned have been in the game for years now, many more were new but a good chunk is not.
I saw in another video that you could recruit some native troops. They should really add that to the grand campaign, a bit more technologically advanced than the ones you can get now but it’d be cool.
Connor Quarmby the romans can already build local units if you make the auxiliary barracks instead of the manipel barracks
Sam Pollé yes they can recruit but I mean DEI style where you can recruit some...native troops who haven’t been “romanised” aka not trained in the Roman ah of fighting and not using Roman equipment
Connor Quarmby there is, it is possible to train gallic warriors or syriam archers, fighting in their own style just like in real life
Sam Pollé no, without the Auxiliary barracks. Plus in Rome 2 they just got lazy and just put some units from other factions in. DEI and AE do it so much better and they’re just mods. DEI even has a reform even for some factions or multiple depending on the faction. I mean let’s take..Syracuse for example in DEI. You can recruit syracusian Marines from the 3rd level of the city of Syracuse. That’s what I mean, from the actual settlement buildings. They may not be the best but it’d be a nice touch.
Wow the map reminds me a little of the map of Britain from Medieval II Britannia and the recent Thrones of Britannia.
I don't like how much space the cities takes on the campaign map. Also, isn't this too much forest for this time period? I'd rather have more open land so that you can manoeuvre and choose your battlefield.
The DEI version of this DLC is going to be INCREDIBLE!
where is part 2 of evolution of the roman Legions?
The thumbnail for this video is really fu*king neat, idk why I just really like it for some reason😀
Are admiral abilities usable yet? Or still grayed out?
Consuls are missing from the GC too. Historically, Rome had two consuls at a time. I wish CA would implement an update to the GC that allows the election of consuls for Rome. Because having a dictator be faction leader at all times, in an apparently monarchical style, goes against CA's pledge to historical accuracy in some areas.
Why is the seem Aspis so small? Wouldn't they be the same size as the Hoplons from WOS?
*_We will be back_*
-_Invicta 4th century General_
Are any of the factions available to multiplayer?
Invicta, 24:24 "Aleric" of the Senones?!? I know sacking Rome became very fashionable later, but at least get the Gaulish hipster right. He was sacking Rome before it was cool. :D
Travis Miller oh whoops did I mix up alaric and brennus... lol
Long time since i played Rome 2, mostly play Warhammer 2. That's why i am asking a bit stuipidly, is the family tree only in Rise of the republic? Or all of the game?
Thank you
SuperFaroeIslands It Will be available for all the game
Could you do a roman campaign in this dlc
I would like a total war talking about the successors wars
4:01 I subconsciously press W, D, then A, after which I look around with Q. Damn!
You never had a chance against Rome like that......
Can you make the same video for Syracuse or
Sending someone as a diplomat is a very good way of getting rid of them. They always get killed when I do that.
Would like to watch and follow yur Samnite campaign but cant find it in your channel....
You get so excited about tiny percentage changes
Are the new mechanic changes just for this DLC or for whole game?
Abheer Mehrotra some are for the whole game like the family tree but much is just for this campaign
Btw can you make a total war series ? on @Invicta gaming" its realy fun with you
Is it worth 17€ ? What are the new stuffs justifying this price ?
Are these changes (family tree Etc) only for this campaign?
Will they be playable in multiplayer?
how many TPY is this dlc Oakley?
I wish we could play as Carthage.
More campaign vids!
How about bugs? Any in game bugs in battle map?
Awesoem :-)
Why are your units not lagging whilest moving?
The next step should be making a single faction, such as Rome, multiplayer -- allowing for internal division, intrigue, and strength when threatened.
Say it like Metatron. ROMA INVICTA !
I wish that they redone the unit cards
Same, but it kinda fits. Still though colored cards would’ve been nice.
Will the etuscans be playable in the grand campaign?
Aiden B i dont think so infortunately
:(
Is the family tree being added into the main campaign?
Yes. It is part of a free patch that launches same day as the new DLC.
Holy shit that's amazing. Thanks.
Will this come out for Mac?
you lucky you can play already the DLC still 3 days to go
Why they do not a mod like this in 400bc but cover all the main campaigh it wpuld be awesome this map is very small any way
wait a minute... This is DLC ain't supposed to be out till 9th of August!!!
Danial S they let him play early to promote the game
take
a
look
at
this
The traits suck balls. All you get is the "Procrastinator"/"Wary of Strangers" ones (because they trigger ending a turn inside cities, even when that turn is after conquering said city) or the "Likes a Scrap"/"A bit of Claret" because they trigger via autoresolve. Six traits only gives you extra space for crap like that, unless they fix the trait triggers
I'm partial to the samnites coz...they're awesome.
Can you find some time to play campaign.Try to follow historicly expansions and politics.
That will be cool and interesanting to watch..
Is this game any good now? I heard it was pretty bad when it came out. I have only played Empire: Total War and Total war: Warhammer 2. Looking to give some of the other games in the series a try.
coolpumas it is good. They improved it al lot
Have they sorted out the derpy AI?
The city of Rome disappeared when you were attacked.
would be nice if somebody would mod this map into renaissance italian wars
Kristián Mažar best idea ever
great idea but dont think its possible with the lack of presence of crossbows, which made it possible to put guns into attila, if this was an attila dlc everybody's problems would be solved
Oh boy do I have a mod for you
This kind of family and political detail need to somehow make its way to vanilla ROME 2
ilejovcevski79 ancestral update comes out on the same date
I had no idea! I've been out of the loop in too long it seams :D
I've been playing the beta ancestral updates for 2 weeks xD It's been out & compatible with every campaign !
I was thinkn yesterday how I would like to play a city state version of rome 2.. and here it is. how ironic.
@J, Williams: more of a coincidence than irony I'd say. :P
Yeah, this isn't irony
16:38 hellenistic culture in 399 bc lol hellenic
2 more days...
When you where "messing" diplomatically with the Volsci I imagined how the Influence system from Warhammer II would work in Rome, or able to bribe senators to pass legislation in the senate (Edicts).
