Nice one, those 5 series really are a beast of a thing. It'd be nice to get the touchpad off a T550, so you can have the buttons back. Instead of that horrible "CLUNKpad"
Yes I absolutely agree. I am not a huge fan of the T540p touchpad. Clunkpad is fitting, haha. I have actually installed a T550 style touchpad, with the three buttons on top, on a T540p but I couldn't find a driver match that would allow it to function as it does with a T550. I was going through a few T440 and T540p's to sell, so I did try for a little while. Since I wasn't planning on keeping one for myself, I ended up not finding a solution before they went out. I'm still a little bummed. I have a couple of the touchpads in stock, so perhaps one day.
@@HaisteComputerRepair you have to make sure to get the synaptics pads, not the alps ones. "Seb's Random Tech" channel has a video where he does a T440, he talks about the right driver to get.
@@ted-b I actually did see his video and followed it, but it didn't seem to work for me. Others online had the same troubles and there were alleged workarounds, but again it was too much for an item I was fixing to sell. I believe it came down to running a specific version of Windows 10 before a major update. I did reach out to Sebi once for something different and he was very helpful. I don't usually sell laptops that require maintenance from a modification unless it's a fellow enthusiast as having to do it all over again could mean just trashing the laptop to an average consumer. Of course, if someone requested it I would certainly try to do it. Thanks for your suggestion, I appreciate it!
@@HaisteComputerRepair Oh yes, keep them stock for customers, I understand completely. We don't mind tinkering with our own machines! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations, very good your work
